I am very sad at the moment. I would have returned a happy man had we won,” said Dananjaya after taking 6/54, his maiden five-wicket haul in ODIs, in the second One-dayer against India that Sri Lanka lost by three wickets.

The spinner took six wickets for 11 runs in just 21 balls as he saw off India’s middle order. He claimed three wickets in the 18th over.
Four of his dismissals came off the wrong ones, which Indian batsmen simply couldn’t pick.
“I am an off-spinner. Wicket taking bowls are leg-spin and the googly. I bowl a lot of off spin. Work with Piyal Wijetunga (Sri Lankan spin coach) and if I need to bowl variations, Piyal tells me to do so as well,” said Akila Dananjaya.
“I realised that the off-spin was not helping much. So I decided to get back to my variations. The target we had to defend wasn’t too much either. So we had to take wickets. I bowled a lot of variations and it went really well,” he added.
Sri Lanka eventually lost the game, thanks to a 100-run unbeaten eighth-wicket partnership between Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The duo rescued India from a precarious 131/7.
Dananjaya was taken off bowling after eight overs and that allowed the Indian pair to settle down.
“They were set and I thought better to get back later on if someone breaks the partnership. We wanted to win the game. Once wickets come along we also gained confidence. But Bhuvi and Dhoni were superb. They batted really well against our bowlers. Nothing much of a change on the wicket,” he said.
Sri Lanka’s interim coach Nic Pothas said, “Captain on the field has a gut feeling. How he is going to use his bowlers. Upul (Tharanga) would have kept him back hoping for a wicket. Once we speak to Upul at the end of the day we will get to know better.”
Dananjaya joined the team just ahead of the second ODI after his wedding.
“Wedding was in the afternoon. When I got back to the team hotel it was around 11:30 in the night. I wanted to reach earlier than that but it took a little longer. The wedding was at Moratuwa. Finished around 4pm and we were bit late when we came,” he said.

Positive and negative impact of GST in India : The introduction of Goods and Services Tax (GST) would be a very significant step in the field of indirect tax reforms in India. By amalgamating a large number of Central and State taxes into a single tax, it would mitigate cascading or double taxation in a major way and pave the way for a common national market. From the consumer point of view, the biggest advantage would be in terms of a reduction in the overall tax burden on goods, which is currently estimated to be around 25%-30%. Introduction of GST would also make Indian products competitive in the domestic and international markets. Studies show that this would have a boosting impact on economic growth. Genesis
The idea of moving towards the GST was first mooted by the then Union Finance Minister in his Budget for 2007-08. Initially, it was proposed that GST would be introduced from 1st April, 2010. The Empowered Committee of State Finance Ministers (EC) which had formulated the design of State VAT was requested to come up with a roadmap and structure for the GST. Joint Working Groups of officials having representatives of the States as well as the Centre were set up to examine various aspects of the GST and draw up reports specifically on exemptions and thresholds, taxation of services and taxation of inter-State supplies. Based on discussions within and between it and the Central Government, the EC released its First Discussion Paper (FDP) on GST in November, 2009. This spells out the features of the proposed GST and hasformed the basis for discussion between the Centre and the States sofar.
GST and Centre-State Financial Relations
Currently, fiscal powers between the Centre and the States are clearly demarcated in the Constitution with almost no overlap between the respective domains. The Centre has the powers to levy tax on the manufacture of goods (except alcoholic liquor for human consumption, opium, narcotics etc.) while the States have the powers to levy tax on sale of goods. In case of inter-State sales, the Centre has the power to levy a tax (the Central Sales Tax) but, the tax is collected and retained entirely by the originating States. As for services, it is the Centre alone that is empowered to levy service tax. Since the States are not empowered to levy any tax on the sale or purchase of goods in the course of their importation into or exportation from India, the Centre levies and collects this tax as additional duties of customs, which is in addition to the Basic Customs Duty. This additional duty of customs (commonly known as CVD and SAD) counter balances excise duties, sales tax, State VAT and other taxes levied on the likedomestic product. Introduction of GST would require amendments in the
Constitution so as to concurrently empower the Centre and the States to levy and
collect the GST.
