Tarri poha

This is the archetypal Nagpuri breakfast but you can savour a plate of delicious poha (a spicy pilaf of sorts made with soaked flattened rice) with spicy curried black gram or chickpeas, with the tarri on the side, anytime of the day.The dish is best had by pouring the tarri on the poha, topping it up with finely chopped onions and finishing with a squeeze of lime. Sony has launched its flagship Bravia OLED A1 television series in India at a starting price of Rs 3,64,900. The new Sony Bravia OLED A1 television series comes with 4K display, High Dynamic Range (HDR) support and has a new image processor as well. The A1 series also comes with Acoustic Woofers, which Sony claims makes these the world’s first large screen television sets with powerful sound.

Sony has launched two variants of the A1 OLED series: KD-65A1, which is a 65-inch television set, while the KD-55A1 is 55-inch version. The KD-65A1 is priced at Rs 4,64,900, while the 55-inch version costs Rs 3,64,900.

Sony says the new television sets have over 8 million “self-illuminating, individually controlled OLED pixels,” which help offer a high quality visual experience along with supreme contrast, depth, texture details when viewing content on the TV. The 4K HDR OLED panel has a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, and the TVs come with a 4K HDR Processor X1 Extreme.

Th other highlight of the A1 series is the new Acoustic Surface Technology, and the television comes with an integrated subwoofer behind the TV. This ensures powerful sound in the TV set itself, claims Sony. Samsung is believed to be hard at work on its next-generation wearable device, dubbed the Gear Fit2 Pro. While some reports have said the Gear Fit2 Pro will be a slightly more polished version of the Gear Fit2, other scattered reports suggest the wearable will be an all-new device. Ahead of the August 23 launch, reputable leakster Evan Blass via VentureBeat has revealed even more details about the upcoming wearable.

According to Blass, the Gear Fit2 Pro will be an enhanced version of the existing Gear Fit2, which was launched in June last year. Its design is similar to the Gear Fit2, and generally speaking, the new model should be seen as a ‘Pro’ version. Just like its predecessor, the Gear Fit2 Pro retains a curved AMOLED screen and is based on Tizen OS, although it will be compatible with Android and iOS devices.

The report says the new model will come packed with a built-in GPS – after all this wearable is being pitched as the ultimate fitness tracker. Moreover, the fitness tracker will also get offline Spotify music playback feature. This could be an important feature for some users. Apple is expected to launch a more advanced version of the Apple TV set top box that supports 4K content. A report from MacRumors suggests that iTunes could soon start offering movies in 4K and HDR, meaning a new model of the Apple TV is on the way.

In a discussion forum on the MacRumors forums (via Apple Insider), users have spotted that recent films like Passengers and Fantastic Beats and Where to Find Them had ‘4K’ and ‘HDR’ mentions in both rented and owned sections of the films. However, given that there is no 4K support on iTunes yet, it appears that Apple could add ultra high-definition support in the near future. This can be said because users were able to download movies in 720p or 1080p resolutions.

It’s safe to assume that Apple is planning to come with the new version of the Apple TV with ultra high-definition (4K) support. Earlier this year, in February, Bloomberg reported that Apple could launch the fifth-generation Apple TV as early as this year. The next-generation Apple is internally code-named ” J105″ with support for “more vivid colours”. Apple hasn’t confirmed the arrival of the fifth-generation Apple TV into the market.

Disney’s Magic Bench Puts You in the Picture with Animated Figures

Disney’s Magic Bench designed by Disney Research lets you interact with endearing animated characters and no special glasses or headsets are required.

Instead, the complete environment — the seat, the sitter and the cartoon humanoid animals is mirrored on a screen opposite the bench, making it possible for others to watch the scene unfold.

How does the illusion work? A camera and sensor capture images and gather depth information about physical objects — the bench and the person — that algorithms integrate with the 3D animations, the researchers wrote in a study. Meanwhile, haptic sensors built into the bench deliver vibrations that are synchronized to animated actions on the screen, creating the illusion that the animated figures are occupying real-world space next to the user.

