Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has ruled out the possibility of shifting the proposed Chhatrapati Shivaji Memorial from its present location in the Arabian Sea off Mumbai coast.
On October 24, one person had died when a boat carrying 25 people capsized in the Arabian Sea off the Mumbai coast when it was heading to the site of the proposed Chhatrapati Shivaji memorial, where work was to begin that day. The tragedy has revived the demand to shift the ambitious project on land in the city.
“There is no reason for changing the location (of Shivaji memorial). The memorial will take shape at the same place. We have (already) begun the work,” Fadnavis said while interacting with select media persons Monday night.
The project has got all the requisite permissions, granted after all its aspects, including its location, were considered, he added.
Mumbai: A major fire broke out in a slum in Bandra West area of Mumbai. Initial reports suggested it is a level three fire. Nine fire engines and eight water tankers were at the spot to douse the blaze
The incident was reported at 11.50 am in Nargis Dutt Nagar slum, Mumbai’s disaster management cell said in a statement.
“A joint team of fire brigade, ward staffers and Mumbai Police personnel has been mobilised to douse the flames,” it added.
Unconfirmed reports said the fire was caused by a cooking gas cylinder blast. No information of any casualty emerged as of now.
A big cloud of smoke was seen coming out as fire fighters tried to control the fire.
Indian tennis star Sania Mirza and her Pakistani cricketer husband Shoaib Malik were blessed with a baby boy on Tuesday. Sania delivered the child on Tuesday morning in Hyderabad and both mother and child were well.

The Statue of Unity, built as a tribute to India’s first Deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 31.
The statue, built on a river island called Sadhu Bet, will be dedicated to the nation on Patel’s birth anniversary during an event in Gujarat’s Kevadiya village.
Construction of the world’s tallest statue was completed in a record time of 33 months.
The 182-metre tall statue surpasses the 153-metre Spring Temple Buddha in China and is almost twice as tall as the 93-metre Statue of Liberty in US. It has been claimed that Patel’s memorial was the quickest such statue to be completed. Construction of the structure began on December 19, 2015. China’s Spring Temple Buddha statue had taken 11 years to complete.

Bowing to sentiments of citizens of Ramtek, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari directed NHAI to locate Toll Plaza at Malegaon village on border of Nagpur District
The Toll Plaza at Mansar is finally being relocated bowing to demands of the people of Ramtek. From January 1 the toll post would start from village Malegaon as per the contract. Union Minister for Transport Nitin Gadkari directed officials of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to ensure that by New Year the toll post starts from new place. The toll post is part of Jabalpur-Nagpur highway and by-pass allows vehicles coming from Jabalpur to crossover to Hyderabad highway by-passing Nagpur city.
Ramtek’s MLA D Mallikarjun Reddy said that Gadkari gave direction during a meeting held at his office in New Delhi on Monday. Ramtek’s Member of Parliament (MP) Krupal Tumane, Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Vikas Totade, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders of district were also present.
Officials of NHAI and Oriental Structural Engineering (OSE) OSE that constructed the four lane by-pass from Malegaon till Jamatha put up the Toll Plaza at Mansar. NHAI allowed location of the toll post at the tri-junction that ensured people entering from any of the three populous villages to Ramtek need to cross the toll post. From last few years as people began to feel heat of the rising toll fees, protest started to demand shifting of toll post ahead of Mansar as per the agreement.
Nagpur : Maharashtra’s Medical Education Department has decided to come up with independent unit at Government Medical Colleges (GMCs) in Maharashtra for treating patients approaching hospital for want of immediate attention. This unit would be called EMS (Emergency Medical Service). It will be run on pilot basis at five cities in the State – Nagpur, Mumbai, Pune, Aurangabad and Dhule.
Elaborating on this issue, Maharashtra Medical Education Minister Girish Mahajan informed, “There is a staff of 540 belonging to Public Health Department. Most of them do not have work assigned from both the departments- Medical Education and Public Health. So, we will give them work of handling EMS. The EMS will have separate wards, separate Intensive Care Unit (ICU), separate diagnostic facilities in the unit itself. This EMS will take care of the patients who need emergency attention. It will be run on pilot basis. If we succeed then it will be extended to other city GMCs too.”
Action on HIMS, to be replaced
Mahajan is aware about HIMS’s connection with OPD registration so he had given the work of checking HIMS’s feasibility to Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). The TISS expressed dissatisfaction over the functioning of HIMS. There are huge losses due to HIMS that swallowed up a lot of money. The investigation is underway and present Government is likely to take action against HIMS. “We will be re-tendering the work. It will be handed over to the agency selected by our panel. We will streamline the system so that neither patients nor our staff suffers,” stated firm Mahajan.
Coupon system to be introduced
A coupon system will be brought where people would pay the money and get the coupon with a number on it. The person could sit on the chair arranged near the OPD registration counter. The number of the patient written on his or her coupon would be displayed on the digital board and patient would collect the card that would direct him or her towards the respective department.

