Sending too many ‘Good Morning’ messages on WhatsApp? You could get banned for it

WhatsApp bans 26 lakh bad accounts in India as amended IT rules take shape

Sending too many ‘Good Morning’ texts on WhatsApp can get you banned. No, this is not click bait. You can actually get banned for doing that. WhatsApp can count it as spam and the app does take down accounts that demonstrate abnormal activities like even forwarding unverified information. These activities are quite prevalent on the messaging application and that is one reason why WhatsApp bans Indian accounts in the millions every month.

What exactly can get you banned on WhatsApp?

While not meaning any ill will, WhatsApp users could end up being on the banned list due
to various reasons. You could be unknowingly spamming your contacts, forwarding
unverified information or overusing WhatsApp’s broadcast lists. These activities violate the company’s Terms of Service, especially if it involves spam, scams or puts WhatsApp users’ safety at risk. According to WhatsApp’s monthly user safety report, over 2.3 million Indian accounts were banned in the month of August alone.

How does WhatsApp decide which account to ban?

WhatsApp claims that it deploys a combination of security measures and processes to help keep users safe on the platform. To do that it applies spam detection technology to spot and take action on accounts engaging in abnormal activities to stop spam. Since the volume of messages is extremely high, it is not possible for a human moderator to keep tabs on the messages that are violating the company’s terms of service. That’s the reason the process is automated.

How to make sure you don’t get banned by WhatsApp?

Forwarding messages: WhatsApp asks its users to check and recheck before forwarding messages. The app has a label for all forwarded messages and limits the number of times you can forward messages as a way to encourage users to reconsider before sharing. If you aren’t sure whether something’s true or don’t know the source of the message, don’t forward it.

Broadcast messaging: WhatsApp asks its users to avoid automated or bulk messages or auto-dial using WhatsApp. WhatsApp uses both machine learning technology and reports from users to detect and ban accounts that send unwanted automated messages. Over-using broadcast lists could also lead to a ban. The feature works only when users have added your phone number to their contact list. Frequent use of broadcast messages may lead people to report your messages, and WhatsApp will ban accounts that are reported multiple times.

Adding people to WhatsApp Groups: WhatsApp suggests that you should get permission from contacts before you add them to a group. If you add someone to a group and they remove themselves, honour their decision. WhatsApp claims that if a contact asks you to stop messaging them, you should remove the contact from your address book and refrain from contacting them again.

Communicate with known contacts: Only send messages to those who have contacted you first or have requested you to contact them on WhatsApp.

Don’t Violate WhatsApp’s Terms of Services: Keep in mind that the reason for an account ban is a violation of WhatsApp’s Terms of Services which includes publishing falsehoods and engaging in illegal, defamatory, intimidating, harassing behavior, among others. For more information or examples of activities that violate WhatsApp’s Terms of Service, you can review the “Acceptable Use of Our Services” section of the Terms of Service.

What to do if your account gets banned by mistake?

-If you find that your account is blocked by WhatsApp, you can take the following steps to resolve the situation:

-Email WhatsApp or tap request a review in the app, WhatsApp will look into your case and get back to you as soon as they complete the review.

-When you request a review in the app, you’ll be prompted to enter a 6-digit registration code sent to you via SMS.

-Once you’ve entered it, you’ll be able to submit your request for a review and add details to support your case.

Nagpur: In an incident reported from Jayanti Nagari 2, Besa, a woman in her 40s was allegedly constantly harassed by the society board members. In a statement, she claimed that the pipelines which were connected to her bathrooms were destroyed and after complaining she started receiving several threats from the society members.

When she approached the Gram Panchayat to report the problem, the Gram Panchayat chief refused to send a legal notice to the builder and claimed that he doesn’t receive taxes from her. The incident did not stop here.

After constant threats and torture by the society members and Gram Panchayat head, the 40-year-old decided to approach Nagpur Police, but her complaints went in vain. She alleged that when complained, Beltarodi Senior PI Yadav and PI Sandeep Buwa tortured her and threatened her not to file a complaint against the society members and builders. The Police also threatened to put her in jail or mental asylum if she goes ahead with her decision of filing a complaint.

The resident of Jayanti Nagari 2 further alleged that while questioning, the police used abusive and derogatory language and forced her to change her mind. When filing an FIR, she was not allowed to mention all the names of the accused, she claimed.

When asked about the same to Senior PI Rakesh Yadav, he said that a policeman can never refuse to file a complaint and the allegations levelled against the officers are not valid.

A unique love story of a captor and his hostage, MX Player drops its new show Tu Zakhm Hai

Set against the backdrop of high society and the Delhi crime world, MX Player drops episodes of its thrilling new long format series: Tu Zakhm Hai – an MX Serial.

