जामिनासाठी बोगस कागदपत्रे बनविणाऱ्या टोळीचा पर्दाफाश; जिल्हा न्यायालयासमोरच चालायचा प्रकार
Nagpur: In yet another atrocious incident against females, a 20-year-old tenant was booked by Lakadganj Police for allegedly filming a minor girl while taking a bath here, on Wednesday.
Based on the complaint lodged, cops have booked accused Abhiraj Ram Sharma under Sections 354(A), read with Section 12 of POCSO Act.
According to police sources, the 17-year-old victim had gone for a bath on Wednesday afternoon. At around 3 pm, she noticed a mobile phone recording her through the bathroom door. Acting swiftly, the girl raised the alarm. The accused Sharma used his cell phone to film the victim, police said.
Nagpur: E-bikes dealers in the city have claimed that buyers insist on modifying their electric vehicles to increase their speed limit. “Manufacturers too do modifications in e-bikes,” said dealers while admitting to the malpractices. They were in a meeting with officials of the regional transport office which has been detaining modified e-bikes.
Officiating RTO and deputy RTO Ravindra Bhuyar warned of action against dealers who alter e-bikes. “As per rules, RTO can levy Rs1 lakh fine on dealers and Rs 1 crore on manufacturers,” he said.
Representatives of around 30 dealers attended the meeting. Bhuyar gave them a week’s time to rectify the alterations done in e-bikes. “From June 1, a special drive will be launched,” Bhuyar told the dealers.
Bhuyar said as per the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, e-bikes with a battery capacity of less than 250 watts and a speed limit of 25 kmph are exempt from registration process including the motor vehicle taxes. But for this, the vehicles must have to be procured from government-appointed authorised agencies.
Also, it is necessary to get the ‘vehicle model test’ done from authorised testing agencies and obtain a ‘type approval test report’ of the bike for the exemption. But like other cities, flying squads of all three transport department offices — city, east and rural — have launched a special drive and detained around 30 e-bikes.
It has also came to fore that many e-bike dealers who are not authorised to sell battery operated two-wheelers with battery capacity of more than 250 watts were illegally selling them. “We found that several manufacturers through local dealers are illegally selling the e-bikes and later increasing the battery capacity of the bike and its range,” Bhuyar told TOI.
Earlier in the day, Bhuyar directed motor vehicles inspectors (IMVs) to submit their investigation reports on alterations in e-bikes. “It will help in taking action,” he said.
As per records, city RTO has registered 1,014 e-bikes — 1,913 in east and 642 in rural RTO. These e-bikes were sold by 35 RTO authorised dealers.

“I do not understand how people talk about inflation without reducing tax on petrol and diesel,” Fadnavis said taking a dig at the Uddhav Thackeray Government.
Nagpur: Maharashtra Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday accused theMVA Government in the State of not bringing down fuel prices from its end and claimed that while the State charges Rs 30 as Excise Duty on a litre of petrol, the Centre imposes Rs 19.
Taking a dig at the Uddhav Thackeray Government over reducing VAT on petrol and diesel, Fadnavis said that the State Government was making an April Fool of the people in May by making bogus reduction of VAT on fuel.
“This government has worked to increase inflation in Maharashtra. I do not understand how people talk about inflation without reducing tax on petrol and diesel,” Fadnavis, who reached Nagpur from Mumbai, said..
“First of all, Sharad Pawar should answer that the State tax on petrol and diesel in Maharashtra is Rs 29 and the Central tax is Rs 19. Why don’t they reduce the state tax?” the BJP leader questioned.
In an attempt to control retail inflation, the Union Government had reduced Excise Duty, resulting in a drop in retail petrol price by Rs 9.50 per litre and Rs 7 per litre in case of diesel. The BJP has since been mounting pressure on the State Government to slash state excise duty further to offer relief to consumers.
“After the Union Government introduced cuts on Excise Duty; the Central and State taxes on a litre of petrol stand at Rs 19 and Rs 30 respectively. Please tell me who is now behind the higher rates of petrol and diesel,” Fadnavis said. The BJP leader further claimed that though there has been a concern at the international level about inflation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the decision to reduce excise duty to offer some relief to the common man.
“The Centre did not touch the share of the State Government that earns from higher excise duties. The Centre will bear the loss of Rs 2.20 lakh crore annually from these cuts,” Fadnavis claimed.
The former Chief Minister also targeted the State Government over its failure to obtain a quota for the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in the local bodies election. “It is this government’s sin to have lost the reservation for the OBCs. Despite several demands, the Maha Vikas Aghadi Government did nothing between December 2019 and March 2022, which is why we lost the legal battle to protect the political quota for the OBCs in the Supreme Court.”