रवि उके असे आरोपी ऑटोचालकाचे नाव असून त्याच्याविरुद्ध सीताबर्डी पोलिसांनी गुन्हा दाखल केला आहे. पीडित मुलगी मध्यप्रदेशातील चिखलाबाद-बालाघाट येथील रहिवासी आहे. तिचे आईवडील नागपुरात निर्माणाधीन इमारतीवर बांधकाम मजूर आहेत. गेल्या १० सप्टेंबरला ती आईवडिलांना भेटण्यासाठी नागपूरला आली होती. तिला इसासनीकडे जाणारा रस्ता माहीत नव्हता. त्यामुळे तिने आरोपी ऑटोचालकाला विचारणा केली. त्याने इसासनीला पोहोचवून देण्याचे आमिष दाखवले.
रात्री नऊ वाजताच्या सुमारास त्यांनी एका रेस्टॉरेंटमध्ये नाश्ता केला. दरम्यान, ऑटो डांबरी रस्ता सोडून जंगलाच्या रस्त्याने जात होता. तिने विचारणा केली असता शॉर्टकट असल्याचे सांगून जंगलात घेऊन गेला. तिला ऑटोतून उतरण्यास सांगितले. त्यानंतर चाकूच्या धाकावर तिच्यावर बलात्कार केला. आरोपीच्या तावडीतून सुटल्यानंतर ती अर्धनग्नवस्थेत पळू लागली. रस्त्यावर वाहनचालकाला ती दिसली. त्याने पोलिसांना माहिती दिली. आरोपीचा शोध सुरू आहे.

गेल्या पाच दिवसांपासून पीडित मुलगी बेपत्ता आहे. तिच्या आईवडिलांचा अद्याप पत्ता लागलेला नसून पोलिसांनी तिला तिच्या नातेवाईकांकडे ठेवण्याचा प्रयत्न केला. मात्र, नातेवाईक तिला ठेवायला तयार नाहीत. त्यामुळे पोलिसांनी तिला महिला सुधारगृहात दाखल केले.
Mumbai : Senior composer and lyricist Yashwant Dev passed away in Mumbai early this morning. He was 92. He was admitted to hospital and undergoing treatment for chikungunya. His last rites will be performed at Dadar in Mumbai this evening.
He had composed and written many popular Marathi songs. He was honored with many awards including Gan-samradni Lata Mangeshkar Award and Gadima puraskar. He had also served in Music section of All India Radio, Mumbai.
The cost of the Mumbai-Nagpur Super-communication Expressway has risen by nearly Rs 10,000 crore since the project was mooted nearly three years ago, according to information available from the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation which is executing the project.
Officials say the project is estimated to cost Rs 55,335 crore as against the original estimates of Rs 46,000 crore. The MSRDC began work on the project earlier this month and the entire project is expected to be completed in 36 months.
The 701-km expressway will comprise eight lane roads and will have optical cable fibres running beneath to provide broadband connectivity to IT townships coming alongside.
“The Maharashtra government has acquired 85 per cent of the 10,463 hectares of land required for the project,” Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said recently.
The expressway is divided into 16 sections and various companies are developing these sections.

नागपुर : नागपुर के खापरखेड़ा टी-पॉइंट के पास हुई एक और सड़क दुर्घटना में चार लोग घायल हो गए। बता दें कि पिछले दो दिनों में यह दूसरी सड़क दुर्घटना है जिसमें पुलिस पेट्रोलिंग कार क्षतिग्रस्त हुई है। कैम्पटी क्षेत्र में रविवार को सुरक्षाकर्मी पेट्रोलिंग कर रहे थे तभी एक तेज रफ्तार कार ने उनकी पेट्रोलिंग कार में टक्कर मार दी। इस घटना में तीन सुरक्षाकर्मियों रविकांत बुंद, सुरेंद्र लांबसोगे और अनिल बोराडे को गंभीर चोटें आई हैं। कार एयरबैग से लैस था जिसकी वजह से ड्राइवर राजन उर्फ बाबला बच गया और उसे मामूली चोटें आई हैं।
सूत्रों के मुताबिक, कई पुलिस पेट्रोलिंग वाहन इतने ज्यादा पुराने हो चुके हैं कि उनमें सुरक्षा संबंधी कोई भी चीज जैसे कि एयरबैग उपलब्ध नहीं है। इस घटना के बारे में बुंद ने कंट्रोल रूम में जानकारी दी, जिसके बाद एक अन्य वाहन मौके पर पहुंचा और घायलों को अस्पताल पहुंचाया गया।