Augmented-reality overlays animated elements into views of the real world, typically by using special optical devices or mobile technology. However, one of its limitations is that its illusion can be glimpsed by only a single user. The Magic Bench allows groups of people to gather in a single environment and collectively participate in an augmented- reality experience, all at the same time, according to the study authors.

Sitting on the bench triggers the augmented-reality experience, introducing a character into the scene. In a video demonstration, a small cartoon donkey trots into view and kicks the bench, generating a sharp sound and making the seated person jump in surprise. Another test shows two people on the bench, reacting as they “feel” an animated rabbit leap up beside them and jump up and down. When a user passes his hand over the rabbit, a shadow moves across its head — as though it were occupying the same physical space as the person next to it.

Researchers used the real-color camera and the depth and color sensors in a Microsoft Kinect to capture the real-world scene of the Magic Bench and the person (or people) on it. Rebuilding them in 3D places the bench between a foreground and background, which can then be populated with whimsical characters. But the Disney engineers discovered that if the reconstructed 3D scene were viewed at an angle, missing data and a small difference in alignment between the camera and sensor created gaps in the image known as “depth shadows.”

To eliminate these depth shadows, designers layered another element into the scene — a 2D background captured by the Kinect’s RGB camera, which seamlessly aligned with the scene when viewed head-on, the study authors wrote. Once the “stage” is set, it’s ready to be shared with animated co-stars — from elephants offering up a glowing orb to a giraffe lending an umbrella during a sudden drizzle.

It is always a big thing when the auto industry’s strongest product undergoes an update and it is no different this time around with the modern era Maruti Suzuki Swift undergoing its third major update. The car was showcased for the Japanese market towards the end of last year and should arrive in the Indian market by the end of this year with a similar design and underpinnings.

The exterior of this new generation Swift has been updated in the form of a revised fascia which gets sleeker headlamps, revised grille and a sporty bumper which has a recessed front air intake. There is a sense of familiarity when you move to the side as the side profile is more or less the same since this version of the Swift was launched in 2004. At the back we can see a new wrap around design for the tail lamps, chunky bumper and slightly lowered roofline to give the car a sporty appearance.

Step inside and you are greeted by a black and grey cabin with the seats getting contrast coloured bases. The feature list on the Japanese car is quit extensive and includes things like a touchscreen infotainment system with reversing camera, climate control and leather upholstery. We in India are expected to get a slightly toned down cabin with a locally sourced infotainment system, pseudo leather trim and climate control only for the higher spec models.

On the engine and gearbox front, this car will be offered with the 1.2-litre petrol, 1.3-litre diesel and possibly at least one version that will make use of the RS spec 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine. The standard 1.2-litre unit is a four-cylinder engine producing 83/115Nm while the diesel (also a four-pot) produces 75bhp/190Nm.

Finally the RS variant’s engine will produce 110bhp/170Nm. A five-speed manual will be standard for all model while normal models will also get the option of an AMT.

This was one of the first mass religious conversions in the history of India.

It is famous for the Nagpur orange and is known as the “Orange City” for being a major trade centre of oranges cultivated in the region. The city was founded in 1703 by the Gonds King Bakht Buland Shah of Deogarh and later became a part of the Maratha Empire under the royal Bhonsale dynasty. The British East India Company took over Nagpur in the 19th century and made it the capital of the Central Provinces and Berar. After the first reorganisation of states, the city lost its status as the capital. Following the informal “Nagpur Pact” between political leaders, it was made the second capital of Maharashtra.

Nagpur was the capital of Central & Berar Province for 100 years and after the State Reorganisation, in 1956, Nagpur and Vidarbha region become part of the new Maharashtra State. According to the Nagpur Pact, Nagpur is the second capital of Maharashtra and the winter session of state legislature and the state legislative council takes place in Vidhan Bhavan, Nagpur.

Nagpur Metro is an under construction

Nagpur Metro is an under-construction rapid transit system for the city of Nagpur, India. It is estimated to cost ₹86.80 billion (US$1.4 billion). In February 2014, the Government of Maharashtra gave approval for the Metro Project, while Government of India’s Ministry of Urban Development had given “In Principle” approval for the Project. On 20 August 2014, Union Cabinet gave approval for the development of the project, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone on 21 August on his visit to the city. Construction on the project began on 31 May 2015, with trial run expected by the mid of 2017 and an anticipated partial commercial operation on line 1 in 2018.

