February 25, 2022, Mumbai:IndianOil, India’s leading energy provider, and Dabur India Limited, India’s leading Ayurveda major, have announced an exclusivetieup to provide direct access of Dabur’s range of trusted products to around 14 crore Indane LPG consumer households across India.
As a part of the tieup, IndianOil’sIndane LPG distributors will become retail business partners for Dabur and will help sell the entire Dabur range of products directly to the crores of Indane LPG consumer households through their network of delivery personnel, creating customer delight. A technological & system integration is being carried out by IndianOil and Dabur to render seamless delight to the entire value chain, especially Indane LPG users.
This initiative will help Dabur to leverage IndianOil’s unmatched reach to Indian households.

Sony SAB’s youth drama Ziddi Dil Maane Na is at a very important crossroad, where our braveheart Sanju (Diljot Chhabra) has been taken captive by her wicked ex-fiancé Kundan (Angad Hasija) and his aid KD. Under Karan’s (Shaalien Malhotra) guidance, Monami (Kaveri Priyam), Faizi (Aditya Deshmukh), Sid (Kunal Karan Kapoor) and the cadets have thus set forward to find Sanjana and release her from getting auctioned. While the stage is set and all the girls are being displayed to international buyers, Koel (Simple Kaul) arrives at the auction pretending to be a very rich buyer and manages to fool Kundan into thinking she is here to bid on the best of the lot.
KD and Kundan have a premonition that Sanju’s friends will try to avenge her and become a huge hindrance to the success of the auction, so they carefully hatch a plan to entrap them. While the cadets are placed at various locations to spot Sanju, she is nowhere to be seen causing Karan and Faizi to move over to the backstage area while Monami, Suman ji and others move to the greenroom. Monami sees Laxmi and other girls and consoles them as they are distraught over the idea of being sold to impish men. Through wire camera, Karan and Faizi find Sanju tied to a bomb. They rush to her rescue but as ill-fated as it can get, it turns out to be her body dummy. As soon as Ziddi Dil Maane Na Karan realizes it was a trap, KD enters the room seizing them at gun point. KD orders Karan to assemble all the cadets who are present. Premji surrenders himself, sheltering Koel who is the one who can save Sanju.
KD uses all his forces to get Karan and the cadets locked in a gas room. The situation deteriorates quickly as none of them can breathe. Karan instructs Koel to handle the situation with Sanju and promises to get the others and himself out of this mess. As the gas flow gets faster, Karan tries his best to knock the door open. Other cadets join him as the situation quickly escalates into one of the most dangerous and life-threatening times of their lives.
Shaalien Malhotra who essays the role of Special Agent Karan Shergill says, “Ziddi Dil Maane Na is going through a life changing sequence. The characters have gone through a lot of key changes in their character, and they have grown wonderfully. The entire team has a motto to live and die for each other and they will go to any extent in order to save their friend Sanjana. The fact is Sanjana would have done the same. What Kundan is planning to do with Sanju and the other girls is not uncommon, we want to send out a message that it is a heinous crime to treat them as commodities as I strongly believe women are far more superior than men. Russia-Ukraine war Live Updates : रशियाचे राष्ट्राध्यक्ष व्लादिमीर पुतीन यांनी अखेर युक्रेनमध्ये लष्करी कारवाईची घोषणा केली आहे. त्यांनी युक्रेनच्या सैन्याला शरण या असा इशारा दिला आहे. रशियाच्या राष्ट्राध्यक्षांनी गुरुवारी पहाटे संबोधित करताना म्हटले आहे की रशिया पूर्व युक्रेनमध्ये विशेष लष्करी ऑपरेशन करेल. याबाबतचे वृत्त एपी आणि बीबीसीने दिले आहे.