The Delhi government has issued a legal notice to the director, producers and actors of the just released Hindi movie Badhaai Ho seeking removal of smoking scenes and promotion of tobacco products, an official said on Sunday.
S.K. Arora, Additional Director (Public Health) and State Tobacco Control Officer, said there were a number of scenes in Badhaai Ho where the characters can be seen smoking. Tobacco brand promotion was also shown.
This, he said, violated Section 5 of Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) Act, 2003 (COTPA).
There are repeated scenes of smoking and of a tobacco shop. There are scenes displaying brands of tobacco products. The brand promotion of tobacco products direct and indirect are banned under section 5 of COTPA. Our legal notice is based on these things,” Arora told IANS.
“The legal notice to the director, producers and actors of Badhaai Ho has been issued because there has been promotion of a tobacco brand as well as surrogate advertisement repeatedly. We demand the immediate removal of these scenes from the film,” he added. It is not the first time the Delhi Health Department has urged Bollywood to axe scenes.
“We wrote to Bollywood a number of times regarding this. Bollywood stars and films are role models for youngsters. The youngsters follow their habits and copy it blindly. Bollywood should decide to think on moral grounds and should feel responsible for the people. The script can always be changed for the interest of the public,” he added. In the past, the Department had issued notices to Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar and Akshaye Khanna among others.
“Akshay Kumar, on one hand, advertises for health awareness campaigns and in Gold movie, he was seen smoking repeatedly. These things can be avoided. The script can be changed,” Arora added. The Act also prohibits the selling of videotapes containing the advertisement of cigarettes or any other tobacco products.
“No person shall take part in any advertisement which directly or indirectly suggests or promotes the use or consumption of cigarettes or any other tobacco products.” Amit Sharma’s Badhai Ho, starring Ayushmann Khurrana, released on October 18.
The Lion Air flight that crashed Monday morning into Indonesian seas was commanded by Indian pilot Bhavye Suneja.
A total of 189 passengers and crew were aboard the plane that took off from Jakarta and went missing minutes later. The rescue operations are still underway and officials have no information on survivors as of now.
According to Suneja’s LinkedIn profile, he belongs to New Delhi and is associated with the airline since March 2011. Earlier, he was a trainee pilot with Emirates for three months. The 31-year-old captain had received his pilot licence from Bel Air International in 2009.

नवी दिल्ली: संपूर्ण देशाचे लक्ष लागून राहिलेल्या अयोध्येतील रामजन्मभूमी-बाबरी मशीद खटल्याची सुनावणी सोमवारी सर्वोच्च न्यायालयात पार पडली. आजच्या सुनावणीत न्यायालय खटल्याच्या पुढील तारखा निश्चित करेल, अशी अपेक्षा होती. परंतु, न्यायालयाने ही सुनावणी थेट जानेवारी महिन्यापर्यंत पुढे ढकलली आहे. त्याचवेळी खटल्याच्या पुढील तारखा निश्चित करण्यात येतील, असे न्यायालयाने स्पष्ट केले. सरन्यायाधीश रंजन गोगोई, न्यायमूर्ती एस.के. कौल आणि के.एम. जोसेफ यांच्या खंडपीठापुढे ही सुनावणी झाली. आगामी लोकसभा निवडणुकांच्या पार्श्वभूमीवर या खटल्याचा निकाल अत्यंत महत्त्वपूर्ण मानला जात आहे. भाजपकडून हा निकाल लवकर लागावा, यासाठी जोरदार प्रयत्न केले जात आहेत. वेळ पडल्यास राम मंदिराच्या उभारणीसाठी केंद्र सरकारने कायदा करावा, असे मत अनेक भाजपच्या अनेक नेत्यांनी व्यक्त केले आहे.