The assignment of concurrent jurisdiction to the Centre and the States for the levy of GST would require a unique institutional mechanism that would ensure that decisions about the structure, design and operation of GST are taken jointly by the two. For it to be effective, such a mechanism also needs to have Constitutional force.
Constitution (One Hundred and First) Amendment Act, 2016
To address all these and other issues, the Constitution (122ndAmendment) Bill was introduced in the 16th Lok Sabha on 19.12.2014. The Bill provides for a levy of GST on supply of all goods or services except for Alcohol for human consumption. The tax shall be levied as Dual GST separately but concurrently by the Union (central tax- CGST) and the States (including Union Territories with legislatures) (State tax -SGST) / Union territories without legislatures (Union territory tax – UTGST). The Parliament would have exclusive power to levy GST (integrated tax – IGST) on inter-State trade or commerce (including imports) in goods or services. The Central Government will have the power to levy excise duty in addition to the GST on tobacco and tobacco products. The tax on supply of five specified petroleum products namely crude, high speed diesel, petrol, ATF and natural gas would be levied from a later date on the recommendation of GST Council.
A Goods and Services Tax Council (GSTC) shall be constituted comprising the Union Finance Minister, the Minister of State (Revenue) and the State Finance Ministers to recommend on the GST rate, exemption and thresholds, taxes to be subsumed and other features. This mechanism would ensure some degree of harmonization on different aspects of GST between the Centre and the States as well as across States. One half of the total number of members of GSTC would form quorum in meetings of GSTC. Decision in GSTC would be taken by a majority of not less than three-fourth of weighted votes cast. Centre and minimum of 20 States would be required for majority because Centre would have one-third weightage of the total votes cast and all the States taken together would have two-third of weightage of the total votes cast.
The Constitution Amendment Bill was earlier passed by the Lok Sabha in May, 2015. The Bill was referred to the Select of Rajya Sabha on 12.05.2015. The Select Committee had submitted its Report on the Bill on 22.07.2015. The Bill with certain amendments was finally passed in the Rajya Sabha and there after by Lok Sabha in August, 2016. Further the bill had been ratified by required number of States and received assent of the President on 8th September, 2016 and has since been enacted as Constitution (101st Amendment) Act, 2016 w.e.f. 16th September, 2016
Goods and Services Tax Council (GSTC)
The GSTC has been notified with effect from 12th September, 2016. GSTC is being assisted by a Secretariat. Thirteen meetings of the GSTC have been held so far. The following decisions have been taken by the GSTC:
The threshold exemption limit would be Rs. 20lac. For special category Statesenumerated in article 279A of the Constitution, threshold exemption limit has been fixed at Rs. 10lac.
Composition threshold shall be Rs. 50 lac. Composition scheme shall not be available to inter-State suppliers, service providers (except restaurant service)and specified category of manufacturers.
Existing tax incentive schemes of Central or State governments may be continued by respective government by way of reimbursement through budgetary route. The schemes, in the present form, would not continue in GST.
There would be four tax rates namely 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%. Besides, some goods and services would be under the list of exempt items. Rate for precious metals is yet to be fixed. A cess over the peak rate of 28% on certain specified luxury and sin goods would be imposed for a period of five years to compensate States for any revenue loss on account of implementation of GST. The Council has asked the Committee of officers to fit various goods and services in these four slabs keeping in view the present incidence of tax.
The five laws namely CGST Law, UTGST Law, IGST Law, SGST Law and GST Compensation Law have been recommended.
In order to ensure single interface, all administrative control over 90% of taxpayers having turnover below Rs. 1.5 crore would vest with State tax administration and 10% with the Central tax administration. Further all administrative control over taxpayers having turnover above Rs. 1.5 crore shall be divided equally in the ratio of 50% each for the Central and State tax.

