Nagpur: Faced with power crisis and load-shedding looming large, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) on Friday decided to purchase 760MW power from Tata’s Coastal Gujarat Power Limited (CGPL). The purchase would be made till June 15 through a short-term power purchase agreement, according to reports.
Due to rising gaps in availability and supply of power, the State Government has allowed MSEDCL to purchase power from Tata Power’s Mundra plant. The deal would help in No load-shedding bridging the gap to some extent due to sudden surge in power as a result of early onset of summer season.
According to MSEDCL, power demand has crossed 28000 MW even as State-run generating companies are struggling with low stock of coal. On Friday, Maharashtra Government allowed MSEDCL to purchase 760 MW of power till June 15. By that time monsoon is expected to start and the power demand would stabilize.
No load-shedding- The State Energy Minister Nitin Raut, talking to media after the Cabinet meeting, said that even if there’s a power shortage in the state, load-shedding will not be resorted under any circumstances by purchasing power. The Nagpur Guardian Minister said power demand has shot up due to the intense heat wave in the state. Coal stocks are also depleting, and railway rakes are not available many times. “We have to store coal reserves for the monsoon. With the removal of all Covid restrictions, all industries and commercial establishments are operating at full capacity. Farmers’ demand has also surged due to the sweltering heat. As a result, the demand is constantly increasing and has reached 28,700 MW,” he stated
Justifying the decision to purchase power, the Minister said that instead of buying electricity at Rs 12/unit in the open market, the government has decided to overcome the shortage by purchasing CGPL power at half the rate. “The purchase will be done for the next two and a half months at a cost of Rs 100-150 crore to MSEDCL. This will not put any burden on the exchequer. The government entered into a long-term power purchase agreement with CGPL in 2007. The same company has entered into power supply agreements with Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab. The power plant generates electricity via coal imported from Indonesia.”
The Minister added that MSEDCL distributes 87% of the total electricity consumption in the state. “Due to summer, the highest demand has reached 28,489MW. This is an increase of 8.2% over the previous year. At present, there is a shortage of 3,500MW-4,000MW in the state,” he said, adding, the decision of the Indonesian government led to a huge surge in the price of imported coal.
Ram Navami is special as it celebrates the birth of the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu, Lord Rama. He was born in Ayodhya as the son of King Dasharath and Queen Kaushalya. As per the Hindu calendar, the festival falls in the month of March or April. Ram Navami is celebrated across the county with devotion and joy. The houses are decorated and Rama idols are decorated with pomp and people share sweets and wish each other. Rama Navami Quotes 2022
“Abandon pride, which is the same as Tamas-guna (darkness), rooted as it is in ignorance and is a source of considerable pain; and adore Lord Shri Rama, the Chief of the Raghus and an ocean of compassion.― Tulsidas, Ramayana
“Ah, Toulouse, you have travelled too much. You know the gods of a hundred lands, those of the trees and mountains, the sky and sea, the stars and planets, of demons and angels, and even the Master of the Cosmos. But I am speaking of God. There are others, I’m sure, but only one God who created even great Zeus and Rama. Yet travel is like philosophy: a few years of it will perk the eye to differences, which you shall be able to notice with ease. Yet living as I have, travelling to lonely lands and through a thousand metropolises and hidden woods, you rather see the similarities. All becomes one, and God too becomes one. Not the sum of all those gods here, but beyond them, a being few philosophers have truly grasped. He has always been one, but he is severed in our minds. So it is up to us to piece him back together. If our souls possess a clarity beyond what our mortal nature can bestow, we shall see him.”― Mary-Jean Harris, Wrestling with Gods
“Lord Rama means One. When one gets this Oneness within and this Oneness is corroborated by the members of the human race, then no other desire arises. The mind is filled with the ambrosia of Oneness – any and every kind of desire (Kama) disappears, not to speak of any distinction.”― Sri Jibankrishna or Diamond

Nagpur: Babus of Nagpur Municipal Corporation are on their toes as a team of central observers arrived in Nagpur on Thursday for Swachh Survekshan 2022 and started inspecting the level of cleanliness in the city.
The NMC is optimistic about improving its ranking under Swachh Survekshan this year. The team collected data from the civic body and inspected various parts in the city. Swachh Bharat Survekshan was launched by the Central Government in the year 2015. In the first year, a survey was conducted in 476 cities in which Nagpur stood 256th.The next year, the survey was restricted to 73 cities and the Nagpur City finished 20th.