नागपूर : मुख्यमंत्र्यांच्या मतदारसंघात रविवारी आयोजित करण्यात आलेल्या अटल आरोग्य महाशिबिरात तपासणीसाठी आलेल्या एका व्यक्तीचा हृदयविकाराने मृत्यू झाला. डॉ. पंजाबराव देशमुख कृषी विद्यापीठ परिसरात आयोजित या शिबिरात दुपारी साडेबाराच्या सुमारास ही घटना घडली. विजय रामदास कांबळे (वय 45, रा. जगदीशनगर) असे या युवकाचे नाव आहे. महाशिबिरात तज्ज्ञ डॉक्टर उपस्थित असताना त्यांच्यापर्यंत माहिती न पोहोचल्याने कुणीही त्याच्या मदतीसाठी येऊ शकले नाही.
विजयवर काही दिवसांपासून सुपर स्पेशालिटी हॉस्पिटलमध्ये उपचार सुरू होते. एका कार्यकर्त्याच्या सांगण्यावरून तो शिबिरात तपासणीसाठी कॅथेटर लागलेल्या अवस्थेत आला होता. तपासणीसाठी आल्यानंतर तो एका खुर्चीत बसला. यावेळी अचानक हृदयविकाराचा झटका आल्याने त्याच्या हृदयाची क्रिया मंदावली. तो जागेवर कोसळताच परिसरातील काही डॉक्टरांनी छातीवर दाब देऊन त्याची हृदयक्रिया पुन्हा सुरू करण्याचा प्रयत्न केला. पंधरा ते 20 मिनिटे सीपीआर देण्याचा प्रयत्न केला. शिबिराचे उद्घाटन करून मुख्यमंत्री निघून गेल्यानंतर काहीच वेळात ही घटना घडली.
त्याला वाचविण्याची धडपड सुरू असताना रुग्णवाहिका उपलब्ध करून देण्यासाठी कार्यकर्त्यांनी फोन केला. एक रुग्णवाहिका आली, परंतु ती बंद पडली. बराच वेळ निघून गेल्यानंतर आलेल्या दुसऱ्या रुग्णवाहिकेतून विजयला मेडिकलमध्ये उपचारासाठी रवाना करण्यात आले. मात्र, मेडिकलच्या मेडिसिन कॅज्युअल्टीमध्ये मुख्य वैद्यकीय अधिकारी यांनी मृत घोषित केले. घटनास्थळी किंवा वाटेतच विजयचा मृत्यू झाल्याचे वैद्यकीय सूत्रांनी सांगितले.
अटल आरोग्य महाशिबिरात राज्यभरातून हृदयरोगतज्ज्ञ आले. परंतु, कोणालाही या घटनेची खबरबात नव्हती. उपस्थित हृदयरोगतज्ज्ञांपर्यंत विजयच्या प्रकृतीची माहिती पोचली नाही. शिबिराच्या स्थळापासून जवळच मेडिट्रिना हॉस्पिटल आहे. तेथे त्याला का नेले नाही, अशीही चर्चा येथे होती.

Speaking on the occasion Rajesh Zanzad, Chief Engineer assured that truck terminus would be effectively maintained, CCTV would be installed at vital points, anti-encroachment drive would be taken up on regular basis, major roads would be of cement concrete and more particularly ‘Theme Bases.’ Roads adjacent with colourful flowers would be made in Butibori Industrial Area. He further said that suitable traffic islands would be made, street lights would of LED and additional water supply scheme at Nirgudi is under planning. Meeting was attended by all senior officers from Nagpur Division and Butibori Sub Division. Representatives from major industrial houses like Reliance Power, IVRCL, Snehal Pharma, Premier Irrigation, SMS Group were present on the occasion. Vote of thanks was proposed by CA Milind Kanade.

The trainees at the fitness center were eagerly waiting for the fitness trainer of Aamir Khan and Hrithik Roshan to visit them As soon as Chaurasia, who is widely known as Chintu in the city, stepped in, everyone was awestruck and thronged him to him.

Karwa Chauth or Karva Chauth is a significant festival for Hindu women who are married or are of marriageable age. It is a reflection of the rich Indian culture and value systems ingrained in the society. It adds to the rich values of selflessness, social and moral ethics of India.
They observe a day-long nirjala fast (without food or water) for the safety and long life of their husbands. Unmarried women celebrate this festival for their prospective grooms. They break the fast only after offering prayers to the moon.

This stanza is sung 6 times. It is repeated till all the thalis (plates) has been through each other hand in the circle and everyone has their own thali.

इस स्पर्धा मे बैंगलोर, दिल्ली, मुम्बई, चेन्नई, कोईम्बतूर, हैदराबाद, पूना, कोलकता और भोपाल आदी शहरों से विविध प्रजाती के श्वानों को शामिल किया गया। जिसमे डेंजर डॉग, क्यूट पग, पोमेलियन, जर्मन शेफर्ड, डाबरमेन, लेब्राडोर, जैसे आदि जाती के श्वानो ने अपने मालिकों के साथ प्रदर्शन किया ।

