New Delhi : India has shown a tremendous accomplishment in the latest Doing Business Report (DBR, 2019) which is being released by the World Bank. Taking a good leap from its previous position of 100th rank that it has acquired in 2017, India scored great this year securing 77th ranking in the report, among 190 countries assessed by the World Bank. With this new progress in the rankings, made a jump of 23 positions and this in itself is a big achievement for the nation.
The report states, “With 13 reforms between them, China and India — two of the world’s largest economies — are among the 10 top improvers.”
Speaking about the Doing Business Report prepared by the World Bank, India’s finance minister Arun Jaitley says, “Ease of doing business is to maximise the governance with minimum government personnel and procedures.”

नवी दिल्ली: ऐन दिवाळीच्या काळात अनुदानित आणि विनाअनुदानित एलपीजी सिलिंडरचे दर वाढले आहेत. इंडियन ऑईल कॉर्पोरेशनकडून (आयओसीएल) पत्रक जारी करून यासंदर्भात माहिती देण्यात आली. त्यानुसार अनुदानित सिलिंडरची किंमत २.९४ रूपये तर विनाअनुदानित सिलिंडरची किंमत ६० रुपयांनी वाढणार आहे. बुधवारी मध्यरात्रीपासून ही दरवाढ लागू झाली. त्यामुळे ऐन सणासुदीच्या काळात सामान्यांच्या खिशाला फटका बसणार आहे.
आंतरराष्ट्रीय किंमती आणि परकीय चलनातील चढ-उतारांमुळे या किंमती वाढल्याचे स्पष्टीकरण ‘आयओसीएल’कडून देण्यात आले. सिलिंडरवरच्या करामुळे या किमती वाढल्या असून आधार मूल्यातही बदल होणार आहे. अनुदानित घरगुती सिलिंडरचे किंमत जूनपासून आतापर्यंत सहाव्यांदा वाढली आहे.
तेव्हापासून आतापर्यंत या सिलिंडरच्या किमतीत १४.१३ रुपयांची वाढ नोंदवली गेली आहे. नव्या रचनेनुसार, आता अनुदानित एलपीजी सिलेंडरसाठी ५०५.३४ रुपये मोजावे लागतील. तर विनाअनुदानित एलपीजी सिलेंडरसाठी ८८० रुपये मोजावे लागणार आहेत. मात्र, समाधानाची बाब इतकीच की घरगुती सिलेंडरसाठी सरकारकडून देण्यात आलेल्या अनुदानाची रक्कमही वाढवण्यात आली आहे. त्यानुसार, आता ग्राहकांच्या बँक खात्यात ४३३.६६ रुपयांचे अनुदान जमा होईल.
Nagpur : The Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) on Wednesday demolished 11 illegal religious structures in East Nagpur.
As per an order of the Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court, the NIT and NMC are demolishing illegal religious structures on roads, footpaths and government-owned lands. While the NIT has continued with the drive, there has been no action by the Nagpur Municipal Corpoartion (NMC) since last few days.
A team comprising NIT executive engineer Sanjay Chimurkar, divisional officer Bharat Mundle, junior engineer Dipak Dakhate, CD Kangane, head of enforcement department Manohar Patil, with the help of Nandavan police, demolished Durga temple, Santoshi Mata temple, Annapurna temple, two Nagoba temples, two Hanuman temples, Nageshwar temple, Ganpati mandir, Panchsheel Dwaj-Buddha Vihar and a Durga temple, all at Wathoda.

Nagpur : Before leaving for the third edition of Junior Sqay World Championship, Saanya Pillai had promised to return with the gold medal.
A week later, the 14-year-old Saanya lived up to her promise and clinched the yellow metal in the prestigious three-day meet, organized by the World Martial Art Union in Korea.
Competing with 170 participants from 19 countries, Saanya rose to the occasion in style and brought laurels to the region. In the U-17 (below 54-kg) category, Saanya overcame the tough challenge from her Korean opponent to claim the gold medal.
While interacting with the media, Saanya said, “The inal against Korean girl was the toughest bout. I relied on my techniques and emerge victorious. The flexibility and kicking of the opponents were quite good. We watched their game and progressed accordingly.”
