Aarogya Setu Developers Allay Concerns After Ethical Hacker Points Out Flaws in Contact Tracing App

New Delhi: As the debate about the potential privacy issues around the Aarogya Setu app continues, the developers have shared a clarification on certain issues raised by an ethical hacker. On Twitter, French hacker Robert Baptiste, who tweets with pseudonym Elliot Alderson, posted that he had found a major security issue on the Aarogya Setu app.

In a tweet, Elliot Alderson says, “A security issue has been found in your app. The privacy of 90 million Indians is at stake. Can you contact me in private?” while tagging the official handle of the app. He then tweeted, “49 minutes after this tweet, @IndianCERT and @NICMeity contacted me. Issue has been disclosed to them.” Soon after, the Aarogya Setu developers also released a statement clarifying how the app works.

They say that the Aarogya Setu app is designed to collect a user’s location at certain points in the process—while the user is setting up the app and registering, at the time when the user is making a self-assessment, and also every time when a user either voluntarily shares their contact tracing data from within the app or in case a self-assessment indicates COVID-positive.

Aarogya Setu is a contact-tracing app developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and is being pushed by the Government of India, as the one-stop solution for contact tracing as the COVID lockdown continues in the country. It has been made mandatory for employees of all private companies, and government employees also have to install the app on their phones.

Alderson also pointed out that the “User can get the COVID-19 stats displayed on Home Screen by changing the radius and latitude-longitude using a script.” For this, the Aarogya Setu developers say that “the radius parameters are fixed and can only take one of the five values: 500 meters, 1km, 2km, 5km and 10km.” They say this does not compromise on any personal or sensitive data because the information is already public for all locations.

The Aarogya Setu developers also say that no personal information of any user has been proven to be at risk by this ethical hacker. In the meantime, Alderson has posted a tweet earlier this morning, which says, “Do you know what triangulation is @SetuAarogya?” We expect this to rumble on for a while now.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday recalled the teachings of Lord Buddha as he took part in virtual Buddha Purnima celebrations.

“Lord Buddha had said that the mind is supreme, and is the basis of Dhamma, that the mind is at the forefront of all the tendencies. That’s why, since our mids are connected, we don’t feel the lack of physical presence,” PM Modi said.

“It’s a pleasure to be amongst you, but the situation now is not conducive. That’s why, be it from afar and through the medium of technology, I got the opportunity to speak to you and I’m happy about that,” he added.

He also praised the organisers for holding this event at a time when the entire world is battling the coronavirus crisis. “I am confident that we will be able to bring humanity out of this crisis through concerted efforts like this,” the Prime Minister said in his keynote address.

Buddha Purnima celebrations are being held virtually due to Covid-19 pandemic. The event is being organised in the honour of the victims and the frontline warriors of Covid-19.

The Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC), a global Buddhist umbrella organisation, is holding a virtual prayer event with the participation of all the supreme heads of the Buddhist Sanghas from around the world, a statement from the government said.

Prayer ceremonies on the occasion will be streamed live from the Sacred Garden Lumbini (Nepal), Mahabodhi Temple (Bodhgaya, India); Mulgandha Kuti Vihara, Sarnath; Parinirvana Stupa, Kushinagar; Pirith Chanting from Ruwanweli Maha Seya in the sacred and historic Anuradhapura stupa premises, Sri Lanka; Boudhanath, Swayambhu, Namo Stupa, Nepal, apart from other popular Buddhist sites.

Coronavirus: नियम आणि शिस्तीचे पालन करून हे ९० गावं झाले करोनामुक्त

नागपूर : विदर्भात सर्वाधिक रूग्ण असलेल्या उपराजधानी नागपुरात दिवसभरात ४४ नवे कोरोनाबाधित रूग्ण वाढले आहे. नागपुरातील ४४ रूग्णाचे अहवाल पॉझिटिव्ह आल्याने रूग्णांचा आकडा १६१ वरून वरून २०० च्या पार पोहोचला आहे. त्या तुलनेत बुधवारी आलेल्या अहवालात दैनंदिन संशयित रूग्णांची संख्या कमी होऊन ३३ वर घसरल्याने नागपूरकरांना थोडा दिलासा मिळाला होता.

नव्याने आढळलेले अधिकांश रूग्ण हे सतरंजीपुरा या परिसरातील असल्याची माहिती सूत्रांनी दिली आहे. नागपुरातील सतरंजीपुरा या एकाच भागातून आतापर्यंत सुमारे ११० रूग्ण कोरोनाबाधित झाल्याने या परिसरातील १४०० नागरीकांचे सक्तीने संस्थात्मक विलगीकरण करण्यात आले आहे. तर उपचार सुरू असलेल्या पॉझीटिव्ह रूग्णांचे सलग तीन अहवाल निगेटिव्ह आल्याने आतापर्यत कोरोनामुक्त झालेल्या ६४ रूग्णांना रूग्णालयातून डिस्चार्ज देण्यात आला आहे.

शुक्रवारी दि. २४ एप्रिलला कोरोनाबाधित रूग्णाच्या संख्येने नागपुरात शंभरचा आकडा गाठला होता. त्यानंतर पुढील १२ दिवसात नागपुरात १०० हून अधिक नव्या कोरोनाबाधित रूग्णांची नोंद झाली आहे. मागील संपूर्ण महिनाभर नागपुरात दर दिवशी कोरोनाबाधित रूग्ण संख्येत सातत्याने वाढ होत आहे. एप्रिल महिन्याच्या सुरुवातीला शहरातील कोरोनाबाधितांचा रूग्णांची संख्या १६ एवढी होती. मात्र, आता कोरोनाबाधित रूग्णांची संख्या २०० हून अधिक झाली आहे.

नागपूर, ता. ६ : कोरोनाचा वाढता प्रादुर्भाव रोखण्यासाठी नागरिकांनी अधिक जास्त सतर्कता आणि सावधगिरी बाळगण्याची आवश्यकता आहे. नागपूरमध्ये नुकतेच एका युवकाचा मृत्यू झाला. त्याला शासकीय वैद्यकीय महाविद्यालय व रूग्णालयात (मेडिकल) आकस्मीक विभागात भरती करण्यात आले होते. त्याचा कोरोना ‘स्वॅब’ अहवाल पॉझिटिव्ह आला. विशेष म्हणजे, त्याच्या मृत्यूनंतर कोरोनाचा अहवाल आल्याने त्या युवकाच्या संपर्कात आलेले किंवा घरी जमलेल्या नागरिकांना कोरोनाची शक्यता नाकारता येत नाही. त्यामुळे नागरिकांनी कोणत्याही व्यक्तीच्या मृत्यूनंतर त्याचा कोरोना अहवाल येईपर्यंत प्रतीक्षा करावी. कुणीही मृत व्यक्तीच्या घरी किंवा अन्य ठिकाणी संपर्क साधू नये, असे आवाहन मनपा आयुक्त तुकाराम मुंढे यांनी केले आहे.

शहरातील पार्वतीनगर, रामेश्वरी परिसरातील एका युवकाचा दि.०५/०५/२०२० मंगळवारी मृत्यू झाला. बुधवारी (ता.६) शासकीय वैद्यकीय महाविद्यालय व रूग्णालयात (मेडिकल) मधून या मृत तरुणाचा कोरोना ‘स्वॅब’चा अहवाल प्राप्त झाला. त्यात तो कोरोना पॉझिटिव्ह असल्याचे निष्पन्न झाले. त्यामुळे युवकाच्या मृत्यूनंतर त्याच्या मृतदेहावर कोविड-१९ संदर्भात मनपातर्फे जारी करण्यात आलेल्या मार्गदर्शक तत्वानुसार अंत्यसंस्कार करण्यात आले. युवकाच्या मृत्यूनंतर घरी येणा-या नागरिकांनाही कोरोना संसर्गाचा धोका निर्माण होण्याची शक्यता नाकारता येत नाही.

कोरोनाग्रस्त मृतदेहापासून होणारा संसर्ग टाळणे अत्यंत आवश्यक बाब आहे. त्यासाठी कोणत्याही कारणाने मृत्यू झालेल्या व्यक्तीचा कोरोना अहवाल येईपर्यंत मृताशी संबंधित कोणत्याही प्रकारचा संपर्क टाळावा. अहवाल निगेटिव्ह आल्यास मृतदेहाच्या अंत्यविधीबाबत नियमांचे पालन करण्यात यावे. यासाठी अंत्यविधीला कमीत-कमी लोक उपस्थित राहणे, सोशल डिस्टंसिंगचे पालन करणे, मास्क लावणे, सॅनिटायजरचा वापर करणे आदी नियमांचे पालन केले जाणे आवश्यक आहे, असेही आवाहन आयुक्त तुकाराम मुंढे यांनी केले.

मृताचा कोरोना अहवाल पॉझिटिव्ह आल्यास कोरोनाग्रस्त मृतदेहाच्या विल्हेवाटीसंदर्भात मनपातर्फे जारी करण्यात आलेल्या मार्गदर्शक तत्वांनुसार त्या मृतदेहाची विल्हेवाट लावण्यात येईल. यासंबंधी यापूर्वीच मनपा आयुक्तांनी कोरोनाग्रस्त मृतदेहाच्या विल्हेवाटीसंदर्भात मार्गदर्शक तत्वांबाबत आदेश जारी केले आहेत. या मार्गदर्शक तत्वांनुसार मृतदेहाला कुणीही स्पर्श करू नये. मृतदेहावर अंत्यविधी करताना पाच पेक्षा अधिक लोकांनी उपस्थित राहू नये. वरील दोन्ही नियमांचे काटेकोर पालन व्हावे याकरिता संबंधित रुग्णालय प्रशासनाने मृत्यूची माहिती आधी संबंधित पोलिस स्टेशनला द्यावी. अंत्यविधी करण्यात येणारे घाट किंवा स्मशानभूमीतील कर्मचा-यांनी मास्क, ग्लोव्ह आणि अन्य सुरक्षा साहित्यांचा वापर करणे अत्यावश्यक आहे.

शहरातील कोरोनाचा संसर्ग रोखण्यासाठी स्वयंसुरक्षेची काळजी घेणे आवश्यक आहे. मृतदेहाच्या विल्हेवाटी संदर्भात वरील मार्गदर्शक तत्त्वांचे पालन होणे गरजेचे आहे. याबाबत काटेकोर कार्यवाही करिता आयुक्तांतर्फे सर्व झोनचे सहाययक आयुक्त, मनपा आरोग्य विभाग तसेच इंदिरा गांधी शासकीय वैद्यकीय महाविद्यालय व रुग्णालय (मेयो) आणि शासकीय वैद्यकीय महाविद्यालय व रुग्णालय (मेडिकल) प्रशासनाला आदेश देण्यात आले आहेत.