नवी दिल्ली: नेहमीच, घरोघरी दिसणारी टीव्ही च्या रिमोटवरून होणारी भांडणं तशी काही नवीन नाहीत. नवरा-बायको आणि भावंडांमध्ये ती नेहमीच होतात. पण, अशाच एका भांडणाला दुर्दैवी वळण लागल्याची घटना दिल्ली येथे घडली आहे. भावाशी रिमोटवरून भांडण झालं म्हणून एका 12 वर्षीय मुलीने गळफास लावून आत्महत्या केली आहे.
ही घटना दिल्लीच्या सीलमपूर येथे घडली. २४ ऑक्टोबर रोजी सायंकाळच्या सुमारास आई-वडिलांच्या गैरहजेरीत ही मुलगी आणि तिचा 7 वर्षांचा भाऊ टीव्ही बघत होते. तिला तिचा आवडता कार्यक्रम बघायचा होता, म्हणून तिने त्याच्याकडे रिमोट मागितला. मात्र, भावाने तिला रिमोट देण्यास नकार दिला. त्यावरून त्या दोघांचं भांडण सुरू झालं. त्यांच्या भांडणाचा आवाज ऐकून शेजारच्या खोलीत अभ्यास करणारा त्या दोघांचा मोठा भाऊ बाहेर आला. त्याने मध्ये पडत भांडण सोडवलं आणि पुन्हा असं करण्याबद्दलही बजावलं. तासाभराने मुलीने पुन्हा भावाकडे रिमोट मागून पाहिला. पण तेव्हाही त्याने तिला रिमोट दिला नाही. त्यावर चिडलेल्या मुलीने त्याला थोबाडीत मारलं आणि ती आपल्या खोलीत निघून गेली. बहिणीने मारल्यामुळे त्याचं प्रत्युत्तर देण्यासाठी लहान भाऊही तिच्यापाठी धावला.
मात्र, तोपर्यंत मुलीने खोलीचं दार बंद केलं होतं. तिने दार उघडावं म्हणून त्याने दार वाजवून पाहिलं. तिला हाकाही मारल्या. पण बराच वेळ तिने दार उघडलं नाही. त्यामुळे त्याने हा प्रकार मोठ्या भावाला सांगितला. मोठ्या भावाने मोठ्या प्रयत्नांनी तिच्या खोलीचा दरवाजा उघडला तेव्हा ती गळफास घेतलेल्या अवस्थेत पंख्याशी लटकत होती. त्याने ताबडतोब तिला खाली उतरवलं आणि आई-वडिलांना या घटनेची माहिती देत तिला रुग्णालयात दाखल केलं. तिथे तीन दिवसांनी मुलीचा मृत्यू झाला. या प्रकरणी अपघाती मृत्युची नोंद झाली असून अधिक तपास सुरू आहे.
New Delhi : Brand consultant Suhel Seth, accused of sexual harassment by several women in the #MeToo campaign in India, will no longer work with the Tata Group after his contract ends next month.
Tata Sons, the holding company of the Tata Group, has decided to end its contract with Suhel Seth after reviewing its association with the consultant after allegations of sexual misconduct.
“Counselage’s contract with Tata Sons will end on November 30, 2018,” said a Tata Sons spokesperson.
The company decided to prematurely end the contract with Suhel Seth’s firm Counselage with a month’s notice. The company had stopped engaging with Counselage since the allegations emerged, they added.
Mr Seth has been named by six women including model Diandra Soares, filmmaker Natasha Rathore and writer Ira Trivedi.

October is the international month for breast cancer awareness, and in this regard a Pink Ribbon Walk was organised in Nagpur to spread awareness about the disease. The walk was flagged off by mayor Nanda Jichkar and over a thousand people took part in the initiative.

JAKARTA: A LION Air jet has crashed into the ocean after taking off from Indonesia’s capital of Jakarta.
The plane — with a seating capacity of 210 — lost radio contact just 13 minutes into the flight which was headed to Pangkal Pinang, an island east of Sumatra.
The aircraft disappeared near Karawang in West Java province, said Yusuf Latif, a spokesman for the National Search and Rescue Agency confirmed.
According to Reuters, Lion Air flight JT610 requested to return to base, with air traffic control losing contact with the pilots after approving the request.
Indonesia transport ministry official says it was carrying 189 people — including two infants and its crew.

