मुंबई – सोमवारी मलाड वेस्टमध्ये माइंडस्पेसजवळ झुडपांमध्ये एका ट्रॅव्हल बॅगमध्ये आढळलेल्या 20 वर्षीय तरुणीच्या मृतदेहाचे रहस्य पोलिसांनी अवघ्या 4 तासांतच उलगडले आहे. हा मृतदेह मॉडेल मानसी दीक्षितचा आहे. मानसीच्या हत्येच्या आरोपात पोलिसांनी तिच्या एका मित्राला अटक केली आहे.
बांगूरनगर पोलिसांच्या मते, मिल्लतनगरातील रहिवासी मुजम्मिल सईद (20) नावाच्या एका व्यक्तीला पोलिसांनी अटक केली आहे. मुजम्मिलने आपला गुन्हा कबूल केला आहे. त्यने सांगितले की, घटनेच्या वेळी मानसी त्याच्या फ्लॅटमध्येच होती. दोघांमध्ये काही गोष्टींवरून वाद झाला आणि चुकून त्याने मानसीच्या डोक्यावर स्टूल मारला, यामुळे अनवधानाने मानसीचा मृत्यू झाला.
मानसी दीक्षित राजस्थानच्या कोटातील रहिवासी होती आणि मागच्या 6 महिन्यांपासून अंधेरीत राहत होती. पोलिसांनी सांगितले की, सईद आणि मानसीमध्ये एका कॉमन मित्राच्या माध्यमातून मैत्री झाली होती.
पोलिसांनी सांगितले की, त्यांना सुटकेसची माहिती मिळताच ते घटनास्थळी पोहोचले. बॅगमध्ये एका महिलेचा मृतदेह होता, तिच्या डोक्यावर जखम होती. तिची डेडबॉडी कुशन आणि बेडशीटने कव्हर करण्यात आली होती. पोलिसांनी सांगितले की, त्यांनी याप्रकरणी चौकशी सुरू केली आहे. तथापि, सीसीटीव्ही फुटेजमध्ये त्यांना एक कार सापडली, ज्यात आत बसलेल्या एका व्यक्तीने रस्त्याच्या किनारी सूटकेस फेकलेली होती. याच आधारावर पोलिसांनी आरोपीची ओळख पटवली आणि त्याच्या इमारतीतून त्याला भादंवि कलम 302 आणि 201 नुसार अटक केली.
Paul Allen, who with Bill Gates founded Microsoft, has died at the age of 65. His death comes shortly after he resumed treatment for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma; the cancer had returned after being in remission for nine years.
Allen was a Seattle native and went to high school with Gates. The two kept in touch at university—Allen at Washington State, Gates at Harvard—and when Allen dropped out in 1975 to start a company to develop software for the MITS Altair 8800, he soon convinced Gates to follow. That company was Micro-Soft, which shed its hyphen the following year. In 1980, Microsoft was chosen by IBM to develop DOS for its new PC. With the success of the PC and PC compatibles, Microsoft became hugely successful.
Allen had his first run-in with cancer in 1982, when he was diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma and drastically cut back his work at the company while recovering. He formally left Microsoft in 1983, but he retained his share of ownership and became a billionaire when the company went public in 1986.
With this newfound wealth he created his own investment firm, Vulcan Inc. One funding priority has been space; he helped fund the Allen Telescope Array in California, and in 2011 he created Stratolaunch, a space company that wants to launch rockets from a giant airplane. Local sports were also a priority; Allen bought the Seattle Seahawks NFL team in 1996 to prevent it from being moved to California, and he was a minority owner of the Seattle Sounders MLS team.
Beyond this, he invested hundreds of millions of dollars to research disease, artificial intelligence, and bioscience. He also contributed substantial funding to organizations working to fight the 2013-2016 Ebola epidemic in West Africa. He established the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle, along with a number of other institutions to showcase his collection of art, aircraft, computers, and memorabilia.
When not working, Allen was by all accounts a talented guitarist and released a blues rock album in 2013. He also had an interest in undersea exploration and was involved in locating of a number of lost planes and ships.
Nagpur : A 19-year-old engineering student committed suicide on Sunday by hanging himself with his sister’s scarf from the ceiling fan in his room.
In a two-page suicide note, Saurabh Nagpurkar wrote that he felt “beckoned by the soul of a boy” whom he had seen dying in a road accident last month.
He also asked his parents for forgiveness and urged his sister to take care of them. The family was inconsolable after his remains reached the home after the autopsy.
