Mumbai, Maharashtra: ExxonMobil today laid the foundation stone of its new lubricant-manufacturing plant in Raigad, Maharashtra, in the presence of Dave Hergenrether, VP, Finished Lubricants, ExxonMobil Product Solutions Company (a division of Exxon Mobil Corporation); Monte Dobson, Lead Country Manager for ExxonMobil affiliates in India; and Vipin Rana, CEO, ExxonMobil Lubricants Pvt Ltd. The investment is aimed at localized manufacturing of high-performance lubricants, which will cater to the growing demand from India’s industrial and automotive sectors.
The plant, with an investment outlay of INR 900 crore (US$110 million), will be built in Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation’s Isambe Industrial Area in Raigad. Once operational, it will have the capacity to potentially manufacture 159,000 kiloliters of finished lubricants annually.
Expecting to create over 1,200 new jobs during the construction phase, the plant will also support the local economy by creating a vibrant manufacturing ecosystem that will potentially benefit several ancillary sectors. In a significant boost to “Make in India,” a large part of the base stocks, additives, and all packaging will be sourced from local business when the plant begins production.

Mumbai, May 18, 2023: The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) released its
annual complaints report for 2022-23 which contains several startling observations,
especially those pertaining to advertising in the digital space. During this period, ASCI
reviewed 7,928 advertisements across different media, including print, digital, and television. ASCI has stepped up its scrutiny of ads nearly 2 folds over the last 2 years. TV and print advertisers continued to be highly compliant at 94%, however, the overall compliance is lower at 81% due to digital. Hence, digital ads emerged not just as a leading violator, with 75% of ads processed being from the digital space, but also as the least compliant. This raises serious concerns about the safety of consumers in the online space.
As per the report, the real-money gaming industry surpassed the education sector to emerge as the most violative sector, moving from fifth to first place. An astounding number (92%) of gaming advertisements reviewed by ASCI for FY 2022–23 did not adhere to the guidelines for real money gaming and failed to inform consumers about the risks of financial loss and addiction. The sector also gained the dubious distinction of being the least complaint, with only 50% of ads being modified voluntarily after they have been called out. It may be remembered that ASCI had released its guidelines for the Real-Money gaming sector in December 2020, and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting had thereafter released an advisory asking all parties to comply with the guidelines.
The report also revealed a sharp increase in the number of misleading ads featuring celebrities. ASCI processed 503 such ads, as opposed to 55 the previous year, a growth of 803%. In 97% of these ads, the celebrities failed to provide evidence of due diligence as mandated by the Consumer Protection Act. This again is a serious issue as ads featuring celebrities have a high impact on consumers.
In addition, influencer violations stood at 26%, with 2,039 complaints being processed against them. Categories, including personal care, food and beverage, and fashion and lifestyle, topped the list of influencer-related violations.
ASCI's adoption of artificial intelligence-based tracking has bolstered its ability to scrutinize digital media effectively, despite challenges such as the pace of advertising and the sheer number of ads to be processed. This goes to show that the self-regulatory organization remains steadfast in its commitment to promote responsible advertising practices and protecting consumer rights.
The ASCI Annual Complaints Report serves as a wake-up call to advertisers, platforms, and
regulators, urging them to join forces and create a secure environment and foster trust among consumers.

The study that placed Gemini sunflower oil on No.1 rank on quality was based on the findings of a laboratory study conducted on 23 Sunflower brands tested on 20 quality parameters as per the regulations of FSSAI (Food Safety & Standards Authority of India), Agmark and legal methodology. The record was set on the test tracks of Hero MotoCorp’s state-of-the-art R&D facility,the CIT and was completed by a team of six riders. The CIT is the hub of the company’s global innovation & technology pursuits and in tandem with Tech Center Germany, it has delivered many globally popular products over the past seven years.
VIDA plans to increase its presence to 100 cities within this calendar year, 2023. It will use Hero MotoCorp’s expansive dealer network to rapidly scale up its operations across the country. VIDA’s vision is to create a “Worry-Free EV Ecosystem” that will propagate the EV category.

