नागपूर : लाचलुचपत प्रतिबंधक विभागातील कर्मचारी महिलेच्या लैंगिक छळाच्या प्रकरणाची चर्चा शांत होत नाही तोच पोलीस विभागातील एक पोलीस निरीक्षक ‘मी टू’ प्रकरणात अडकला आहे. याबाबत महिला कर्मचाऱ्याने दाखल केलेल्या तक्रारीची गंभीर दखल पोलीस आयुक्त डॉ. भूषणकुमार उपाध्याय यांनी घेतली असून पोलीस उपायुक्तांना चौकशीचे आदेश दिले आहेत.
या तक्रारीनुसार, एक वर्षांपासून पोलीस निरीक्षक पीडित महिलेचे लैगिंक शोषण करीत होता. आरोपी विवाहित असून त्याला दोन अपत्य आहेत. काही दिवसांपूर्वी आरोपीने महिलेला मारहाण केली. ‘माझे कोणी काही वाकडे करू शकत नाही, तुला जे करायचे ते कर’, अशी धमकी दिली.
त्यामुळे पीडित महिलेने आरोपी सध्या तैनात असलेल्या पोलीस ठाण्यात तक्रार दिली. मात्र येथील पोलिसांनी महिलेच्या तक्रारीची दखल घेतली नाही. अखेर दोन दिवसांपूर्वी पीडित महिलेने थेट पोलिस आयुक्त कार्यालय गाठून उपाध्याय यांच्याकडे लिखित तक्रार केली. त्या तक्रारीची आयुक्तांनी गंभीर दखल घेतली व उपयुक्तांना चौकशीचे आदेश दिले.

Former Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Chavan on Thursday said since the BJP “failed” to bring development, it raked up the Ram temple issue ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, but people will not get misled by such “poll tactics”.

Nagpur: The Nagpur University (NU) lower Boys’ Hostel premises at Law College Square on Amravati Road wore a devastated look on Wednesday following brutal chopping of 32 full grown trees by its garden department without the mandatory permission from Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC).
The shocking move gave a flippant impression of the vice-chancellor SP Kane’s mission ‘One student, One Tree’ launched last monsoon on the lines of the state government’s 13 crore plantation drive. It is not known why the felling was carried out.
Of the 32 trees, two big trees were cut from the roots, severely removed. The trees which were cut included one big banyaan, two neem, four gulmohar, 11 cassia, one ritha among other species. Some of these trees were located on the department lands adjoining the hostel.
Hostel inmates told that they had opposed the tree cutting, but authorities didn’t heed to their pleas. NMC officials alerted by NGO Green Vigil’s Kaustav Chatterjee were carrying out panchnama. The NGO member Surbhi Jaiswal and Mehul Kosurkar assisted NMC of the spot and identifying the species.
NMC officials said the university’s garden department had not taken any permission. The NMC had allowed to cut only a big mango tree which had dried up and was posing threat to students safety, the officials said.
Activist Chatterjee said as per Maharashtra (Urban areas) (Urban areas) Protection and Preservation of Trees Act, 1975 (Amended in 2016), even for cutting branches one needs permission from respective municipal corporation.

