86% land acquired for Nagpur-Mumbai super communication expressway

Date:

Nagpur : Land acquisition woes for the ambitious Nagpur-Mumbai communication super expressway, also known as Samruddhi corridor, seem to be over.

Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has acquired 86.46% land, which includes both government and private. The rest of it will be compulsorily acquired under Maharashtra Highways Act, 1955.

MSRDC chief Radheshyam Mopalwar said all the private land that could be acquired through consent has been acquired. “We have also acquired government land required for the project and executed sale deeds,” he added.

“Until a few months ago, less than 70% of the land had been acquired. Such lands will also be compulsorily acquired,” he said.

MSRDC has done a phenomenal task in acquiring land in problem districts of Nashik, Thane, Aurangabad and Jalna.