To execute the project, the Cabinet approved setting up of Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation Limited (NMRCL) now known as MahaMetro . NMRCL is a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) created for the smooth implementation and operations of the Nagpur Metro Rail Project and is a joint venture of Government of India and Government of Maharashtra, with 50:50 equity. NMRCL shall be solely responsible for the successful and timely completion of the project and its subsequent operations. The project is scheduled to be completed by March 2018.

Detailed project report

DMRC submitted the report to the nodal agecy Nagpur Improvement Trust on 12 February 2013. The total cost of the project was estimated at around ₹90 billion. The project consisted of two routes: Automotive square, Kamptee to MIHAN Metro depot and Prajapati Nagar, East Wardhaman Nagar to Lokmanya Nagar, Hingna. There would be 17 stations on Route no. 1 with a terminal cum depot at MIHAN and 19 stations on Route no. 2 with a terminal cum depot at Lokmanya Nagar. A cross major station was proposed at Munje Square where the two routes would meet and the commuter would be able to exchange the routes.

It was expected that 12.21 percent of Nagpur’s estimated population of 2.9 million in 2021, i.e., around 363,000 commuters would use the Metro by 2021.

To provide first and last mile connectivity, feeder services such as shuttle buses, battery operated vehicles, pedestrian facilities and bicycle sharing schemes were included in the project. There would be 19 feeder routes covering all stations and a total distance of around 160 km. Feeder services would enhance the accessibility of the Metro for all classes of commuters, to and from homes and offices.

Nagpur Metro Route

According to the venture gauges, Rs 8,680 crore will be put resources into the Nagpur Metro Rail Project, out of which Rs 1,555 crore will be contributed through the Government of India. The Government of India will contribute monetarily to the undertaking as subordinate obligation and value. Likewise, the task will get money related backing from the Improvement Trust of Nagpur, City itself and Industrial Development Corporation, Maharashtra Airport Development Company, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation and Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation and

The endeavor will be finished under the supervision of the Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation, which will be driven by the Urban Development Secretary. For the post of the Directors on the Board of the organization, there will be 10 chosen people, out of which five will be named by the Government of India and five by the state government. Additionally, the Managing Director of the organization will be a chosen one of the Maharashtra government.

Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (NMRCL) will soon be re-constituted into MAHA-METRO – Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation for implementation of all Metro Rail Projects in Maharashtra excluding the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. It has already begun implementation of Pune Metro Rail Project from December 2016.

Due to its central location, Nagpur is a very important railway junction and a transit for almost all the trains that connect the country lengthwise and breadthwise, especially trains connecting India’s four major metropoles (Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and Kolkata) located in the four corners of the country.

A total of 242 trains from various destinations halt at Nagpur, making it one of the most busiest junctions all over the country. These include passenger, express, mail, Duronto, rajdhani, garib rath trains. Of these 65 are daily trains and 26 terminate/originate from Nagpur. Almost 150,000 passengers board/leave Nagpur Railway Station Daily. The main railway station in Nagpur city is the Nagpur railway station, while the much smaller Ajni, Itwari, Kalamna, Kamptee, and Khapri are the other railway stations in the city’s vicinity. There is a long felt need for a Nagpur metro rail service on the lines of Delhi metro, as it is expected that Nagpur is set to grow exponentially in the coming years. Recently Laursen and Toubro (LandT) was appointed to prepare a report on transport needs of Nagpur Metropoliton Area by 2020. In its report, LandT has recommended an elevated Monorail system and an MMTS (Multimodel Mass Transit System) for Nagpur. It also suggested minimum of 1500 city buses and BRTS (Bus Rapid Transit System) on selected routes.

Nagpur railway station was built in 1867 and is located in center of Nagpur. It is located on foot of Sitabuldi hill which has the historic fort on it. It is the headquarters of Nagpur division of central and south-eastern Indian railway lines. Another nearby station Ajni serves mostly as cargo terminal. British India had opened the Bombay–Bhusawal–Nagpur line in 1867 to link the cotton growing Vidarbha region with port city of Bombay. Later this line was extended to Howrah station on east.