Coronavirus pandemic: Sonu Sood says his heart bleeds seeing migrant workers struggling to reach their home

Mumbai: The coronavirus lockdown has affected the lives of migrant workers, who are struggling to reach their homes. Journalist Barkha Dutt shared a clip on her Twitter account, where she is talking to a migrant worker, who has been turned down away from the border for three consecutive days in attempt to get her children and her home. Sonu Sood quoted replied to that tweet and wrote, “My heart bleeds seeing them. All I can say is we failed as humans Broken heart just imagine ourselves in that situation.. with little children whom we wanna give all the comforts in the world. Just pray that every single migrant may reach their respective home.”

In the global crisis of coronavirus, Sonu Sood is contributing his bit to help the people in tackling this situation. The actor recently offered his Mumbai hotel as a lodging facility for health workers and is providing meals to the needy families.

Talking about his contribution in this noble initiative, Sonu Sood said, “It takes us 3-4 hours to co-ordinate everything in the morning. We are sending ration kits, food to many people in different parts of Mumbai. The food comes in, we pack it, people come in to take it. Sometimes when the food does not reach people, we line up people for it and start preparing for the next day. So, those people who are getting bored in the quarantine, you can definitely take out some time for others. I tell my friends as well that you should cook an extra meal for a person or a family in your kitchen. If this happens, I don’t think anyone will have to sleep on an empty stomach.”

परराज्यात जाणा-या रेल्वे प्रवाशांच्या भोजनाची मनपातर्फे व्यवस्था

नागपूर, ता. ६ : लॉकडाउनमध्ये अडकलेल्या परराज्यातील नागरिकांना घरी पोहोचविण्यासाठी केंद्र शासनातर्फे विशेष रेल्वेगाड्यांची व्यवस्था करण्यात आली आहे. त्याद्वारे मागील ४५ दिवसांपासून देशातील विविध भागात अडकलेले लोक स्वगृही पोहोचत आहे. नागपूर रेल्वेस्थानकावरून जाणा-या अशा परराज्यातील नागरिकांच्या रेल्वेगाड्यांमध्ये नागरिकांची गैरसोय होउ नये, यासाठी मनपातर्फे त्यांच्या भोजनाची व्यवस्था करण्यात येत आहे. बुधवारी (ता.६) नागपूरवरून बिहार मुजफ्फरपूरकडे निघालेल्या रेल्वेतील सुमारे एक हजारावर प्रवाशांना मनपातर्फे भोजन व्यवस्था करण्यात आली आहे.

शहरातील बेघर, निराधांनासह गरजूंची मनपातर्फे भोजन व्यवस्था करण्यात येत आहे. मात्र अनेक तासांचा प्रवास करून घरी परत जाणा-या रेल्वे प्रवाशांचीही जेवणाची व्यवस्था व्हावी यासाठी मनपा आयुक्त तुकाराम मुंढे यांच्या पुढाकाराने प्रभारी उपायुक्त मिलींद मेश्राम यांच्या नेतृत्वात कार्य करण्यात येत आहे. मनपा आयुक्तांच्या पुढाकाराने परराज्यातील नागरिकांना स्वगृही पोहोचविणा-या नागपूर रेल्वेस्थानकावरून जाणा-या प्रत्येकच रेल्वेगाडीमधील प्रवाशांची मनपाच्या माध्यमातून भोजन व्यवस्था करण्यात येत आहे. या कार्यासाठीही शहरातील अनेक स्वयंसेवी संस्था आणि सेवाभावी नागरिकांची साथ मिळाली आहे. शहरातील मैत्री परिवार, लॉयन्स क्लब, मॉ फाउंडेशन, राजमुद्रा फाउंडेशन, दिलीप चिंचमलातपुरे या सर्वांच्या सहकार्याने मनपाद्वारे एक हजारावर प्रवाशांना पुरी भाजी, केळी, पाण्याची बॉटल, ग्लुकोज बिस्कीट, लोणचे आदी सर्व वितरीत करण्यात येत आहे.

लॉकडाउनमध्ये शहरात कुणीही उपाशी राहू नये यासाठी आयुक्त तुकाराम मुंढे यांच्या पुढाकाराने दररोज ५० हजारावर जेवणाचे पॅकेट्स गरजूंपर्यंत पोहोचविण्यात येतात. शहरातीलच नव्हे तर आपल्या शहरातून जाणारी कोणतिही व्यक्ती उपाशी राहू नये यासाठीही मनपा कार्य करीत आहे. त्याच संकल्पनेतून परप्रांतीय नागरिकांच्या जेवणाची व्यवस्था केली जात आहे. शहरातील रेल्वे स्थानकावरून दररोज ४ ते ५ रेल्वेगाड्या जातात या सर्व गाड्यांमधील प्रवाशांपर्यंत स्वयंसेवी संस्था आणि सेवाभावी नागरिकांच्या मदतीने मनपा जेवण पोहोचविण्याचे कार्य करीत आहे.

प्रत्येकाने आपल्या घरी सुखरूप पोहोचावे, त्यांची कोणत्याही प्रकारे गैरसोय होउ नये याची काळजीही घेतली जात आहे. बुधवारी (ता.६) शहरात अडकलेल्या उस्मानाबाद येथील ३९ नागरिकांनाही रेल्वेने त्यांच्या स्वगृही बिहारला पोहोचविण्याची व्यवस्था मनपा आणि जिल्हाधिकारी कार्यालयाच्यावतीने करण्यात आली. यासंबंधी उस्मानाबाद जिल्हाधिकारी कार्यालयाच्यावतीने मनपाशी संपर्क साधण्यात आला होता व तेथील प्रवाशांना स्वगृही पाठविण्याची विनंती करण्यात आली होती. बुधवारी रामटेक, कळमेश्वर, नरखेड, काटोल, उमरेड, सावनेर, नागपूर ग्रामीण, कुही, मौदा, हिंगणा, भिवापूर, कामठी, नागपूर शहरातील बेघर निवारा केंद्र आणि उस्मानाबाद येथील सुमारे एक हजार नागरिक मनपाच्या प्रयत्नामुळे स्वगृही पोहोचणार आहेत.

नागपूर : कोरोनाच्या पार्श्वभूमीवर लॉकडाउनमुळे शहरात अडकलेल्या लोकांना स्वगृही परतण्यासाठी स्थानिक स्तरावर प्रयत्न सुरू आहेत. शहरात अडकलेले मजूर, विद्यार्थी व अन्य प्रवाशांना स्वगृही परत जाण्यासाठी त्यांना वैद्यकीय प्रमाणपत्र अत्यावश्यक आहे. वैद्यकीय प्रमाणपत्राविना कुणालाही शहराबाहेर पडता येणार नाही. त्यामुळे परराज्यातील किंवा नागपूर बाहेरील लोकांना वैद्यकीय प्रमाणपत्र उपलब्ध करून देण्यासाठी नागपूर महानगरपालिकेतर्फे दहाही झोनमध्ये व्यवस्था करण्यात आली आहे.

वैद्यकीय प्रमाणपत्रासाठी होणारी गर्दी लक्षात घेता मनपातर्फे टोकन प्रणाली सुरू करण्यात आली असून टोकन घेतल्यानंतर दुस-या दिवशी संबंधितांना वैद्यकीय प्रमाणपत्र देण्यात येत आहे. याशिवाय व्यवस्था करण्यात आलेल्या मनपाच्या आरोग्य केंद्रांमध्ये पोलिस बंदोबस्तही आहे. वैद्यकीय प्रमाणपत्र देण्यापूर्वी संबंधित व्यक्तीची मनपाच्या वैद्यकीय चमूमार्फत आरोग्य तपासणी केली जाते. थर्मल गनच्या माध्यमातून व्यक्तीचे तापमान मोजले जाते. स्वगृही परतल्यानंतर संबंधित व्यक्तीला १४ दिवस ‘होम क्वारंटाईन’ राहणे बंधनकारक आहे. शहराबाहेर जाणा-या व शहरात येणा-या प्रत्येक व्यक्तीचा संपूर्ण तपशील मनपाद्वारे घेण्यात येत आहे, अशी माहिती मनपाच्या आरोग्य उपसंचा अतिरिक्त आरोग्य वैद्यकीय अधिकारी डॉ.भावना सोनकुसळे यांनी दिली.

नागपूर : कोविड-१९चा संसर्ग रोखण्यासाठी व वेळेत उपचार मिळावे यासाठी मनपातर्फे ‘हाय रिस्क कॉन्टॅक्ट’मधील कोरोनाग्रस्तांचा शोध घेण्यात येतो व त्यांना मनपाच्या विलगीकरण कक्षामध्ये ठेवले जाते. शहरामध्ये आमदार निवास, वनामती, रवीभवन, सिम्बॉयसिस, व्‍हीएनआयटी वसतीगृह, पाचपावली पोलिस क्वॉर्टर, प्रोझोन चिचभवन आदी ठिकाणी सुमारे २५०० लोकांना विलगीकरण करण्यात आले आहे. मनपा आयुक्त तुकाराम मुंढे यांच्या पुढाकाराने विलगीकरणातील या नागरिकांच्या सुविधेसाठी मनपातर्फे सेवाकार्य सुरू आहे. या सर्व नागरिकांच्या आरोग्यासह त्यांची भोजन, निवास व्यवस्था व सुरक्षा या सर्वांबाबत मनपाद्वारे आस्थेने काळजी घेण्यात येत आहे.

शहरातील विविध विलगीकरण कक्षांपैकी सिम्बॉयसिस, व्‍हीएनआयटी वसतीगृह, पाचपावली पोलिस क्वॉर्टर या तीन ठिकाणी सुमारे १५०० जणांना ‘क्वारंटाईन’ करण्यात आले आहे. या सर्व ठिकाणी विलगीकरण करून ठेवलेल्या नागरिकांच्या आरोग्य तपासणीसह त्यांना दोन वेळचे भाजी, पोळी, वरण, भात असे जेवण, चहा, नाश्ता ही सर्व व्यवस्था मनपातर्फे करण्यात येत आहे.

वाठोडा येथील सिम्बॉयसिसमध्ये ४५० जणांच्या विलगीकरणाची व्यवस्था करण्यात आली आहे. या ठिकाणी मनपाची वैद्यकीय चमू आणि इतर टिम सेवा देत आहेत. ‘क्वारंटाईन’ करण्यात आलेल्या नागरिकांमध्ये बहुतांशी मुस्लीम बांधव असून त्यांच्यासाठी रमजानच्या पर्वावर दररोज शहरी आणि इफ्तारीचे स्वयंसेवी संस्थांच्या माध्यमातून आयोजन करण्यात येत आहे. या ठिकाणी मनपातर्फे भोजन व्यवस्था करण्यात येत आहे शिवाय नागरिकांसाठी बेड, चादर, उशी, पांघरून ही सर्व व्यवस्थाही मनपाने करून दिली आहे.