In the note, he mentioned how he felt haunted after he witnessed the accident. He also talked about visions and sounds that had been recurring to him.
His family members confirmed that Saurabh had witnessed accidents last month involving a woman and a child.
The note revealed how the teenager had been spooked ever since he witnessed the accident. He wrote about how he was “summoned by the soul of the boy” whom he had seen dying in an accident about a month ago on Umrer Road. He had apparently seen another accident involving a woman.
Known to be empathetic, Saurabh had celebrated the September birthdays at an orphanage with his friends recently. He had been appealing his friends to celebrate birthday with those who “needed happiness more than him”.

Nagpur : Dr. Sunil Dixit, is a practicing anaesthesiologist at Chandrapur since last 26 yrs. Belonging to 1984 batch, he completed his graduation and post-graduation from Indira Gandhi Government Medical College, Nagpur. MUMBAI: A Maharashtra minister said Sunday that the BJP-led government had decided to allow online sale and home delivery of liquor in the state, but later stated that only a proposal in this regard had been received. “We want to curb the instances of drunken driving. Allowing home delivery of liquor will help in this,” Excise Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule told Sunday morning, without elaborating as to when the decision would come into effect.
However, apparently fearing backlash over the announcement from opposition parties and anti-liquor activists, the minister later said that only a proposal had been received. “We have a received an application requesting framing of a policy for purchase of liquor online from home. However, the government has not thought about it, nor there has been any policy (framed),” Mr Bawankule told reporters in Nagpur.
He also said that his department recently took action against 35 liquor shops in the state for providing foreign liquor at customers’ doorstep by taking orders through certain WhatsApp groups.
Earlier, a senior official in the excise department had told that increasing the revenue was also a prime objective behind the decision to allow online sale of liquor. The government is losing sizable excise tax due to closure of around 3,000 liquor outlets located near the highways owing to the Supreme Court’s order, he said. Also, the reduction in prices of petrol and diesel earlier this month has caused some strain on the state’s treasury, the official had added.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni has refused to play Jharkhand’s Vijay Hazare Trophy quarter-finals against Maharashtra despite the national selection committee chairman MSK Prasad’s public announcement of him playing the game.
Dhoni, who has been in poor form for India over the last couple of months, was expected to play the game at the M. Chinnaswamy in Bengaluru but Jharkhand coach Rajiv Kumar told reporters that MSD has declined to play the game because he feels it is unfair to join the team and affect the team balance.
“Dhoni feels that it would not be fair for him to join us at this stage, given that the team has done so well and reached the quarter-final stage in his absence. He does not want to upset the team balance,” Jharkhand coach Kumar said.
New Delhi: Instant messaging app WhatsApp is testing a new feature called that will set the time or duration for the “Delete for Everyone” feature.
According to WABetaInfo, a fan site that tests new WhatsApp features early, says that the messaging platform is soon going to rollout a new feature on the existing ‘delete message for everyone’ wherein if the recipient does not receive the delete request for the message in 13 hours, 8 minutes, and 16 seconds then the message will not be deleted.
Take for instance, you sent a message to your friend and now you want to use the ‘delete for everyone’ option. In this case you will have to delete the sent message within the above mentioned time. If you want to delete the message later than that, you might not be able to do so.
Last year, WhatsApp officially rolled out the ‘Delete for Everyone’ that allowed its users to revoke their messages in case they sent those to a wrong person or a group. Messages you successfully delete for everyone are being be replaced with “This message was deleted” in your recipients’ chats. Similarly, if you see “This message was deleted” in a chat, it means that the sender deleted their message for everyone.
Maharashtra Government has sanctioned Town Planning Scheme (TPS) for ‘Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City’ to develop four major backward areas of East Nagpur at par with Civil Lines. Urban Development Department has recently issued a gazette notification of TPS to assure a better, livable life for the residents and to develop the existing backward areas into new ‘planned and smart’ ones. The ‘smart’ city will have its special Development Control Rules (DCR) for the development.
Dr Ramnath Sonwane, Chief Executive Officer of Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Limited (NSSDCL), confirmed that Urban Development Department had recently sanctioned TPS for ‘smart’ city. “We have proposed land pooling system. Therefore, we do not require land acquisition for the project,” he added.
Mumbai : An Air India air hostess fell off a Mumbai-Delhi flight on Monday morning during boarding process at Mumbai airport.
The incident took place when the flight AI864 was being readied for its scheduled departure around 7 am.