Mumbai: Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik was today arrested after questioning by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money laundering case linked to the activities of the Mumbai underworld, fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim and his aides.
Defiantly waving his fist in the air to the waiting media persons, Mr Malik said he won’t bow down. “We will fight and win, and expose everyone,” he said as he stepped out of the probe agency’s office. He was then taken by ED officials in a vehicle for a medical check-up.
According to sources, Mr Malik was grilled over alleged transactions with gangster Dawood’s associates and land deals with them. He was evasive and didn’t cooperate with the investigation, the ED said.
Recently, the ED had carried out multiple raids and also took custody of Dawood Ibrahim’s brother Iqbal Kaskar in the same case. According to sources, some evidence related to property purchased by Nawab Malik has surfaced during the ongoing investigation.
The 62-year-old Minister was taken to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office this morning for questioning. ED officials reached this home at 6 am where he was questioned for an hour. He was then brought to the ED office and questioned again for close to eight hours.
While Mr Malik was being questioned, NCP workers protested near the party’s headquarters, located close to the ED office in south Mumbai, and shouted slogans slamming the BJP-led central government and the probe agency. “The protest is against the unjust questioning of Nawab Malik as he was exposing the BJP+NCB+CBI+ED nexus on a daily basis. We will not be cowed down. NCP will keep exposing BJP and all central agencies,” party spokesperson Sanjay Tatkare said.
Mr Malik had recently made headlines for attacking the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede accusing him of several service-related wrongdoings after the anti-drugs officer led the raid on a cruise ship on Mumbai’s shore in October last year and arrested 20 people including superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan.
Mr Malik’s son-in-law Sameer Khan was also arrested in a drugs case by the NCB’s Mumbai unit last year.
Reacting to the allegations against Mr Malik, NCP chief Sharad Pawar said invoking Dawood was a convenient way to sully someone’s reputation. “I don’t know about the case against him but Dawood’s name has always been invoked to try to defame rivals,” he said. Mr Pawar claimed that he was also accused of having ties with the underworld when he was the state’s Chief Minister. “25 years later, the same trick is being used to harass and defame,” he added.
Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut and Sharad Pawar have accused the central agencies of being politically motivated and claimed that anyone who speaks against the Centre and its probe agencies is targeted.
The BJP has rubbished allegations of political vendetta and accused Mr Malik of buying land from gangster Dawood Ibrahim’s aide. BJP MLA from Mumbai’s Ghatkopar West Ram Kadam also claimed that since the land was about to get seized by the government, the minister bought it at nominal rates from a bomb blast accused.

नागपूर : भिवापूर तालुक्यातील कोलारी येथील शेतकरी भालचंद्र धनविजे शेतावर जात होते. पंढरी वैरागडे यांच्या शेताजवळून नाला वाहतो. या नाल्याच्या काठावर त्यांना मानवी कवटी (Kavathi in Nala near Kolari) दिसली. त्यांनी याची माहिती पोलिसांना दिली. ठाणेदार महेश भोरटेकर, सहायक पोलीस निरीक्षक शरद भस्मे, पोलीस उपनिरीक्षक प्रकाश चंगोले, गणेश भुरे यांनी घटनास्थळी धाव घेतली. पंचनाम्यानंतर कवटी ताब्यात घेण्यात आळी. कवठी फॉरेन्सिक चाचणीकरिता (Forensic Test) नागपूरला पाठविण्यात आली. चार-पाच दिवसांपूर्वी चाय परिसरात महिलेची साडी (Women’s Saree) व पेटीकोट आढळला होता. या कपड्यांच्या बाजूला जनावराचे मुंडके व हाडं पडलेली होती.
कोलारी येथील प्रमिला मारोती धनविजे ही विधवा महिला गेल्या पाच महिन्यांपासून बेपत्ता आहे. तिचा भाऊ रवींद्र शेंडे याने यासंदर्भात भिवापूर पोलिसांत तक्रार दिली. तेव्हापासून पोलीस प्रमिलाचा शोध घेत आहेत. या महिलेला दोन मुली आहेत. एक सहाव्या, तर दुसरी नवव्या वर्गात शिक्षण घेत आहेत. त्यामुळं ही कवठी याच महिलेची असावी, असा अंदाज व्यक्त केला जात आहे.