NMC’s performance in Swachh Bharat Survekshan in 2021 was very dismal. It slipped from 18th position in 2020 to 23rd last year. This year, Swachh Bharat Survekshan will carry 7,500 marks, divided between three different components — service-level progress (SLP 3,000 marks), certification (2,250) and citizens’ voice (2,250 marks). Service-level progress also includes documentation, segregated collection, procession and disposable, sustainable sanitation and ‘safai mitra suraksha’.
Under the certification category, NMC has already attained open defecation-free city Plus Plus certificate. This time, NMC will also be vying for certification in Water Plus Plus for reusing treated sewage water and garbage-free city. Under citizens’ voice category, the central team will check at least five major parameters comprising citizens’ engagement in app-based complaint method and their feedback. The team will also observe solid waste management systems being implemented in the city.
The survey is conducted in 500 cities across the country and hence, it is difficult for big cities like Nagpur, with a population of over 25 lakh, to compete with small towns that have a population of just 1 lakh and above. Nagpur ranked 137th out of 434 cities surveyed in 2017, while in 2018, it stood 55th out among the 100 cities covered under the Sarvekshan. The city’s worst standing, so far, came in the year 2019 when it stood 521st among 4,000 odd cities. However, in 2020, Nagpur city improved its performance and was ranked 18th in the Swachh Survekshan. Despite efforts taken by the administration to make the city garbage-free and clean, Nagpur slipped from 18th to 23rd position in 2021. Nagpur scored 3,721 marks out of 6,000 with 62.03 scoring percentage. In 2020, the city had scored 72.4% with 4,345 marks out of 6,000.
The Swachh Survekshan is divided into two groups of cities — 1 lakh to 10 lakh population category and above 10 lakh population category. Nagpur comes in the above 10 lakh category. Out of 48 cities having population above 10 lakh, Nagpur, now, stands at 23rd position.
Nagpur: Alert police foiled an attempt by Naxalites to inflict major casualties through an explosion In Bijapur district bordering Gadchiroli on Thursday. An Improvised Explosive Devise (IED), hidden between the two trees was recovered and defused
While conducting a search operation in Bijapur district, a joint team of Basaguda Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), they noticed an IED hidden between the two trees 400 metres away from Kottaguda locality. The alert security men with the help of Bomb Detection Squad defused the IED in the nick of time. Thus the cops foiled the sabotage plan of Naxals.
On April 23, President of India Ram Nath Kovind will attend a function hosted by the Indian Institute of Management, Nagpur (IIM-N).
According to reports, the President will dedicate the new IIM-N campus in MIHAN. This will be his first trip to Nagpur since becoming India’s President.
Nagpur was added to the list of IIMs in the country during the tenure of Devendra Fadnavis as Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Initially, it started functioning from the premises of Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) with IIM, Ahmedabad as its mentor.
Shifting of IIM-N to its own campus got delayed, the coronavirus pandemic being one of the reasons. After Dr Bhimaraya Metri took charge as its Director, developments in the institute gained momentum. Shifting of the institute to its own premises is one of those.
Nagpur: Though the government has allowed public gatherings and revoked all Covid restrictions, the Ram Navami shobhayatras, one of Nagpur’s unique identities, will largely be missed this year too.
While the older and bigger shobhayatra of Poddareshwar temple stands cancelled this year, the vibrant and colourful procession in West Nagpur will be a low-key affair with only six floats. Organizers of both the processions told TOI that they hardly got any time to prepare.
“We are happy that the restrictions are lifted after two years. Pashchim Nagpur Nagarik Sangh will take out shobhayatra this year. The South Central Zone Cultural Center (SCZCC) is preparing this year’s lead float which will be a replica of proposed Ram Mandir in Ayodhya,” said president of the group Ravi Waghmare. Apart from SCZCC, five big business houses in the city have sponsored five other floats in the shobhayatra. Instead of five to six band parties, only two — ‘Suyog Band’ and ‘Babulgaon sandhal’ — will participate in West Nagpur’s shobhayatra.
“We appeal citizens not to distribute refreshments or cold drinks during the procession this year. Such distribution requires proper permission from police. We should not take any risk as Covid is not completely diminished,” said secretary Rajiv Kalele.