Nagpur : The Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court had set aside the election of BJP MLA Rajesh Kashiwar from Sakoli Assembly constituency in Bhandara district on the ground that he was a government contractor on the day of filing nomination for the election. The ruling came on a petition filed by former Congress MLA Sevak Waghaye, who had challenged the election immediately after Kashiwar was declared elected as the winner on October 19, 2014.
Waghaye, who also contested in the election, had cited four works, construction of enclosure for tiger cubs in Pench Tiger Reserve, Samaj Bhavan on Warthi road, Bhandara, renovation/construction of museum building at Koradi and extension and renovation of Metro Blood Bank at Daga Memorial Hospital in Nagpur as “ongoing” contracts the Kashiwar had undertaken as PWD Class IV contractor, when he had filed his nomination papers on September 27, 2014.
Another fact that was also placed on record was that Kashiwar had got his contractors licence cancelled by the PWD on October 22, 2014. Waghaye had argued that although Kashiwar had received completion certificate for the work, the repair and maintenance part of the contract had continued for one to two years, extending beyond the nominating filing date. He also pointed out that part of Kashiwar’s security deposits in the first, second and forth works were returned by the PWD in June 2015, May 2016 and September 2015 which proved s that the contract had subsistence art the time of filing papers.
Kashiwar had argued that since Waghaye didn’t file his objection before scrutiny of papers on September 29, 2014, his plea shouldn’t be entertained. He had also argued that since no repair or maintenance notice was ever issued to him for the aforesaid works, it shouldn’t be considered as continuation of contact. He further pleaded that since Waghaye hadn’t appeared in the witness box to defend what he had stated in his affidavit to the court, his claims shouldn’t be treated as evidence. The bench comprising Justice A S Chandurka, however, upheld Waghaye’s contention to rule that Kashiwar was a government contractor at the time of filing nominating papers, which was a violation of the above Act and hence his election was being set aside.
नागपूर : प्रियकराशी वाद झाल्यानंतर प्रेयसीने रागाच्या भरात गळफास घेऊन आत्महत्या केली. ही घटना बुधवारी उघडकीस आली. खुशबू मेश्राम (वय 17) असे आत्महत्या करणाऱ्या तरूणीचे नाव आहे.
पोलिसांनी दिलेल्या माहितीनुसार, खुशबू हिचे वडील काही वर्षांपूर्वी मरण पावले. तर खुशबू लहान असतानाच आई सोडून निघून गेली होती. तेव्हापासून ती काकांकडे राहत होती. तिने शिक्षण बंद करून ब्युटी पार्लर क्लासेस लावले होते. तेथेच ती ब्युटीशियन म्हणून काम करीत होती. खुशबूचे एका युवकासोबत प्रेमसंबंध होते. मंगळवारी दुपारच्या सुमारास तिचे आणि प्रियकराचे कोणत्यातरी कारणावरून वाद झाला.
या वादातून दोघांत अबोला होता. त्यामुळे ती सायंकाळपासूनच तणावात होती. घरी आल्यानंतर ती जेवन न करता झोपायला गेली. सकाळी झोपेतून उठून सर्व जण खाली चहा घेत असताना खुशबूने सिलींग फॅनला ओढनीने गळफास घेऊन आत्महत्या केली. चहा घ्यायला खाली न आल्याने काका वरती गेले असता हा प्रकार उघडकीस आला. या प्रकरणी जरीपटका पोलिसांनी आकस्मिक मृत्यूची नोंद केली. खुशबूला आत्महत्येस कुणी प्रवृत्त केले का? याबाबत जरीपटका पोलिस तपास करीत आहेत.
