“Be a Santa”: Wockhardt Hospital gives holiday cheer to orphan kids

Nagpur: Smiling with their innocent faces and dancing to the holiday beats, children of Shri Shradhanand orphanage got a happy holiday cheer by a team of Wockhardt Hospitals Nagpur. Hospital team visited the kids to celebrate Christmas with them which made their holidays merry indeed.

To spread happiness during these unprecedented times the event “Be a Santa” was conducted by Wockhardt Hospitals, Nagpur. In this a donation drive was organized and people donated clothes, books, toys and blankets to the hospital. These donated items were distributed among the children.

“We are trying to give to the society with such events and we consider this as our responsibility to contribute for such causes”, said Mr. Abhinandan Dastenavar, Centre Head, Wockhardt Hospitals, Nagpur. “The spirit of Christmas is the spirit of love and of generosity and of goodness. Following the same, we have conducted this event hoping for a better life full of happiness for these kids who are not as privileged as us”, he added.

Adding on, the patients admitted in the hospital were greeted by the hospital Santa and were given special food to bring joy to them during their hospitalization. The hospital team met the patients to make them feel comfortable and happy in the troubled times.

1 IN 5 CONSUMERS IN MAHARASHTRA PREFER HOME-DELIVERY OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AS THEIR PREFERRED PURCHASING MODE – SURVEY

Mumbai: With digitization ruling the roost in the post-pandemic era, YouGov, one of the world’s leading full-service market research companies, surveyed to understand the consumer sentiment and interest towards the availability of alcohol beverages through home delivery channel in Maharashtra. The extensive survey received around 2,000 responses from consumers across five states in the country. With a strong inclination towards purchasing alcohol beverages online, one in five respondents in Maharashtra indicate a major trend shift towards home delivery of alcohol, setting benchmarks for other states.

The survey findings brought to life the fact that 90% of consumers in Maharashtra have had a positive experience while purchasing alcoholic beverages online. In fact, in terms of an alcohol buying experience, the online mode outperforms other channels in Maharashtra. The survey further highlights that 61% of consumers in Maharashtra recognize the primary advantage of shopping online for alcohol due to the availability of more payment options. This sentiment is relatively higher than other states opening inroads for high-decibel opportunities in product innovation and premiumization.

From a state-to-state comparison perspective, Maharashtra has the highest percentage of consumers (62%) who order alcoholic beverages through existing home delivery channels. The numbers clearly show that consumers in Maharashtra want the government to continue to allow the home delivery channel for selling alcoholic beverages in their state, especially after the pandemic has highlighted the importance of social distancing. This data also highlights the state’s potential to further drive growth of the home delivery model in the AlcoBev sector while also paving the way for more states to follow this channel based on its success. Capitalizing on trends induced by the pandemic, Jharkhand became the first state in India to adopt the home delivery and/or e-commerce model of alcohol last year, followed by Odisha and West Bengal with the method showing promise.

The survey findings indicate that the Indian consumer and the alcohol beverage industry is waiting for policymakers to offer the ecosystem and the much-needed efficiency by adopting international best practices through a revolutionary shift towards e-commerce. Globally as well, the pandemic has catapulted the value of the home delivery and e-commerce channel for alcohol.

Survey Demographics:
2000 responses were received from five key states Haryana, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana. 70% of respondents were men, while 30% were women. YouGov’s online panel of 200,000 Indian panellists and all participants have validated citizens who had to be registered with YouGov to participate in this survey.

“There is utmost need to adopt technology in the agriculture segment and Drone technology will have an extremely important role in the future particularly in spraying pesticides,” Mr Agarwal said.

Usage of Drone in spraying pesticides will help in optimal usage of crop protection molecules, reduce the requirement of water and time for application. It will also reduce manpower requirements, thus helping in limiting exposure to hazardous chemicals, he said.

Whitehat Jr, the leading live one-on-one online learning platform with courses on coding, math, and music, will offer a Code with Minecraft course for students on its platform.

The collaboration is part of Microsoft and WhiteHat Jr’s joint vision to reimagine learning in India with technology to unlock new possibilities for learners and empower educators. Nagpur: Dr. Nitin Tiwari, Senior Consultant- Cardiology, Wockhardt Hospitals Nagpur has been awarded with prestigious Human Rights Award on the occasion of “World Human Rights Day”. The reputed award was given to him by National Human Rights Resources Development Association. Only five individuals from the country are given this honor every year. This makes Dr. Nitin Tiwari the only awardee in the state of Maharashtra.

The award has been given for his extraordinary contribution in the field of Interventional Cardiology and saving scores of life in his career of more than 20 years.