Nagpur: In a significant development, the Economic Offences Wing (EoW ) of Nagpur Rural Police has attached property worth Rs 105 crore including 119 acre agricultural land of a prime accused in a loan fraud case in which the accused had duped hundreds of gullible farmers by misusing their documents, a media report said.
The accused had fraudulently borrowed loans of Rs 5 lakh to Rs 50 lakh in the names of farmers and pocketed the money. Seven accused persons have been cooling their heels behind bars in jail for the last two years.
According to the report, the fraud came to fore when a group of farmers had filed complaints with the Jalalkheda Police Station in 2018, stating they have received notices for “defaulting” on loans worth Rs 40 lakh to Rs 50 lakh each from a public sector bank. However, the farmers claimed they have not taken any loan from the bank. The investigation of the case had unearthed major loan fraud by the accused persons in connivance with public sector bank officials and National Commodities Management Services Limited (NCML).
The police had arrested prime accused Rakesh Upendra Singh (44) and his wife Nutan Rakesh Singh (42), both residents of Welcome Nagar, Bokhara, Nagpur, Nilesh Sheshrao Dhopre (38), a resident of Sinjar village of Narkhed tehsil, Union Bank’s official Sandip Revnath Jagnale (34), a resident of Murmadi village in Bhandara district, NCML official Pawankumar Dhannaram Swami (38), a resident of Churu district of Rajasthan and Pravin Narayan Mondhe (47).
Informing about the modus operandi of the accused persons, the report stated that the accused Rakesh Singh owns warehouses in Kalmeshwar area. He tapped a farmer loan scheme by government banks to commit the fraud. As per the scheme, farmers are entitled to get a loan on the agricultural produce stored in the godowns or warehouses. A letter of NCML required for the loan from a public sector bank, the report said. Singh hatched the conspiracy in connivance with officials of NCML and banks. The accused Nilesh Dhopre was collecting 7-12 extract and Aadhar cards from farmers in the name of sanctioning a government scheme. Each farmer was getting Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 against the photocopy of the documents. Singh was misusing the documents to procure the loan of Rs 5 lakhs to Rs 50 lakh from Corporation Bank in the name of farmers by managing NCML and bank officials, police said.
The loan amount was credited to bank accounts of farmers and the accounts were handled by Singh only. The investigators have discovered 350 such bank accounts handled by Singh himself.
The fraud continued smoothly for two to three years and Singh had amassed huge wealth through the scam. He had purchased 119 acre of agricultural land and also set up a college. The money borrowed in the name of farmers was also returned by Singh within a year. However, he started defaulting instalments of the bank after rates of agriculture produced crashed in the market. Refuting allegations of interference in the functioning of the universities, Minister for Higher and Technical Education Uday Samant said that he will resign immediately if the charges are proved.
Some Vice-Chancellors, after their retirement, have levelled interference of government in university affairs. Samant said that the government has issued directions or made suggestions for improvement in the system. Have I contacted anyone for admission or a job to a son/daughter of a Shiv Sena leader?, he asked. However, for imparting quality education we will interfere, he added.
Samant was speaking during the inauguration of the Regional Centre of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technical University (BATU). Dr Karbhari Kale, VC of BATU; Dr Sanjay Dudhe, Pro-VC of RTMNU were present.
Samant said that the amendment in Maharashtra Public Universities Act has been submitted to the Chancellor for his consent.
Samant also stated that steps were taken to rejuvenate Ranade Institute and display paintings which were gathering dust at Pune University. Is this interference of the government? “I have never interfered in the functioning of any university body or committee. Even names of those in these bodies are not known to me”, he said. The student is the primary focus and efforts should be made to include all technical institutes under BATU.
Dr Kale gave information about the activities of BATU. Registrar Dr Jogi proposed a vote of thanks.
The regional centre of BATU has been inaugurated in LIT premises.
These 8 practical tips cover the basics of healthy eating and can help you make healthier choices.
The key to a healthy diet is to eat the right amount of calories for how active you are so you balance the energy you consume with the energy you use.
If you eat or drink more than your body needs, you’ll put on weight because the energy you do not use is stored as fat. If you eat and drink too little, you’ll lose weight.
You should also eat a wide range of foods to make sure you’re getting a balanced diet and your body is receiving all the nutrients it needs.
It’s recommended that men have around 2,500 calories a day (10,500 kilojoules). Women should have around 2,000 calories a day (8,400 kilojoules).
Most adults in the UK are eating more calories than they need and should eat fewer calories.
1. Base your meals on higher fibre starchy carbohydrates
Starchy carbohydrates should make up just over a third of the food you eat. They include potatoes, bread, rice, pasta and cereals.
Choose higher fibre or wholegrain varieties, such as wholewheat pasta, brown rice or potatoes with their skins on.
They contain more fibre than white or refined starchy carbohydrates and can help you feel full for longer.