The main building is made up of pink sandstone just like other colonial structures of Reserve Bank of India, Vidhan Bhavan, Nagpur. The building is declared as heritage site. Ministry of Indian railways has recently selected Nagpur Railway Station for development and a one time package of INR 1 billion has been allocated for its up gradation of existing station. A new flyover has been built in front of station to reduce traffic congestion. Another world class station is coming up at MIHAN to serve Nagpur. Recently closed circuit camera vigilance has been put on Nagpur station.

Apart from Nagpur Main Railway Station, there are several local stations within Nagpur. These include Itwari, Ajni, Kalamna, Khapri, Godhni, Bharatwada, Gumgaon, Kapmtee, Kanhan, Ramtek, Butibori. Itwari has been recently converted into terminus by South East Central Railway. It is the terminus for many passenger and local MEMU trains. Local trains run from Itwari to various north, north-east and eastern sub-suburbs of Nagpur, Ramtek>>Kanhan>>Kamptee>>Kalamna>>Itwari being the hottest for pilgrims. Many passenger trains to destinations like Chhindwara (Narrow Gauge), Jabalpur, Raipur, Gondia, Tatanagar, originate here. Apart from that many trains running on Nagpur-Howrah route halt here. Itwari is mostly used by traders and businessmen from North, North-east suburbs and eastern parts of Nagpur.

Ajni is another major station lying on Nagpur-Mumbai/Chennai route and comes under Central Railway. Almost all the trains have a brief stop of about 2 minutes at this station. This station is mainly used by residents of Central, West, South-West and Southern suburbs of Nagpur and short-distance daily travellers. Trains terminating at Nagpur get almost 80 percent emptied here. And trains originating from Nagpur filled here with almost 40 percent.

Domestic airlines such as Indian Airlines, Jet Airways, Indigo, kingfisher Airlines, GoAir, Sahara and Air Deccan connect Nagpur with major cities like Mumbai (8 flights daily), Delhi (4 flights daily), Ahemdabad (2 flight daily), Pune (2 flight daily), Bangalore (2 flights daily) Indore (3 flights daily), Hyderabad (3 flights daily and 1, 4 times a week), and Kolkata (1 flight daily and another twice a week). Indigo has announced plans to start a new direct service to connect Nagpur and Chennai.

In October 2005, Nagpur’s erstwhile Sonegaon Airport was declared an international airport and was renamed Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport. Initial flights between Nagpur and Sharjah were launched by Air Arabia with the intention of tapping the strong demand for international travel within Central India. In April 2006, Indian Airlines connected Nagpur and Bangkok with a non-stop twice weekly service. Likewise, Qatar Airways has started a twice-weekly service from Nagpur to Doha as well as Air India Express started flight services to Dubai 3 days a week from 24 September 2007; SilkAir to start for Singapore & Emirates Airlines to Dubai shortly.

State transport

Nagpur is the divisional headquarters of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) and also holds one of the three bus workshops in the state. MSRTC runs cheaper transport service for intercity, interstate, interstate travel. It has two bus stations in Nagpur viz. Nagpur Bus Sthanak (CBS-1) at Ganeshpeth and MorBhawan (CBS-2) at Jhansi Rani Square, Sitabuldi. It operates 1600 daily services from CBS-1 to long and short distances within state and to places in other surrounding states. It also operates 750 daily services from CBS-2 to short distances within Vidarbha. Its services include semiluxury 2+2 NEEM AARAAM, Parivartan 2+2, Asiad 2+2, and ordinary ST 2+3.Bus services are available for big cities in and around the states like Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Raipur, Satna, Rewa, Raipur, Panna, Amravati, Raipur, Jagdalpur, Bilaspur, Mandla, Katni, Pune, Aurangabad, Nashik, Mumbai, Nanded, Akola, Jalgaon, Bhusawal, Rajnandgaon, Parbhani and Gondia.

Nagpur Railway Station located in the four corners of the country

Due to its central location, Nagpur is a very important Nagpur Railway Station and a transit for almost all the trains that connect the country lengthwise and breadthwise, especially trains connecting India’s four major metropoles (Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and Kolkata) located in the four corners of the country.