Dr. Tiwari was given this significant honor to also mark the contribution the doctor community has given in the field of medicine during this pandemic. “I feel highly obliged and thankful to the organization for being so thoughtful about our contributions”, said Dr. Nitin Tiwari.

“We are giving this award to Dr. Tiwari for saving valuable lives and contribute in making lives better”, said Dr. Anmol Tembhurne, National General Secretary, National Human Rights Resources Development Association, Nagpur.

Ans- The producers, the director and the team of artistes (have worked with them previously as well)

How did you prepare for the role?
Ans- It’s not only the lines written in the script; I try to read between the lines. The emotions, the situation and my inter-personal relations with other characters. When all fall in place the action begins.

If there is one thing you would like to change about your character in the show, what would it be?
Ans- As of now. Nothing

What was your first reaction when you were finalised for the show?
Ans- ‘Happy’. When its comedy I am always on. That’s what I love performing in it.

How do you’ll deal with creative differences on the set while shooting?
Ans- Discussions always works. Whenever I have any doubt or suggestion about the scene or dialogues, I always discuss it with the director and the creative team.

Pune Sets Its Sights on An All-Electric Vehicle Future

PUNE: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) in collaboration with RMI and RMI India hosted the first City Electric Vehicle (EV) Accelerator workshop to fast-track electric vehicle adoption in Pune.

During the workshop, the city government showcased ongoing electric mobility initiatives and encouraged key industry stakeholders to share their recommendations. Discussions covered topics such as charging infrastructure, urban freight, first and last-mile connectivity and governance & awareness campaigns. PMC shared its vision and roadmap for the newly established city EV cell, a first-of-its kind governing mechanism for EVs in the country.

Shri Aaditya Thackeray, Cabinet Minister Environment and Climate Change, Tourism and Protocol, Govt. of Maharashtra attended the event and reiterated the state’s climate agenda. He highlighted Maharashtra’s commitment to reducing transport sector emissions and hailed Pune’s leadership in translating ambition of the state’s EV policy into ground-level actions. “City EV Accelerator initiative will help Pune redefine and future proof its mobility system. Pune’s EV cell model will set an example for the rest of Maharashtra and should be replicated to meet the state’s EV targets for 2025,” said the Hon’ble Minister.

Also attending the workshop were stakeholders from the civic administration and representatives from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), charging infrastructure manufacturers and operators, fleet aggregators, start-ups, academia and civil society.

The workshop saw participation of senior leaders from the state including Additional Chief Secretary (Transport), Shri Ashish Kumar Singh. Shri Vikram Kumar, Municipal Commissioner, PMC and Dr Kunal Khemnar, Additional Municipal Commissioner, PMC, were present along with the members of the Pune EV Cell.

Shri Ashish Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary (Transport), Government of Maharashtra, said, “We are hoping that the incentives offered under the state EV policy can help Pune in leapfrogging towards an EV ready infrastructure and ecosystem.” Rapid deployment of EVs in Pune will be crucial for its pledge to the United Nations Climate Change Race to Zero Campaign and its 10-year carbon neutrality goal. Shri Vikram Kumar, Municipal Commissioner, Pune, during his remarks said, “Pune is among the first Indian

cities to operationalise an EV Cell to drive adoption of EVs. We are preparing an actionable city EV readiness plan and aim to implement projects over the next one year that will set Pune for mass uptake of EVs, thus reducing the air pollution and carbon emissions from fossil fuel based transportation systems.”

Ms Akshima Ghate, Senior Principal, RMI India, said, “RMI India is inspired by the progressive actions of the Maharashtra government. We are committed to support the clean mobility transition in Pune and look forward to working with more cities to develop new strategies to foster the EV ecosystem.” The City EV Accelerator platform will continue to engage stakeholders to address implementation challenges towards EV adoption.

FOGSI’s Manyata initiative ensures safe deliveries for 3138 women in Nagpur

Around 107 healthcare workers from 34 hospitals are undergoing training to deliver safe and respectful care to the expecting mothers

Nagpur: The Manyata and LaQshya – Manyata certification in Maharashtra by FOGSI is being given to 14 maternity facilities in Nagpur amid the COVID19 pandemic, which is impacting pregnant women severely. These facilities are among the 34 that have been trained and are undergoing training and assessment the city. This has ensured 3138 safe deliveries across the city. Some of the hospitals in Nagpur that have been certified by Manyata are Matru Sewa Sangh, Mahal Maternity Home, Harsha hospital in Dharampeth, Shrikhande Hospital in Dhantoli, Deshmukh Hospital in Surendra Nagar among others. In Maharashtra, the Public Health Department Government of Maharashtra (GoM) and FOGSI (Federation of Obstetric and Gynecological Societies of India) joined hands in 2019 to launch the LaQshya Manyata initiative. It was launched to enable and further build the capacity of private maternity-care providers in delivering quality maternity and new-born care.