The Committee of Administrators (COA) chief Vinod Rai on Thursday recommended a two-ODI ban on Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul for their controversial comments on women in celebrity talk-show ‘Koffee with Karan‘ hosted by Bollywood film-maker Karan Johar. However, fellow COA member Diana Edulji has referred the matter to the BCCI’s legal cell.
“I am not convinced with Hardik’s explanation and I have recommended a two-match ban for both players. However, the final decision will be taken once Diana gives her go ahead,” Rai told.
On the show, Pandya boasted about hooking up with multiple women and also how open he has been about it with his parents.
India are scheduled to play a three-match ODI series against Australia from Saturday.
Rahul, the more restrained of the two in the show, has not yet reacted to the social media storm. The two players were given 24 hours to explain themselves by the BCCI.
“Diana has sought legal opinion whether the duo can be banned. So, obviously a decision will be taken once she gives her nod. As far as I am concerned, the comments were crass, in bad taste and unacceptable,” Rai said.
It is learnt that Edulji has also sought the opinion of BCCI acting president CK Khanna, acting secretary Amitabh Chaudhary and treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry on the issue.
नागपूर : मस्तिष्क पेशी मृत झाल्याने अनंताच्या प्रवासाला निघालेल्यांच्या नातेवाइकांनी मनाचा मोठेपणा दाखविल्याने देशभर शेकडो जणांच्या आयुष्यात उमेदीची किरणे पेरण्यात यश आले. या महाअवयवदानात तेलंगणने देशात बाजी मारली आहे. सरलेल्या वर्षात एकट्या तेलंगणने मेंदूपेशी मृत झालेल्या १६०जणांच्या अवयवदानाचा पल्ला गाठला. त्याखालोखाल तामिळनाडूने १४० जणांच्या तर महाराष्ट्राने १३५ जणांना अवयवदान केले. यात महाराष्ट्राने देशात तिसरे स्थान पटकावले. समाधानाची बाब म्हणजे, अवयवदानाचे हब म्हणून उदयाला आलेल्या नागपूरनेही पुणे आणि मुंबईखालोखाल राज्यात तिसरे स्थान मिळविले.

अवयव निकामी झाल्याने मृत्यूच्या दारात पोहोचलेल्यांना जीवनदान मिळावे आणि अवयवदानाची चळवळ वृद्धिंगत व्हावी, यासाठी राष्ट्रीय, राज्य, विभागीय आणि प्रादेशिक पातळीवर समन्वय समित्यांची रचना करण्यात आली आहे. महाराष्ट्रात मुंबई, पुणे, नागपूर आणि औरंगाबाद अशा चार समित्या प्रादेशिक पातळीवर कार्यरत आहेत. या समित्यांनी केलेल्या समुपदेशनातून राज्यात १३५ जणांच्या महाअवयवदानाचा पल्ला गाठण्यात आला. त्यापैकी एकट्या पुणे प्रादेशिक क्षेत्रात सर्वाधिक ६३ मेंदूपेशी मृत पावलेल्यांचे अवयवदान झाले. त्याखालोखाल मुंबईने ४७ तर नागपूर प्रदेशात १८ जणांच्या महाअवयवदानाची मजल मारण्यात आली. औरंगाबाद प्रादेशिक स्तरावर मेंदूपेशी मृत पावलेल्या सातजणांचे अवयवदान झाले.
A young couple committed suicide by jumping into Futala lake on Wednesday. The lovers had tied their hands together before jumping into the lake. The deceased were identified as Chetan Vinod Mhetre (23), a resident of Binaki Mangalwari, Yashodhara Nagar, and Bharti Moti Kelwadkar (17), a resident of Shanti Nagar. The couple had been in relationship for last few years, said police.
However, family members of the girl were against the relationship and were mounting pressure on Bharti to end the relationship. When it became difficult to bear the pressure from their families, the couple decided to commit suicide together.
Police Inspector Bhimrao Khandare of Ambazari police Station suspected that the couple might have taken plunge into the lake on Tuesday morning. “Their hands were found tied with blue-coloured odhni,” said PI Khandale. The bodies were fished out on Wednesday morning.
On the basis of complaint by Sonu Kashinath Badwe, police registered a case of accidental death. Identity to the deceased were established on the basis of mobile phone recovered from the pant pocket of Chetan. Though the mobile phone had no Sim card, the police established identity of Chetan on the basis of IMEI number of the phone and informed their parents. The bodies were sent to GMCH for postmortem.
नागपूर : महिला उद्योजिका मेळाव्याच्या मंचावर विशेष मुले आली. परिधान केलेल्या कपड्यांवर त्यांनी स्वत: केलेल्या कलाकुसरीचे सादरीकरण फॅशन शो च्या माध्यमातून केले. विशेष मुलांनी सादर केलेला हा फॅशन शो बघून प्रेक्षकदीर्घेत उपस्थित असलेल्या महापौर नंदा जिचकार व महिला व बाल कल्याण समिती सभापती यांनाही राहावले नाही. त्यांनी थेट मंचावर जाउन विशेष मुलांचे कौतुक केले आणि त्यांना स्वरोजगारासाठी प्रोत्साहित केले.
निमित्त होते नागपूर महानगरपालिकामहिला व बालकल्याण समिती, समाज कल्याण विभाग यांच्या वतीने रेशीमबाग मैदानावर शहर समृद्धी अभियानांतर्गत आयोजित महिला उद्योजिका मेळाव्याचे. मेळाव्याच्या चवथ्या दिवशीच्या सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रमाच्या मालेत पुष्प होते ते दिव्यांग तथा विशेष मुलांचा फॅशन शो चे. प्रयास संस्थेच्या माध्यमातून आयोजित करण्यात आलेल्या या कार्यक्रमात दिव्यांग मुलांनी मंचावर येउन प्रेक्षकांना अभिवादन केले. विशेष म्हणजे त्यांनी परिधान केलेल्या कपड्यांवर प्रत्येकाने काहीना काही कलाकुसर केली होती. या दिव्यांग मुलांनी तयार केलेल्या दिव्यांचे प्रदर्शन दिवाळीच्या काळात दक्षिण मध्य सांस्कृतिक केंद्रात लागले होते. या माध्यमातून या विशेष मुलांनी ५५ हजारांचा व्यवसाय केल्याची माहिती आयोजकांनी दिली. किरण दिवे संचालित प्रयासच्या या विद्यार्थ्यांनी प्रेक्षकांची वाहवा मिळविली.