This pacy story highlights the life of Viraj Trehan (Gashmeer Mahajani) – a Hawala King who runs his illegal operations with an iron fist while hiding behind the facade of a real estate mogul.

They say opposites attract but nobody would’ve imagined the fiercely independent and strong Kavya Grewal (Donal Bisht), cross paths with the prince of white crime – Viraj Trehan, changing life as they knew it.

Circumstances lead Viraj to hold Kavya hostage as a special guest – caged in his dark embrace while love finds mysterious ways to bloom in this otherwise hopeless situation.

But when two diametrically different worlds collide, there are consequences beyond imagination.

Will Viraj be able to straighten his present and blur his past? Will Kavya work through her emotions and accept what’s truly in her heart? Will Kavya and Viraj find common ground that will allow them to coexist in love?

Talking about his character and this series, Gashmeer Mahajani said, This is such an exciting phase in my career, I truly consider myself fortunate to be able to dabble in the world of TV and now on OTT with Tu Zakhm Hai.

Playing Viraj was like being on an emotional rollercoaster, he might be considered a white-collar criminal, but he has so many shades – angry, dominant, loyal yet vulnerable, hes been the most challenging character Ive ever played Passionate to a fault, decisive and empathetic, Kavya Grewal – a clinical psychologist, is played by Donal Bisht.

Talking about the show, she said, Im so excited to be a part of a project that is so very different – be it the concept of a dark romance which sees so many unexpected twists and turns or be it the fact that its a long format show on an OTT platform with such a wide audience reach.

Tech giant Google has announced that Meet calls can now be transcribed into text, and users can further save them in a Google Doc format. According to Android Central, the saved file can be accessed from Google Drive.

Google Meet is one of the most popular apps, especially after replacing the Google Duo app for iOS and Android devices. However, Google has stated the new feature that can be accessed in Google Meet for desktop or laptop clients and is available only for the English language.

Google said the transcribed file can be stored in the same “Meeting Recordings” folder of the Google Meet app from the accompanying Google Drive storage.

Before joining the Google Meet call, attendees will be notified that the call is transcribed. These transcripts are intended to capture the meeting’s discussion, serves as a record, and is helpful as a follow-up to attendees or host if they want to recall a particular segment or point in the whole discussion.

Another nifty feature is that the “transcript will automatically be attached to the associated calendar invite for the meeting”. And for meetings involving more than 200 attendees, the transcribed file will be shared with meeting organisers, hosts, co-hosts, and individual users who initiated a transcription.

The new feature is expected to roll out starting October 24. It will be available to Google Workspace Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Starter, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Plus, and the Teaching and Learning Upgrade customers.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has reportedly made some big changes to rules regarding ‘playing conditions’ for ‘Covid-positive players’ in the Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

As per latest ICC playing conditions, players will be allowed to play even after testing positive for Coronavirus if cleared by the team doctor, cricket.com.au reported. Also, the team can replace a Covid-positive player in case he doesn’t get the required mandatory clearance from team doctor.

As per the report, if a player tests Coronavirus positive, there won’t be any regular testing for him during the tournament nor will he have to be in isolation. Earlier, a Covid-positive player had to take several Covid tests and was asked to isolate. ICC most likely made changes to rules regarding ‘playing conditions’ as rapid vaccination programs across the world has helped in improving Covid-19 situation.

During the Women’s T20 International final between India and Australia at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham, Australian women cricketer Tahlia McGrath was allowed to play by the ICC despite testing Covid positive ahead of the match. Organizers in UK dealt with the situation on a case-by-case basis during the event. McGrath was seen sitting separately from rest of her teammates with a mask on. But she later celebrated Australia’s historic Gold medal win with the entire team. Fans might witness a similar thing during T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

Talking about India’s schedule in the T20 World Cup 2022, the Men in Blue will play its first match against Pakistan on 23rd October. Before match against PAK, India will play two warm-up matches, first against Australia on October 17 at Gabba Stadium in Brisbane and second against New Zealand on October 19.

New Omicron variants XBB, BM.1.1 found in Nagpur, Vidarbha: Report

New Omicron variants XBB, BM.1.1 found in Nagpur, Vidarbha: Report

Nagpur: The recently published genomic surveillance report by the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) has found 12 new variants of Omicron lineage in samples from Vidarbha districts — including Nagpur — and Tamil Nadu, a report in a local Times of India daily said.

According to the report, Omicron sub-lineage XBB has been detected in four samples and XBB.1 in one sample. The study led by scientist Krishna Khairnar studied 88 samples submitted to the lab between September 12 and October 8 from the two regions. Over 850 Covid-positive samples were processed for the study. However, 60 from Tamil Nadu and 28 from Vidarbha districts qualified for the 30th series of whole genome sequencing at NEERI, the report added.