Nitin Jayram Gadkari (born 27 May 1957) is an Indian politician and the current Minister for Road Transport and Highways and Shipping. A visionary with great ideas and an innovative approach, an able administrator who believes in attaining results , an iconic leader for the party workers, a Leader of Opposition who keeps the government on its toes when in opposition; a performer par excellence as a Minister are the words that best bring about the personality of Nitin Gadkari.
Mr. Gadkari was born in a middle-class agricultural family in Maharashtra’s Nagpur city, which is also the headquarters of the RSS. Mr. Gadkari’s mother had a great influence on him and she inculcated in him the spirit of social work. He was also inspired in his early life by the RSS and its mission of nation building through selfless motivation to work for the welfare of all sections of the society.
The imposition of emergency by Indira Gandhi in June 1975 was the turning point in his life and he decided to dedicate his life to serve the country rather than practicing law. Mr. Gadkari has studied M.Com, LLB & Diploma in Business Management (DBM).
Mr. Gadkari entered politics as a student leader of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarathi Parishad (ABVP) and later joined the Janata Yuva Morcha, youth wing of the BJP. He does not consider himself to be a career politician but takes politics to be social service – initiating projects for the poor, for the society and the downtrodden.
Mr. Gadkari has been a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council since 1989. He was also the leader of the opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Council from 1999-2005. He headed the Maharashtra Pradesh BJP till 2009 as the State President when he was elevated to the post of the BJP National President to become the youngest ever party president.
He was a PWD minister in Maharashtra between 1995 & 1999, when he gained first experience to undertake infrastructure projects. “With Rs.5 crore equity, I earned the distinction of completing works worth 8,000 crores”; He often recalls this unique distinction he earned as the PWD minister. Mr. Gadkari managed to convince the state to allocate Rs. 700 Crores for rural connectivity. In the next 4 years, 98% of the total population of Maharashtra achieved all-weather road connectivity. The project aimed to connect 13,736 remote villages which remained unconnected since independence by road. It also helped to solve the malnutrition problems prevailing in remote areas of Vidarbha which previously had no access to medical aid, ration or educational facilities.
As Public Works minister in Maharashtra, he built the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. From that experience he was asked by the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to launch the National Highways Authority. The Vajpayee Government appointed him the Chairman of National Rural Road Development Committee. After a series of meetings and studies, Mr. Gadkari submitted his report to the central government and gave a presentation to the Prime Minister Vajpayee. His report was accepted and a new rural road connecting scheme now popularly known as Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana was launched.
Mr. Gadkari has a vision for a strong India and he earnestly believes that the 21st century politics is the politics of progress and development. His focus has always been on accomplishments. He gave Nagpur a new face when he was the District Guardian Minister. Building flyovers in Mumbai during his stint as Public Works Minister earned him the nick-name “Flyover- Man”. But Pride of place goes to his flagship project, the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.
Mr. Gadkari completed several prestigious assignments in record time. His two achievements stand out in particular. He pioneered the concept of Public-Private partnership (PPP) in infrastructure development. The BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) model has the basis of this concept. It is now implemented widely in India, thanks to this initiative large budgetary funds were made available for rural road development. The other is the up-gradation of norms for the construction industry. Completion of mega projects in a time bound frame, too, is his initiative. Establishment of a Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) was one of his innovative initiatives through which funds were raised from open market for infrastructure projects for the first time in India

Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary
Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Bhandara district in the northeastern corner of Maharashtra. The small reserve covering 152 sq. km. is an important corridor that links southern and central forested areas like the Tadoba-Andhari and Kanha Tiger Reserves. Nagzira is often referred to as the Green Oasis of Vidharba. Umred Karhandla Wildlife Sanctuary

Futala Lake
In western area of Nagpur, ancient Futala Lake exists for 200 years. In absence of maintenance, the use of this prehistoric lake was limited to cattle washing only. It was therefore decided in the year 2003 to beautify this lake from NIT fund with equal aid from State Government.In the second phase of beautification, road berms were cleaned and interlocking paving blocks were fixed on road Hanuman Temple to Futala Lake and surrounding triangular land in front of Temple. Sony has launched its flagship Bravia OLED A1 television series in India at a starting price of Rs 3,64,900. The new Sony Bravia OLED A1 television series comes with 4K display, High Dynamic Range (HDR) support and has a new image processor as well. The A1 series also comes with Acoustic Woofers, which Sony claims makes these the world’s first large screen television sets with powerful sound.