याप्रसंगी बोलताना महापौर नंदा जिचकार म्हणाल्या, महिला संपूर्ण क्षेत्र पादाक्रांत करू शकतात. मात्र पुरूषांना मर्यादा आहेत. घरातली महिला उद्योजिका झाली तर मुलांवरही उद्योगाचे संस्कार पडतात. मेळाव्यात आलेल्या प्रत्येक उद्योजिकेने या मेळाव्यातून प्रेरणा घेऊन जावी. अन्य महिलांनाही उद्योगासाठी प्रोत्साहित करावे, असे आवाहन त्यांनी यावेळी केले.
अॅड. तेजस्विनी खाडे यांनी महिला अधिकार आणि महिलांसाठी असलेल्या कायद्यांबाबत विवेचन केले. नागपूर महानगरपालिकेच्या माध्यमातून दहाही झोनमध्ये याबाबत कार्यशाळा घेणार असल्याचे त्यांनी सांगितले.

चवथ्या दिवशी पाच महिलांचा सत्कार करण्यात आला. संगीत क्षेत्रात नावाजलेल्या संगीत शिक्षिका बीना चॅटर्जी, संस्कृत आणि मराठीतील तज्ज्ञ भारती सुदर्शन गोस्वामी, विविध उद्योगांच्या संचालिका महिला गोरक्षक अंजली वदीयार, सांदीपनीच्या मुख्याध्यापिका मल्लीका फैजुद्दीन आणि सुजाता मडावी यांचा स्मृतीचिन्ह देऊन सत्कार करण्यात आला. चवथ्या दिवशी दुपारी घेण्यात आलेल्या दुसऱ्या स्पर्धेमध्ये विजयी वर्षा काळींदे, माही चौधरी, आरोही कोटेजवार, आरव मेश्राम, अर्णव कारेमोरे यांना महिला व बाल कल्याण समितीच्या सभापती प्रगती पाटील, नगरसेविका मंगला खेकरे व वंदना भगत यांच्या हस्ते पुरस्कार प्रदान करण्यात आले.
नागपूर : ‘नागनदी प्रदूषण निर्मूलन प्रकल्पा’साठी जपानची वित्तीय संस्था ‘जिका’ (जापान इंटरनॅशनल कोऑपरेशन एजन्सी) अर्थसहाय्य करणार आहे. या अर्थसहाय्यासाठी २८ नोव्हेंबरला ‘ जिका’ आणि मनपामध्ये करारावर स्वाक्षऱ्या करण्यात आल्या.
प्रकल्पाच्या नियोजनासंदर्भातील कामाला लवकरच सुरूवात होणार असून त्याच्या अंमलबजावणीसाठी बुधवारी (ता. ९) महानगरपालिकेच्या छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराज प्रशासकीय इमारतीमधील आयुक्त सभागृहात प्रकल्पासाठी ‘जिका’ने नियुक्त केलेल्या कन्स्लटंटचे शिष्टमंडळ व मनपा प्रशासनात बैठक आयोजित करण्यात आली.