Try to include at least 1 starchy food with each main meal. Some people think starchy foods are fattening, but gram for gram the carbohydrate they contain provides fewer than half the calories of fat.
Keep an eye on the fats you add when you’re cooking or serving these types of foods because that’s what increases the calorie content – for example, oil on chips, butter on bread and creamy sauces on pasta.
2. Eat lots of fruit and veg
It’s recommended that you eat at least 5 portions of a variety of fruit and veg every day. They can be fresh, frozen, canned, dried or juiced.
Getting your 5 A Day is easier than it sounds. Why not chop a banana over your breakfast cereal, or swap your usual mid-morning snack for a piece of fresh fruit?
A portion of fresh, canned or frozen fruit and vegetables is 80g. A portion of dried fruit (which should be kept to mealtimes) is 30g.
A 150ml glass of fruit juice, vegetable juice or smoothie also counts as 1 portion, but limit the amount you have to no more than 1 glass a day as these drinks are sugary and can damage your teeth.
3. Eat more fish, including a portion of oily fish
Aim to eat at least 2 portions of fish a week, including at least 1 portion of oily fish.
Oily fish are high in omega-3 fats, which may help prevent heart disease.
Oily fish include:
salmon
trout
herring
sardines
pilchards
mackerel
Non-oily fish include:
haddock
plaice
coley
cod
tuna
skate
hake
You can choose from fresh, frozen and canned, but remember that canned and smoked fish can be high in salt.
Most people should be eating more fish, but there are recommended limits for some types of fish.
4. Cut down on saturated fat and sugar
Saturated fat
You need some fat in your diet, but it’s important to pay attention to the amount and type of fat you’re eating.
There are 2 main types of fat: saturated and unsaturated. Too much saturated fat can increase the amount of cholesterol in the blood, which increases your risk of developing heart disease.
On average, men should have no more than 30g of saturated fat a day. On average, women should have no more than 20g of saturated fat a day.
Children under the age of 11 should have less saturated fat than adults, but a low-fat diet is not suitable for children under 5.
Saturated fat is found in many foods, such as:
fatty cuts of meat
sausages
butter
hard cheese
cream
cakes
biscuits
lard
pies
Try to cut down on your saturated fat intake and choose foods that contain unsaturated fats instead, such as vegetable oils and spreads, oily fish and avocados.
For a healthier choice, use a small amount of vegetable or olive oil, or reduced-fat spread instead of butter, lard or ghee.
When you’re having meat, choose lean cuts and cut off any visible fat.
All types of fat are high in energy, so they should only be eaten in small amounts.
Sugar
Regularly consuming foods and drinks high in sugar increases your risk of obesity and tooth decay.
Sugary foods and drinks are often high in energy (measured in kilojoules or calories), and if consumed too often can contribute to weight gain. They can also cause tooth decay, especially if eaten between meals.
Free sugars are any sugars added to foods or drinks, or found naturally in honey, syrups and unsweetened fruit juices and smoothies.
This is the type of sugar you should be cutting down on, rather than the sugar found in fruit and milk.
Many packaged foods and drinks contain surprisingly high amounts of free sugars.
Free sugars are found in many foods, such as:
sugary fizzy drinks
sugary breakfast cereals
cakes
biscuits
pastries and puddings
sweets and chocolate
alcoholic drinks
Food labels can help. Use them to check how much sugar foods contain.
More than 22.5g of total sugars per 100g means the food is high in sugar, while 5g of total sugars or less per 100g means the food is low in sugar.
5. Eat less salt: no more than 6g a day for adults
Eating too much salt can raise your blood pressure. People with high blood pressure are more likely to develop heart disease or have a stroke.
Even if you do not add salt to your food, you may still be eating too much.
About three-quarters of the salt you eat is already in the food when you buy it, such as breakfast cereals, soups, breads and sauces.
Use food labels to help you cut down. More than 1.5g of salt per 100g means the food is high in salt.
Adults and children aged 11 and over should eat no more than 6g of salt (about a teaspoonful) a day. Younger children should have even less.
6. Get active and be a healthy weight
As well as eating healthily, regular exercise may help reduce your risk of getting serious health conditions. It’s also important for your overall health and wellbeing.
Being overweight or obese can lead to health conditions, such as type 2 diabetes, certain cancers, heart disease and stroke. Being underweight could also affect your health.
Most adults need to lose weight by eating fewer calories.
If you’re trying to lose weight, aim to eat less and be more active. Eating a healthy, balanced diet can help you maintain a healthy weight.
Start the NHS weight loss plan, a 12-week weight loss guide that combines advice on healthier eating and physical activity.
If you’re underweight, see underweight adults. If you’re worried about your weight, ask your GP or a dietitian for advice.