The ToI report further said that though 12 new variants have surfaced, BA.2.75.2 continues to be dominant despite its falling percentage-wise share. The variant is now at 22.7%. The sub-lineage BA.2.75.2 had grown to 85% in September after starting to replace the BA.2 early this year. Among the newly identified variants, BM.1.1 has emerged as the dominant strain with 11 samples testing positive for it out of the 88. It has evoked similar interest

among the surveillance authorities as the XBB variant.

Among asymptomatic cases, BM.1.1 is at over 13%, which calls for a close monitoring of the variant. Officials said though Covid cases are at an all-time low and not causing much hospitalisation, the emergence of new variants must be taken seriously.

The XBB variant too is more infectious thus far and has been behind the surge in parts of South Asia, especially Singapore and Hong Kong.

The NEERI lab has completed a genome study of 2,349 Covid-positive samples for January 1 to October 13, the report said.

Whatsapp is testing new feature to allow edit messages after sending

WhatsApp bans 26 lakh bad accounts in India as amended IT rules take shape

WhatsApp is following in the footsteps of Apple, and the company may soon allow you to edit messages after they have been sent.

WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging platforms in the world, competing with apps such as Telegram, Signal, and others. Millions of users use the Facebook owned app for daily communication, and the company adds new features on a regular basis to accommodate the large audience.

It appears that we will soon see yet another new feature that users have been requesting for quite some time. WhatApp users may soon be able to edit messages they have sent. With the iOS 16 update, Apple added a similar feature for iMessage users.

WhatsApp has released a new beta update for Android smartphone users via the Google Play Store, which includes a mention of the new feature. According to the screenshot included in the update, a new ‘edited’ label will be visible in the chat bubble of the message that the sender has edited.

WhatsApp users will have 15 minutes after sending the message to edit it. WhatsApp has not yet officially revealed anything about the upcoming feature, but references in the beta update suggest that we may be able to use the beta update in the next update.

WhatsApp usually tests new features in stages, and sometimes one platform gets a feature before another. Aside from that, WhatsApp recently added the ability to detect links within status update captions.

Launch of Toyota’s first of its kind pilot project on Flexi-Fuel Strong Hybrid Electric Vehicles (FFV-SHEV) in India

We, at Toyota, are fully committed towards sustainability and protecting the environment in line with our principle of ‘Respect for the Planet’. Towards this, in 2015, Toyota announced its global environmental challenge 2050, which seeks to contribute towards establishing a ‘future-proofed’ sustainable society that is in harmony with nature. Under this ambition, Toyota has set for itself six challenges, the first three of which includes goals towards achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 throughout the entire lifecycle of our products.  Thereby, we not only aim to address the impact of the vehicles that we sell, but also to cover our entire value-chain including manufacturing activities. In that sense, we aspire to go beyond the tailpipe emissions, and take a more holistic and society focused approach in our sustainable interventions.

There are many green energy pathways in electrification and alternate fuels that can help the transportation sector lower its dependence on fossil fuels, along with reducing its carbon footprint. Toyota has developed all clean technologies and believes in introducing these based on each country’s unique requirements and context, so as to minimize fossil fuel usage and achieve carbon reduction in the fastest possible time. Towards this direction, given India’s energy mix, its unique consumer profile and needs, infrastructure readiness, and the Government’s diversified efforts towards becoming ‘Atma Nirbhar’ in energy by 2047, we are advancing solutions with greater agility, thereby introducing and supporting multiple clean technology pathways.

Launch of Toyota’s first of its kind pilot project on Flexi-Fuel Strong Hybrid Electric Vehicles (FFV-SHEV) in India

As one of the most appropriate solutions, ethanol holds tremendous potential for India as it is an Indigenous and clean energy source, that can significantly reduce fossil fuel consumption, the energy import bill and carbon emissions. Being agriculture based, higher use of ethanol as fuel will also increase farmer incomes and create new jobs, thereby boosting the rural economy besides increasing revenue for the Government from surplus sugar and food grains. The Government has recently launched second-generation technologies for producing ethanol from agricultural residues like parali, which is currently otherwise burnt. This possibility will not only prevent severe air pollution but also help generate wealth from waste.

India has already achieved 10% ethanol blending five months ahead of schedule. The implementation of 20% ethanol blending in petrol by 2025-26 is expected to substitute 86 million barrels of Gasoline, thereby leading to forex savings of Rs. 30,000 crores for India, as well as reducing 10 Million tons of carbon emissions. Given the huge potential of ethanol production that exists up to and beyond E20, these benefits can increase multi-fold with the introduction of Flexi Fuel Vehicle (FFV) technology, that can flexibly use higher ethanol blends from 20% to 85%.