Sony has launched two variants of the A1 OLED series: KD-65A1, which is a 65-inch television set, while the KD-55A1 is 55-inch version. The KD-65A1 is priced at Rs 4,64,900, while the 55-inch version costs Rs 3,64,900.
Sony says the new television sets have over 8 million “self-illuminating, individually controlled OLED pixels,” which help offer a high quality visual experience along with supreme contrast, depth, texture details when viewing content on the TV. The 4K HDR OLED panel has a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, and the TVs come with a 4K HDR Processor X1 Extreme.
Th other highlight of the A1 series is the new Acoustic Surface Technology, and the television comes with an integrated subwoofer behind the TV. This ensures powerful sound in the TV set itself, claims Sony. The OLED TVs also comes with a new One Slate concept design from Sony, which incorporates all different functions inside the screen, and removes needs for other elements like speakers, a bezel, or a stand.
Dimensions of the Sony Bravia A1 65-inches are 1451 mm x 834 mm x 86 mm (7.8-inches in thickness) without stand, while with stand the dimensions are 1451 mm x 834 mm x 339 mm. Even though the laptop weighs under 3kgs, the ROG Zephyrus is powered by an Intel Core i7 Kaby Lake processor and Windows 10. Asus ROG Zephyrus is priced at Rs 2,99,999 in India. Samsung is believed to be hard at work on its next-generation wearable device, dubbed the Gear Fit2 Pro. While some reports have said the Gear Fit2 Pro will be a slightly more polished version of the Gear Fit2, other scattered reports suggest the wearable will be an all-new device. Ahead of the August 23 launch, reputable leakster Evan Blass via VentureBeat has revealed even more details about the upcoming wearable.
According to Blass, the Gear Fit2 Pro will be an enhanced version of the existing Gear Fit2, which was launched in June last year. Its design is similar to the Gear Fit2, and generally speaking, the new model should be seen as a ‘Pro’ version. Just like its predecessor, the Gear Fit2 Pro retains a curved AMOLED screen and is based on Tizen OS, although it will be compatible with Android and iOS devices.
The report says the new model will come packed with a built-in GPS – after all this wearable is being pitched as the ultimate fitness tracker. Moreover, the fitness tracker will also get offline Spotify music playback feature. This could be an important feature for some users. At the moment, Samsung Gear S3 is the only other wearable to offer this functionality.
Apple TV with 4K, HDR support in the works:
Apple is expected to launch a more advanced version of the Apple TV set top box that supports 4K content. A report from MacRumors suggests that iTunes could soon start offering movies in 4K and HDR, meaning a new model of the Apple TV is on the way.
In a discussion forum on the MacRumors forums (via Apple Insider), users have spotted that recent films like Passengers and Fantastic Beats and Where to Find Them had ‘4K’ and ‘HDR’ mentions in both rented and owned sections of the films. However, given that there is no 4K support on iTunes yet, it appears that Apple could add ultra high-definition support in the near future. This can be said because users were able to download movies in 720p or 1080p resolutions.
It’s safe to assume that Apple is planning to come with the new version of the Apple TV with ultra high-definition (4K) support. Earlier this year, in February, Bloomberg reported that Apple could launch the fifth-generation Apple TV as early as this year. Sony has launched its flagship Bravia OLED A1 television series in India at a starting price of Rs 3,64,900. The new Sony Bravia A1 series comes with 4K display, High Dynamic Range (HDR) support and has a new image processor as well. The A1 series also comes with Acoustic Woofers, which Sony claims makes these the world’s first large screen television sets with powerful sound.