A total of 242 trains from various destinations halt at Nagpur, making it one of the most busiest junctions all over the country. These include passenger, express, mail, Duronto, rajdhani, garib rath trains. Of these 65 are daily trains and 26 terminate/originate from Nagpur. Almost 150,000 passengers board/leave Nagpur Railway Station Daily. The main railway station in Nagpur city is the Nagpur railway station, while the much smaller Ajni, Itwari, Kalamna, Kamptee, and Khapri are the other railway stations in the city’s vicinity. There is a long felt need for a Nagpur metro rail service on the lines of Delhi metro, as it is expected that Nagpur is set to grow exponentially in the coming years. Recently Laursen and Toubro (LandT) was appointed to prepare a report on transport needs of Nagpur Metropoliton Area by 2020. In its report, LandT has recommended an elevated Monorail system and an MMTS (Multimodel Mass Transit System) for Nagpur. It also suggested minimum of 1500 city buses and BRTS (Bus Rapid Transit System) on selected routes.

Nagpur railway station was built in 1867 and is located in center of Nagpur. It is located on foot of Sitabuldi hill which has the historic fort on it. It is the headquarters of Nagpur division of central and south-eastern Indian railway lines. Another nearby station Ajni serves mostly as cargo terminal. British India had opened the Bombay–Bhusawal–Nagpur line in 1867 to link the cotton growing Vidarbha region with port city of Bombay. Later this line was extended to Howrah station on east .

The main building is made up of pink sandstone just like other colonial structures of Reserve Bank of India, Vidhan Bhavan, Nagpur. The building is declared as heritage site. Ministry of Indian railways has recently selected Nagpur Railway Station for development and a one time package of INR 1 billion has been allocated for its up gradation of existing station. A new flyover has been built in front of station to reduce traffic congestion. Another world class station is coming up at MIHAN to serve Nagpur. Recently closed circuit camera vigilance has been put on Nagpur station.

Futala Lake

Futala Lake is one of the lakes in Nagpur in the Indian state of Maharashtra.The lake is spread over 60 acres. Built by Bhosle kings of Nagpur, the lake is known for its coloured fountains. In the evenings the place is illuminated with halogen lights and Tanga (carriage) ride. The lake is surrounded on three sides by forest and a landscaped Chowpatty on one side.

In western area of Nagpur, ancient Futala Lake exists for 200 years. In absence of maintenance, the use of this prehistoric lake was limited to cattle washing only. It was therefore decided in the year 2003 to beautify this lake from NIT fund with equal aid from State Government.

The work was decided to be done in two stage, desilting was done on large scale along with removal of Lotus plants and other waste from lake. The work included repairing of Eastern side guard wall of lake, construction of path way with granite stone paving, widening of 18 m wide road under I.R.D.P., road side guard wall and landscaping berms, parking and garden bays on other side of road, fixing decorative lamp, benches, attractive dust bins etc. For watering of plants and landscaping, sprinkler system was provided. For sufficient lighting purpose, four high masts were fixed in the vicinity of lake. Two colored fountains of 15 feet and one white and fountain of 100 feet, as such total three floating fountains were set up in lake . The work of Immersion Ghat with three ramps on South side and guard wall of lake with sand beach on North side was also done in the same phase.

In the second phase of beautification, road berms were cleaned and interlocking paving blocks were fixed on road Hanuman Temple to Futala Lake and surrounding triangular land in front of Temple. About 1300m road was paved under this to solve the grave parking problem raised due to famous Hanuman temple and beautification done.

Visvesvaraya Regional College of Engineering, Nagpur (VRCE), is a public engineering and research institution in India. It is located in Nagpur, Maharashtra, in central India. It was established in June 1960 by the Government of India and later named in honor of engineer, planner and statesman, Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology Nagpur (VNIT Nagpur)

VNIT Nagpur is centrally-funded and belongs to the National Institutes of Technology (NIT) system. In 2007, the institute was conferred the status of Institute of National Importance by an Act of Parliament of India. The institute awards bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees in engineering, technology and architecture.