“During boarding the passengers, she went to open the L5 door of the Boeing 777 to allow the step ladder to align with the door. There was a gap and in the process of opening the door, she slipped and fell onto the tarmac,” said an Air India official.
She has been admitted to Mumbai’s Nanavati hospital.

तब्बल २३ दिवसांपासून वाघिणीच्या संदर्भात सुरू असलेल्या या वैध-अवैध प्रयोगांची दखल आता आंतरराष्ट्रीय पातळीवरही घेण्यात आली आहे. इंग्लंडमधील डॅन रिचर्डसन यांनी थेट प्रक्षेपणाद्वारे, मौल्यवान वाघीण आणि तिच्या बछडे धोकादायक स्थितीत असून त्यांना वाचवा म्हणून आवाहन केले आहे. त्यासाठी त्यांनी सह्यंची मोहीम देखील राबवली.
Nagpur: In a bid to set new Guinness World Record, chef Vishnu Manohar prepared 3000 kilograms of Khichdi in one vessel in Nagpur on Sunday, ahead of the World Food Day on October 16. Chef Manohar said, “I have tried for the world record; the emotion behind it is that I want Khichdi to be declared as the national dish because people eat khichdi at every stage. It is the most healthy and affordable meal.”
The ingredients used in the making of this dish were 275 kgs of rice, 125 kgs of moong dal (lentils), 150 kgs of chana dal (pulses), 3000 litres of water, and 150 kgs of ghee. Union Minister for Road Transportation and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, graced the event and congratulated Manohar for his attempt.
“He is a celebrated chef, and I congratulate him for his record. He is making Indian dish famous worldwide, and thank him for this. He is done great work. The khichdi he made was masala khichdi, and it was very delicious,” he told reporters here. In November last year, India entered the Guinness Book of World Records for making the ‘largest serving of rice and beans’ after preparing 918 kgs of Khichdi in New Delhi. The khichdi then was prepared by celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor.

मुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस यांनी नवरात्रोत्सवानिमित्त सार्वजनिक मंडळाने बसविलेल्या विविध मंडळांना भेट दिली. तसेच श्री मातेची आरती केली. यावेळी पालकमंत्री चंद्रशेखर बावनकुळे, आमदार सुधाकर कोहळे, कृष्णा खोपडे, महाराष्ट्र लघु उद्योग विकास महामंडळाचे अध्यक्ष संदीप जोशी, माजी महापौर प्रवीण दटके आदी उपस्थित होते.

पारडीच्या उत्सवात सहभाग होऊन मुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस यांनी अति प्राचीन असलेल्या पारडी येथील श्री भवानी मातेच्या मंदिरास भेट दिली. तसेच श्री भवानी माता सेवा समितीतर्फे आयोजित करण्यात आलेल्या आश्विन नवरात्र महोत्सवात सहभाग घेतला. यावेळी श्री भवानी मातेची विधीवत पूजा करुन मातेचा आशीर्वाद घेतला तसेच सर्व जनतेच्या इच्छा व आकांक्षा पूर्ण करण्याची मातेला प्रार्थना केला. हुडकेश्वर येथील रेणुकानगर येथे श्री रेणुका मातेचे दर्शन घेतले. यावेळी संस्थेचे अध्यक्ष दिनेश तितरमारे यांनी स्वागत केले.
Nagpur : On the occasion of International Girl Child Day, a session on ‘Menstrual Hygiene’ was organized at Bishop Cotton School, Sadar, by an eminent Gynecologist of the town Dr Vaidehi Marathe. The session was kept for the high school girls. She enlightened the girls with menstrual myths & taboos. She explained the menstrual cycle to the girls portraying it being natural and gift to girls. Dr. Vaidehi adviced to the girls to unfollow the old traditional beliefs of not entering a temple during their menses etc She explained them the difference between love and lust, advice them to say no and maintain a sexual health. Dr. Vaidehi also made them aware about the STDS (Sexually Transmitted Diseases) which imbibes with having intimation with more than one sexual partner.

A Quiz on ‘Menstrual Hygiene’ was kept after the session & prizes were given to winners. The winners were Lipakshi Rawat (First), Shruti Jaiwar (Second) and Khushi Badhiye (Third). The principal of the school Mrs. M. Stephenson also appreciated the activity and said, ‘It’s essential for my girls to attend this type of sessions and interact so that there misconceptions and myths can be cleared’.