Sony has launched two variants of the A1 OLED series: KD-65A1, which is a 65-inch television set, while the KD-55A1 is 55-inch version. The KD-65A1 is priced at Rs 4,64,900, while the 55-inch version costs Rs 3,64,900.
Sony says the new television sets have over 8 million “self-illuminating, individually controlled OLED pixels,” which help offer a high quality visual experience along with supreme contrast, depth, texture details when viewing content on the TV. The 4K HDR OLED panel has a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, and the TVs come with a 4K HDR Processor X1 Extreme.
Th other highlight of the A1 series is the new Acoustic Surface Technology, and the television comes with an integrated subwoofer behind the TV. This ensures powerful sound in the TV set itself, claims Sony. The OLED TVs also comes with a new One Slate concept design from Sony, which incorporates all different functions inside the screen, and removes needs for other elements like speakers, a bezel, or a stand.
Dimensions of the Sony Bravia A1 65-inches are 1451 mm x 834 mm x 86 mm (7.8-inches in thickness) without stand, while with stand the dimensions are 1451 mm x 834 mm x 339 mm. The 55-inch Sony A1’s dimensions without the stand are 1228 mm x 711 mm x 86 mm (7.8-inches), and with stand the dimensions are 1228 mm x 711 mm x 339 mm. The TV series comes with the stand, and it also includes the Voice Remote Control, an IR Blaster to control DTH with the BRAVIA remote as well.
Sony’s new television series also comes with support for HDR content, which means a better viewing experience on videos services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, which have some HDR content. Sony also claims this new television set has its own 4K HDR Processor X1 Extreme, which has 40 per cent more real-time image processing than the 4K Processor X1.
Sony A1 4K HDR OLED TVs run on the latest Android TV version 7.0 (Nougat) with Sony’s UI on top. The television set has Chromecast built-in, and users can stream their smartphone, tablet content on the A1 TVs itself. Instead, the complete environment — the seat, the sitter and the cartoon humanoid animals is mirrored on a screen opposite the bench, making it possible for others to watch the scene unfold.
How does the illusion work? A camera and sensor capture images and gather depth information about physical objects — the bench and the person — that algorithms integrate with the 3D animations, the researchers wrote in a study. Meanwhile, haptic sensors built into the bench deliver vibrations that are synchronized to animated actions on the screen, creating the illusion that the animated figures are occupying real-world space next to the user.
Augmented-reality overlays animated elements into views of the real world, typically by using special optical devices or mobile technology. However, one of its limitations is that its illusion can be glimpsed by only a single user. The Magic Bench allows groups of people to gather in a single environment and collectively participate in an augmented- reality experience, all at the same time, according to the study authors.
Sitting on the bench triggers the augmented-reality experience, introducing a character into the scene. In a video demonstration, a small cartoon donkey trots into view and kicks the bench, generating a sharp sound and making the seated person jump in surprise. Another test shows two people on the bench, reacting as they “feel” an animated rabbit leap up beside them and jump up and down. When a user passes his hand over the rabbit, a shadow moves across its head — as though it were occupying the same physical space as the person next to it.
Researchers used the real-color camera and the depth and color sensors in a Microsoft Kinect to capture the real-world scene of the Magic Bench and the person (or people) on it. Rebuilding them in 3D places the bench between a foreground and background, which can then be populated with whimsical characters. But the Disney engineers discovered that if the reconstructed 3D scene were viewed at an angle, missing data and a small difference in alignment between the camera and sensor created gaps in the image known as “depth shadows.”
To eliminate these depth shadows, designers layered another element into the scene — a 2D background captured by the Kinect’s RGB camera, which seamlessly aligned with the scene when viewed head-on, the study authors wrote. Once the “stage” is set, it’s ready to be shared with animated co-stars — from elephants offering up a glowing orb to a giraffe lending an umbrella during a sudden drizzle.