नाग नदी प्रदूषण निर्मूलन प्रकल्प हा नागपूरसाठी महत्त्वाकांक्षी आहे. या प्रकल्पाच्या अंमलबजावणी करिता ‘जिका’चे तांत्रिक सल्लागार प्रकल्पाची चाचणी करून चार महिने काम करणार आहेत. याबाबत मनपा प्रकल्प अंमलबजावणी कक्षाचे अधिकारी ‘जिका’ चमूला आवश्यक तांत्रिक सहकार्य करेल, असे आयुक्त अभिजीत बांगर यांनी चर्चेदरम्यान सांगतिले.
प्रकल्पाच्या सर्वेक्षणाचा अहवाल जपान सरकाला ‘जिका’ चमू सादर करणार असून त्यांच्या मंजुरीनंतर केंद्र शासन व जपान सरकार यांच्यामध्ये याबाबत करारनाम्यावर स्वाक्षरी करण्यात येईल. प्रकल्प मोठा असल्यामुळे यास कॅबिनेट काउंसिलची मान्यता घ्यावी लागू शकेल, असे तांत्रिक सल्लागार (नद्या व सरोवरे) मो. इसराईल यांनी यावेळी सांगतिले.
Nagpur: In yet another shocking incident, a woman in Nagpur killed her husband with the help of her lover and tried to portray it as a suicide. The crime branch has arrested the woman’s accomplice in the case. Manisha Pankaj Ambhore (30) was married to Pankaj Chandrakant Ambhore, who worked as a supervisor in a private company.
Manisha was reportedly an alcoholic and had an extramarital affair with one Arun Mishra. When her husband came to know about it, Manisha, along with her lover killed him on December 5, 2018, and tried to stage it as a suicide.
She admitted Pankaj in the hospital in an injured condition and told the doctors that he met with an accident. On the other hand, she told the relatives that he fell down a drain. However, she told the police that he committed suicide by stabbing himself on his head. The Police then filed a case of suicide.
After further investigation, the Police filed a case against Manisha for provoking suicide and made an arrest. Meanwhile, Pankaj’s parents demanded to file murder charges against both Manisha and her lover and requested Police Commisioner Dr Bhushankumar Upadhyay for the same. Later Upadhyay gave the case to the crime branch.
What came out during the investigation was shocking – Pankaj met Manisha and Arun to convince them to end their illicit relationship. But both of them instead attacked Pankaj with a heavy stone and hit his head hard.
Under the guidance of deputy commissioner Sambhaji Kadam, inspector Jagvinder Singh Rajput and assistant inspector Chaudhary investigated the matter further and arrested the accused after the medical officers reported Pankaj’s death was due to stone injuries.
“After a check on Arun and Manisha’s call records, it was likely that were involved in the murder. We arrested them on the basis of this,” said Kadam.
नागपुर – शहर में झूंड फिल्म की शूटिंग के दौरान बिग बी बैलगाड़ी पर बैठे और खटिया पर आराम फरमाते नजर आए। बैलगाड़ी का दृश्य रामटेक में फिल्माया गया। कुछ सीन विदर्भ के आसपास के गांवाें में शूट किए जा रहे हैं। शूट करते बिग बी ने यह भी कहा कि बड़े दिनों बाद गांव की खटिया और बैलगाड़ी पर बैठने का मौका मिला है।