West Nagpur’s procession will start from Ram Mandir in Ram Nagar at 5.30pm on Sunday. It will cover Bajiprabhu Chowk, Laxmi Bhuvan, Zenda Chowk, Shankar Nagar, Bajaj Nagar, Laxmi Nagar, Shraddhanand Peth, Abhyankar Nagar, Gandhi, Nagar and conclude at the Ram Mandir by 10.30pm.
On the other hand, Poddareshwar temple, which will be celebrating its centenary year and completing 100 years on Ram Navmi in 2023, has decided to suspend the shobhayatra this year too. “Preparations for our procession start at least two months in advance. This year, we could not start preparations at right time due to Covid restrictions. So, we decided not to take out procession this year too,” said Ramkrishna Poddar, managing trustee of the temple. All religious events are under way at the temple in traditional manner. He also informed that the trust is planning grand celebrations of 100th year of temple and the coming year will be a memorable one.
shobhayatras are not only cultural treat, but they boost the economy too. Experts in the field of float-making and event management told TOI that more than Rs20 crore turnover is witnessed during this event. Many professionals and artistes get their biggest assignment of the year during shobhayatras. The float costs anything between Rs50,000 to Rs4 lakh and more than 50 floats participate together in the two shobhayatras every year.
Post Covid Ram Navami
Poddareshwar Mandir shobhayatra cancelled for third time
Religious events under way in temple as per tradition
Procession in West Nagpur to be a low-key affair with six floats
Organizers have appealed people not to distribute refreshments, cold drinks
Only two band parties, select vehicles, and regulated participants allowed
Nagpur: In disappointing news for passengers, the Railways has withdrawn Tatkal and VIP quota in Mumbai-bound Vidarbha Express. The change resulted in reduction of two coaches — S-8 and S-9 — and in their place two generator cars have been added, according to reports.
However, Railways have a 120 days advance reservation period. After mulling various steps, Central Railway and South East Central Railway (SECR) officials decided to withhold Tatkal and emergency quota in Train No. 12106. This quota will be utilised to accommodate travellers booked in the two coaches that are withdrawn. The Railways is introducing LHB coaches in all long distance trains that enables comfortable travel and ensures speedier movement.
According to reports, there is one more change with conversion, that is the addition of two AC-III tier economy coaches in view of the summer season when demand for comfort travel increases.
The fare in economy AC-III tier is less than regular AC-III tier. The Tatkal and emergency quota will be utilised to accommodate the reserved passengers of the two coaches that are withdrawn. The change is being done with immediate effect to avoid inconvenience. Till further notice, travellers will not get the benefit of sleeper class Tatkal and VIP quota in Train No. 12106 Vidarbha Express.

Every person is a Hindu who considers India as his own, asserts RSS chief Dr Mohanji Bhagwat
Nagpur: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat, in an address to Kashmiri Pandits, said once “you go back to the state, you will not have to face any persecution like earlier”.
“The Pandits have been forced to leave the valley on eight occasions now for the same fundamentalism. Now, if they return they will go back as Hindus, patriots and completely assured of their security,” said Bhagwat.
He was addressing an online meet as part of a series of events to mark Navreh — the Kashmiri new year that falls on April 2. Bhagwat’s speech, which was delivered on Sunday, has been posted on the RSS’s Vishwa Samvad Kendra Facebook page.
Bhagwat said anyone harbouring any ill-feeling or trying to harm the Pandits will have to face dire consequences. “They can settle in such a manner that no one will be able to disrupt them again,” he said.
The event was organized by Sanjeevani Sharda Kendra, an association of Kashmiri Pandits. The Kendra, which is affiliated to the RSS, has also issued a resolution that Pandits would celebrate the next Navreh in Kashmir with their near and dear ones and they would also work for establishing peace in the state.
Bhagwat said the “people who lived with the Pandits earlier are still there”. “Their hatred may have come down, who knows. However, the ill-feeling needs to go completely,” he added. The RSS chief said its also time to accept what happened in Kashmir was wrong and to move on.
In another video speech related to Kashmir, Sah Sarkaryavah Arun Kumar talks about how the RSS had been proactive in spreading awareness about Kashmir. “The RSS strived to maintain the cultural link of Hindus with Kashmir. Had it been severed, the militants’ agenda would have been fulfilled. This included taking pilgrimages despite the high risk. After that when the terrorists started targeting Muslims, even they were provided relief,” he said.