The institute has academic collaboration with the many universities in India and abroad. During the year 2015 alone, VNIT Nagpur signed 7 MoUs with International Universities and 21 MoUs with National Institutions, Laboratories and Industries.These collaborative programmes include student and faculty exchange, internships for students and joint research activities among others.

Why is Nagpur called the zero mile centre?

Zero Mile Stone is a monument locating the geographical centre of colonial India in the city of Nagpur, Maharashtra. The Zero Mile Stone was erected by the British who used this point to measure all the distances. The Zero Mile Stone consists of four horses and a pillar made up of sandstone. In 2008, The Times of India undertook to maintain the monument for the next 5 years.

It is located on the south east of Vidhan Bhavan, Nagpur.

The British rulers considered Nagpur to be the centre of India and hence identified this point and constructed the Zero Mile Stone. Earlier India was divided into provinces and Nagpur was the capital of CP & Berar Province. Later when states were created, Nagpur was incorporated into Maharashtra, and as Nagpur had been the capital of CP & Berar, even though it was geographically shifted to Maharashtra, the status of second capital was granted to Nagpur.it is also known as capital of Vidarbha.

The Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University was established as Nagpur university on 4 August 1923 with six affiliated colleges and 927 students. During 1947, the number of students increased to about 9000 accompanied by the improvement and diversification of curricula and expansion in the range of subjects. The expansion of library and sports facilities occurred during these years for the intellectual and physical well being of the students. It was in 1958 that some new Departments in Arts and Social Science faculties were opened; the major expansion, however, came in 1963 when several science and other teaching Departments were started. The departments were shifted to spacious buildings in the main campus in 1972-73.

In later years, several career oriented courses have been started viz., Business Management, Fine Arts, Mass Communication, Library Science, Physical Education, etc. In May 1983, the university was divided to form Amravati University. In September 2011 the university was again divided to part way for the Gondwana University. In 2005, the university was renamed to Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University after Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj, a renowned spiritual person from Vidarbha.

The University comprises the Faculties of Arts & Humanities, Science, Social Sciences, Home Science, Medicine, Commerce, Education, Engineering & Technology, Law, and Ayurveda consisting of 39 Postgraduate teaching departments (PGTD) and three constituent colleges/institutions (Law college, College of Education, Laxminarayan Institute of Technology). The department and conducted college/institution buildings are spread over seven campuses with an overall area of 327 acres. There are 842 colleges affiliated to the university in the districts of Nagpur, Wardha, Bhandara and Gondia in the state of Maharashtra.

The research programs in almost all thirty-nine Departments and three conducted Colleges are propelled through M. Phil., Ph.D. and Post-Doc. It is ranked 11th by Careers360 ranking of top government Pharmacy colleges in India 2017.

History:

Ganesh Tekdi Mandir is believe to be about 250 years old. The temple started out with being an ordinary tin shed with the idol. In the 1970s, the army took possession of this structure and improved it but the main change came in 1978. The construction of the temple was taken up as a big project and devotees donated generously to help the process. The present-day structure got shape in 1984.It was accomplished by the late Shri Ganpatrao Joshi and a few other devotees. As time passed by, it was realised that the temple premises could not accommodate the large number of devotees. The trustees of the temple appealed to the Defence Ministry which helped them acquire 20,000 sq. ft. more of the land.

The idol of the temple, which is about four feet tall is believed to be swayambhu (self-existent). It is said that originally the idol was very small in shape, but gradually it grew bigger and bigger, increasing in size. The idol is is beautifully adorned with several golden and silver ornaments at the forehead. Among the ornaments, there is a particular piece namely Mukut (crown) which is exhibited only on the occasion of Chaturthi and Ekadashi.

Numerous devotees visited the temple every day, especially on festive occasions and religious ceremonies. Every year in the Paush month on the Sankashti Chaturthi day a grand yatra called as Tekdi Ganapati Yatra is held. The specialty of the temple is the Aarti ceremony, which is performed four times daily (6.30 am, 12.30 pm, 7.pm, 11.30 pm) and Modaka is distributed after the Aartis as a divine gift. Tekdi Ganapati Temple, managed by the temple trustees, is opens from 6.00 am.