नागपुर – फैशन शो में जब दिव्यांग रैम्प पर उतरे, तो पूरा परिसर तालियों की गड़गड़ाहट से गंूज उठा। दक्षिण मध्य क्षेत्र सांस्कृतिक केंद्र द्वारा परिसर में 26वां ऑरेंज सिटी क्रॉफ्ट मेले का आयोजन किया गया है। यहां प्रतिदिन खुले रंगमंच पर विभिन्न राज्यों की लोकनृत्य की प्रस्तुतियां दी जा रही हैं। एलएडी महाविद्यालय एवं एसविके शिक्षण संस्था ‘रिजनल टेक्सटाइल्स ऑफ़ इंडिया’ द्वारा यह फैशन शो प्रस्तुत किया गया। इसमें ‘दिव्यांग विद्यार्थियों द्वारा किए गए परिधान प्रदर्शन ने दर्शकों का ध्यान आकर्षित करते हुए उन्हें भावविभोर किया। केंद्र परिसर में परिसर ‘हस्त-शिल्पकला एवं स्वादिष्ट व्यंजनों के स्टाल्स’ भी लगाए गए हैं।

NAGPUR : A massive fire that broke out at an under-construction hospital in Nagpur today has been brought under control. Seven people were injured in the blaze and two of them are reported to be critical.
Thick black smoke could be seen rising from the building that is located on the Kingsway road in the city.It took at least 10 fire engines to bring the fire under control.Fire officials say the fire could have been caused by a short circuit.
“Fire is under control now, search operation is underway. The fire could have been caused due to a short circuit as construction work was underway at the building,” Fire Officer Sunil Raut told.

73rd NATCON (National Conference on Tuberculosis and Chest Diseases) was conducted in Nagpur jointly by Vidarbha chest association, Indira Gandhi Government Medical College-Nagpur, Maharashtra anti-TB association under Tuberculosis Association of India from 4th to 6th January 2019 at hotel Centre point. More than 500 delegates from India and Abroad participated in this National event. Various workshops were conducted in Nagpur as part of the conference on 4th January 2019.

Modeling Films and Dance Federation (MFDF) organized beauty pageant for Mr. ,Mrs. & Miss India 2019. In 21 cities from all over India auditions were held. 10,000 contestants gave auditions out of which 111 contestants were shortlisted as finalist.
Sanskruti Godbole from Nagpur was crowned as MFDF Miss India 2nd runner up 2019. Nagpur auditions were conducted on 2 December 2018. 10 contestants were shortlisted for finale in Mumbai. Two days grooming was provided to finalist which was done by Mr. Abhishek Joshi (Mr. World finalist) & Miss Soni Jaiswal (Dance World Cup Finalist Spain), which includes celebrity grooming which was given by Mr. Surinder Thakur (Bollywood actor) & Mr. Ramesh Goyal (Bollywood actor) on 1 January.
The grooming also included portfolio shoot , fitness sessions, reality show training and Media Event. Grand finale was conducted on 3 January in Mumbai which included two rounds. First round was walk and introduction round. On basis of first round 6 finalist from Miss India contestants were selected for final round which was question and answer round.