LaQshya-Manyata adopts an innovative approach to cater to the diverse needs of private maternity facilities. Using skill drills and digital case-based learning, the program trains private maternity facilities on essential patient care, safety, and facility improvement components. The training modules are based on a set of 26 quality standards. LaQshya-Manyata is a giant leap forward in advancing maternal healthcare outcomes in Maharashtra. By addressing quality care in the private sector, the programme complements other public sector efforts towards building a holistic health system – so that no mother dies during childbirth.

Dr Chaitanya Shembekar, Chairman and MD of Omega Hospital, which is the Nagpur Centre for Skill Enhancement for Manyata, said, “Our hospital has successfully undergone the training and assessment to receive the Manyata certification and are very pleased to be a part of this family. We are also honored to have become the CSE in Nagpur; our hospital will be the center to provide training and conduct sessions with the registered hospitals. We currently have 19 hospitals from Nagpur registered for the training. I sincerely thank FOGSI and the GoM to have launched this initiative to bring about standardization in private maternity hospitals and raise the bar for quality maternal care in the state of Maharashtra.”

Dr Alka Mukherjee, Director, Mukherjee Multispeciality Hospital in Nagpur which has received the Manyata certification, said, “The LaQshya Manyata training, assessment and certification has really changed the way we offer treatment and service in our facility. Undergoing the training and assessment process was very enriching and transformational for our hospital. It is not an easy process to receive the certification, the staff and doctors really need to strive hard to adhere to the quality standards under the curriculum. I am happy to have received the training and certification which has refined the outlook of everyone at the hospital.”

Due to the COVID19 pandemic, the Manyata and LaQshya-Manyata initiative shifted its entire process of training and assessment to a digital model. The program implementation partners have been conducting virtual trainings as well as assessments to drive the initiative. Recently, LaQshya-Manyata has completed the assessments for over 100 facilities and reached a new milestone amidst the pandemic. Additionally, the LaQshya-Manyata initiative has expanded to 26 districts of Maharashtra.

Rajeev breaks all ties with Rishabh in Sony SAB’s Tera Yaar Hoon Main

Sony SAB’s Tera Yaar Hoon Main is at a crucial juncture with Rishabh (Ansh Sinha) and Barry (Viraj Kapoor) at loggerheads regarding Gargi (Tasneem Khan), leading to an unfortunate incident as Barry falls off the terrace. Rajeev (Ssudeep Sahir) and Daljeet’s (Sayantani Ghosh) marriage barely saw the break of dawn, and with this accident, their relationship will undergo a testing time.

Barry falls off the roof and severely injures himself, leaving the entire family worried. Everyone reaches a state of grave shock as they learn that this accident left Barry with partial memory loss and a critically injured leg. Rishabh feels guilty while Daljeet and Rajeev try to figure out how the accident conspired. Ansh Sinha essaying the role of Rishabh, said, “The experience of shooting this sequence was very challenging yet fulfilling because it gave me an opportunity to explore different facets of my character. Rishabh loves his father, Rajesh, and his equation with Barry was finally progressing. However, the relationship has hit rock bottom as Rishabh accidentally pushes Barry off the terrace, severely injuring him. Rishabh is guilty, and with the dynamics of relationships changing in the family, there are multiple emotions at play. India’s Harnaaz Sandhu Brings Home Miss Universe Crown After 21 Years

New Delhi: India’s Harnaaz Sandhu is the new Miss Universe, 21 years after Lara Dutta won the title in 2000.
Ms Sandhu represented India today at the 70th Miss Universe 2021, held in Eilat, Israel.

The 21-year-old from Punjab claimed the crown edging out Paraguay’s Nadia Ferreira and South Africa’s Lalela Mswane.

Ms Sandhu was presented the crown by Andrea Meza, former Miss Universe 2020 from Mexico.

Before the Chandigarh-based model, only two Indians have won the title of Miss Universe – actors Sushmita Sen in 1994 and Lara Dutta in 2000.

On being asked what advice she would give to young women on how to deal with the pressures they face, a composed Ms Sandhu said, “The biggest pressure the youth of today is facing is to believe in themselves, to know that you are unique and that’s what makes you beautiful. Stop comparing yourselves with others and let’s talk about more important things that’s happening worldwide.”

“This is what you need to understand. Come out, speak for yourselves because you are the leader of your life, you are the voice of your own. I believed in myself and that’s why I am standing here today,” Ms Sandhu said with aplomb.