नागपूर : राज्य सरकारने शहरात सुरू असलेल्या सिमेंट रस्ते प्रकल्पांतर्गत मनपा साठी ६२.५० कोटीचा निधी मिळाला आहे. हा निधी तातडीने जिल्हाधिकाऱ्यांनी मनपाला हस्तांतरित करण्याचे निर्देशही दिले आहे. यामुळे मनपावरील दबाव काहीसा कमी झाला आहे. दोनच दिवसांपूर्वी राज्य सरकारने मनपाला १५० कोटींचे विशेष अनुदान दिले होते. मनपाने मागितलेल्या ३२५ कोटींपैकी १५० कोटी मिळाले. त्यात पुन्हा ही भर पडली आहे. २९ ऑक्टोबरला यासंदर्भात नगरविकास विभागाने परिपत्रक काढले.
राज्यातील महानगरपालिका/नगरपरिषद आणि नगरपंचायत यांना रस्ता व तद्अनुषांगिक बाबींचा विकास करण्यासाठी विशेष रस्ता अनुदान देण्यात येतो. नागपूर शहरात रस्ते प्रकल्प टप्पा ३ रोजी मान्यता देण्यात आली. त्यासाठीच्या वाट्याचे ६२.५० कोटी एवढी रक्कम उपलब्ध करून देण्यात आली. हा निधी नागपूर मनपाला वितरित करताना अटी व शर्तीच्या अधीन राहून करण्यात येत असल्याचे परिपत्रकात नमूद करण्यात आले आहे. जिल्हाधिकाऱ्यांनी यासंदर्भात राज्य सरकारने पाठविलेला हा निधी तातडीने मनपा ला हस्तांतरित करावा, असे निर्देश दिले असल्याची माहिती स्थायी समिती सभापती विक्की कुकरेजा यांनी दिली.
दरम्यान, मनपा कंत्राटदारांकडून कक्ष परत घेण्याच्या निर्णयाचे कुकरेजा यांनी जोरदार समर्थन केले. कंत्राटदारांना कक्ष देणे बंधनकारक नाही. त्यांना सोयीचे जावे म्हणून तो कक्ष देण्यात आला होता. कक्ष द्यावे, असे कुठलेही बंधन नाही. त्यामुळे तो कक्ष परत घेण्यात आल्याचे त्यांनी सांगितले. मनपाच्या मालमत्ता कराचा रोज आढावा घेण्यात येत आहे. १५ दिवसांत ४५ कोटींचे लक्ष्यही देण्यात आले असल्याचे कुकरेजा यांनी सांगितले.
दीडशे कोटींच्या वितरणासाठी बैठक
राज्य सरकारने मंजूर केलेल्या १५० कोटींच्या निधीचे वितरण कसे करायचे, याबाबत गुरुवार अथवा शुक्रवारला स्थायी समितीची विशेष बैठक होत आहे. यात निधी वितरणाचे सूत्र ठरणार आहे. कंत्राटदारांची देणी व इतरांच्या देणीसंदर्भात या विशेष बैठकीत चर्चा होईल, असे कुकरेजा यांनी सांगितले.

New Delhi : Manzoor-E-Khuda, the third song from Thugs Of Hindostan playlist, released on Wednesday in the form of a teaser – just the way Suraiyya was introduced. Yash Raj Films, who dropped the teaser, described the song as one that sets the mood for action and adventure: “This Diwali, get ready for an explosion of action and adventure!” Now that we have already been introduced to Suraiyya as a popular dancer from 1795 India, she returns to set the floor on fire in Manzoor-E-Khuda. But her brilliance on the dance floor isn’t the only highlight of the song.