Nagpur : In a significant development which will boost connectivity in semi-urban areas of Nagpur, the state cabinet approved Phase-II of Nagpur Metro Project. This will particularly help those employed in industrial areas of Nagpur and have to commute long-distance daily.
The state cabinet on Tuesday cleared the Phase II of Nagpur Metro project worth Rs11,216 crore. The Phase I of Nagpur Metro worth Rs8,680 crore is being executed by MahaMetro and is about 75% complete.
Phase II covers rural parts of Nagpur district and will serve as an extension to the ongoing first phase. The proposed Phase will be spread over 48.3 km length with 35 stations. The collective population to be covered by two Phases is whopping 21.39 lakhs in 2019 (As per projections based on 2011 census). The projected population of Nagpur district in 2019 is 34.87 lakhs.
The population covered by Phase-I is 13.38 lakh and that by Phase-II is 8.01 lakh, in 2019. The Phase II of Nagpur Metro is estimated to cost about Rs 11,216 Crores.
Nagpur: The upgraded broad gauge railway line between Nagpur and Chhindwara (149km) is expected to be commissioned in June, but may partially open soon.
Decks to open it partially for 48km from Itwari-Kelwad will be cleared after inspection by AK Rai, commissioner of railway safety (CRS), South East Circle, on January 12-13.
Prior to this, on January 11, Rai will first inspect the electrified broad-gauge line between Shikara-Nainpur (65km) stations under the Nagpur division of South East Central Railway (SECR).
According to SECR’s construction wing officials,post clearance for non-electrified Itwari-Kelwad BG line, the CRS will again inspect Kelwad-Bimalgondi section of 47km next month. “With this, passenger trains can go as far as 100 kms. However, all will depend on availability of rakes,” said a senior official.
“We expect to open the entire line between Nagpur-Chhindwara before rains,” the official said.
Work on the Rs1,400 crore gauge conversion project with existing narrow-gauge line was started in 2008. However, the works were expedited only after the line was closed permanently in December 2015. Till now the SECR has spent over Rs1,200 crore on the project.
नागपूर : नागपूर शहरात अमृत योजनेचे कार्य चार टप्प्यात होणार आहे. यासंदर्भातील तांत्रिक प्रक्रिया पूर्ण झाली असून लवकरच भूमिपूजन होणार असल्याची माहिती जलप्रदाय समितीचे सभापती पिंटू झलके यांनी दिली.
नागपूर शहराला पाणीपुरवठा करणाऱ्या प्रकल्पांमधील पाण्याची सद्यस्थिती लक्षात घेता आणि उन्हाळ्यातील संभाव्य पाणी टंचाईवर उपाययोजना करण्यासाठी, पाणी वापराचे नियोजन करण्यासाठी मंगळवारी (ता. ८) मनपा मुख्यालयातील डॉ. पंजाबराव देशमुख स्मृति सभागृहात जलप्रदाय समितीच्या आढावा बैठकीचे आयोजन करण्यात आले होते.
जलप्रदाय समितीचे सभापती पिंटू झलके यांच्यासह उपसभापती श्रद्धा पाठक, सदस्य हरिश ग्वालबंशी, अतिरिक्त आयुक्त राम जोशी, कार्यकारी अभियंता (जलप्रदाय) मनोज गणवीर, जनरल मॅनेजर (ई ॲण्ड एम) दीपक चिटणीस, ओसीडब्ल्यूचे मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी संजय रॉय, निदेशक के.एम.पी. सिंह, उपनिदेशक राजेश कालरा, राहुल कुलकर्णी, वेबकॉसचे प्रकल्प व्यवस्थापक दीपांक अग्रवाल उपस्थित होते.
यावेळी सभापतींनी पाणी पुरवठ्याची सदस्यस्थिती आणि संभाव्य पाणीटंचाईवर उपाययोजनेच्या दृष्टीने झोननिहाय आढावा घेतला. अमृत योजनेची सद्यस्थिती, दूषित पाण्याचे नियोजन, उन्हाळ्यातील पाणीपुरवठ्याची स्थिती, २४ बाय ७ ची सद्यस्थिती व विस्तारीकरण, बोरवेलची दुरुस्ती व उंची वाढविण्याबाबतचे धोरण, नेटवर्क आणि नॉन नेटवर्क भागातील टँकर पुरवठा, जलाशयातील आरक्षणाची टक्केवारी तसेच टाक्यांबाबतची माहिती, रेन वॉटर हॉर्वेस्टिंग आदी विषयांचा डेलिगेटस्च्या माध्यमातून सभापती पिंटू झलके यांनी माहिती घेतली. ना दुरुस्त बोरवेल तातडीने दुरुस्त करण्याचे निर्देश त्यांनी यावेळी दिले. यावेळी संबंधित अधिकारी तसेच मनपा जलप्रदाय विभागाचे आणि ओ.सी.डब्ल्यू.चे डेलिगेट्स उपस्थित होते.
१५० वॉटर एटीएम
शहरातील लोकांना शुद्ध पाणी मिळण्यासाठी शहरात ठिकठिकाणी वॉटर एटीएम लावण्याचा प्रस्ताव आहे. यासंदर्भात आढावा बैठकीत सर्व सदस्यांच्या संमतीने ठराव घेण्यात आला. एकूण १५० वॉटर एटीएम लावण्याचा प्रस्ताव आहे. सोबतच सोसायट्यांसाठी वॉटर हेल्थ सेंटरसुद्धा सुरू करण्यात येणार आहे.
रेन वॉटर हार्वेस्टिंगचे प्रशिक्षण
भविष्यातील पाणी टंचाई लक्षात घेता भूजल पातळी वाढविण्याच्या दृष्टीने आणि पाणी साठवणुकीच्या दृष्टीने रेन वॉटर हार्वेस्टिंग बंधनकारक आहे. यासाठी जनजागृती व्हावी आणि रेन वॉटर हार्वेस्टिंग लोकांपर्यंत पोहोचावे या उद्देशाने मनपा कर्मचाऱ्यांचे प्रशिक्षण घेण्याचे निर्देश सभापती पिंटू झलके यांनी यावेळी दिले. कविवर्य सुरेश भट सभागृहात प्रशिक्षण घेऊन नंतर लोकांपर्यंत पोहोचावे, असे निर्देश त्यांनी दिले.