या बत्तीस वर्षीय महिलेचे एका तरुणाशी प्रेमसंबंध होते. ती त्याच्यासोबत लग्नही करणार होती. पण, अचानक बेपत्ता झाली. त्यामुळं या महिलेची कुणीतही हत्या केली असावी, अशीही शंका व्यक्त केली जात आहे. कदाचित तिने आत्महत्या केली असावी, असाही अंदाज व्यक्त केला जात आहे. उपविभागीय पोलीस अधिकारी भीमराव टेळे यांच्या मार्गदर्शनात ठाणेदार महेश भोरटेकर, सहायक पोलीस निरीक्षक शरद भस्मे या प्रकरणाचा तपास करीत आहेत.
February 2022, Mumbai: IndianOil, India’s leading energy provider,has ramped up electric vehicle infrastructure, hitting a milestone of 1,000 electric vehicle charging stations (EVCS) across the country. This network provides a seamless charging experience for EV usersin India’s quest for green mobility.
In its endeavour to provide various innovative energy solutions to customers, IndianOilhas also been active in evaluating emerging trends in mobility, identifying relevant areas in the Electric Vehicle (EV) value chain, and exploring all potential business opportunities to be future-ready in the transition.
“With the successful deployment of over 1000 EV charging points, we have achieved the first of our many milestones towards enabling an EV revolution in the country. IndianOil is gearing up to provide EV charging facilities at 10,000 fuel stations in the next three years. This will give confidence to customers for an uninterrupted drive as well as to automobile manufacturers to enhance production of electric vehicles,” said Mr. V Satish Kumar, Director (Marketing), IndianOil.
Having installed its first EV charger for public use in 2017, at Nagpur, IndianOil EV charging points are now present in more than 500 towns and cities including multiple state and national highways. The Corporation is planning to have a base of 3000plus charging stations to convert highways into e-highways across the country, over the next three years.
As per the National Mission for Transformative Mobility and Battery Storage, IndianOil is setting up EV charging infrastructure in – Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Surat, and Pune, followedby State Capitals, Smart Cities, major highways, and expressways. The Corporation has collaborated with Tata Power, REIL, PGCIL, NTPC, Fortum, Hyundai, Tech Mahindra, BHEL, Ola for setting up EV chargers at its fuel stations.
IndianOil is also undertaking several other initiatives to minimize its carbon footprint and that of its customers. The Corporation has started ‘Zero Emission Electric Mobility’, a hybrid microgrid enabled clean energy EV charging solution, at IndianOil’s SBT Fuel Station at Neelamangala, Bangalore. The hybrid microgrid used for charging EVs at IndianOil fuel stations comprises solar power, battery storage and grid power. The solution, developed and patented by Hygge Energy, ensures that charging takes place primarily using solar power, thus ensuring zero-emission e-mobility. In addition to EV charging, this solution is an integrated platform that allows energy monitoring, energy optimization and revenue monitoring.

Within a week of it’s launch, the most atrangi family in town is already entertaining the viewers in with their quirks and family dynamics. Post an eventful week, the Mauryas are in for another shock as they find out about Mannu (Mohit Kumar) marrying Gargi (Kangan Baruah), the daughter of Daddy Khushwah (Satyajit Sharma). Begrudgingly, they accept; however, Gargi keeps to herself and doesn’t speak to Mannu. Despite their differences, Mannu gives his all to impress Gargi and treat her right. As he goes to buy some sweets for her. Mannu spots Gargi from afar and sees her holding hands and smiling with an unknown man.
On confronting her, Mannu discovers that Gargi has a boyfriend, named Vishwas (Pulkit Bangia) and she is planning to elope with him. Panicked and perturbed, Mannu comes up with a plan and asks Gargi to call Vishwas. He asks them to let Gargi live with him and his family for 7 months and in that time he will return the money to Daddy Khushwah, post which Gargi can leave. He also promises to support Vishwas and Gargi and not be a hindrance to their relationship. While Gargi agrees to these conditions, Vishwas doubts Mannu’s intentions.
Where will this deal lead them to?
Mohit Kumar, essaying the role of Mannu, said, “Mannu at the moment is focused on getting the tent house started, and the only way to do so is by getting the funds from Daddy Khushwah. And according to the deal, he has to keep Gargi happy in the marriage. But things turn south for Mannu when Gargi reveals that she is going to run away with her boyfriend. Mannu is taken aback because he was unaware of the situation, so he tries to deal with it in the best way possible. I feel bad for Mannu because, in such a short span, he has gone through so many mishaps, but he is not losing faith, and I think that is the charm of the character.”
Kangan Baruah, essaying the role of Gargi, said, “Gargi is vulnerable right now considering her father has forced her to marry a stranger. To top that, she feels like a commodity, bought in exchange for a price. Even though the situation is not ideal, Gargi is not someone to give in. She will fight for her love, Vishwas, but at the same time she does grow fonder of kind-hearted Mannu. I would urge the audience to stay with Gargi and Mannu, as they steer through this atrangi marriage because even though the stars are not in their favour now, the story can always take a different turn.”