Nagpur: The fuel prices on Wednesday witnessed another increase by 80 paise. This is the 14th increase in prices since the ending of a four-and-half-month long hiatus in rate revision on March 22.

Taking major action in the Mumbai land scam, the ED has attached assets worth about Rs 11 crore of Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut’s family. The ED has taken this action in the case related to Patra Chawl land scam.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has provisionally attached assets worth Rs 11.15 crore of three people, including Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut’s wife Varsha Raut, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in a case relating to irregularities in the redevelopment of the Patra Chawl project in Mumbai by a subsidiary of Housing Development and Infrastructure Ltd (HDIL).
The other individuals whose assets have been provisionally attached are businessman Pravin Raut and Swapna Patkar, wife of Sujit Patkar who is a close associate of Sanjay Raut.
The ED said its probe into the irregularities in the redevelopment of Patra chawl has found that a tripartite agreement was signed between the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) and Guru Ashish Construction Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Housing Development and Infrastructure Ltd (HDIL). As per the agreement, Guruashish was to provide flats to 672 tenants of the chawl, develop flats for MHADA and then sell the remaining area to private developers.
However, the directors of Guru Ashish Constructions, including Pravin Raut, misled MHADA and managed to sell the floor space index (FSI) to nine developers and collected Rs 901.79 crore without constructing the rehab portion for 672 displaced tenants or the MHADA portion, said the ED.
“Further, Guru Ashish Construction Pvt Ltd has also launched one project namely Meadows and took the booking of amount (of) around Rs 138 crore from flat buyers. The total proceeds of the crime generated by directors of Guru Ashish Constructions Pvt Ltd through the illegal activities was approximately Rs 1,039.79 crore,” said the ED statement.
The ED has alleged that in 2010, a part of the proceeds of crime of Rs 83 lakh was transferred to Varsha Raut from Madhuri Raut, wife of Pravin Raut. “This amount was utilized by Varsha Raut for purchase of flat at Dadar. It is also revealed that after initiation of ED investigation, the amount of Rs 55 lakh was transferred by Varsha Raut to Madhuri Raut,” the agency said.
The ED added that at least eight plots of land at Kihim beach at Alibaug in Maharashtra were purchased in the name of Varsha Raut and Swapna Patkar in 2010. These properties too have been provisionally attached, it said.
Nagpur: The Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court on Monday sought an upgraded status report from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the sensational murder of veteran architect Eknath Nimgade.
During the hearing on Monday, the High Court was not satisfied with the status report filed by the CBI. According to the petitioner lawyer Anupam Nimgade, son of the deceased architect, the premier investigating agency is not moving in the right direction while probing the murder case. He said that Nagpur police have made many revelations pertaining to the case. The CBI has been probing from the same angles. Ever since the probe was handed over to the premier investigating agency by the HC on October 17, 2016, there’s been hardly any progress in the murder, the lawyer petitioner pointed out. Subsequently, the High Court directed the CBI to file an upgraded status report in the murder case.
It may be recalled that the architect Eknath Nimgade was shot five times by assailants when he was returning from a morning walk on September 6, 2016, at Lal Imli Chowk in Nagpur. The Tehsil police had registered a case of murder and formed as many as 15 squads to trace the assailants. Eight shots had been fired at him, of which five bullets pierced his body.
After the police failed to find the culprits for a long time, his son and lawyer Anupam Nimgade had approached the judiciary, demanding an inquiry by CBI. His family members had also claimed the police had been pressurizing them to make confessions and were shoddy in their investigations.
Did you know that Lord Ram had an elder sister? Why did Kaikeyi ask for Lord Ram to be exiled only for 14 years? How did the city of Nasik get its name? Did you know the common thread that links Lord Ram and Gautam Buddha? For centuries, The Ramayana has been touted as India’s most celebrated Text, the itihas, that has shaped the collective consciousness of our whole nation. However, despite being deeply rooted in our culture, there continues to be a surfeit of lesser-known stories that exist around Ramayana. And it’s time we unravel the same. Amish said, “Ramayan is the proud heritage of every single Indian, regardless of religion, caste, language or gender. And I discovered the truth of this feeling even more as we shot for this documentary. There were so many lesser-known stories and traditions that we discovered, some genuinely surprising. What an honour it has been, to travel with the wonderful team of Discovery and Wide Angle Films, as we followed the path that was trod many millennia ago, by our God, Lord Ram Himself. It was enlightening, it was fun, it was surreal.’