NAGPUR: Policemen in Nagpur found themselves in a strange situation when a young man approached them with a complaint to find his “stolen” heart. The man wanted to file a complaint stating that a girl has “stolen” his heart and the policemen should get it back.
Police personnel often get complaints about stolen goods, but this bizarre case put the police station in-charge in a fix and he contacted his superiors for advice in dealing with the matter.
The incident took place recently in one of the police stations in Nagpur, a senior official said. Superiors of the officer that the man spoke to informally discussed the issue and came to the conclusion that there is no section under Indian laws that deals with such a complaint. Finally, the policemen told the man they don’t have a solution to his problem and turned him away.
This unusual incident was shared by Nagpur Police Commissioner Bhushan Kumar Upadhyay last week during a programme where the police department returned stolen articles worth Rs. 82 lakh to their respective owners.
Interacting with the media, Mr Upadhyay, in a lighter vein, said, “We can return stolen articles, but sometimes we also get such complaints which even we cannot solve.”
Nagpur :Prisoners Education is a Universally accepted Principle to bring change in their behavior and make them academically strong, which aims at helping them to stand on their feet after their release from jail. Across the Globe, several initiatives are made in this direction.
In India also, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)has opened Special Study Centres for prisoners in jails. As a positive gesture, IGNOU has extended Free Education for Prisoners since 2010. The Self Instructional Study Material is provided to the Students. IGNOU follows Multiple Media Instruction Methodology to its students. As part of it, “Phone in Radio Counselling” Sessions are conducted for Students.
The students listen to the Radio Classes from their own places and will call the Gyan vani Studio to talk to the Teachers in the Studio and clarify their doubts or eek further clarification in the Lesson. But this Call back facility is not available for Jail Students, as they do not have access to Phones in Jail.
Even though prison radio is available in some Developed Countries, either they are managed by prisoners only and at some places “Community Radio” within the Jail premises. But No reports available about any Phone in facility available for the Prisoners, any where in the World. To circumvent this difficulty and with an Aim to provide this “Inclusive” Educational Facility to the Student Prisoners, without compromising the Jail Security issues, an Innovative and Creative Method is adopted by IGNOU Nagpur Regional Centre at Gyan Vani Nagpur.
The teacher in Studio will talk and the Student Prisoners will be provided FM Radio and they keep listening the Lesson. If they get a doubt or cannot understand a Topic, they write their doubt/point on a Paper and give it to IGNOU Jail Coordinator. Then the Jail Coordinator immediately comes to Jail Office and calls from the Office Phone to the Gyan Vani Studio and reads the doubt/point of Clarification needed by the Student Prisoners.
Then the Teacher clarifies the doubt/explains the point asked. The Student prisoners in the Jail continue to listen the Question and the Answer provided by the Teacher. In this way, the Educational Experience available to Civil Students is also made available to Prison Students also through this “MEDIATED-PHONE IN RADIO COUNSELLING” Sessions. Thus the Prisoners are also provided Equal Opportunity with Civil Students and is an example of “Inclusive Education”.
The Programme is inaugurated today by Shri Yogesh Desai, DIG, Prisons, Nagpur. In his speech he said that the Prisons Department focuses on Reformation and Rehabilitation and this is an excellent opportunity provided by IGNOU. Dr. P. Sivaswaroop, Regional Director, IGNOU Nagpur Regional Centre explained the background of this initiative and said that it will be on weekly basis and will be extended to other programs also. Smt Rani Bhonsle, Jail Superintendent, Nagpur Central Jail proposed a Vote of Thanks.
The Inaugural Session the Mediated Phone in Program, was followed by Academic Phone in Counselling by Dr. Shyam Koreti, IGNOU Academic Counsellor on the foundation course in Humanities and Social Sciences for BA-I year students. 6 Phone calls are received from the Jail.