Globally, many countries like Brazil have hugely benefited from large scale introduction of FFVs. In fact, in Brazil an innovative Flexi fuel-strong Hybrid electric vehicle technology (FFV – SHEV) has been introduced by Toyota Brazil, which has the lowest Well-to-Wheel (W2W) carbon emissions for any technology in the country. An FFV– SHEV has a Flexi Fuel engine and an electric powertrain, thus providing dual benefit of higher ethanol use and greater fuel efficiency, as it can run for significant time periods on its EV mode, wherein the engine is shut off. The FFV-SHEV has much higher economic multiplier benefits, as it can hasten local manufacturing of electric and flexi-fuel powertrain parts, thus providing a disruption free & low risk industry and energy transition. As this technology provides the opportunity to benefit from both electrification and bio-fuel energy pathways, it enables a faster reduction of fossil fuel consumption, CO2 emissions, as well as boosting the agrarian economy.

In this background, Toyota today launched the pilot project on Flexi-Fuel Strong Hybrid Electric Vehicle Technology in Delhi. The Company was highly motivated and truly grateful for the gracious presence and strong support of Hon’ble Shri. Nitin Jairam Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Hon’ble Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, Union Minister of Heavy Industries, Hon’ble Shri. Bhupinder Yadav, Union Minister of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change and Hon’ble Shri. Rameswar Teli, Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas – Government of Delhi, at this important occasion, which was also witnessed by other key government dignitaries, high-ranking diplomats, industry leaders, academia along with senior executives of Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Mr Masakazu Yoshimura, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Vikram S Kirloskar – Vice Chairman, Mr. Vikram Gulati – Executive Vice President and Mr. Sudeep S. Dalvi – Senior Vice President and Chief Communication Officer.

During the launch, the Toyota Corolla Altis FFV-SHEV, that has been imported from Toyota Brazil for the pilot project was unveiled. This initiative marks Toyota’s first step to promote and create awareness on Ethanol as an important indigenous, carbon neutral energy pathway, along with the advanced Strong Hybrid Electric Vehicle technology of Toyota that can help India achieve true self-reliance, and contribute towards the national target of Carbon Net-Zero by 2070. Further, as a part of this project, collected data will be shared with the prestigious Indian Institute of Science, for conducting a deeper study about the well-to-wheel carbon emissions of FFV / FFV-SHEV in the Indian context. In this regard, a Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) and the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

Being a pioneer in electrified technology and as a responsible corporate citizen, TKM will continue its relentless efforts and contribute to future innovations by sharing sustainable technological advancements in the green mobility space.

According to police, the complainant doctor came in contact with Parse through a relative. The doctor told Parse that he wanted to start a homoeopathy college. Parse told the doctor that he was having close contacts in the office of Prime Minister to get the permission. Also, he lured the doctor to get funds under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Soon after, Parse created a fake email ID in the name of the PMO office and sent an email to the doctor that funds have been released. He took Rs 25 lakh from the doctor. A team of the Crime Branch raided the house of Parse and seized police station stamps along with four laptops, letterhead bearing names of various ministers, documents related to the case and cheques, were also seized from his residence.

China: Lockdown imposed in Fenyang after Covid cases skyrocket

China: Lockdown imposed in Fenyang after Covid cases skyrocket
China: Lockdown imposed in Fenyang after Covid cases skyrocket

China lockdown: Chinese cities were imposing fresh lockdowns and travel restrictions after the number of new daily COVID-19 cases tripled during a weeklong holiday, ahead of a major Communist Party meeting in Beijing next week.

The latest lockdown started on Monday in Fenyang city in northern China’s Shanxi province after a preliminary positive case was found in citywide testing the previous day, state broadcaster CCTV reported.

In the nearby Inner Mongolia region, the capital Hohhot announced that outside vehicles and passengers would be prohibited from entering the city starting on Tuesday. Hohhot has recorded more than 2,000 cases over about 12 days.

China is one of the few places in the world still resorting to harsh measures to keep the disease from spreading.

The long-ruling Communist Party is particularly concerned as it tries to present a positive image of the nation in the run-up to a once-in-five-years party congress that starts on Sunday.

Travel was down during an annual National Day holiday that began October 1, as authorities discouraged people from leaving their cities and provinces. But the number of new daily cases has still grown to about 1,800 from 600 at start of the break.

Leaders don’t want a major outbreak to cast a pall over the congress, but their strict “zero-COVID? approach has taken an economic toll, particularly on small businesses and temporary workers. Many in China hope the pandemic policy will ease after the meeting.

Outbreaks have been reported across the country, with the largest in Inner Mongolia and the far-west Xinjiang region. Both have been recording several hundred new cases a day.

Both Shanghai, where residents endured prolonged lockdowns earlier this year, and the national capital Beijing have had a small but growing number of cases. Two Shanghai districts announced closures of cinemas and other entertainment venues last week.

Lining up for a free virus test several times a week has become the norm for many Chinese, with Beijing and other cities requiring a negative test result within 72 hours to enter parks, office buildings, shops and other public places.