After ‘Padhega Bharat’ initiative which is very strong in the sector, joined hands with ‘1 OTT’, the Edutainment vertical we have beenworking onhas been strengthened. This will enable the users to use same forum for education and entertainment without downloading any new app. ‘1 OTT’ subscribers will get 50% discount for some of the ‘Padhega Bharat’ programs. Similarly, the subscribers of some of the ‘Padhega Bharat’ programs will get a few ‘1 OTT’ programs free of cost for a year, said Joshi. Ahmedabad: Thirty-eight out of 49 convicts have been sentenced to death by a special court in the 2008 Ahmedabad serial Blast case. Nearly 80 accused were on trial. The terror attack in 2008 in the city in Gujarat killed 56 people.
Special court judge AR Patel also sentenced 11 other convicts in the case to life imprisonment till their death.
On February 8, a Gujarat court convicted 49 accused and acquitted 28 others in the case. The court had ended the trial in the more than 13-year-old case in September last year.

The trial in the case began in December 2009 against 78 people connected with the Indian Mujahideen after the court merged all 35 first information reports, or FIRs. The number of accused came down to 77 after one of them turned approver.

New Delhi: Celebrated composer Bappi Lahiri’s last rites took place this morning, a day after his death. Bappi Da, as he was known to everyone, was given a warm send-off by family, friends and fans. His final journey, from the family home in Juhu, Mumbai to the Pawan Hans crematorium, featured the two items that Bappi Lahiri was never seen without – his trademark sunglasses were intact and there was a golden chain nestled among the garlands. Bappi Lahiri died of sleep apnea on Tuesday night in a Mumbai hospital where he was being treated for a variety of ailments. He was 69.
The funeral took place on Thursday so that the composer’s son Bappa, who lives in Los Angeles, could attend. After flying into Mumbai with his family, Bappa Lahiri was pictured at his father’s last rites – he and Rani Mukerji’s brother Raja were among the pallbearers.
Police were present at the funeral to manage the crowd gathered and had barricaded the lane to the Lahiri residence. Son Bappa conducted the last rites and greeted the gathered well-wishers and media with a namaste after the cremation. He was accompanied by sister Rema.
The funeral was attended by family and friends, among them actress Vidya Balan, star of 2011 film The Dirty Picture in which Bappi Lahiri sang the song Ooh La La. In a tweet posted yesterday, the actress revealed that Bappi Da used to call her “Bidda” which is the Bengali pronunciation of her name.
Several other members of the Mukerji family were present apart from Raja. The Mukerjis and Lahiris are connected – both are related to the Ganguly family to which Kishore Kumar belonged; Kishore Kumar sang many of Bappi Lahiri’s greatest hits.
Border star Sharbani, cousin of Kajol and Rani Mukerji, was at the funeral as was her brother Samrat. Veteran actor Biswajit Chatterjee attended as well – 1985 film Saaheb, in which he starred with Anil Kapoor and Amrita Singh, contained one of Bappi Lahiri’s best-known songs, Pyar Bina Chain Kaha Re. Bappi Da also scored several of Biswajit’s son Prosenjit’s films.
Singers Alka Yagnik and Ila Arun, who have sang for several songs composed by Bappi Lahiri, were pictured at the funeral together.
Nagpur: Prostate Cancer- one of the most common cancers in male is also the one which is diagnosed mostly when it is already quite late. As the cancer is not having early signs and symptoms, the diagnosis often gets delayed having an adverse affect on heaths of patients.