पता हो शहर में पिछले महीने से फिल्म “झुंड” की शूटिंग चल रही है। फिल्म की शूटिंग के लिए ‘सेंट जान पाल’ स्कूल में पूरा सेट तैयार किया गया है । शूटिंग के दौरान स्कूल में किसी भी प्रकार की कोई परेशानी नहीं हुई यह बात बिग ने इस दौरान दोहराई। ‘सेंट जान पाल’ स्कूल के अलावा शहर की अन्य बस्तियों में भी फिल्म की शूटिंग की गई है।
फुटबाल कोच की भूमिका में नजर आएंगे अमिताभ बच्चन गौरतलब है कि महानायक अमिताभ बच्चन नागपुर में फिल्म निर्माता नागराज मंजुले की फिल्म ‘झुंड’ की शूटिंग कर रहे हैं । सुपरहिट मराठी फिल्म ‘सैराट’ के निर्देशक की आगामी फिल्म ‘झुंड’ में बच्चन एक फुटबाल कोच की भूमिका में नजर आएंगे जो गली-मुहल्लों के लड़कों की एक फुटबॉल टीम तैयार करते हैं।
झुंड फिल्म की कहानी शहर के फुटबॉल कोच विजय बारसे पर आधारित है। पूर्व पार्षद और हिस्लाप कालेज में शारीरिक शिक्षक रहे विजय बारसे ने शहर के गरीब और टैलेंटेड बच्चों को प्रशिक्षण देकर राष्ट्रीय स्तर के खिलाड़ी के रूप में तैयार किया है। झोपड़पट्टी से टैलेंट बाहर लाने के लिए वे कई प्रतियोगिता भी आयोजित करते रहे हैं। फिल्म की कहानी भी इसी पर आधारित है।
NAGPUR: A consortium of banks led by State Bank of India (SBI) has promised to sanction Rs 25,000 crore loan for Nagpur Mumbai Super Expressway, also known as Samruddhi Corridor, in a month.
Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis had met top bankers in Mumbai on Monday in this regard.
The latest estimates say the cost of the project is Rs 55,000 crore. Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), the executing agency, already has Rs 5,811 crore in its kitty. Of this, Rs 4,700 crore has been contributed by Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA), Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA), Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), and City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO). MSRDC has chipped in with Rs1,111 crore.
MSRDC officials said banks have agreed in principle to lend Rs 30,000 crore. “We need only Rs 28,000 crore in the next financial year. We will arrange for the rest of the money when the need arises. The state government has already spent Rs 10,000 crore on land acquisition, which is its share,” said an official.
The 704km expressway will reduce the travelling time between Nagpur and Mumbai from present 15 hours to less than eight hours. Motorists will not have to stop at a single place as MSRDC will build 300 vehicular underpasses, 400 underpasses for people and cattle, and 50 flyovers.
IPL 2019 is set to begin on March 23 and it is scheduled to take place in India.
The date for the final hasn’t be decided just yet and the tournament will clash with India’s federal elections.
“Based on the preliminary discussions with the appropriate central and state agencies/authorities, it was decided that the 12th edition of the world’s most popular and competitive T20 tournament will be scheduled to be played in India,” the BCCI said in a release.

It is proposed that the league will commence on March 23, 2019.
The detailed schedule of the tournament will be confirmed later after proper consultation with the appropriate authorities. The COA will then have detailed discussion with all the Stakeholders before releasing the IPL 2019 Schedule.
The venue of one of the most followed T20 leagues was a matter of major debate since the dates are set to clash with the general elections. It is expected that the general election are scheduled to take place in the month of May this year.