यावेळी मुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस म्हणाले, आज शाश्वत विकासाची रुजवणूक करण्याची आवश्यकता आहे. वातावरणाच्या बदलावर आपण कोणतिही कारवाई न केल्यास येत्या १० ते २० वर्षात जगाचे तापमान २ अंशाने वाढणार आहे. त्यामुळे पूर्णत: नैसर्गिक समतोल ढासळेल. नुकत्याच पॅरिस येथे झालेल्या बैठकीमध्ये पंतप्रधान नरेंद्र मोदी यांनीही शाश्वत विकासाबाबत खंबीर भूमिका मांडली. पंतप्रधानांनी शाश्वत विकासाचे काही संदर्भ स्वीकारून २०३० पर्यंत भारत यामध्ये पुढाकार घेईल, असेही त्यांनी स्पष्ट केले. त्यादृष्टीने आपण काम करणे आवश्यक आहे. १८व्या महाराष्ट्र महापौर परिषदेच्या निमित्ताने शाश्वत विकास या विषयावर चर्चा होणे अभिनंदनीय आहे, असेही मुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस म्हणाले.
सिवरेजच्या ‘नागपूर मॉडेल’चा स्वीकार करा
आज नागपूरमध्ये महाराष्ट्र राज्य विद्युत मंडळाला सांडपाणी दिल्याने त्यातून नागपूर महानगरपालिकेला चांगले उत्पन्न मिळत आहे. केंद्रीय मंत्री नितीन गडकरी यांच्या पुढाकारातून निर्माण झालेल्या या ‘नागपूर सिवरेज मॉडेल’चा प्रत्येक महानगरपालिकेने स्वीकार करावा, असे आवाहनही यावेळी मुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस यांनी केले. सांडपाण्यातून वीज निर्मिती शक्य असल्याने मुंबईसारख्या शहरात समुद्राला जोडलेल्या सिवरेज लाईन बंद करून त्याचा उपयोग करून मनपाला नफा कमविता येईल. प्रत्येक शहराचा विकास आराखडा हा त्या शहराचा मार्गदर्शक अहवाल असतो. प्रत्येकाने त्याचा अभ्यास करून त्यावर चर्चा करणे आवश्यक आहे. महानगरपालिकांसाठी केंद्र व राज्य सरकारच्या अनेक योजना कार्यरत आहेत. त्याचा उपयोग घेता यायला हवा. महानगरपालिकांना आधी वेगवेगळ्या प्रकारे मदत करण्यात येणारा निधी १२०० कोटी होता तो वाढून आता ३२०० कोटी करण्यात आला आहे, असेही मुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस यांनी सांगितले.
कार्यक्रमात महाराष्ट्र महापौर परिषदेच्यावतीने मुख्यमंत्र्यांना महापौरांच्या अधिकारवाढीबाबत निवेदन सादर करण्यात आले. या निवेदनाचे समर्थन करताना मुख्यमंत्री म्हणाले, कोणत्या स्थानिक स्वराज्य संस्थांची प्रशासन व लोकप्रतिनिधी ही दोन महत्त्वाची चाके आहेत व त्यांनी एकत्र येऊन काम करणे यातच विकासाचे गमक आहे. प्रत्येकांनी आपापले अधिकार, क्षमता व मर्यादा समजून घेणे आवश्यक आहे. ते समजून घेतल्यास आपल्याला आपल्याच अधिकाराचा अमर्याद वापर करता येतो. महापौरांना जादाचे वित्तीय अधिकार हवे असल्यास त्यांनी नियमीत निधी पेक्षा अतिरिक्त निधी जमा केल्यास शासनातर्फे त्याचा १० टक्के थेट महापौर निधीमध्ये जमा करण्यात येईल, असेही मुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस यांनी यावेळी आश्वस्त केले.
उत्पन्न वाढीची उदासीनता सोडा, संसाधनांचा वापर वाढवा : केंद्रीय मंत्री नितीन गडकरी
महानगरपालिकांमध्ये ९० टक्के वेळ हा खर्च कसा करायचा यावर जातो. उत्पन्न घेऊन निधी कसा वाढेल हा कोणत्याही महानगरपालिकेचा अजेंडाच नाही. आपल्याकडे उपलब्ध संसाधनावरूनही आपण उत्पन्न मिळवू शकतो तशी तयारी मात्र महानगरपालिकांनी ठेवणे आवश्यक आहे. डांबराचे रस्ते तयार करताना त्यामध्ये टाकाऊ प्लास्टिक, टाकाऊ रबर व काचेचे पावडर मिश्रित केल्यास आपला कचऱ्याचा प्रश्नही सुटेल. डांबराचे दर ४५ रुपये प्रति किलो आहे तर टाकाऊ कचऱ्याचा दर १२ रुपये प्रति किलो आहे. रस्त्याच्या डांबरामध्ये हा कचरा मिश्रित केल्यास आपला बराच पैसाही वाचेल या दृष्टीने विचार केल्यास मनपाचे उत्पन्नही वाढेल, असा मंत्र केंद्रीय मंत्री नितीन गडकरी यांनी दिला.
प्रत्येक महानगरपालिकेमध्ये घनकचरा व सांडपाणी व्यवस्थापन अत्यंत आवश्यक आहे. या गोष्टींना आपण सर्वात शेवटी ठेवतो, मात्र आपल्या शहराच्या शाश्वत विकासासाठी या गोष्टींनाच प्राधान्य देण्याची गरज आहे, असेही केंद्रीय मंत्री नितीन गडकरी म्हणाले. आज मनपाकडे निधीची कमतरता आहे म्हणून ओरड होते. नागपूर मेट्रोला नागपूर महानगरपालिकेकडून रक्कम द्यायची आहे. मात्र निधी नसल्याने त्यावर सुद्धा उपाय शोधून काढण्यात आला आहे. शहरातील मोठे मार्केट मेट्रोला देऊन ते अद्ययावत करून त्यातून मनपाला २५० ते ३०० कोटी वर्षाला उत्पन्न घेता येईल. मेट्रोचे स्टेशन नागपूर शहराचे विकासाचे शिलेदार ठरणार आहे, असेही केंद्रीय मंत्री गडकरी म्हणाले. शहरातील नागरिकांना कमी पैशामध्ये उत्तम प्रवास साधन व प्रदुषणमुक्त जीवन द्यायचे असेल तर, इलेक्ट्रॉनिक सार्वजनिक वाहनांची गरज आहे. सौर ऊर्जेच्या मार्फत आज सुरेश भट सभागृहात पाच हजार रुपयांमध्ये कार्यक्रमासाठी सभागृह उपलब्ध करून दिले जात आहे. काही ना काही मार्ग काढून जनतेचे जीवन सुकर होईल, हा एक उद्देश डोळ्यासमोर सदैव ठेवा. आपले शहर स्वच्छ व सुंदर करून जनतेला शाश्वत विकास मिळवून द्या, असा मंत्रही केंद्रीय मंत्री नितीन गडकरी यांनी यावेळी उपस्थित महापौरांना दिला.