Another session in the evening was organized behind Jain Temple, Lakshmi nagar for girls (coming from poor background families) belonging to Upay Foundation an NGO, by Dr. Vaidehi Marathe to teach them about the difference between the good touch and bad touch and also to inform them that if they experience any bad thing or touch they should immediately inform their parents or close relatives & avoid such people. The girls were informed about health, hygiene and healthy dietary food.
Concluding the session she requested them to ask their mothers to go for yearly check-ups in the government hospital so that breast cancer and cervic cancer can be avoided through regular checkups and also told them about
available vaccinations.
A game on ‘Memorizing’ was conducted by the staff of Yawalkar Classes and prizes were also given to them. The director of the institute Mr. Vijay Yawalkar said, “I am proud father, & We are proud & blessed to have two daughters”, will continue to arrange such type of sessions for the girl child in future also. At the end all agreed to “being a girl is not a curse but a natural gift from god”.
नागपुर : उपराजधानी हमेशा किसी न किसी कारण से सुर्खियों में रहता है चाहे वो राजनीति हाे या कई दिग्गज अभिनेता – नेताओ का यहां आना जाना हो किन्तु इसके विपरीत फिल्म की बात करे तो कई मराठी फिल्मे यहाँ बनीं है ।वैसे तो कई मराठी फिल्मों की शूटिंग नागपुर और नागपुर के कई क्षेत्रों में हो चुकी है। किन्तु अब सदी के महानायक अमिताभ बच्चन भी १५ नंवबर को नागपुर आने वाले हैं ।
उनकी आगामी फिल्म ‘झुंड’ की शूटिंग के लिए फिल्म जानकारों के मुताबिक वे जल्द ही सैराट निर्देशक नागराज मुंडले के साथ नागपुर में प्रेस कांफ्रेस करने वाले हैं। ज्ञात रहे कि विजय बारसे पर बच्चन स्टारर ‘झुंड’ आधारित है । महानायक का जलवा ही ऐसा है कि वे जहां पहुंच जाए भीड़ पहले पहुंच जाती है। बात जब उनके नागपुर में शूटिंग करने की हो तो नागपुरवासी उनकी एक झलक के लिए बेकरार होंगे ही, ऐसी ही बेकरारी दिख रही है संतरावासियों में। हाल ये हैं कि प्री -प्रोडक्क्शन और शूटिंग के दौरान जो लाेग चाहिए होंगे उसके लिए भी अभी से लोग अपना रजिस्ट्रेशन करवा रहे हैं।
विजय बारसे के अनुसार नागपुर के हिसलॉप कॉलेज में स्पोर्ट्स इंस्ट्रक्टर थे, उन्होंने १७-१८ साल में बहुत सारे बच्चों की जिंदगी बदल दी । कॉलेज जा रहे थे लेकिन बरसात से बचने के लिए एक पेड़ के नीचे खड़े हो गए। तभी उन्होंने आसपास से आ रही कुछ सुहावनी आवाजें सुनी। पीछे मुड़े तो मैदान था जिसमें कुछ बच्चे खेल रहे थे। खिलखिला रहे थे। तन पर पूरे कपड़े नहीं थे, मैदान में कीचड़ जमा हो रहा था। लेकिन पड़ोस की झुग्गी के ये बच्चे खेल रहे थे। एक टूटी हुई बाल्टी से किक मार रहे थे और खुश थे।
इसे देखकर विजय ने कुछ सोचा और अपने कॉलेज गए। वहां अपने डिपार्टमेंट से एक असली फुटबॉल लेकर आए। उन बच्चों को दी फुटबाल दी, बच्चों ने खेलना शुरु किया। बारसे ने स्लम सॉकर की स्थापना की। शहर में इसे झोपड़पट्टी फुटबॉल कहकर पुकारा जाता है। इसका पहला मैच २००१ में हुआ। नागपुर की दो झोपड़पट्टियों के बीच वसंतनाइक स्लम और धरमपेठ स्लम के बीच हुआ था। जब बारसे ने पहला सालाना स्लम सॉकर टूर्नामेंट करवाया तो उसमें बच्चों की १२८ टीमों ने हिस्सा लिया, आज ‘स्लम सॉकर – क्रीड़ा विकास संस्था’ का कामकाज बहुत फैल गया है। सिर्फ महाराष्ट्र में ही बताया जाता है कि इसमें २५०० टीमें खेलती हैं। इतने बरसों में स्लम सॉकर से जुड़कर बहुत सारे बच्चे निकले हैं जो आज सफल मुकाम तक पहुंचे हैं।