पाचपावली क्षेत्रामध्ये पोलिस क्वॉर्टरमध्ये सुमारे ५५० जणांना ‘क्वारंटाईन’ करण्यात आले आहे. पोलिस क्वॉर्टरमध्ये एकूण ७ विंग असून यातील प्रत्येक विंगमध्ये २७ फ्लॅट आहेत. यापैकी एक विंग वैद्यकीय चमूसाठी निर्धारित करण्यात आली आहे. या विंगमध्ये डॉक्टर, पॅरामेडिकल स्टॉफ, परिचारीका यांची निवास व्यवस्था करण्यात आली आहे. इतर विंगमध्ये निवासाला असणा-या नागरिकांना मनपातर्फे टॉवेल, बकेट, ग्लास, टूथब्रश, टूथपेस्ट, सॅनिटायजर, पाण्याची कॅन, लहान मुलांसाठी दुध या सर्व गोष्टींचा पुरवठा करण्यात येत आहे.

तर व्‍हीएनआयटीच्या चार वसतीगृहामध्ये सुमारे ६०० संशयीतांना विलगीकरणात ठेवण्यात आले आहे. या ठिकाणीही सर्व रहिवाशांना दोन वेळचे जेवण, नाश्ता, चहा तसेच आवश्यक वस्तुंचा पुरवठा करण्यात येत आहे. सर्व विलगीकरण कक्षातील नागरिकांवर वैद्यकीय पथकाद्वारे उपचार करण्यात येत असून त्यांचे कोरोना ‘स्वॅब’ घेण्यात येते. ‘स्वॅब’चा अहवाल पॉझिटिव्ह आल्यास संबंधित व्यक्तीवर इंदिरा गांधी शासकीय वैद्यकीय महाविद्यालय व रुग्णालय (मेयो) किंवा शासकीय वैद्यकीय महाविद्यालय व रुग्णालय (मेडिकल) येथे तज्ज्ञ डॉक्टरांच्या देखरेखीत उपचार केले जाते. तर अहवाल निगेटिव्ह आल्यास पुन्हा १४व्या दिवशी ‘स्वॅब’ घेण्यात येतो. तो अहवाल सुद्धा निगेटिव्ह आल्यास रुग्णाला सुट्टी देण्यात येते.

या कार्यासाठी मनपाच्या अधिका-यांसह सार्वजनिक बांधकाम विभाग व महसूल अधिका-यांचे पथक अहोरात्र कार्य करीत असून विलगीकरणातील नागरिकांची कोणत्याही प्रकारे गैरसोय होउ नये यासाठी विशेष काळजी घेतली जात आहे.

Team of 1985 can give current India side a run for their money: Ravi Shastri recalls his playing days

India 2020: Former cricketer Ravi Shastri believes the team which secured the Benson and Hedges World Championship in 1985 can give the current batch led by Virat Kohli “a run for their money”.

During a Facebook live chat with Rajdeep Sardesai, the India coach said, “Yeah, no question about that. Take any team that India puts up in white-ball cricket, the best of what it has to put out, the team of ’85 will give that team a run for their money.”

Hailing the team that helped India lift their maiden World Cup, Shastri said, “Many people thought it (the 1983 World Cup win) was a one-off. But the boys were excellent in 1985, with Sunny (Sunil Gavaskar) leading from the front.”

Asked about the most cherished moment from that tournament, Shastri stated the victory against Pakistan in the summit clash was his “favourite memory”. The world still remembers the epic rivalry between Shastri and Javed Miandad. He had then won an Audi 100 sedan after being awarded as the man of the series.

Talking about the on-field rivalry between the two, Shastri said, “Javed had no chance of getting the Audi. He would try to get under your skin on the field.”

The 57-year-old considered New Zealand as the strongest competitor after Pakistan in that particular tournament. “New Zealand were a fantastic team. They might not have the superstars but they are always a team known for punching much above their weights. We had to play our A game in the semifinals to beat them.”

The former commentator, who is stuck at his farmhouse in Alibaug due to the nationwide lockdown stated he would have loved to have Laxman Sivaramakrishnan and Roger Binny as his quarantine roommates. “We can get some beer. I’m sure Siva and Roger would join in.”

WhatsApp users can now fact-check COVID-19 messages – Here’s how

New Delhi: With hordes of fake messages doing the rounds in social media and messaging apps, it becomes very difficult to judge. This has become more difficult in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, where the user is sometimes not aware that the forward is actually a fake news.

To handle such cases, instant messaging app WhatsApp has collaborated with Poynter Institute’s International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) so that users can check misinformations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

By using the IFCN’s bot on WhatsApp, citizens from all over the world will be able to easily check whether a piece of content about COVID-19 has already been rated as false by professional fact-checkers, a statement said.

The chatbot has short and numerical menu. Users will only need to text numbers to navigate it.

Initially, the IFCN’s bot – which is free to use – will be available only in English, but other languages, including Hindi, Spanish and Portuguese, will follow soon, it added.

Since January, more than 80 fact-checking organisations from 74 countries have identified more than 4,000 hoaxes related to novel coronavirus. The information has been compiled in the CoronaVirusFacts database and is updated daily by IFCN, so that chatbot users can navigate and easily access its content.

The IFCN’s chatbot also provides users with a global directory of fact-checking organizations.

“The system is capable of identifying the user’s country via the mobile country code and then sharing the nearest fact-checking organizations. Anyone can submit information for review directly to local fact-checkers or visit their website to learn more about misinformation circulating in the region.” IFCN said.

83 Shramik special trains operational since May 1, over 80,000 migrants ferried: Indian Railways

New Delhi: The Indian Railways on Wednesday said it has run 83 Shramik Special trains so far since May 1 and ferried more than 80,000 stranded people.

Till Tuesday evening, the national transporter had run 76 trains for the migrant workers who were stranded at their workplaces due to the coronavirus lockdown and wishing to go back to their homes.

Each special train has 24 coaches, each with a capacity of 72 seats. But the national transporter is allowing only 54 persons in a coach to maintain the social distancing norms by not allotting the middle berth to any passenger.

The Karnataka government on Tuesday had cancelled 10 trains from the state which were planned over the next five days. However, it said three trains would depart from Bengaluru for Bihar as planned.

While the Railways has officially not stated how much it has spent so far on these services, which the government says has been shared on an 85:15 ratio with the states, officials indicated that the national transporter spent around Rs 80 lakh per service.
As on Tuesday morning, Gujarat was the originating station for around 35 of these trains, followed by Kerala with 13.

Among the receiving states, Bihar has accepted 13 trains, with 11 more currently on the journey and six in the pipeline, the data showed

Neighbouring Uttar Pradesh has received 10 such trains and five more are on their way and 12 in the pipeline, as per the data.

The West Bengal government has, however, given clearance to only two trains — one each from Rajasthan and Kerala — and they are on their journeys to the state.

Jharkhand has accepted four trains, while five are on their way to the state. Two more Shramik Special trains are in the pipeline.

Odisha has received seven trains and five are on their way to the state, with one more in the pipeline, the data shows.

Earlier, the railways drew flak from opposition parties for making these services chargeable. In its guidelines, the railways has said the trains will run only if they have 90 per cent occupancy and the “states should collect the ticket fare”.

नागपुर : कोरोना संसर्गाच्या बाबतीत ग्रीन झोनमध्ये असलेला विदर्भातील वर्धा जिल्हा हा भविष्यातही ग्रीन झोन म्हणूनच अबाधित राहावा या करीता वर्धा जिल्हा प्रशासनाने सुरक्षा उपाययोजनांचा मास्टर प्लॅन तयार केला आहे. वर्धा जिल्ह्याचा हा मास्टर प्लॅन राज्यातील इतर जिल्ह्यांकरीता रोल मॉडेल ठरू शकतो. जिल्ह्यातील विविध भागात असलेली आवश्यक आणि अनावश्‍यक वस्तूंची दुकाने आणि त्यांची मानवी जीवनातील गरज लक्षात घेऊन दुकाने उघडण्यासंदर्भातील हा मास्टर प्लान आहे. राज्यातील रेड झोन आणि ऑरेंज झोन मधील जिल्ह्याकरिता सुध्दा हा मास्टर प्लॅन आदर्श ठरू शकेल.

वर्धा जिल्ह्यात कोरोनाचा एकही रूग्ण नाही. आतापर्यत पाठविलेले सर्व संशयितांचे अहवाल निगेटिव्ह आल्याने वर्धा जिल्हा हा ग्रीन झोनमध्ये आहे. यामुळे वर्धा जिल्ह्यातील दुकाने उघडण्यासंदर्भात संदर्भात जिल्हाधिकारी विवेक भीमनवार यांनी आदेश काढले आहेत, मात्र शहरातील कायदा व सुव्यवस्था अबाधित राहावी तसेच शहरात गर्दी होऊ नये यासाठी खबरदारी म्हणून वर्धा शहरातील सर्व दुकानं वेगवेगळ्या दिवसाला उघडण्याचे आदेश उपविभागीय अधिकारी सुरेश बगळे यांनी दिले आहेत.

शहरातील गर्दीच्या ठिकाणांमध्ये, बजाज चौक ते शिवाजी चौक परिसर, दुर्गा टॉकीज गल्ली, झेंडा चौक ते न्यू इंग्लिश परिसर( अंबिका चौक ते गोल बाजार परिसर), महादेवपूरा परिसर, शास्त्री चौक ते आर्वी नका चौक (बॅचलर रोड दोन्ही बाजू), बजाज चौक ते पोस्ट ऑफिस ( इतवारा परिसर दोन्ही बाजू), याचा समावेश करण्यात आला आहे.

दुकानांचे वर्गीकरण

शहरातील दुकानाचे वर्गीकरण करण्यात आले असून संचारबंदीचा विचार करता सर्व दुकाने सकाळी ७ ते दुपारी २ वाजेपर्यंत सुरू ठेवता येणार आहेत. यात किराणा, सराफ, ऑप्टिकल, हार्डवेअर, पेंट, टाईल्स, फर्निचर, फोटो फ्रेमिंग, ड्रायक्लिनर, सिमेंट, लोहा, टेलरिंग, कुशन वर्क्स ही दुकाने गुरुवार ते रविवार सुरू राहतील.

ब वर्गातील मोबाईल दुकान, इलेक्ट्रॉनिक, इलेक्ट्रिकल, स्टेशनरी, गिफ़्ट, जनरल स्टोअर, कापड दुकाने, भांड्याची दुकान, चप्पल-शूज, ऑटोमोबाईल गॅरेज, व स्पेअर पार्ट, प्रिंटिंग, वेल्डिंग, ई- सेवा केंद्र सोमवार ते बुधवार तर क वर्गातील चिकन, मटण, बेकरी, पेट्रोल पम्प, कृषी व कृषीशी निगडित व्यवसाय, भाजी, फळविक्री नगरपालिकेने निश्चित केलेल्या ठिकाणीच दररोज सुरू ठेवता येतील.

हॉटेल, रेस्टॉरंट, खानावळ, आईस्क्रीम पार्लर केवळ घरपोच सेवा व काउंटर सेवा सकाळी ७ ते रात्री ९ पर्यन्त सुरू ठेवता येतील. दूध वितरण व घरपोच सेवा सकाळी ७ ते दुपारी २ व संध्याकाळी ५ ते रात्री ८पर्यंत तर औषध दुकाने व हॉस्पिटल सेवा रोज २४ तास सुरू ठेवता येतील.