Ms Sandhu, who started her journey in pageantry at the age of 17, has previously been crowned Miss Diva 2021, Femina Miss India Punjab 2019 and was even placed in the Top 12 at Femina Miss India 2019.

She has also worked in Punjabi films like “Yaara Diyan Poo Baran” and “Bai Ji Kuttange”.

Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery performed at Wockhardt hospitals, Nagpur Patient discharged within 12 hours of surgery

Nagpur: Quality of life of a 55 year old man took a turn in Wockhardt Hospitals, Nagpur after he walked into emergency department of Wockhardt hospital with a severe pain in lower back which was also felt in his left leg making him unable to even stand.

After investigations, the patient was diagnosed to have slipped disc. Dr. Rahul Zamad, Consultant- Spine and Neurosurgery, Wockhardt Hospital, Nagpur suggested the patient to undergo minimally invasive tubular spine surgery for removal of disc.

Patient was admitted and surgery was performed the same day with an incision of 2.5 cm only. Patient was absolutely pain free a few hours after the surgery. He was discharged in less than 24 hours of admission and approximately after 12 hours of surgery with a very small scar on his back.

“In general the aim of MIS surgery is to relieve the pressure being applied to the spinal cord and nerves and to stabilize the back bones which can be caused by herniated disc, degenerative disc disease, lumbar spinal stenosis, spinal infections and instability, spinal tumors, bony deformities in back. As compared to open surgery MIS can be faster, safer and has less recovery time”, informed Dr. Rahul Zamad.

Dr. Zamad also informed that potential benefits of this type of highly skilled surgery are:
• Better cosmetic results with smaller incision
• Reduced post operative pain
• Less blood loss
• Reduced muscle damage and faster recovery
• Reduced risk of infection
• Early return to work
Some of these surgeries can even be performed as a day care procedure. MISS uses tubular retractors which are used following a troscar which keeps the muscles out of the way to visualize the areas of interest and perform the procedure. Once the surgery is done the tubular retractors are removed.

There are also certain risk factors involved with MISS like with any other surgery like
Localised infection though less than open procedure
Conversion to open procedure in a very small no of cases.

Patient selection is very important for the procedure as MISS may not be as safe or effective as traditional procedure in some situations and certain surgeries may not be possible to be performed by MISS at all. If asked the doctor will be able to tell regarding the relative risks and benefits of the same.

112 kg youngster effectively treated of Covid

Obesity strong risk factor for severe Covid- Dr.Sushant Muley

Recently one obese 18 years old male resident of Gondegaon, Dist. Nagpur came to Orange City Hospital & Research Institute, Nagpur in critical condition with complaints of fever & cough since 1 week and difficulty in breathing since 1 day. He was admitted under care of Dr. Sushant Muley- Chest Physician. He had past history of travelling to Kolkata. On examination; he was febrile, Chest- crepitation and SPO2 was critically 85%. His weight was 112 kg. He was thoroughly investigated and found to have Covid-19 RTPCR positive. His investigations suggestive of CT Severity score 15/25 and high D-Dimer. In view of hypoxia and non-maintaining of oxygen level with high concentration mask, he was put on non-invasive ventilator support. Looking at his investigations and condition, Inj. Remdesivir and Inj. Tocilizumab was also given to him.

Dr. Sushant Muley- Chest Physician informed that, “This non vaccinated youngster was challenge to manage due to obesity, deranged blood parameters and severe chest infection at time of admission. Inspite of all challenges, we managed & treated him successfully. Recent evidence has shown that obesity weakens the immune system and therefore, making the host vulnerable to infectious diseases. Obesity has emerged as a strong risk factor for severe disease in the current pandemic disease, COVID-19. Several independent studies have demonstrated that obese subjects with COVID-19 have a higher risk of severe disease, hospitalization, and increased probability of death. At present, he is off ventilator support and maintaining oxygen saturation on room air and recuperating well.

Dr.Milind Pande- Pathologist, Dr.Nishikant Lokhande – Radiologist & their teams rendered diagnostic support. Dr. Sushant Muley was ably assisted by Clinical Assistants Dr. Aves Hasan, Dr. Kushal Narnawre, Dr. Nilesh Pidhekar and Dr. Akash Jaiswal while Sr. Sangeeta Ahirwar, Sr. Sheetal Chandekar and Sr. Shilpa provided diligent nursing care.

OCHRI was one of the city’s first private hospitals whose services was sought by Government for managing Covid cases. They had converted a complete building for Covid section. More than 950 indoor Covid patients have been successfully treated with a very low mortality rate till date.