The one-minute-long teaser is punctuated with glimpses of Amitabh Bachchan AKA Khudabaksh and his fauj of thugs fighting off the East India Company in a sea-battle of ships, swords and bombastic cannons! For a change, it also appears that Aamir Khan, who plays conman Firangi Mullah, is fighting for Khudabaksh’s army with utmost sincerity but surprisingly, Manzoor-E-Khuda also ends with a cliff-hanging moment of sword fight between Firangi and Khudabaksh with Amitabh Bachchan narrating the motto of the Thugs Of Hindostan – “Agaar azadi hai gunah, toh qubul hai sazaa. ये चर्चा काफी दिनों से चल रही है कि भारत के पहले अंतरिक्ष यात्री राकेश शर्मा की बायोपिक बनने वाली है. इस फिल्म से पहले आमिर खान का नाम जुड़ा लेकिन उन्होंने इस फिल्म को करने से साफ मना कर दिया जिसके बाद ये फिल्म शाहरुख खान की झोली में जा गिरी. अब शाहरुख इस फिल्म में लीड भूमिका अदा कर रहे हैं. ये फिल्म फरवरी 2019 से फ्लोर पर जा सकती है. इस फिल्म को अंजुम राजाबाली ने लिखा है जबकि इसे रॉनी स्क्रूवाला प्रोड्यूस कर रहे हैं. इस फिल्म का निर्देशन करेंगे महेश मथाई और इसे को-प्रोड्यूस करेंगे सिद्धार्थ रॉय कपूर. प्रोड्यूसर्स ने कहा है कि वो जल्द ही इसके बारे में ऐलान करने वाले हैं. रॉनी ने कहा कि, ‘हम इस फिल्म को शाहरुख खान के साथ कर रहे हैं. इसे हम अगले साल फरवरी-मार्च तक शुरू कर देंगे. हालांकि अभी तक हमने लीड एक्ट्रेस पर अंतिम फैसला नहीं लिया है.’

Bollywood actor Anupam Kher has resigned as the chairman of the Film and Television Institute of India(FTII) citing commitments to an international TV show for which he has to be stationed in the US. In his resignation letter to Information and Broadcasting Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore , he said that due to his commitment to the show he will be stationed in the US for “nearly nine months between 2018 and 2019 and then for a similar period for a minimum of three years more”.

His resignation letter has been accepted by Rathore, who thanked Kher for his services to the premier institute, sources said.
Kher had replaced Gajendra Chauhan, who had a controversial tenure, as the head of the Pune-based institute in October last year.

Nagpur : Former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Tuesday demanded immediate financial assistance of Rs 50,000 per hectare to the distressed farmers facing nature’s wrath while accusing present government with abysmal failure over all fronts.
He asked Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to make use of experience and expertise of opposition party leaders to handle drought situation in State.
Pawar was at a Meet the Press programme organised by Nagpur Union of Working Journalist and Press Club. He said, “Due to insufficient rainfall in Maharashtra, situation is very grim and present government has failed to handle it in proper manner. Instead of declaring drought in the state, the government is waiting for Central Government’s team to study the situation. The situation is very difficult in 8 districts of Marathwada region.”
Quoting Ground Water Survey and Development Agency (GSDA), Pawar claimed, Jalyukta Shivar did not make any difference in Marathwada region. The government should direct industries to use their corporate social responsibility (CSR) fund for financing water supply schemes in rural areas. All the wells and borewell should be acquired to provide water in critical situation. The Chief Minister should visit fields to review the grim situation, he added.
Wondering the delay in declaring drought, Ajit Pawar pointed out that, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had assured in a recent meeting at Shirdi to provide all financial assistance to Maharashtra to handle drought in the state while Chief Minister claimed that it could be done only after Central team’s visit.
Suspecting that Central Government and coal utilities under it had diverted coal meant for Maharashtra to poll bound states presently ruled by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to ensure uninterrupted power supply, Pawar lashed out at State Government. Ajit Pawar claimed that under DF regime, the state was free from load shedding, but now long power cuts were back.
When asked about investigation of irrigation scam and his alleged role in the scam, Pawar said that he had fully cooperated with the investigating agency and given his statements orally and in writing as well. When journalists persistently asked whether the investigation was a farce, Pawar refused to comment further stating that matter was sub judice.
Former BJP MLA Ashish Deshmukh criticised the state government for giving importance to religious euphoria and pride over development issues.
In an open letter to members of Maharashtra Assembly, Deshmukh said the BJP-Shiv Sena government in the state, which has completed four years, appears to be gripped by a policy paralysis.
Instead of development, the government is giving more importance to religious euphoria and pride to divert people’s attention.
Deshmukh, who quit the BJP on October 12 after resigning as a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, appealed to the legislators to objectively evaluate the performance of the Maharashtra government and take a stand.
“My resignation does not affect the current coalition but it drew attention to the failure of the state at various levels,” he said.