पान टपरी हात गाडी दुकाने बंद

पान टपरी, चहा दुकान, हात गाडीवरील व्यवसाय बंद ठेवण्यात येणार आहे. आदेशाचे उल्लंघन करणाऱ्या विरुद्ध कायदेशीर कारवाई करण्यात येणार असल्याचे उपविभागीय अधिकारी बगळे यांनी सांगितले.

नागपूर : कोरोनाशी लढा देणारे मनपाचे डॉक्टर्स, परिचारीका, आशा वर्कर आणि अन्य कोरोना योद्ध्यांच्या सुरक्षेसाठी मदतीचे हात पुढे आले आहेत. एमआयडीसी हिंगणा येथील महिंद्रा अँड महिंद्रा कंपनीतर्फे मंगळवारी (ता.५) नागपूर महानगरपालिकेला पाच हजार ‘फेस शिल्ड’ प्रदान करण्यात आले. महिंद्रा अँड महिंद्रा कंपनीचे उत्पादन प्रमुख सचिन तारे यांनी मनपा आयुक्त तुकाराम मुंढे यांच्याकडे सर्व ‘फेस शिल्ड’ सूपुर्द केले.

कोरोनाचा संसर्ग रोखण्यासाठी सर्वच लढा देत आहेत. सर्वसामान्य नागरिक घरी राहून, सोशल डिस्टंसिंगचे पालन करून, मास्क लावून या लढ्यात सहभागी आहेत. तर काही योद्धे स्वत: मैदानात उतरून जीवाची पर्वा न करता कोरोना हरविण्यासाठी अहोरात्र काम करीत आहे. मनपाच्या आरोग्य विभागाची चमू ही सुद्धा कोरोनाविरोधात मैदानात उतरली आहे. मनपाच्या आरोग्य विभागाचे डॉक्टर्स, परिचारीका, आशा वर्क, आरोग्य कर्मचारी दिवसरात्र कोरोना विरोधात कार्य करीत आहेत. त्यांच्या सुरक्षेच्या दृष्टीने सामाजिक बांधिलकी उपक्रमांतर्गत महिंद्रा अँड महिंद्रा कंपनीद्वारे ‘फेस शिल्ड’ तयार करण्यात आले व आरोग्य कर्मचा-यांच्या सुरक्षेकरीता मनपाला प्रदान करण्यात आले.

मनपाच्या सहकार्याने सुटला मोकाट प्राण्यांच्या अन्नाचा प्रश्न

नागपूर: लॉकडाउनमुळे गरीब, बेघर, गरजू, कामगार या सर्वांचेच हाल होत आहेत. या सर्वांची काळजी घेत मनपाने बेघर निवारा केंद्रामध्ये अशा व्यक्तींची व्यवस्था केली. मात्र जे आपली स्थिती सांगूही शकत नाही कुणाकडे जाउही शकत नाही अशा मुक्या जीवांसाठीही मनपानेच पुढाकार घेतला आहे. मनपाच्या कार्याला शहरातील अनेक सेवाभावी नागरिकांनीही सहकार्य दर्शविले आहे. मनपा आयुक्त तुकाराम मुंढे यांच्या मार्गदर्शनात सुरू करण्यात आलेल्या या उपक्रमाद्वारे दररोज शहरातील हजारो मोकाट प्राण्यांच्या अन्नाचा प्रश्न सुटला आहे.

लॉकडाउनमुळे सर्वसामान्य नागरिकांना अनेक त्रास सहन करावे लागत आहेत. अशात रस्त्यावर राहणारे प्राणी ज्यांचे जीवन हॉटेल मधून, घराघरांतून मिळणारे अन्नावर अवलंबून आहे. त्यांचीही मोठी वाताहत होत आहे. ही बाब लक्षात घेता मनपाद्वारे या प्राण्यांच्या अन्नासाठी विशेष मोहीम राबविण्यात येत आहे. मनपा आयुक्त तुकाराम मुंढे यांच्या मार्गदर्शनात पशु वैद्यकीय अधिकारी डॉ.गजेंद्र महल्ले यांच्या नेतृत्वात मनपाची टीम शहरातील विविध भागातील प्राण्यांना अन्न पुरविण्याच्या कार्यात सहकार्य करीत आहे. मनपाच्या या कार्याला शहरातील अनेक पशुप्रेमी तसेच सेवाभावी नागरिकांनीही सहकार्याने दर्शविले आहे. या सर्वांच्या सहकार्याने आज मनपाच्या माध्यमातून हजारो प्राण्यांना अन्न पुरविले जात आहे.

या सेवा कार्यासाठी मनपाचे दोन वाहन तसेच काही कर्मचारीही निस्वार्थ भावनेने कार्य करणा-या सेवाभावी नागरिकांच्या सहकार्यासाठी दिले आहेत. शहरातील अनेक भागात मोकाट प्राण्यांचा शोध घेउन त्यांना ताजे अन्न पुरविण्याचे कार्य अविरत सुरू आहे. यासाठी पाचपावली येथील गुरूनानक गुरूद्वारामधून जसमीतसिंग भाटीया आणि कर्नलजीतसिंग यांच्याद्वारे पोळ्या तयार करून देण्यात येतात. सुधा अग्रवाल यांच्याकडून या कार्यासाठी दोन हजार किलो गव्हाचे पीठ देण्यात आले आहे. तसेच किरीट जोशी यांच्या मार्फत दररोज १०० किलो गव्‍हाचे पीठ उपलब्ध करून दिले जाते.

घाटे रेस्टॉरेंटचे मालक विनोद घाटे यांनीही या कार्याला सहकार्य दर्शविले आहे. घाटे रेस्टॉरेंटमधून दररोज एक हजार पोळ्या आणि २५ लीटर दुध प्राण्यांसाठी दिले जात आहे. तर करिष्मा गलानी यांचे या कार्यामध्ये मोठे योगदान आहे. त्यांच्यामार्फत संपूर्ण शहरात ज्या ठिकाणी पशुप्रेमी किंवा नागरिकांद्वारे मोकाट प्राण्यांना अन्न पोहोचत नाही अशा विविध ठिकाणी मोकाट प्राण्यांना अन्न पोहोचविण्याचे कार्य त्या करीत आहेत. याशिवाय हिंगणा मार्ग, अंबाझरी आणि हिलटॉप परिसरात अंजली वैद्यार, छत्रपती चौक ते विमानतळ परिसर आणि नरेंद्रनगर परिसरात रीना त्यागी आणि अर्पणा मोडक, हजारीपहाड, दाभा, फुटाळा, अमरावती मार्ग परिसरात स्मिता मिरे, म्हाळगी नगर, मानेवाडा, बेसा, हुडकेश्वर परिसरात स्वप्नील बोधाने, नंदनवन, वाठोडा, मोठा ताजबाग, के.डी.के. कॉलेज परिसरामध्ये निकीता बोबडे, मानकापूर ते कोरोडी मंदिर परिसरामध्ये आशिष कोहळे, जरीपटका, सदर, पागलखाना, गिट्टीखदान परिसरात चार्ल्स लिओनॉर्ड, गोळीबार चौक, सतरंजीपुरा, शांतीनगर या परिसरामध्ये राम नंदनवार, गणेशपेठ नूतन रेवतकर, झिंगाबाई टाकळी, गोधनीमध्ये सौंदर्या रामटेके, गोपालनगर, प्रतापनगर परिसरात जया वानखेडे, मेडीकल चौक परिसरामध्ये एकांश ढोबळे असे अनेक सेवाभाजी नागरिक स्वत: अन्न तयार करून आपापल्या परिसरात प्राण्यांना देत आहेत. मनपाद्वारे अशा ९० सेवाभावी लोकांना मनपा प्रशासनाकडून परवानगी पास उपलब्ध करून देण्यात आली आहे.

चहाटपरी चालविणा-या महिलेकडून प्राण्यांना रोज २० किलो पीठाच्या पोळ्या

मुक्या जीवांच्या पोटाची भूक भागविण्यासाठी शहरातील अनेक सेवाभावी नागरिक पुढे आले आहेत. पशुप्रेम आणि माणुसकीच्या भावनेतून अन्नदानासाठी या सेवाभावी हातांनी मनपाच्या कार्याला सहकार्य दर्शविले आहे. मात्र ज्यांना पोटाच्या भूकेची जाणीव आहे, जे रोज कमविल्याशिवाय अन्नाचे दोन घास खाउ शकत नाही. अशांनीही या मुक्या जीवांची भूक शमविण्यासाठी सेवा कार्य हाती घेतले आहे. यापैकीच एक म्हणजे काटोल रोड परिसरात राहणा-या गीता देवत. कुटुंबाच्या उदरनिर्वाहासाठी गीता देवत ह्या चहा टपरी चालवितात. आज लॉकडाउनमुळे सारे काही बंद आहे. त्यामुळे छोट्याशा रोजगारातून होणारी त्यांची मिळकतही बंद आहे. त्या दररोज निस्वार्थपणे मोकाट प्राण्यांना पोळ्या देण्याचे कार्य करीत आहे. या कार्यासाठी सुरूवातीला पोलिसांकडून अडविण्यात आले. मात्र त्यांचे कार्य पाहता आज आशिष दुबे हे पोलिस कर्मचारीही त्यांना साथ देत स्वत:च्या दुचाकीवरून त्यांना अन्न पोहोचविण्यासाठी नेउन देतात. आजघडीला गीता देवत ह्या रोज २० किलो गव्हाच्या पीठाच्या पोळ्या स्वत: तयार करून स्वत:च त्या प्राण्यांना नेउन खाउ घालण्याचे कार्य करीत आहेत.

Aarogya Setu app mandatory: Massive showdown erupts; Congress calls it ‘surveillance system’, Centre defends

New Delhi: As the Centre has made it mandatory to download the contact tracing application ‘Aarogya Setu’ for all those stepping out or going to work, a massive furore has erupted.

The Centre had last week dismissed the charges that the app was being used by the government to gather citizens’ data. However, that has not deterred the opposition leaders from posing questions.

About Aarogya Setu

Aarogya Setu is a government app for tracking coronavirus patients. It is now compulsory for government and private sector employees to download Aarogya Setu mobile application to strengthen the efforts to battle COVID-19 pandemic.

The app helps users identify whether they are at risk of COVID-19 infection. It also furnishes significant information to people, including ways to prevent COVID-19 infection.

The organisational heads have been ordered to ensure its 100 per cent coverage.

“The Aaroygya Setu app has close to 90 million downloads till date and is being regularly updated, with feature like telemedicine being added,” Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant told reporters in a media briefing on Monday.

‘Aarogya Setu a surveillance system’

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had last week alleged that the Aarogya Setu mobile application is a “sophisticated surveillance system outsourced to a private operator, with no institutional oversight”.

“The Aarogya Setu application is a sophisticated surveillance system outsourced to a private operator, with no institutional oversight – raising serious data security and privacy concerns. Technology can help keep us safe; but fear must not be leveraged to track citizens without their consent,” tweeted Gandhi.