7. Do not get thirsty
You need to drink plenty of fluids to stop you getting dehydrated. The government recommends drinking 6 to 8 glasses every day. This is in addition to the fluid you get from the food you eat.
All non-alcoholic drinks count, but water, lower fat milk and lower sugar drinks, including tea and coffee, are healthier choices.
Try to avoid sugary soft and fizzy drinks, as they’re high in calories. They’re also bad for your teeth.
Even unsweetened fruit juice and smoothies are high in free sugar.
Your combined total of drinks from fruit juice, vegetable juice and smoothies should not be more than 150ml a day, which is a small glass.
Remember to drink more fluids during hot weather or while exercising.
8. Do not skip breakfast
Some people skip breakfast because they think it’ll help them lose weight.
But a healthy breakfast high in fibre and low in fat, sugar and salt can form part of a balanced diet, and can help you get the nutrients you need for good health.
A wholegrain lower sugar cereal with semi-skimmed milk and fruit sliced over the top is a tasty and healthier breakfast.

Nagpur: Even as common people have been hassled due to high prices of petrol and diesel, the Shivsena Government in Maharashtra played a cruel joke on the citizens. The State Government on Sunday had announced that it had reduced VAT on petrol by Rs 2.08 per litre and on diesel by Rs 1.44 per litre.
According to reports, when vehicle owners went to petrol stations on Monday morning, they were in for a shock. The prices of fuel were the same as on Sunday. The reason was clear. The MVA Government had not reduced any tax on petrol and diesel, reports said.
The reports said that Maharashtra’s Value Added Tax (VAT) collection will reduce as a result of the Central Government cutting rates of fuel. The Centre has reduced the price of petrol by Rs 8 per litre. Maharashtra levies 26% VAT on petrol and hence its VAT collection will reduce by Rs 2.08 per litre. Similarly, Centre cut diesel price by Rs 6 per litre. The State levies 24% VAT on diesel, so its collection will be reduced by Rs 1.44 per litre. The Maharashtra Government levies 25% VAT on petrol outside Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and 23% on diesel so the price reduction in Nagpur is marginally less, reports said.
The price of petrol in Nagpur on Saturday was Rs 120.27 per litre which reduced to Rs 111.08 on Sunday. It was the same on Monday. Similarly, the price of diesel on Saturday was Rs 102.76 per litre which was reduced to Rs 95.69 on Sunday. But there was no cut on Monday. There was no reduction in the prices of petrol and diesel on Monday across Maharashtra.
The Leader of Opposition in State Assembly Devendra Fadnavis blasted the MVA Government for this deceit and demanded the State Government to actually reduce VAT to bring down the price of petrol below Rs 100 per litre and diesel below Rs 90 per litre. “The MVA Government has not reduced tax on fuel by a single penny but asking the Central Government to further reduce tax. This government has no concern for the poor,” Fadnavis lamented.

Sony SAB’s Madam Sir will see a new SHO joining the fray, as the DSP delegates a male officer to the MPT for the first time. While our favorite female officers SHO Haseena Malik (Gulki Joshi), Inspector Karishma Singh (Yukti Kapoor), Santosh (Bhavika Sharma), and Constable Pushpa Singh (Sonali Naik) have been successfully using their wit and jazbaat in solving cases, putting out fires and getting the crime rate down, viewers can now expect fireworks at the MPT with the new male SHO Amar Vidrohi (Savi Thakur) and his team joining them.
Projecting to have it all figured out and here to put things right in his own way, SHO Amar is a seasoned cop, with a keen sense of justice, while putting criminals behind bars. Rumor has it that every precinct delegated to him eventually became a ‘Ramrajya,’ with criminals surrendering out of sheer fear.
Haseena, who has been heading the Mahila Police Thana since inception, is clearly irked that the introduction of a new SHO would shake things up, resulting in new equations and new problems that come with it. Amid the changing dynamics, one thing is certain: SHO Amar Vidrohi is likely to cause a stir at the Police Station, and his presence will multiply the drama quotient as the entire team gathers to solve the bizarre cases.
How will things shape up for the MPT? Will Haseena remain in command?
Savi Thakur, who essays the role of Amar Vidrohi says, “I’m thrilled to be joining the cast of Maddam Sir and becoming a member of the Sony SAB family. I was intrigued by Amar Vidrohi’s character, and as the show progresses, it has the potential to grow while adding value to the storyline of the show. I share similar character traits to that of SHO Amar, along with our extreme respect for women, knowing well that the show inspires young girls to dream big and work hard to make their dreams come true. Madam Sir is not another typical cop show; it’s an adventure with action and emotion, and my character is here to shake things up at the MPT. And I know viewers will stay tuned as we double on its entertainment quotient. “
Tune in to Maddam Sir, Mon-Sat, 10 PM only on Sony SAB!