It is a remarkable achievement as the previous record has been broken by nearly 350 kms and that too in the intense summer heat of Jaipur. Hero MotoCorp’s VIDA V1, you are now Officially Amazing!”
The six-rider team started the record attempt on April 20, 2023, at 6.45 am and took turns
in a relay format to ride the VIDA V1. The team shattered the existing record at around 2 AM on April 21, 2023. The final lap was completed at 6.45 AM on the same morning at a distance of 1780 kilometers.
With ambient temperatures nearing 40*C and track temperatures over 50*C, the VIDA V1 delivered peak performance throughout the 24 hours. A team of CIT engineers supported the riders with battery swaps during the run, most of which were under 20 seconds.
The world-record-setting VIDA V1 has now been placed on exhibit at the CIT in Jaipur.

When King Janaka was plowing the land to conduct a Yajna he found a baby girl inside a Golden casket. A plowed land is called Sita thus King Janaka named the baby girl Sita. It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi took birth as Sita in the Treta Yug.
Sita is also believed as a rebirth of Vedavati. Vedavati, a beautiful woman, gave up all materialistic things and kept meditating for Lord Vishnu. When King Ravana saw her, he was attracted and tried to violate her. She jumped into a fire to escape from him and before dying cursed him that she would be responsible for his death in her next birth.
Lord Rama and Maa Sita are the ideal couples one can see. In spite of facing a lot of hardships in their life, both Rama and Sita were very firm and stood by each other. Maa Sita is known for her sincerity, purity, love, and devotion towards all whether her husband Rama or her children Lava and Kush or be it her husband’s brother Lakshman or else Hanuman. Lord Rama, Maa Sita, Lakshman, and Hanuman idols are taken in processions on this day of Sita Navami. Devotees chant ‘Jai Siya Ram’ and other devotional songs all the way. Ramayana is recited in temples and Bhajans are sung dedicated to Ram and Sita. 19th April 2023, Delhi: Mr Shrikant Madhav Vaidya, Chairman, IndianOil, visited the Children’s Observation Centre at Umerkhadi, Mumbai and interacted with the young inmates yesterday, as part of the Company’s ‘Nayi Disha – Smile for Juvenile’ initiative. The initiative rolled out earlier this year is an offshoot to the ‘Parivartan-Prison to Pride’ that leverages the power of sports, by imparting coaching and equipment to inmates by IndianOil sportspersons. During the interaction, the young inmates shared their experience of the sports coaching and presented their paintings to the dignitaries.
Pledging IndianOil’s commitment to the cause, Mr Vaidya said, “The positive energy of sports can improve mental and physical health of juveniles and help in their smooth social re-integration. After the success of ‘Parivartan’ and ‘Nayi Disha’ across the country, we aim to harness this positive passion and open new horizons of opportunities for the youngsters.” Mr Vaidya also shared ideas on generating income for the inmates by showcasing their creative skills at IndianOil Retail Outlets (ROs). April 13, 2023: HDFC Bank, India’s leading private sector bank, has signed a Master Inter Bank Credit Agreementwith Export Import Bank of Korea for a US $ 300 million line of credit.The pact was signed at GIFT City, Gujarat. This will help HDFC Bank raise foreign currency funds which it would extend to Korea-related businesses.
The pact is likely to promote and increase the bank’s business with Korean entities and products.The first drawdown under the program would happen by May.
“Our agreement with Korean Eximbank will further strengthen and support trade and investment flows between India and Korea which can potentially create more jobs in the country.We will pursue deals under this agreement and may look to expand the programme”,said Mr. Arup Rakshit, Group Head, Treasury, Sales Analytics and Overseas Business, HDFC Bank

The RBI successfully delivered a hawkish pause in todays’ policy announcement keeping the policy rate unchanged at 6.5% while keeping the door open for further rate action. The central bank kept its stance unchanged at “withdrawal of accommodation”, justifying it by still looming inflationary risks. Growth was surprisingly revised upwards to 6.5% for FY24 while inflation forecast for Q4 FY24 was revised down – most likely on account of base effects. We expect that growth could be lower at 6% this fiscal while there are upside risks to the RBI’s inflation forecast, especially given the impending risks around oil prices and the performance of monsoons. | HDFC Bank