स्वागत भाषणात महापौर नंदा जिचकार यांनी शहरातील विविध विकास कामांची माहिती दिली. महाराष्ट्र महापौर परिषदेचे अध्यक्ष विश्वनाथ महाडेश्वर यांनी प्रास्ताविक केले. कार्यक्रमाचे संचालन ज्येष्ठ नगरसेवक दयाशंकर तिवारी यांनी केले तर आभार परिषदेचे कार्याध्यक्ष रणजित चव्हाण यांनी मानले. यानंतर सर्व महापौरांची बैठक झाली. यामध्ये त्यांनी शाश्वत विकासासंदर्भात मंथन केले. मुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस यांनी भाषणादरम्यान सांगितलेल्या मुद्यांवरही चर्चा केली. या बैठकीत काही ठरावही संमत करण्यात आले. महापौर परिषदेत सहभागी झालेल्या महापौरांचा सत्कार नागपूरच्या महापौर नंदा जिचकार यांच्या हस्ते यावेळी करण्यात आला.
‘सारथी’, ‘महापौर’चे प्रकाशन
महानगरपालिकांमध्ये महिलांच्या उत्थानासाठी असलेल्या निधीचा वापर कशा प्रकारे करावा यावर आधारीत ‘सारथी’ पुस्तकाचे प्रकाशन मुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस, केंद्रीय मंत्री नितीन गडकरी यांच्या हस्ते करण्यात आले. अखिल भारतीय स्थानिक स्वराज्य संस्था व महाराष्ट्र महापौर परिषदेचे संयोजक लक्ष्मणराव लटके हे या पुस्तकाचे लेखक आहेत. महापौर नंदा जिचकार यांच्या महापौर पदाच्या कार्यकर्तृत्वाचा आढावा घेणाऱ्या ‘महापौर’ या पुस्तकाचे प्रकाशनही यावेळी मुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस आणि केंद्रीय मंत्री नितीन गडकरी यांच्या हस्ते करण्यात आले.
१९ महापौरांची उपस्थिती
नागपुरात पहिल्यांदाच होत असलेल्या महाराष्ट्र महापौर परिषदेला राज्यातील १९ महापौरांनी उपस्थिती दर्शविली व शहरातील विविध विकास कामांची पाहणी केली. परिषदेचे अध्यक्ष व बृहन्मुंबई महानगरपालिकेचे महापौर प्राचार्य विश्वनाथ महाडेश्वर यांच्यासह पनवेलच्या महापौर कविता चौतमोल, मिरा भाईंदरच्या महापौर डिंपल मेहता, सांगली मिरज कुपवाडच्या महापौर संगीता खोत, चंद्रपूरच्या महापौर अंजली घोटेकर, अमरावतीचे महापौर संजय नरवणे, लातूरचे महापौर सुरेश पवार, सोलापूरच्या महापौर शोभा बनशेट्टी, पिंपरी-चिंचवडचे महापौर राहुल जाधव, मालेगावचे महापौर शेख रशीद शेख शफी, भिवंडी निजामपूरचे महापौर जावेद गुलाम मोहम्मद दळवी, नाशिकच्या महापौर रंजना भानसी, नवी मुंबईचे महापौर जयवंत सुतार, परभणीच्या महापौर मिना बरपुडकर, जळगावच्या महापौर सीमा भोळे, कोल्हापूरच्या महापौर शोभा बोंदे, वसई विरारचे महापौर रूपेश सुदाम जाधव, पुण्याच्या महापौर मुक्ता टिळक, अकोल्याचे महापौर विजय अग्रवाल प्रामुख्याने परिषदेला उपस्थित होते.
शहरातील विकास कामांची महापौरांनी केली पाहणी
राज्यातील १९ वेगवेगळ्या शहरातून आलेल्या सर्व महापौरांनी यावेळी शहरातील विविध स्थळांना भेट देऊन शहरातील विकास कामांची माहिती जाणून घेतली. नागपूर शहरात स्वनियंत्रण प्रणालीद्वारे नागरिकांची सुरक्षा राखणा-या मनपा मुख्यालयातील ‘सिटी ऑपरेशन सेंटर’ला यावेळी महापौरांनी भेट दिली. शहरात विविध ठिकाणी सिग्नलवर लागलेल्या सीसीटीव्ही कॅमेऱ्यांमुळे शहरात राखली जाणारी सुरक्षा, वेळीच गरजूंना केली जाणारी मदत व नैसर्गिक आपत्तीच्यावेळी करण्यात आलेल्या सुरक्षेची संपूर्ण माहिती व्हिडीओच्या माध्यमातून नागपूर स्मार्ट ॲण्ड सस्टेनेबल सिटी डेव्हलपमेंट कॉर्पोरेशनचे मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी डॉ. रामनाथ सोनवने यांनी यावेळी दिली. यानंतर सर्व मान्यवरांनी देशातील सर्वात मोठे सांस्कृतिक सभागृह म्हणून नावारुपास आलेल्या रेशीमबाग येथील कविवर्य सुरेश भट सभागृहाला भेट दिली. नागपूर महानगरपालिकेचे मुख्य अभियंता मनोज तालेवार यांनी सभागृहातील वैशिष्ट्यांची विस्तृत माहिती दिली. डॉ. बाबासाहेब आंबेडकरांनी १४ ऑक्टोबर १९५६ ला बौद्ध धम्माची दीक्षा घेऊन जगाचे लक्ष वेधलेल्या दीक्षाभूमीला सुद्धा यावेळी सर्व महापौरांनी भेट दिली. देशातील सर्वात मोठे स्तूप म्हणून ख्याती असलेल्या दीक्षाभूमीबाबत विस्तृत माहिती यावेळी जाणून घेतली. नागपूरवासीयांसाठी प्रेरणास्थळ असलेल्या व शहराच्या सौंदर्यात भर घालणाऱ्या स्वामी विवेकानंद स्मारकाला भेट देऊन याबद्दलची माहिती महापौरांनी जाणून घेतली.
नागपूर : दक्षिण-पश्चिम मतदारसंघातील नागरिकांसाठी अटल आरोग्य महाशिबिराच्या माध्यमातून आयोजित आरोग्यदायी महायज्ञात 42 हजारांवर गरीब व गरजू रुग्णांवर औषधोपचार करण्यात आले. डोळ्यांच्या विकार असलेल्या सर्वाधिक रुग्णांची नोंद झाली. याशिवाय फिजिओथेरपीसाठी आलेल्या 243 रुग्णांची नोंदही शिबिरात झाली.