The prostate is a gland in the male reproductive system. It is about the size of a walnut and surrounds part of the urethra (the tube that empties urine from the bladder).
Prostate cancer is the second most common cause of cancer in males worldwide as well as the most common cause of cancer-related death. There is a steady rise in its incidence in India, which puts it as the 9th most prevalent cancer.
The incidence of the disease increases after 40 years of age, and most people are diagnosed between 60 and 70 years of age. Unfortunately, prostate cancer usually has no early warning signs, so it can remain unnoticed for quite some time. For this reason, screening for prostate cancer is so important for all men. It is recommended to have a simple screening procedure after 50 years of age with measurement of blood prostate-specific antigen levels (PSA), and if indicated, a rectal examination of the prostate, with your doctor. The screening age is 45 yrs for those with a family history of prostate cancer and other types of cancer.
Early in the course of the disease, a patient may not have any symptoms or may have mild symptoms similar to benign prostatic obstruction, such as increased frequency of urination during the day, night, and slower urine flow. When these symptoms go unnoticed, patients may develop metastatic disease, which means cancer has spread to other organs. In advanced stages, patients will have blood in the urine, urinary retention, perineal pain, backaches, and other bony pain. In this scenario, a complete cancer cure is not possible.
In our country where the proper awareness regarding health issues is lacking, most of the patients are diagnosed in the late stages where the treatment options are limited with chemotherapy and hormonal therapy. The complete cure of early-stage cancer can sometimes be achieved with surgery or radiation therapy or both is required in some scenarios.
For prevention of prostate cancer, eat a healthy diet full of vegetables and fruits, exercise regularly, and avoid excessive fat, red meat, alcohol, and smoking. Last but not the least, screening for prostate cancer in case of lower urinary tract symptoms and age more than 50 years, family history of prostate cancer, and age more than 45 years.

मुंबई:बाॅलिवुडचे ज्येष्ठ संगीतकार आणि गायक बप्पी लहरी (Bappi Lahiri) यांचे निधन झालं आहे. त्यांनी ६९ व्या वर्षी अखेरचा मंगळवारी रात्री ११ च्या सुमाराच श्वास घेतला. मागील काही दिवसांपासून ते आजारी होते, त्यामुळे त्यांच्यावर जुहूच्या क्रिटी केअर रुग्णालयात उपचार सुरू होते. मागील वर्षी बप्पी लहरी यांना कोरोनाची लागण झालेली होती.
बप्पी लहरी यांना सोन्याचे दागिने घालणे आणि डोळ्यांवर कायम चश्मा लावणे त्यांना पसंत होते. गळ्यात जाड सोन्याच्या चेन्स, बोटांमध्ये सोन्यांच्या अंगठ्या घालणं त्यांना आवडत होते. अंगावरील दागिन्यांमुळेही त्यांची वेगळी ओळख होती. बप्पी लहरी (Bappi Lahiri) यांना बाॅलिवुडचा पहिला राॅक स्टार असंही संबोधलं जात होतं.
त्यांचा जन्म १७ नोव्हेंबर १९५२ रोजी पश्चिम बंगालमध्ये जलपाईगुडीमध्ये झाला होता. बप्पी लहरी यांना दोन मुले आहेत. या महिन्यात संगीतविश्वाला दुसरा मोठा धक्का बसला आहे. कारण, ६ फेब्रुवारी २०२२ रोजी गानकोकिळा लता मंगेशकर यांचे निधन झाले होते. त्यानंतर मंगळवारी गायक बप्पी लहरींचे झाल्याने बाॅलिवूडला मोठा धक्का बसला आहे.