It is time to bring down this government that does not help people, he said.
The failure of the loan waiver schemes, little attention to women and child development and several announcements which are yet to materialise, are some of the indicators of the government’s inability, Deshmukh said.
Hardly 30-40 per cent farmers in Maharashtra benefitted from the loan waiver scheme, he claimed.

Nagpur: The excavated soil and debris have been dumped by Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro) in the bed of city’s signature Nag river, near Yashwant Stadium.
The debris and dug up soil have been dumped in such a huge quantity that the dumps on both sides have choked one outlet each under the bridge. With umpteen numbers of drains carrying the filth from households and shops open into the river, turning it into a bigger drain. The High Court had several times intervened and also passed orders for cleaning of the river-bed. Sadly, every time, such orders met with short-lived action.
The bridge was constructed years ago, just ahead of the famous ‘Sangam’ (confluence) of Nag river and a nullah originating from overflow point of Futala lake. The idea behind constructing the bridge with three openings underneath was to ensure that the Nag river flow did not get obstructed even when it rained heavily and the river was in spate.

Nagpur : Upset for not being taken to market for Diwali shopping, 20-year-old Payal Karadbhajne allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling at her residence at Vasant Nagar on Tuesday.
Payal, a second year student of commerce at Dhanwate National College (company secretaryship), was told by father Datta to wait for another day before she can join others for shopping. It’s learnt that the family had gone for shopping a day ago leaving her behind.
Explaining the financial constraint of the family, Datta said he had been already spending substantially so that she got sound education. The family members claimed that Payal, eldest of three siblings, might have taken her father’s scolding to her heart to such an extent that she decided to take the drastic step.
Datta, a farmer, said he had already paid Rs. 35,000 for Payal’s first year fees of CS at an institution at Ramdaspeth. “I only requested her to wait for a day before she could go for marketing,” he said.
Ajni police have registered a case as accidental death. Her body has been sent to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). Police said no suicide note was found from the spot. Senior PI of Ajni police station Shailesh Sankhe said he heard about her being upset for not being made part of Diwali shopping.
India will today (Oct. 31) unveil the world’s tallest statue, that of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a leading light of the country’s long freedom struggle against the British.
Prime minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the towering structure, located on an island along the Narmada river in the western state of Gujarat, on Patel’s 143rd birth anniversary.
At 182 metres (240 metres including the base), the “Statue of Unity” tops the Spring Temple Buddha (128 metres) in China that previously held the record for the world’s tallest statue. It’s also twice the size of the Statue of Liberty in New York. Built by the engineering and infrastructure firm Larsen & Toubro, using some components made in China, the statue required over 18,000 tonnes of reinforced steel and 1,700 tonnes of bronze.
Born in Nadiad, Gujarat, Patel was a lawyer-turned-politician of the Indian National Congress who worked closely with Mahatma Gandhi. Following Independence, he served as the country’s first deputy prime minister and home minister. He’s remembered the most as the “iron man” for forging a new nation, convincing 565 big and small princely states to integrate into it.
Over the years, despite belonging to the rival Bharatiya Janata Party, Modi has been effusive in his praise for the leader, even accusing past governments and parties of trying to “run down” and erase Patel’s legacy. The construction of the statue was a pet project of the prime minister, who laid its foundation on Oct. 31, 2013, as chief minister of Gujarat.
In the years since then, the enormous statue has been fraught with controversies.
The Statue of Unity was built at an estimated $430 million. Most of this money came from the government and public sector companies such as the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation and Hindustan Petroleum. Naturally, this sparked heavy criticism over the misuse of taxpayer money, which could have been put to better use in infrastructure development, education, and health care in a country that fares poorly on all these counts.
Of course, India is now no stranger to spending exorbitant amounts on enormous statues: In 2016, the government of the western state of Maharashtra earmarked over $500 million to build a giant statue of the 16th century chieftain, Shivaji Bhonsle, just off the Mumbai coast. Around 54,000 Indians then signed a petition against “wasting” the staggering amount of money. However, a few changes in the plan (notably the height of the statue) aside, the project is well on its way.