उद्घाटन होण्यापूर्वीच सकाळी साडेनऊ वाजतापासून रुग्णांच्या नोंदणीला सुरुवात झाली. दिवसभरात 42 हजार 155 रुग्णांची नोंदणी झाली. विविध शस्त्रक्रियांची गरज असलेल्या रुग्णांवर मेडिकल किंवा संबंधित धर्मादाय तसेच खासगी रुग्णालयात टप्प्या-टप्प्याने शस्त्रक्रिया करण्यात येतील. नेत्रविकाराचे आठ हजार 975 जणांची तपासणी करण्यात आली. यातील एक हजार 827 व्यक्तींमध्ये नेत्रदोष आढळला. यांना लवकरच चष्म्याचे वितरण करण्यात येतील. मेडिसीन विभागाच्या स्टॉलवर सात हजार 125 रुग्णांची नोंद झाली. हाडाशी संबंधित विकाराच्या सात हजार 777 रुग्णांनी स्टॉलवर उपचार घेतले. आयुर्वेदाच्या स्टालवर तीन हजार 795 रुग्णांनी उपचार घेतले.
शिबिरामध्ये विविध पॅथींच्या 750 डॉक्टरांकडून सेवा देण्यात आली. सुमारे पाचशेवर परिचारिका, आरोग्यसेविका, आशा वर्कर यांनी मदत केली. ऍलोपॅथी, आयुर्वेद, होमिओपॅथीचे सुमारे 80 बाह्यरुग्ण विभाग होते.