१९८२ मध्ये आलेला चित्रपट मिथुन चक्रवर्ती यांचा चित्रपट ‘डिस्को डान्सर’मुळे बप्पी यांचे करिअर बहरले. या चित्रपटातील गाण्यांनी धुमाकूळ घातला होता. ‘नमक हलाल, शराबी, हिम्मतवाला, साहेब, गुरू, घायल आणि रंगबाज’ यासारख्या चित्रपटांना संगीत दिले.
२००० नंतरदेखील चित्रपटांमध्ये ते सक्रिय आहेत. ‘टॅक्सी नंबर 9211,’ ‘द डर्टी पिक्चर,’ ‘हिम्मतवाला,’ ‘बद्रीनाथ की दुल्हनिया’ आणि ‘व्हाय चीट इंडिया’ या चित्रपटातील गाण्यांना संगीत दिलं.

Recently a 57-year-old male from Parasiya, Madhya Pradesh was brought to Nagpur based Orange City Hospital & Research Institute in a very critical condition. On admission patient had severe breathlessness with gasping respiration, comatose, hypotension and frothing from mouth. He was immediately resuscitated, intubated and put on ventilator & inotrope support in casualty. He had complaints of breathlessness, cough and unconsciousness since 4-5 hrs. He was admitted under care of Dr. Devayani Buche-OCHRI Senior Physician. He was investigated thoroughly at OCHRI. His investigations revealed huge mass (17x17x10.5 cm) occupying whole thoracic cavity. Biopsy showed it to be Thymoma. Immuno histochemistry confirmed the diagnosis of Thymoma. His diagnosis was Thymoma with Respiratory Failure with urosepsis.
Dr. Devayani Buche informed that, looking at his condition and prognosis relatives were not keen to continue treatment and wanted to take patient home. But she convinced the relatives to continue treatment and at least give a week time to see his progress. She added that Thymoma are the most common primary tumor of the anterior mediastinum in adults. Varieties of other syndromes are seen in patients with Thymoma. This organ is located behind the sternum in front of the great vessels, she further added.
In view of prolonged ventilator support; tracheostomy was also done. He was put on chemotherapy and simultaneously he was managed for his other conditions. Gradually patient responded to treatment. His tracheostomy tube, RT tube and catheter was removed and he maintained oxygen saturation without any support. His repeat CT scan chest showed almost complete resolution of mass. After a month of treatment, he was discharged. At the time of discharge, he was conscious and stable without any respiratory distress. Relatives thanked TEAM OCHRI led by Dr. Devayani Buche for successful comprehensive treatment. They stated that patients come from far and wide to OCHRI as they are known for their multimodality approach to disease.

Nagpur: This Valentine elder family member vows to protect the younger one throughout life but an uncle like Mr. Sunil saves his life. Sunil Sagdeo a 56 year old gentleman showed that love is as unconditional as it could be when he donated one of his kidneys to his nephew in absence of any compatible donor in the immediate family.
It is to be mentioned that this was for the second time a family member was donating kidney to Mr. Prasad. Prior to this, he received kidney from his father in March 2008 which gave him quality life for seven years. However, unfortunately, he had developed a permanent graft dysfunction with kidney failure after seven years when his uncle came forward to save his life. The whole family was determined to save him and his survival with fully functional life against all odds today is an exemplary of that.
The organization has also been fortunate enough to witness one of the most rare and esteem act of humanity when an inter religion swap kidney transplant was performed five years back with both the donors leading a completely normal life. The transplant happened when a Hindu and a Muslim family were unable to find compatible donors and discovered that respective family members are compatible for paired donation. This is when an example of human love was set up beyond all the odds and they came forward to save each other above the religion barrier and set an example. “I feel a huge content in my heart by donating my kidney and saving a life”, said one of the donors.