Self-hire e-scooters were first introduced to the French capital in 2018 as a greener alternative to cars and the public transport network. However, an increased number of accidents and “irresponsible use” has seen Mayor Anne Hidalgo call a referendum on whether they should stay.
On Sunday, Parisians can vote on the issue at 203 polling stations across 21 locations until 7 pm local time (6 pm UK). While the result is not legally binding, Ms Hidalgo has promised to honour the result.
The city’s 15,000-strong fleet of rental e-scooters are provided by Tier,Lime, and Dott. They are widely used, with each e-scooter picked up an average of 3.5 times a day, according to official figures.
However, calls to improve safety have forced e-scooter providers to cap the overall number, impose automatic speed restrictions in certain areas, and fines for leaving them abandoned in undesignated spaces.
Three deaths and 459 injuries were attributed to e-scooters in Paris in 2022, compared to one fatality and 353 injuries in 2021. Ms Hidalgo has cited concerns over road safety issues, especially for older and disabled people, as a reason to consider the ban.
Social media influencers have stepped up efforts to get young people to vote against the ban in recent days. They argue that e-scooters provide a safer and quicker way of travelling home late at night, particularly in the absence of a night service on the Paris metro. Strikes against Emmanuel Macron’s pension reforms are also making public transport increasingly unreliable, they add.
The vote is taking place on the same day as the Paris marathon, with those against the ban fearful that this will reduce turnout.
If the referendum results in a ban on rental e-scooters, Paris would join other cities like Madrid and Barcelona in prohibiting them.