Later, another Congress leader, Shashi Tharoor, cautioned that coronavirus must not “become an excuse for the creation of a ‘surveillance state’ in India”.

He asserted that mandatory download of the Aarogya Setu app “raises serious privacy and data protection questions”.

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi has also expressed his concerns. “The Central govt is fighting COVID-19 with taali, thaali, bijli & a very shady app. Now Delhi’s Sultans have issued a farmaan that people have no choice in the matter. They MUST share their private data with govt (& whoever the govt wants?),” tweeted Owaisi.

Aarogya Setu app: Centre’s reaction

Union Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has rejected the allegations that the Aarogya Setu app is outsourced to the private sector. “Aarogya Setu is now being appreciated globally. The App is NOT outsourced to any private operator. Mr. Gandhi really high time that you stop outsourcing your tweets to your cronies who do not understand India. Daily a new lie,” Prasad tweeted.

“Aarogya Setu is a powerful companion which protects people. It has a robust data security architecture. Those who indulged in surveillance all their lives, won’t know how tech can be leveraged for good!” Prasad added.

जेईई आणि नीट परीक्षांच्या तारखा जाहीर; दोन्ही परीक्षा जुलैमध्ये

बारावीच्या विद्यार्थ्यांना गेले अनेक दिवस ज्या परीक्षांच्या तारखांची वाट पाहत आहेत, त्या तारखा आज जाहीर झाल्या. जेईई मेन, अॅडव्हान्स्ड आणि नीट परीक्षांच्या तारखांसंदर्भात महत्त्वाची घोषणा आज केंद्रीय मनुष्यबळ विकास मंत्री रमेश पोखरियाल यांनी केली. जेईई-मेन परीक्षा १८ जुलै २०२० ते २३ जुलै २०२० या कालावधीत होणार आहे, असे डॉ. रमेश पोखरियाल यांनी सांगितले. नीट परीक्षादेखील २६ जुलै २०२० रोजी घेतली जाणार आहे, असे त्यांनी सांगितले.

जेईई अॅडव्हान्स्ड परीक्षा ऑगस्ट २०२० मध्ये होणार आहे. सीबीएसई बोर्डाच्या दहावी, बारावीच्या उर्वरित परीक्षा कधी घेतल्या जाणार याबाबतचा निर्णय येत्या १ ते २ दिवसांत जाहीर केला जाणार आहे, अशी माहिती देखील केंद्रीय मनुष्यबळ विकास मंत्र्यांनी दिली. डॉ. पोखरियाल निशंक यांनी आज देशभरातील विद्यार्थ्यांशी वेबिनारद्वारे संवाद साधला. त्यावेळी त्यांनी या तारखा जाहीर केल्या. विद्यार्थ्यांना या तारखा कळल्यामुळे मोठा दिलासा मिळाला आहे.

देशभरातील आयआयटींमधील अभियांत्रिकीच्या पदवी अभ्यासक्रमांसाठी JEE Main ही परीक्षा घेतली जाते. यंदा ९ लाख विद्यार्थी या परीक्षेला बसले आहेत. देशातील वैद्यकीय अभ्यासक्रमांच्या प्रवेशांसाठी होणाऱ्या NEET परीक्षेला यंदा १५ लाख ९३ हजारांवर विद्यार्थी बसले आहेत. या परीक्षा नॅशनल टेस्टिंग एजन्सीद्वारे घेतल्या जातात.

देशातील विद्यापीठांमधील परीक्षा १ जुलैपासून घेणार. ऑगस्टपासून नवं सत्र सुरू करणार. कुठल्या ठिकाणी काय परिस्थिती आहे, त्याचा आढावा घेण्याचे अधिकाऱ्यांना आदेश दिले आहेत. जुलैनंतरही जर कुठल्या ठिकाणची परिस्थिती सामान्य नसेल तर तेथील आढावा घेऊन तसे निर्णय घेण्यात येतील, असे पोखरियाल म्हणाले.

विद्यापीठांमध्ये कोव्हिड – १९ टास्क फोर्स

प्रत्येक विद्यापीठात कोव्हिड – १९ टास्क फोर्स स्थापन करण्याचे आदेश यूजीसीद्वारे देण्यात आले आहेत. त्याद्वारे विद्यार्थ्यांच्या कोणत्या समस्या असतील तर त्या सोडवल्या जातील.
इंटरनेट सुविधा नसल्यास…

ज्या विद्यार्थ्यांकडे विशेषत: दुर्गम भागात इंटरनेटच्या सुविधा नसतील, याची आम्हाला जाणीव आहे, पण अशा वेळी विद्यार्थ्यांनी टीव्हीवर विविध चॅनेलवर सुरू असलेल्या ऑनलाइन वर्गांचा लाभ घ्यावा. ३५ विविध वाहिन्यांवर हे अभ्यासक्रम २४ तास सुरू आहेत, असे ते म्हणाले.

आयआयटींना फी न वाढवण्याचे आवाहन

देशातल्या आयआयटी या स्वायत्त संस्था आहेत, त्यांना शुल्कवाढीसंदर्भात निर्णय घेण्याचे अधिकार आहेत. मात्र तरीही आम्ही त्यांना विनंती केली आहे की यावर्षी आयआयटींमधील शुल्क वाढवू नये.

Windows 10X coming to single-screen devices first

San Francisco: Microsoft has confirmed that its aiming to refocus Windows 10X on single-screen devices like laptops first and will look for a right moment to integrate Windows 10X with dual-screen devices.

The move is seen as reprioritising Windows 10X for laptops and single-screen devices because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The world is a very different place than it was last October when we shared our vision for a new category of dual-screen Windows devices,” Panos Panay, Microsoft`s Chief Product Officer, Windows and Devices, said in a statement late Monday.

“With Windows 10X, we designed for flexibility, and that flexibility has enabled us to pivot our focus toward single-screen Windows 10X devices that leverage the power of the cloud to help our customers work, learn and play in new ways,” he added.

Windows 10X was originally planned for dual-screen devices like the Surface Neo.

“The single-screen devices will be the first expression of Windows 10X that we deliver to our customers, and we will continue to look for the right moment, in conjunction with our OEM partners, to bring dual-screen devices to market,” Panay informed.

In social distancing times, Microsoft users are spending over 4 trillion minutes on Windows 10 a month, a 75 per cent increase year on year.

“A great step the team is taking to meet customers where they are is with the Windows 10 May 2020 Update, coming free, as always, to every Windows 10 PC starting this month,” announced Panay.

In this update, Microsoft will introduce a more streamlined way to pair Bluetooth devices in Windows.

“We are bringing practical improvements in the bigger things, like an improved tablet experience when you detach your 2-in-1`s keyboard, allowing you to keep the familiarity of your desktop while at the same time optimizing for touch,” said the company executive.

With the May 2020 Update, “drag and drop” option will help those who use Eye Control functionality.

India a step closer to making key drug to treat Covid-19

India 2020: The Hyderabad based Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT) has synthesised the key starting materials (KSMs) for Remdesivir, the first step to develop the active pharmaceutical ingredient in a drug.

IICT has also begun so-called technology demonstrations for drug manufacturers such as Cipla so that manufacturing can begin in India, if needed. Remdesivir, manufactured by Gilead Sciences, is the first drug to treat Covid-19 approved for emergency use in the US based on clinical data .

Gilead Sciences has a patent on the drug but patent laws allow for the drug to be developed solely for research purposes and not for commercial manufacturing. Remdesivir, when administered by an intravenous infusion helped patients recover on an average in 11 days, compared to 15 days taken by those on placebo according to US clinical trial results.

India is part of the World Health Organisation’s Solidarity Trials for the cure of Covid-19 and has received 1000 doses of the drug for testing.

Harsh Vardhan, science and technology and health minister said in a statement on Monday that synthesis of KSMs has been achieved by CSIR-IICT and that technology demonstrations to Indian industry are happening. For Favipiravir, another promising drug to treat Covid19, CSIR is working with the private sector for clinical trials and a possible launch in India.

Remdesivir has three KSMs, Pyrrole, Furan and a Phosphate intermediate. Dr Srivari Chandrasekhar, director of IICT said over phone from Hyderabad that synthesis of KSMs is an important stage in drug development.

“The synthesis of key starting materials (KSM) for any drug is the first step to develop an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). These key starting materials for Remdesivir are available in India and chemical companies can manufacture these. Other reagents can be sourced from other countries. We started working on KSM for Remdesivir in January end, when trials had begun in China,” he said.

Gilead Sciences CEO, Daniel O’ Day in an open letter on April 29 said: “On the supply side, we are working to build a global consortium of pharmaceutical and chemical manufacturers to expand global capacity and production. It will be essential for countries to work together to create enough supply for people all over the world and we look forward to these collaborative efforts.”

Experts said the Indian government could request Gilead Sciences for grant of voluntary licenses to Indian private companies for a royalty. If not, India could use the compulsory licence option, under which it, or a generics manufacturer can manufacture patented drugs so as to protect the health of its citizens. The patent hlder, however, gets paid for this.

“Because it is a patented drug, there are two options. One is that manufacturers obtain permission from the patent holder for a license to manufacture. The other option is that the Indian government allows two to three manufacturers to manufacture the drug on a compulsory license or a government use license. The manufacturers will need regulatory clearances which will be available only when more clinical data is available on the efficacy of the drug,” said KM Gopakumar, an intellectual property rights expert.

बंगळुरु : लॉकडाउनमुळे बंद असलेली दारुची दुकानं (Karnataka Liquor Sale ) आज तब्बल दीड महिन्यांनी उघडली. त्यामुळे तळीरामांमध्ये भलताच उत्साह आज पाहायला मिळाला. सकाळपासूनच दारुच्या दुकानांसमोर ग्राहकांची गर्दी पाहायला मिळाली. कर्नाटकात तर तळीरामांनी दारु खरेदीचा नवा विक्रम केल्याचं चित्र आहे. कर्नाटकात आज एका दिवसात दारुची विक्रमी विक्री झाली आहे. आज दिवसभरात तब्बल 45 कोटींची मद्यविक्री कर्नाटकात झाली, अशी माहिती उत्पादन शुल्क (Karnataka Liquor Sale ) विभागाने दिली.

कोरोनाचा प्रादुर्भाव होऊ नये, म्हणून देशात लॉकडाऊन आहे. आजपासून या लॉकडाऊनच्या तिसऱ्या पर्वाला सुरुवात झाली. त्यासोबतच सरकारने आजपासून लॉकडाऊनचे काही नियम शिथिल केले. याअंतर्गत कंटेनमेंट झोन वगळता इतर सर्व झोनमधील दारु दुकानं उघडण्यास सशर्त परवागनी देण्यात आली. त्यामुळे आज देशातील दारु दुकानं उघडण्याच्या आधीच दुकानांबाहेर लोकांच्या रांगा दिसून आल्या.