नागपूर : नागपूर महानगरपालिकेच्या शाळांना अधिक सक्षम आणि गतिमान बनविण्याच्या दृष्टीने शाळा निरीक्षकांची भूमिका महत्त्वाची आहे. शाळा निरीक्षकांनी वेळोवेळी शाळांना भेटी देऊन तेथील शिक्षकांच्या कार्याचा अहवाल शिक्षण समिती आणि विभागाला द्यावा. जे शिक्षक शिक्षणकार्यात कुचराई करीत असेल त्यांच्यावर नियमानुसार कारवाई करावी, असे निर्देश शिक्षण समितीचे सभापती प्रा. दिलीप दिवे यांनी दिले.
नागपूर महानगरपालिका शाळांच्या शिक्षण कार्यातील गतिमानतेचा आढावा घेण्यासाठी मंगळवारी (ता. ३०) शिक्षण समितीच्या बैठकीचे आयोजन मनपा मुख्यालयातील डॉ. पंजाबराव देशमुख स्मृती सभागृहात करण्यात आले होते. सभापती प्रा. दिलीप दिवे यांच्या अध्यक्षतेखाली झालेल्या बैठकीला समितीच्या उपसभापती भारती बुंडे, सदस्या रिता मुळे, स्वाती आखतकर, सदस्य राजेंद्र सोनकुसरे, शिक्षणाधिकारी संध्या मेडपल्लीवार, उपशिक्षणाधिकारी कुसूम चापलेकर, क्रीडा अधिकारी नरेश सवाईतूल, क्रीडा निरीक्षक नरेश चौधरी उपस्थित होते.
यावेळी सभापती प्रा. दिलीप दिवे यांनी शाळा निरीक्षकांकडून त्यांच्या कार्याचा झोननिहाय आढावा घेतला. नागपूर महानगरपालिकेअंतर्गत संचालित सर्व शाळांमध्ये शिक्षण साहित्य व्यवस्थित आहे अथवा नाही, शिक्षकांचे कार्य योग्यरीत्या आहे अथवा नाही, शिक्षक टाचणवह्यांची नोंद ठेवतात की नाही, शिक्षकांच्या मासिक नोंदी, वार्षिक नियोजन आहे अथवा नाही, त्यावर शाळा निरीक्षकांच्या स्वाक्षऱ्या आहेत की नाही, या सर्व बाबींचा आढावा घेतला. दैनंदिन कामे करण्यात जो शिक्षक कुचराई करीत असेल, त्यांच्यावर नियमानुसार कारवाई करण्याचे निर्देश सभापती प्रा. दिलीप दिवे यांनी दिले.
समिती सदस्य करणार शाळांची तपासणी
मनपाच्या शाळा अधिक गतीमान करण्यासाठी आता सभापती प्रा. दिलीप दिवे यांच्यासह प्रत्येक सदस्य हे संबंधित झोनच्या शाळा निरीक्षकांसह विविध शाळांना आकस्मिक भेटी देणार आहेत. या भेटीत ते शिक्षकांच्या कार्याचा आढावा घेतील. त्यांची दैनंदिन कामे योग्यरीत्या होतात अथवा नाही, याचीही ते तपासणी करतील. शाळा साहित्य, शालोपयोगी वस्तू योग्यरीत्या असल्याची खातरजमाही ते या भेटींमध्ये करणार आहेत.
शिक्षण सप्ताहात होणार क्रीडा आणि सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम
दरवर्षी बालदिनाचे औचित्य साधून शिक्षण सप्ताहाचेही आयोजन शिक्षण विभागातर्फे करण्यात येते. यावर्षी बालदिनाला शाळास्तरावर कार्यक्रमाचे आयोजन करण्याचे निर्देश सभापती प्रा. दिलीप दिवे यांनी दिले. सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रमांचे आयोजन शिक्षण सप्ताहादरम्यान करण्यात यावे. नोव्हेंबर महिन्याच्या अखेरच्या आठवड्यात त्याचे आयोजन करून याच वेळी गुणवंत सत्कार सोहळा घेण्याचे निर्देश सभापतींनी दिले.