Directed by Chad Stahelski, the movie picks up right where the previous one left off, with Keanu Reeves‘ iconic hitman seeking revenge from the High Table, the organization that controls the underworld in which he operates.
After being left battered and bruised in the previous film, John is seeking refuge with Bowery King, played by Laurence Fishburne, and is eager to exact his revenge. But as expected, things don’t go according to plan, and John is forced to embark on a violent and action-packed mission to take down the High Table.
The film introduces a fresh cast of characters, both allies and foes, each with their unique style and personality. Bill Skarsgård’s Marquis Vincent de Gramont is the perfect foil for John, a member of the High Table who flouts the rules and relies on his celebrated heritage rather than skill to secure his place. India, March 21st, 2023 – Two new research studies– with almonds, one conducted over three days and the other over three months, demonstrated benefits to blood sugar control for Asian Indians with prediabetes and overweight/obesity – and the three-month almond intervention broke new ground, reversing prediabetes, or glucose intolerance, to normal blood sugar levels in nearly one quarter (23.3%) of the people studied.
In both studies, 60 people ate 20 g (0.7 oz) of almonds, around a small handful, 30 minutes before breakfast, lunch, and dinner throughout the study durations. Researchers expressed their enthusiasm for these almond studies and the first-of-its-kind statistically significant reduction in measures of prediabetes by calling the reversal of prediabetes through diet “the holy grail of medicine.” Better glucose control over time through dietary strategies like including almonds could help stave off diabetes progression. Nearly 70% of individuals with prediabetes will develop diabetes within their lifetime.
Both studies were randomized controlled trials funded by the Almond Board of California. The researchers hypothesized that the almond snack before major meals, known as “preloading,” would reduce glucose and insulin fluctuations after meals and reduce overall hyperglycemia compared to the control diet. The findings complement the breadth of research on different populations on how almonds support healthy blood sugar as part of a balanced diet.
“Results from our studies indicate almonds might be a key differentiator in helping regulate blood glucose levels as part of a dietary strategy. These results showcase that the simple addition of a small portion of almonds before each meal can quickly and drastically improve glycemic control in Asian Indians in India with prediabetes in just three days. Eating 20 g of almonds 30 minutes before an oral glucose load showed a significant decrease in blood sugar and hormones. Almonds’ nutritional makeup of fiber, monounsaturated fats, zinc, and magnesium work together to help provide better glycemic control and reduce hunger,” said lead author Dr. Anoop Misra, Professor and Chairman, Fortis-C-DOC Centre of Excellence for Diabetes, Metabolic Diseases, and Endocrinology (New Delhi). “Our outcomes provide a promising dietary strategy for reducing prediabetes progression and returning people to normal glucose regulation.”
His collaborators agree. “In view of the increasing prevalence of diabetes, dietary strategies like consuming almonds 30 minutes before major meals offers a good option to decrease the spike in blood glucose levels after meals,” said Dr. Seema Gulati, head, of Nutrition Research Group, National Diabetes, Obesity, and Cholesterol Foundation.
The longer-term study:
This three-month longer-term study was with overweight or obese Asian Indian adults who had prediabetes. Participants were randomized into either the almond treatment group or into the control group, and both were provided with diet and exercise counseling as well as home-use glucometers to measure their glucose levels, which were recorded in diaries along with dietary intake and exercise.
Study measures comprised a variety of anthropometrics: body weight; circumferences of waists, hips, and arms; skinfolds of customary locations of the body; and body fat estimates. Biochemical measures included insulin, blood sugar, hemoglobin A1c, C-peptide, glucagon, proinsulin, high sensitivity C-reactive protein, tumor necrosis factor-alpha, and lipids.
Eating 20 g (0.7 oz) almonds ahead of breakfast, lunch, and dinner, for three months resulted in first-of-its-kind statistically significant reductions for the treatment group in body weight, body mass index, waist circumference, skinfold tests for shoulder and hip areas, as well as improved handgrip strength. Similarly, reductions were seen for fasting glucose, postprandial insulin, hemoglobin A1c, proinsulin, total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, and very low-density lipoprotein. Importantly, no changes occurred with beneficial HDL-cholesterol, meaning this cardioprotective lipid was maintained despite other observed biochemical alterations.
These substantial metabolic improvements led to nearly one-fourth (23.3%) of the prediabetes study participants returning to normal blood glucose regulation. These findings are meaningful for global public health given the prevalence of diabetes, and the troubling rates of progression from prediabetes to diabetes, and are specifically relevant to Asian Indians in India who are disproportionately impacted because of their greater tendency to progress from prediabetes to diabetes.
Researchers think the nutrients in almonds may play a role in the observed health benefits from this study. “The natural combination of monounsaturated fatty acids and soluble fiber could be responsible for the positive metabolic outcomes,” Dr. Misra said. “Almonds may slow stomach emptying, which could help people ingest less food and fewer calories to promote weight management, which is important in helping reverse the course of prediabetes back to normal blood sugar regulation.”
While the results are extremely promising, the researchers noted some limitations, including the relatively small sample size and limited period of intervention. They also noted that the study included Asian Indians who had well-controlled prediabetes, and the researchers cannot extrapolate the same impact of a premeal load of almonds in participants with type 2 diabetes. Including participants with poorly controlled metabolic states as well as those with diabetes could be useful.
The short-term study:
Part 1: One-Day Oral Glucose Tolerance Testing (OGTT): Participants were first divided into two groups of 30. The first group consumed a 20 g (0.7 oz) portion of almonds. The second group received no almonds and both groups were given an OGTT.
Part 2: Three-Day Blood Glucose Monitoring:Using a continuous glucose monitoring system (CGMS), researchers compared the glycemic effects of preloading three meals a day (breakfast, lunch, dinner) with 20 g (0.7 oz) of almonds for three consecutive days in 60 participants, with the participants who received no preloading of almonds.
Upon conclusion of the short-term study, researchers found that indicators for hyperglycemia, such as blood glucose, serum insulin, glucagon, and C-peptide (only OGTT results) were lower for the almond group versus the control group. There was an 18.05% decrease in PPBG levels, indicating improved regulation of glycemic responses among almond consumers.
Results from the continuous glucose monitoring system showed statistically significant improvement in glucose variability over the first 24 hours in the almond group, indicating appropriate glucose control. Specifically, PPHG levels were lowered by 10.07% in the almond group compared to the control. Additionally, treatment with premeal almond loading significantly improved several indicators that reflect daily glycemic control compared to the control group: lower mean 24-hour blood glucose concentration, less time spent above an elevated blood glucose level of 140 mg/dL, lower peak 24-hour glucose levels, decreased post-prandial blood glucose levels, lower minimum glucose levels at night, and lower overall hyperglycemia.
Limitations of the short-term study include a limited period of intervention with a smaller sample size comprising people with prediabetes. Also, nutritional intervention studies can trigger behavioral changes in both groups as the participants are made aware of their risk during the recruitment process and were given dietary instructions prior to the study. Further research is needed to investigate the effects of almond preloading consumption on the same measures in different ethnicities and in individuals with diabetes and normal body weights to be able to provide broader recommendations.
In summary, with both studies, Dr. Misra and colleagues found that study participants who ate 20g (0.7oz) of almonds 30 minutes before a meal showed significant improvements in glycemic control compared to not eating almonds before meals over three months. Almonds can be part of a nutritious dietary solution offering good potential for the reversal of prediabetes to normal glucose regulation in some Asian Indians and therefore potentially prevent or delay the development of diabetes in people with prediabetes.