कर्नाटकातही दारुची दुकानं उघडण्यापूर्वी तळीरामांनी दुकानांबाहेर नंबर लावून ठेवल्याचं पाहायला मिळालं. अनेक ठिकाणी फटाके फोडून दुकाने उघडण्यात आली, तर काहींनी पहिल्या ग्राहकाच्या गळ्यात हार घालून त्याचं (Karnataka Liquor Sale ) स्वागत केलं. तब्बल दीड महिन्यांनी दारुची दुकानं उघडल्याने कर्नाटकात तळीरामांमध्ये मोठा उत्साह पाहायला मिळाला. त्यामुळे एका दिवसात 45 कोटी रुपयांची दारु विक्री झाली. यामध्ये 3.9 लाख लिटर बिअरची विक्री झाली आहे, तर 8.5 लाख लिटर देशी दारुची विक्री झाली आहे. फक्त 10 तासात 45 कोटी रुपयांची दारु विक्री झाली आहे. उत्पादन शुल्क विभागाने ही माहिती दिली.

आजपासून कुठे काय सुरु राहणार?

रेड, ग्रीन आणि ऑरेंज झोनमध्ये काय सुरु राहील आणि काय नाही याबाबत केंद्रीय गृहमंत्रालयाने शुक्रवारी नवी नियमावली जारी केली. यानुसार, गृहमंत्रालयाने दारुची दुकानं, पानटपऱ्या, ब्युटी पार्लर आणि सलून उघडण्याची परवानगी दिली. त्यासंबंधी काही नियम ठरवण्यात आले.

– दुकानांवर एकमेकांपासून जवळपास सहा फुटांचं अंतर ठेवावं.

– दुकानावर एकावेळी पाच पेक्षा जास्त व्यक्ती नको.

या नियमांनुसार, ऑरेंज आणि ग्रीन झोन आणि रेड झोनमधील कंटेनमेंट झोन वगळता दारुची दुकानं उघडी ठेवता येणार आहेत.

नागपूर: कोविड-१९च्या पार्श्वभूमीवर राज्यात तिसरे लॉकडाऊन लागू करण्यात आले आहे. शासनाने घोषित नवीन मार्गदर्शक सुचनांच्या अनुषंगाने नागपूर शहरात जीवनावश्यक वस्तूंसह निवासी संकुलातील आणि रहिवासी परिसरातील फक्त होजियरी आणि स्टेशनरी दुकाने, इन सीटू बांधकाम कार्य आणि १० टक्के कर्मचा-यांच्या उपस्थितीत शासकीय कार्यालय सुरू करण्याचा निर्णय मनपा आयुक्त तुकाराम मुंढे यांनी सोमवारी (ता.४) घेतला आहे. शहरातील नऊ प्रतिबंधित क्षेत्र (कंटेन्मेंट झोन) व गांधीबाग, सतरंजीपुरा, आसीनगर आणि मंगळवारी हे चार प्रशासकीय मनपा झोन वगळता लक्ष्मीनगर, धरमपेठ, हनुमाननगर, धंतोली, नेहरूनगर, लकडगंज या सर्व सहाही मनपा झोनसाठी हे आदेश लागू राहणार आहेत. मात्र संपूर्ण शहरातील खाजगी कार्यालयासह दारुची दुकाने, वाईन शॉप, पानठेले, शॉपींग मॉल, सलून, स्पा आदी सर्व बंदच राहणार असल्याचेही आयुक्तांनी स्पष्ट केले आहे.

वाढत्या कोरोना रुग्णांच्या संख्येमुळे केंद्र आणि राज्य सरकारच्या वतीने लॉकडाऊन वाढविण्यात आले आहे. केंद्र आणि राज्य सरकारच्या आरोग्य विभागाद्वारे सादर करण्यात आलेल्या अहवालानुसार नागपूर शहरामध्येही १५ मे पर्यंत कोरोनाग्रस्तांच्या संख्येत वाढ होण्याची शक्यता नाकारता येत नाही. त्यानुसार शहरात निर्माण होणारा कोरोना संसर्गाचा धोका टाळण्यासाठी तिसरे लॉकडाऊन लागू करण्यात आले असून यामध्ये नागरिकांना केवळ काही गोष्टींसाठीच शिथिलता देण्यात आली आहे. मात्र त्यासाठीही त्यांना सोशल डिस्टंसिंगचे पालन करणे, मास्क लावणे या नियमांचे पालन करणे अनिवार्य आहे. नागपूर शहराला कोरोनामुक्त करण्यासाठी नागरिकांच्या हिताच्या दृष्टीने काही कठोर निर्णय घेण्यात येत आहेत, असेही मनपा आयुक्त तुकाराम मुंढे यांनी सांगितले आहे.

मनपा आयुक्तांनी जारी केलेल्या निर्णयामध्ये तीन महत्वाच्या गोष्टींसाठी त्यांनी शिथिलता दिली आहे. शहरातील लक्ष्मीनगर, धरमपेठ, हनुमाननगर, धंतोली, नेहरूनगर, लकडगंज या सहा झोनमध्ये रहिवासी क्षेत्रातील, निवासी संकुलातील आणि रहिवासी परिसरातील फक्त होजियरी आणि स्टेशनरी दुकानांना परवानगी देण्यात आली आहे. तसेच नमूद क्षेत्रातील इन सीटू बांधकामासाठी परवानगी देण्यात आली आहे. यासाठी बांधकामस्थळी कामगारांच्या निवासाची व्यवस्था असणे आवश्यक आहे. याशिवाय नमूद क्षेत्रातील शासकीय कार्यालये १० टक्के उपस्थितीसह सुरू करण्याबाबत सुद्धा परवानगी देण्यात आली आहे. यासाठी सर्व संबंधितांना सोशल डिस्टंसिंगचे पालन करणे, मास्क लावणे, सॅनिटायजरचा वापर करणे बंधनकारक आहे. विशेष म्हणजे शहरातील कोणत्याही भागात दारूची दुकाने किंवा वाईन शॉप, पानठेले, शॉपिंग मॉल सुरू करण्याबाबत कोणतिही परवानगी नसल्याचे मनपा आयुक्त तुकाराम मुंढे यांनी आदेशात स्पष्टपणे नमूद केले आहे.

शहरात कोविडची स्थिती लक्षात घेता संबंधित शिथिलता देण्याबाबत टप्प्याटप्प्याने पुढील आदेश जारी करण्यात येणार असल्याचेही त्यांनी सांगितले. अनुज्ञेय केलेल्या शिथिलतेबाबत नव्याने कोणतिही परवानगी घेण्याची गरज नसल्याचेही नमूद करण्यात आले आहे. मात्र त्यासाठी शासनाने नेमून दिलेल्या एस.ओ.पी. चे पालन करणे बंधनकारक करण्यात आले आहे.

India 2020: The nationwide lockdown 3.0 to curb the spread of coronavirus COVID-19 in India started on Monday (May 4) with some relaxations oin lockdown rules in areas that are in green zone and orange zone. The movement of people and opening of businesses in red zones and containment zones will continue to remain restricted.

What’s open in lockdown 3.0:

Red Zones

-All industrial and construction activities in rural areas, including MNREGA works, food-processing units and brick-kilns are permitted; besides, in rural areas, without distinction to the nature of goods, all shops, except in shopping malls are permitted.
-All agriculture activities, e.g., sowing, harvesting, procurement and marketing operations in the agricultural supply chain.
-Animal husbandry activities are fully permitted, including inland and marine fisheries.
-All health services (including AYUSH) are to remain functional
– Banks, non-banking finance companies (NBFCs), insurance and capital market activities, and credit co-operative societies to remian functional.
– Operation of homes for children, senior citizens, destitutes, women and widows etc.; and operation of Anganwadis
– Public utilities, e.g., utilities in power, water, sanitation, waste management, telecommunications and internet will remain open, and courier and postal services will be allowed to operate.
– Print and electronic media, IT and IT enabled services, data and call centres, cold storage and warehousing services, private security and facility management services, and services provided by self-employed persons, except for barbers etc.
– Manufacturing units of essential goods, including drugs, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, their raw material and intermediates; production units, which require continuous process, and their supply chain; Jute industry with staggered shifts and social distancing; and manufacturing of IT hardware and manufacturing units of packaging material will continue to be permitted.

Orange Zones

All activities which are allowed in Red Zone are permitted in the Orange Zones.

In Orange Zones, taxis and cab aggregators will be permitted with 1 driver and one passenger only. Inter-district movement of individuals and vehicles will be allowed for activities which are permitted by the state governments only. Four wheeler vehicles will be allowed to have only two passengers besides the driver and pillion riding will be allowed on two-wheelers.

Green Zones

In the Green Zones, all activities are permitted except some activities that are prohibited across the country in all the three zones. Buses will be allowed to operate with 50 per cent seating capacity and bus depots can remian functional with upto 50 per cent capacity.

All goods traffic is permitted. The MHA has allowed e-commerce firms to deliver non-essential items in orange and green zones.

What’s closed in lockdown 3.0

Besides the zone-wise restriction, there are some activities that will remain prohibited throughout the country, irrespective of zones

Travel by air, rail, metro and inter-state movement by the road will remain prohibited in all zones.

School, college, institutions, hospitality services, including hotels and restaurants, place of large gathering, such as cinema halls, malls, gym, sports complex, social, political, cultural and all kind of gathering, religious place/ place of worship for public will remain shut during the lockdown.

Mumbai: Indian skipper Virat Kohli has paid tribute to Colonel Ashutosh Sharma and four other security personnel who were martyred in an encounter with terrorists in North Kashmir’s Handwara district.

Taking to his official Twitter handle, Kohli posted a collage comprising of all the five soldiers who lost their lives in Handwara encounter and extended his condolences to their families.

Describing these army personnel as ‘true heroes’, the 31-year-old captain further said that the sacrifices of these soldiers must not be forgetten.

“Those who don’t forget their duty in any circumstances are true heroes. Their sacrifices must not be forgotten. I bow my head to the army personnel & the policemen who lost their lives at Handwara and sincerely send my condolences to their families and wish them peace.Jai Hind,” Kohli tweeted.

On Sunday, five security officers, four from the Indian Army — including the Commanding Officer of a unit of Indian Army’s counter-insurgency force Colonel Ashutosh Sharma and Major Anuj Sood, and one officer of the Jammu and Kashmir Police were martyred in the encounter that took place in Chanjmulla area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Handwara. Two terrorists were also been killed in the encounter.

According to sources in the Army, the Army unit was trying to prevent a civilian hostage situation when the encounter ensued. They were successful in evacuating the civilians.

The encounter started on Saturday (May 2) after the security forces succeeded in trapping the terrorists inside the house located in the forest of Handwara.

विदर्भात कोरोनाबाधित रुग्णांची संख्या ३८०; अमरावतीत दोन तर नागपुरात एक रुग्ण

नागपूर : विदर्भात कोरोनाबाधित रुग्णांची नोंद होऊन दीड महिन्यावर कालावधी झाला असताना, शनिवारी चंद्रपूर जिल्ह्यात पहिल्या कोरोनाबाधित रुग्णाची नोंद झाल्याने खळबळ उडाली. विशेष म्हणजे, मधल्या काळात रुग्णसंख्या स्थिर असलेल्या अकोल्यात आता रुग्ण वाढू लागले आहेत.