Megha Tata, Managing Director- South Asia, Discovery Inc. said, “Indian mythology is the melting pot of the most magnificent stories and ideas, yet largely under explored. Travel Time From Nagpur To Pune To Be Cut Down To 8 Hours: Nitin Gadkari
Nagpur: The Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has directed Nagpur Municipal Commissioner Radhakrishnan B to get shops under the Railway Station flyover vacated so that road widening work can be carried out. The minister has asked the civic chief to settle the issue within 15 days.
The Minister said that the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) should provide monetary compensation to the shopkeepers who want to surrender their rights and settle the matter within a fortnight. Gadkari gave this directive during a review meeting on the progress of the six-lane road work in front of the Nagpur Railway Station. The meeting was held at Gadkari’s residence and was attended by former Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari, MLC Pravin Datke, MLAs Vikas Kumbhare and Mohan Mate, Prakash Bhoyar, former Chairperson, Standing Committee, Municipal Commissioner Radhakrishnan B, District Collector Vimala R and others.
The Tekdi Road fly-over was built with a life span of 30-year but within 12- years it is sought to be razed to pave for a six lane road in front of Railway Station. While 72 shopkeepers are ready to shift to a new place, 78 others have sought return of their money.
Gadkari also reviewed progress of Budhwar Bazaar commercial complex and sought the reason for delay in floating of tenders. During the meeting it emerged that NMC has not yet got a property card of the land as the record is not with the civic body. The issue relates to the City Survey No. 1 office holding up issuance of property card on which the Collector was sought to explain the stance. Collector immediately contacted her officials and directed them to sort out the matter. As Pravin Datke raised the issue, the Municipal Commissioner explained that since additional FSI is being granted, there is a requirement of a property card as per rules of New Development Plan.

Maharashtra, which suffered worst from Covid, will say goodbye to all pandemic-related restrictions from Saturday as the state welcomes the Marathi New Year. The use of masks will be advised, but it will not be compulsory, the state government said. Bengal and Delhi too, removed the “mandatory” tag from masks, though their use has been advised in crowded areas.
In Maharashtra, the announcement came from the Office of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
“All COVID restrictions in Maharashtra will be lifted, as we bring in the new year this Gudi Padwa!” read a tweet from its handle, referring to the spring festival to mark the traditional New Year for Marathi and Konkani Hindus.
The decision to drop all restrictions after nearly two years was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, the state Health Minister, Rajesh Tope, told reporters.
The number of fresh daily Covid infections in the state has dwindled to around 100 a day and no new fatalities are being reported. On Monday, there were 964 active cases across 35 districts. Yavatmal, Washim and Hingoli districts have zero active cases, read a report from the state health department.
Altogether, the state has reported 78,73,619 cases of infections since the outbreak started in 2020; 1,47,780 people have died, the health department said.
Over the last couple of months, the countrywide Covid figures have also dropped. Over the last 24 hours, the country reported 1,225 new coronavirus infections, the number of active cases dipped to 14,307.The number of fatalities rose to 5,21,129 with 28 fresh deaths.
The total number of infections so far is 4,30,24,440.
Maharashtra, which bore the brunt of Covid through the first and second wave, had implemented tough restrictions, banning processions and physical “darshan” at pandals during last year’s Ganesh Chaturthi, the state’s biggest festival. The police declared that any violation will incur strict action.
Nagpur: In yet another dimming incident of avarice school harassing gullible parents in lieu of future of their ward, Sandipani School administration is reportedly seeking full payment of past curriculum despite school’s assurance of some relief owing to online teachings.
A group of parents on the condition of anonymity narrated their ordeal to Nagpur Today. They claimed that the Sandipani school administration not only threatened to jeopardize the future of their children by not promoting them but also behaved rudely with the parents as they were unable to pay school fees.