New Delhi:Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a fierce attack on the Congress and the Gandhis in parliament today, said “talent is the first casualty of dynastic politics” and listed how the country would have been different “if Congress had not there”.
“The Congress’s problem is it has never thought beyond its dynasty. The biggest threats to democracy are dynastic parties. And when a family becomes paramount then the first casualty is talent,” PM Modi said in Rajya Sabha, replying to a debate on government policies.
“People wonder what if there had been no Congress. They are stuck in India is Indira, Indira is India,” the PM said, referring to a Congress phrase for one of its iconic leaders, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
He said Mahatma Gandhi wanted the Congress to be scrapped. “This was Mahatma Gandhi’s wish – he knew what would happen if they remained and said destroy this. If Gandhi’s wishes had been followed, India would have been free from nepotism,” he remarked.
“If, going by Gandhi’s wish, there had been no Congress, democracy would have been free of nepotism. India would have taken the swadeshi path. There would be no stain of Emergency. Corruption would not have been institutionalised for decades. There would have been no casteism or regionalism. Sikhs would not have been massacred. There would not have been an exodus from Kashmir. Women would not have been burnt in tandoors. The common man would not have had to wait so long for basic facilities,” PM Modi said.

New Delhi: Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, accompanied by daughter Ira, led the Bollywood tributes at Lata Mangeshkar’s funeral on Sunday in Mumbai. The legendary singer, 92, died in Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital, where she was being treated for COVID-19 and pneumonia. She was given a funeral with state honours on Sunday evening. Lata Mangeshkar’s last rites were attended by several dignitaries including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The film fraternity turned out to pay their respects, among them actor Shah Rukh Khan.
Aamir Khan, along with daughter Ira, paid tribute to Lata Mangeshkar.
Ranbir Kapoor, pictured here laying a wreath, was also at Lata Mangeshkar’s funeral.
Vidya Balan was present to pay her last respects as well.
Lata Mangeshkar’s sister and singer Asha Bhosle also paid tribute to the late singer.
Shraddha Kapoor, who is related to Lata Mangeshkar, was at the funeral and also visited the hospital on Saturday evening.
Earlier on Sunday, Amitabh Bachchan, daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda, Shraddha Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Madhur Bhandarkar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali were pictured at Lata Mangeshkar’s house.
Lata Mangeshkar, known as the ‘Nightingale of India,’ had sung in Hindi, Marathi, Bengali and other regional languages. She was honoured with the Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Dadasaheb Phalke Award as well as several National and Filmfare Awards. Lata Mangeshkar’s last complete album was for 2004 Bollywood release Veer-Zaara.

Sydney: Beijing Winter Olympics reveal a very different face of China as during the Summer Olympics in 2008, authorities had not imposed severe restrictions on locals and did not warn visiting athletes over speaking against Beijing. However, this time a lot has changed and Chinese officials have warned athletes not to speak against the country’s law and also made house arrests of local activists whom the communist regime believes might stage protests during the Winter Olympics that might taint the reputation of China, according to a media report.
In 2008, during Summer Olympics in Beijing, the Chinese government announced that it had designated three parks in the capital for anyone wanting to protest during the Games. It seems quaint to recall this gesture these days, as empty as it was. In the end, no protest permits were issued by the local police. The demonstrators who did take the risk during the Games were rounded up and taken away, reported Nikkei Asia
But the moment is worth remembering if only to contrast it with the lead-up to the Beijing Winter Olympics, scheduled to open tomorrow, as organizers warned athletes that their accreditations could be cancelled if they spoke out of turn, said the publication further.
In January, the Beijing organizing committee’s Yang Shu had said that any behaviour or speech that is against the Olympic spirit, especially against the Chinese laws and regulations, is also subject to certain punishment.

New Delhi: Asaduddin Owaisi, MP and chief of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), was provided Z category security cover today, a day after shots were fired at his car while he was returning to Delhi after campaigning in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut.
The government decided to provide him with Z category security by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) after reviewing the threat level in the light of last night’s attack.
Two people been arrested for firing at his convoy at Meerut’s Kithoudh area, police said.
One of the accused is Sachin, a resident of Noida who has an earlier attempt to murder case against him. While he has claimed that he holds a law degree, police are verifying it. In his Facebook profile, Sachin says he is a member of a Hindu right-wing organisation, police said, adding that they are investigating the claim.
The other accused is Shubham, a farmer from Saharanpur who does not have a criminal record.
According to police, the two have told them during questioning that they were upset with remarks made by Mr Owaisi and his brother and MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi.