रविवारी १५ रुग्णांचे नमुने पॉझिटिव्ह आले. शिवाय, अमरावतीत दोन तर नागपुरात एका रुग्णाची नोंद झाली. या रुग्णांसह विदर्भात एकूण रुग्णसंख्या ३८० झाली आहे. नागपूरच्या अखिल भारतीय आयुर्विज्ञान संस्थेच्या (एम्स) प्रयोगशाळेत ३० वर्षीय महिलेचा नमुना आज पॉझिटिव्ह आला. नागपुरात रुग्णाची संख्या १५१ वर पोहचली आहे. रविवारी आणखी दोन रुग्णांचे नमुने १४ दिवसानंतर निगेटिव्ह आल्याने त्यांना रुग्णालयातून सुटी देण्यात आली. कोरोनामुक्त झालेल्या रुग्णांची संख्या ४८ झाली आहे. नागपुरात पहिल्यांदाच पॉझिटिव्ह गर्भवती महिलेची सुरक्षित प्रसूती करण्यात आली. या महिलेची नॉर्मल प्रसूती झाली असून, तिने एका मुलाला जन्म दिला.

अकोला जिल्ह्यात एकाच दिवशी १५ कोरोनाबाधित रुग्णांची नोंद झाली. यातच दोन रुग्णांचा मृत्यू झाल्याने सामान्यांमध्ये भीतीचे वातावरण पसरले आहे. जिल्ह्याची रुग्णसंख्या ५५ वर पोहचली आहे. अमरावती जिल्ह्यातही आणखी दोन रुग्णांचे निदान झाले. येथील रुग्णसंख्या ५५ झाली आहे. तीन रुग्णांच्या मृत्यूने येथील मृताची संख्या १० वर गेली आहे. बुलडाण्यातील रुग्णसंख्या एक आठवड्यापासून २४ वर स्थिरावली आहे. चंद्रपूर, भंडारा, गोंदिया व वाशीम जिल्ह्यातील प्रत्येकी एका रुग्णाची नोंद आहे.

India 2020: Silver Lake Partners, the American private equity giant, has bought one percent of Jio Platforms for $750 million (Rs. 5,655.75 crore) in a deal that values the tech and digital arm of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) at $65 billion.

The deal comes less than two weeks after Facebook spent $5.7 billion to buy a 9.99 percent stake in Jio. The Facebook-Jio deal was the social media network’s biggest since its $22 billion buyout of WhatsApp in 2014.

This is the first sizable investment by SLP in India and reaffirms Jio’s technological capabilities and the potential of the business model, even in this Covid-19 world and beyond. This is at a 12.5 percent premium over the FB deal announced on April 22 this year.

Commenting on the transaction, RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani said, “I am delighted to welcome Silver Lake as a valued partner in continuing to grow and transform the Indian digital ecosystem for the benefit of all Indians. Silver Lake has an outstanding record of being a valuable partner for leading technology companies globally. Silver Lake is one of the most respected voices in technology and finance. We are excited to leverage insights from their global technology relationships for the Indian Digital Society’s transformation.”

Silver Lake shot into prominence after acquiring PC maker Dell Inc along with Michael Dell in 2013. It is a global leader in technology investing, with over $43 billion in combined assets under management and committed capital and a team of approximately 100 investment and operating professionals located around the world in Silicon Valley, New York, Hong Kong and London.

On April 30, Reliance had said, “In addition to the Facebook investment, the Board was informed that RIL has received strong interest from other strategic and financial investors and is in good shape to announce a similar sized investment in the coming months.”

On April 22, Facebook bought 9.9 percent stake in Jio Platforms for Rs 43,574 crore. That deal valued Jio at Rs 4.62 lakh crore ($65.95 billion).

Since its launch three years ago, Jio, led by billionaire Mukesh Ambani, has grown at a sprinter’s pace to become India’s largest telecom company. It has accumulated some 340 million customers through a barrage of innovations, including offering cut-throat mobile internet prices and a diverse suite of products and including chat services, movies, games and music.

The deal will help reduce RIL’s debt burden, which bulged due to the breakneck expansion of Jio and other businesses. Ambani invested around $40 billion to launch Jio in 2016. RIL is also the largest retail player in India thanks to a series of aggressive expansionary moves into consumer-facing businesses such as e-commerce and grocery.

On April 30, Reliance Industries said it will achieve zero net debt status ahead of schedule, as it announced its quarterly and annual results.

In addition to the investment by Facebook, the company said, it has received strong interest from other strategic and financial investors and is in good shape to announce a similar-sized investment in the coming months.

१४०८ लोकांच्या विलगीकरणाला आव्हान

नागपूर: करोनाबाधित झाल्याच्या संशयावरून सतरंजीपुऱ्यातील १४०८ जणांना सक्तीने विलगीकरण कक्षात का ठेवण्यात आले, अशी परखड विचारणा मुंबई उच्च न्यायालयाच्या नागपूर खंडपीठाने केंद्र सरकार, राज्य सरकार आणि मनपाला केली आहे.

छावणी येथील निवासी मोहम्मद निशात मोहम्मद सलीम यांनी नागपूर हायकोर्टात याचिका दाखल केली. रविवार असूनही न्या. अनिल किलोर यांनी त्या याचिकेवर व्हिडीओ कॉन्फरन्सद्वारे सुनावणी केली. सतरंजीपुऱ्यात करोनाचे सर्वाधिक रुग्ण आढळून आले आहेत. त्यामुळे महापालिका आयुक्त तुकाराम मुंढे यांनी तेथील बहुतांश महिला, पुरुष व बालकांना थेट विलगीकरण कक्षात ठेवण्याचे आदेश दिलेत. त्यामुळे गेल्या काही दिवसात ज्यांना करोनाचे कोणतेही लक्षण नाहीत, अशा १४०८ जणांना अवैधरीत्या ताब्यात ठेवण्यात आले आहे, असा आरोप याचिकेत करण्यात आला आहे.

करोना संशयित रुग्णांबाबत आयसीएमआरने काही मार्गदर्शक तत्त्वे काढली आहेत. त्यांनुसार करोनाबाधिताच्या अत्यंत जवळच्या नातलगांनाच १४ दिवसांकरिता विलगीकरण करण्यात यावे, असे नमूद केले आहे. परंतु, नागपूर महापालिकेने करोना रुग्णाच्या संपर्कात कोणी आले अथवा नाही, हे निश्चित तपासणी न करताच सतरंजीपुऱ्यातील कोणालाही निवडून विलगीकरणासाठी ताब्यात घेतले, असा दावाही याचिकेत केला आहे.

अशाप्रकारे केवळ संशयाच्या आधारे नागरिकांना ताब्यात घेऊन नागपूर महापालिकेने त्या नागरिकांच्या मूलभूत अधिकारांचे हनन केले आहे. आयसीएमआरने अशा करोनाबाधित हॉटस्पॉट क्षेत्रात रॅपिड टेस्ट करण्याबाबत ४ एप्रिल, १७ एप्रिल आणि २२ एप्रिल रोजी राज्य सरकारांना विशेष मार्गदर्शक सूचना दिल्या होत्या. मात्र, सतरंजीपुऱ्यात अशी रॅपिड टेस्ट करण्यात आल्या नाहीत. त्या झाल्या असत्या तर करोनाबाधित रुग्ण सापडले असते, त्यानंतर प्रशासनाला कारवाई करणे सहज शक्य झाले असते, असे याचिकेत म्हटले आहे.

याचिकेवर सुनावणी करताना न्या. अनिल किलोर यांनी केंद्र वराज्य सरकार, मनपा, आयसीएमआर यांना नोटीस बजावली असून दोन दिवसांत उत्तर सादर करण्याचा आदेश दिला आहे. याचिकाकर्त्यांतर्फे अ‍ॅड. तुषार मंडलेकर, राज्य सरकारतर्फे सरकारी वकील सुमंत देवपुजारी, केंद्र सरकारतर्फे अतिरिक्त सॉलिसिटर जनरल उल्हास औरंगाबादकर, मनपातर्फे सुधीर पुराणिक यांनी बाजू मांडली.

‘संस्थात्मक’ला विरोध

करोनाबाधितांचे शहराबाहेर संस्थात्मक विलगीकरण करावे, अशा केंद्र सरकारच्या सूचना आहेत. मात्र, नागपुरात आमदार निवास, वनामती, रविभवन, व्हीएनआयटी वसतिगृह जिथे नागरी वस्ती आहे, तिथे ठेवण्यात आले आहे. करोनाच्या रुग्णांनादेखील घरात विलगीकरण करावे, संस्थात्मक ठेवू नये, असे निर्देश केंद्र सरकारचे असतानाही त्याचे पालन होत नाही, असा दावा करण्यात आला.

नवी दिल्ली : पंतप्रधान नरेंद्र मोदी यांनी देशव्यापी लॉकडाऊनची घोषणा केल्यानंतर देशात विविध भागांत अडकलेल्या मजुरांसाठी विशेष रेल्वेची व्यवस्था करण्यात आलीय. या ‘श्रमिक स्पेशल’ रेल्वेचा खर्च मात्र मजुरांनीच भरावा, असे निर्देश केंद्र सरकारकडून देण्यात आले आहेत. यावर अखिलश यादव यांच्यासहीत अनेकांकडून चांगलीच टीका करण्यात आली. मात्र, आता काँग्रेस अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी यांनी या गरीब मजुरांच्या प्रवासाचा खर्च काँग्रेस उचलणार असल्याचं जाहीर केलंय.

‘परदेशात अडकलेल्या भारतीयांना मोफत मायदेशात आणण्यात आलं पण गरीब कामगारांकडून मात्र तिकीटाचे पैसे वसूल केले जात आहेत. अशावेळी काँग्रेस कमेटीनं प्रत्येक गरजवंत श्रमिक आणि कामगाराचा घरी परतण्याचा रेल्वे खर्च स्वत:हून उचलण्याचा निर्णय घेतलाय. यासाठी योग्य ती पावलं उचलली जातील’ काँग्रेसच्या ट्विटर हॅन्डलरवर जाहीर करण्यात आलेल्या सोनिया गांधींच्या वक्तव्यात म्हटलं गेलंय.