“The Covid time has already been tough for all. The pandemic not only attributed to crash crunches and job loss in front of us but also took a toll on the future of our children. Owing to the drastic time, the schools were shifted to online mode. As there were no physical classes, the Sandipani School administration had promised us some relief in fees during the pandemic time. However, recently, as the Covid curve declined the physical classes resumed. But the school administration is now seeking complete fees,” parents have alleged.
“They are asking us to pay complete fees or withdraw our ward’s admission from the school. It’s not like we are not willing to pay the fees. All we are asking for some time, but the school administration is being rudely behaving with us,” they said.
On being contacted, no one from Sandipani School was available for the comments.
NAGPUR: As many 45 passengers had a miraculous escape after a moving Aapli bus caught fire near Medical College Square on Thursday morning.
No casualties were reported, said Rajendra Uchake, chief fire officer of Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s fire and emergency services department.
CFO Uchake said at around 9.46am, the Aapli bus was coming from Titur (on Umred road) to Sitabuldi when fire engulfed the bus.
The blaze started from the engine area below driver’s cabin, the preliminary probe indicated.
“Though a fire extinguisher was there in his cabin, the driver Divakar Kakde could not use it in panic,” said the CFO. On being informed, two fire tenders from Cotton Market and Sakkardara fire stations attended the fire call and within half an hour, the fire was doused completely.

This article is designed to give tips to readers about how they can improve or augment actions in their life to have a healthy lifestyle; it is not meant to be all inclusive but will include major components that are considered to be parts of a lifestyle that lead to good health. In addition to the tips about what people should do for healthy living, the article will mention some of the tips about avoiding actions (the don’ts) that lead to unhealthy living.
Healthy eating (diet and nutrition)
All humans have to eat food for growth and maintenance of a healthy body, but we humans have different nutrition requirements as infants, children (kids), teenagers, young adults, adults, and seniors. For example, infants may require feeding every 4 hours until they gradually age and begin to take in more solid foods. Eventually they develop into the more normal pattern of eating three times per day as young kids. However, as most parents know, kids, teenagers, and young adults often snack between meals. Snacking is often not limited to these age groups because adults and seniors often do the same.
Tips for everyday healthy eating:
Eat three healthy meals a day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner); it is important to remember that dinner does not have to be the largest meal.
The bulk of food consumption should consist of healthy foods, such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and fat-free or low-fat milk products.
Incorporate lean meats, poultry, fish, beans, eggs, and nuts (with emphasis on beans and nuts) into a healthy diet.
Choose foods that are low in saturated fats, trans fats, cholesterol, salt (sodium), and added sugars; look at the labels because the first listed items on the labels comprise the highest concentrations of ingredients.
Control portion sizes; eat the smallest portion that can satisfy hunger and then stop eating.
Healthy snacks are OK in moderation and should consist of items like fruit, whole grains, or nuts to satisfy hunger and not cause excessive weight gain.
Avoid sodas and sugar-enhanced drinks because of the excessive calories in the sodas and sugar drinks; diet drinks may not be a good choice as they make some people hungrier and increase food consumption.
Avoid eating a large meal before sleeping to decrease gastroesophageal reflux and weight gain.
If a person is angry or depressed, eating will not solve these situations and may make the underlying problems worse.
Avoid rewarding children with sugary snacks; such a pattern may become a lifelong habit for people.
Avoid heavy meals in the summer months, especially during hot days.
A vegetarian lifestyle has been promoted for a healthy lifestyle and weight loss; vegetarians should check with their physicians to be sure they are getting enough vitamins, minerals, and iron in their diet.
Cooking foods (above 165 F) destroys most harmful bacteria and other pathogens; if you choose to eat uncooked foods like fruits or vegetables, they should be thoroughly washed with running treated (safe to drink) tap water right before eating.
Avoid eating raw or undercooked meats of any type.
Tips for special situations:
People with diabetes should use the above tips and monitor their glucose levels as directed; try to keep the daily blood glucose levels as close to normal as possible.
People with unusual work schedules (night shifts, college students, military) should try to adhere to a breakfast, lunch, and dinner routine with minimal snacking.
People who prepare food should avoid using grease or frying foods in grease.
People trying to lose weight (body fat) should avoid all fatty and sugary foods and eat mainly vegetables, fruits, and nuts and markedly reduce his/her intake of meat and dairy products.
Seek medical advice early if you cannot control your weight, food intake, or if you have diabetes and cannot control your blood glucose levels.