सोनिया गांधींनी काय म्हटलंय आपल्या वक्तव्यात…

‘श्रमिक आणि कामगार हा देशाचा कणा आहे. त्यांच्या मेहनतीमुळे आणि त्यागामुळेच देशाचा पाया रचला गेलाय. केवळ चार तासांच्या नोटीसवर लॉकडाऊन सुरू झाल्यानं लाखो श्रमिक आणि कामगार आपल्या घरी परतू शकले नाहीत. १९४७ च्या विभाजनानंतर देशात पहिल्यांदाच अशी हृदयद्रावक परिस्थिती पाहायला मिळाली, जिथं हजारो श्रमिक आणि कामगारांवर शेकडो किलोमीटर पायीच आपल्या घरी परतण्याची वेळ आली. त्यांच्याकडे ना धान्य, ना पैसा, ना औषध, ना साधनं, पण केवळ आपल्या कुटुंबात परण्याची आस… त्यांची व्यथा विचार करूनच मनाला कापरं भरतं, आणि त्यांचा दृढ निश्चय आणि संकल्प प्रत्येक भारतीयाला कौतुकास्पद वाटतो. पण देशाचं आणि सरकारचं कर्तव्य काय आहे? आजही लाखो श्रमिकांना आणि कामगारांना संपूर्ण देशाच्या वेगवेगळ्या कोपऱ्यांतून आपल्या घरी परतायचंय, पण साधनंही नाहीत आणि पैसेही…’ असं म्हणताना सोनिया गांधी यांनी गरीबांबद्दल आपल्या संवेदना व्यक्त केल्या आहेत.

‘काँग्रेसनं निशुल्क रेल्वे प्रवासाचा मुद्दा वारंवार उचलला. दुर्भाग्यानं सरकारनं आणि रेल्वे मंत्रालयानं काहीही ऐकलं नाही. यासाठी भारतीय राष्ट्रीय काँग्रेसनं हा निर्णय घेतलाय की प्रदेश काँग्रेस समिती प्रत्येक गरजवंत श्रमिक आणि कामगाराच्या घरी परतण्यासाठीचा रेल्वे खर्च उचलणार आहे. यासाठी योग्य ती पावलं उचलली जातील. मेहनती लोकांच्या खांद्याला खांदा लावून मानव सेवेच्या या संकल्पात काँग्रेसचं हेच योगदान असेल’, असं त्यांनी जाहीर केलंय.

सोबतच त्यांनी मोदी सरकारवर जोरदार टीका केलीय. ‘आपण परदेशात अडकलेल्या भारतीयांना आपलं कर्तव्य समजून विमानं पाठवून निशुल्क परत आणू शकतो, गुजरातच्या केवळ एका कार्यक्रमासाठी सरकारी खजान्यातून १०० करोड रुपये ट्रान्सपोर्ट आणि भोजन इत्यादीवर खर्च करू शकतो, जेव्हा रेल्वे मंत्रालय पंतप्रधानांच्या करोना फंडात १५१ कोटी दान करू शकतात, तर केवळ प्रगतीच्या या ध्वजवाहकांना तुम्ही निशुल्क रेल्वे प्रवासाची सुविधा देऊ शकत नाहीत का?’ असा प्रश्नही सोनिया गांधींनी मोदी सरकारला आणि रेल्वे मंत्रालयाला विचारलाय.

नागपुरातून 1200 मजुरांना घेऊन विशेष ‘श्रमिक’ एक्स्प्रेस उत्तर प्रदेशला रवाना

नागपूर : नागपूरमधून उत्तर प्रदेशाच्या लखनौसाठी एक विशेष श्रमिक एक्स्प्रेस ट्रेन रवाना झाली आहे. 24 डब्यांच्या या विशेष ट्रेनमधून सुमारे 1200 मजूर त्यांच्या गावी रवाना झाले आहे. नागपूरसह पूर्व विदर्भातील सर्वच जिल्ह्यातून आलेले मजूर या ट्रेनने उत्तर प्रदेशात रवाना झाले.

यावेळी नागपूरचे पालकमंत्री डॉ. नितीन राऊत यांच्यासह विभागीय आयुक्त संजीव कुमार, जिल्हाधिकारी रवींद्र ठाकरे आणि इतर प्रशासनिक अधिकाऱ्यांनी गावी परत जाणाऱ्या मजुरांना शुभेच्छा दिल्या आणि टाळ्या वाजवून या विशेष गाडीला रवाना केले.

लॉकडाउनच्या काळात विविध सरकारी कॅम्पसमध्ये राहत असलेल्या 1200 मजुरांची वैदकीय तपासणी केल्यानंतर या ट्रेनमधून त्यांना उत्तर प्रदेशात पाठवण्यासाठी निवडण्यात आलं होतं. पोलीस आणि जिल्हा प्रशासनाने आज संध्याकाळी या 1200 मजुरांना बसेसने रेल्वे स्टेशनजवळ आणले. तिथून सोशल डिस्टन्सिंगच्या नियमांचे पालन करून या सर्वांना रेल्वे प्रशासनने रेल्वे स्टेशनच्या आत घेतले.

नागपुरातून सुटलेली ही विशेष ट्रेन इटारसी, झाशी, कानपूरमार्गे लखनौला जाणार आहे. मात्र मजुरांना फक्त लखनौला उतरता येणार आहे. दरम्यान या ट्रेनमधून गेलेल्या प्रवाशांकडून 505 रुपये भाडे घेण्यात आलं आहे. दरम्यान मजुरांकडून वसूल करण्यात आलेल्या भाड्याच्या मुद्द्यावरून आता राजकारण सुरू झाले आहे. नागपूरचे पालकमंत्री नितीन राऊत यांनी मजुरांकडून भाडे वसूल केल्याबद्दल नाराजी व्यक्त करत मजुरांचं रेल्वेचं भाडे पीएम केयर्स फंडमधून देण्याची मागणी केली आहे.

शनिवारी 2 विशेष बसेसमधून 52 कामगार राजस्थानमधील नागौरला रवाना झाले होते. तर आज रात्रीही अनेक बसेसमधून शेकडो कामगार मध्यप्रदेश आणि उत्तर प्रदेशला रवाना होणार आहे.

राज्यातील कोरोनाची स्थिती

राज्यात रविवारी कोरोनाच्या 678 नवीन रुग्णांची नोंद झाली. त्यामुळे राज्यातील कोरोनाबाधितांची संख्या 12,974 झाली असल्याची माहिती आरोग्यमंत्री राजेश टोपे यांनी दिली. दिलासादायक बाब म्हणजे आज 115 रुग्ण बरे होऊन घरी गेले. तर राज्यात आतापर्यंत एकूण 2115 कोरोनाबाधित रुग्ण बरे झाले आहेत. दरम्यान, आज दिवसभरात 27 कोरोना बाधित रुग्णांचा मृत्यू झाला.

लॉकडाऊन-३ मध्ये नागपुरात कुठलिही शिथिलता नाही

नागपूर, ता. ३ : कोव्हिड-१९ च्या पार्श्वभूमीवर देशभरासाठी तिसऱ्या टप्प्यातील लॉकडाऊन जाहीर झाले आहे. लॉकडाऊन 3.O मध्ये केंद्र आणि राज्य शासनाने झोननिहाय काही शिथिलता जाहीर केली आहे. मात्र, नागपूर शहर हे ‘रेड झोन’ मध्ये असल्याकारणाने येथे कुठलही शिथिलता राहणार नाही. दुसऱ्या टप्प्यातील लॉकडाऊनमध्ये ज्या सवलती होत्या, त्याच कायम राहतील. यासंदर्भातील नवे आदेश नागपूर महानगरपालिकेचे आयुक्त तुकाराम मुंढे यांनी जारी केले आहेत.

या आदेशात नमूद केल्यानुसार, सरकारी आस्थापना अथवा खासगी कार्यालयांना ३० टक्के कर्मचारी संख्या ठेवून कार्य सुरू करण्यास नागपुरात पुढील आदेशापर्यंत बंदी कायम राहील. वाईन शॉप किंवा अन्य कुठलीही दुकाने नागपूर महानगरपालिका हद्दीत सुरू होणार नाहीत, असे आदेशात नमूद केले आहे. लॉकडाऊन ३ मध्ये मुंबई, पुणे शहरासाठी जे नियम लागू आहेत तेच नियम नागपूर शहरासाठी लागू राहतील. त्यामुळे नागरिकांनी कुठलाही संभ्रम ठेवू नये. लॉकडाऊन-२ प्रमाणेच लॉकडाऊन -३ मध्ये नियम लागू राहतील. हे सर्व नियम पाळत कोरोनाची साखळी तोडण्यासाठी लॉकडाऊन पाळावे, असे आवाहन नागपूर महानगरपालिकेचे आयुक्त तुकाराम मुंढे यांनी केले आहे.

नागपूर रेड झोनमध्ये असल्याने नागरिकांच्या आरोग्यासाठी ही काळजी घेणे आवश्यक आहे. नियम किती लवकर शिथिल करायचे ते आता नागरिकांनाच ठरवायचे आहे. त्यामुळे ‘लॉकडाऊन 3.O’ चे काटेकोर पालन करा आणि नागपूरचे व्यवहार लवकरात लवकर सुरळीत करण्यासाठी सहकार्य करा, असेही आवाहन त्यांनी केले आहे

नागपूर : कोव्हिड-१९ च्या पार्श्वभूमीवर सुरू असलेल्या लॉकडाऊनमध्ये राज्यात आणि राज्याबाहेर अडकलेल्या मजूर, विद्यार्थी, पर्यटक आणि अन्य व्यक्तींसाठी केंद्र शासनाने जारी केलेल्या निर्देशानुसार नागपूर महानगरपालिकेनेही त्यासाठी अर्ज करण्याचे आवाहन केले होते. या आवाहनाला दाद देत नागपुरातून बाहेर जाण्यासाठी सुमारे दोन हजार व्यक्तींनी ऑनलाईन आणि ऑफलाईन अर्ज केले आहेत.

यासाठी नागपूर महानगरपालिकेने https://forms.gle/ra3cySfPtBeVBvzi6 ही लिंक जारी केली आहे. त्या लिंकवर गेल्यानंतर असलेला फॉर्म नागरिकांना भरायचा होता. नागपूर महानगरपालिकेने जाहीर केल्यानंतर शनिवारी (ता. २) दिवसभरात सुमारे एक हजारांवर नागरिकांनी ऑनलाईन अर्ज दाखल केले. याव्यतिरिक्त नागपूर महानगरपालिकेतर्फे सुरू असलेल्या बेघर निवाऱ्यातही परराज्यातील अनेक मजूर आहेत. त्यातील ज्या मजुरांना त्यांच्या स्वगृही जायचे असेल त्यांची माहिती देण्याचे निर्देश मनपा आयुक्त तुकाराम मुंढे यांनी निवारा व्यवस्थापकांना दिले होते. तेथून आणि अन्य ठिकाणाहून ऑफलाईन अर्जाची संख्या ही सुद्धा एक हजारांच्या घरात आहे.

ऑनलाईन अर्ज करणाऱ्यांचा आकडा मिनिटामिनिटाला वाढत असून सायंकाळी ६ वाजतापर्यंत १०५२ व्यक्तींनी अर्ज केले होते. ज्यांचे अर्ज प्राप्त झाले आहेत, त्यांना नागपूर महानगरपालिकेचे अधिकारी संपर्क करून त्यांच्या जाण्यासंदर्भातील व्यवस्थेची माहिती देतील. नागपूर महानगरपालिकेच्या वतीने करण्यात आलेल्या या सुविधेबद्दल अनेक नागरिकांनी मनपाचे आभार मानत मनपाच्या अधिकृत सोशल मीडिया हॅण्डलवर आभार मानले आहे.