फिल्म झुंड का सेट सेंट जांस स्कूल में बनाया जा रहा है, वहीं पर पूरी शूटिंग होगी। ये शूटिंग ४५ दिनों तक चलेगी। जिसमें स्कूली बच्चे सहित अन्य लोग हिस्सा लेंगे। इसमें स्थानीय लोग भी शामिल होंगे ये लोग अभी से रजिस्ट्रेशन करवा रहे हैं। सेंट जांस स्कूल को स्लम में बब्दील किया जाएगा और यहीं पूरी शूटिंग की जाएगी। इसके अलावा भी कुछ हिस्सों की शूटिंग बाहरी इलाकों में भी होगी। वहीं पुलिस प्रोटेक्क्शन और प्रोडक्क्शन व शूटिंग के लिए भी परमिशन ली जा चुकी है।

नागपुर : नागपुर मध्ये रावण दहन करण्याची परम्परा मागील ७० वर्ष्यापासून शुरू आहे.शहरातील कस्तूरचंद पार्क, रेशीमबाग, चिटणीस पार्क, चुनाभट्टी येथील रावणदहन प्रसिद्ध आहे. परंतु, गेल्या काही वर्षांमध्ये या सोहळ्यासाठी घ्याव्या लागणाऱ्या विविध प्रकारच्या परवानग्या, महागाई आणि रावणाचा पुतळा तयार करण्यासाठी लागणाऱ्या विविध वस्तूंवरील जीएसटी यामुळे यावर्षी ऑर्डर कमी झाली आहे. कडबी चौकात तीन पिढ्यांपासून रावणाचे पुतळे बनविणाऱ्या बिनवार कुटुंबीयांनी या घटलेल्या ऑर्डरवर प्रकाश टाकला. खेमकरसिंग बिनवार यांनी सांगितले की, ‘पुतळा बनविण्यासाठी प्रामुख्याने आर्ट पेपर, ज्युट, गोंद, रंग, धागा यांचा वापर करण्यात येतो. या सर्वांवर जीएसटी लागू करण्यात आला आहे. परिणामत: या वस्तूंच्या दरामध्ये चांगलीच वाढ झाली आहे. रावणदहनाला येणारा खर्च वाढला असून काही लहान मंडळांनी ऑर्डर देण्यास नकार दिला आहे. बिनवार यांनी बनविलेले पुतळे शहरातील विविध भागांशिवाय वर्धा, सावनेर, काटोल, कोंढाळी, मध्य प्रदेश, छत्तीसगड येथे निर्यात होतात. चाळीस फूट ते साठ फूट आकाराच्या पुतळ्यांमध्ये रावण, कुंभकर्ण व मेघनाद यांचा समावेश असतो.
कस्तूरचंद पार्क वर रंगणार सोहळा
रंगारंग सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम, रामकथेवर सादर केलेले नाट्य, फटाक्यांची आतषबाजी, नयनरम्य लेझर शो अशा थाटात हा उत्सव साजरा केला जातो. दरवर्षीप्रमाणे यंदाही रावणदहनाचा कार्यक्रम सनातन धर्म युवक सभेद्वारे कस्तूरचंद पार्क येथे आयोजित करण्यात आला आहे. तेथे सायंकाळी होणारा रावणदहनाचा उत्सव शहरासाठी आकर्षण असतो. हा उत्सव बघण्यासाठी घरातील बच्चेकंपनीपासून ज्येष्ठ नागरिक सर्वच येतात. या उत्सवाच्या माध्यमातून नव्या पिढीपर्यंत रामकथेतील विविध प्रसंगांना आकर्षक रोशनाईमध्ये उलगडून दाखविले जाते.
New Delhi : Union Minister for Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi has said that she is proposing a committee, comprising senior judicial and legal persons as members, to look into all issues emanating from the MeToo campaign.
Referring to the cases that have emerged as part of MeToo campaign, the Union minister told , “I believe in all of them. I believe in the pain and trauma behind every single complaint.”
“Proposing committee with senior judicial, legal persons to look into all issues emanating from #MeToo,” said the Minister for Women and Child Development.
The #MeToo movement gathered pace over the last week with many women speaking out on sexual harassment at workplace and support pouring from various quarters.
Gandhi has also asked the law ministry to allow victims file complaint reports without any time limit.

पंतप्रधान नरेंद्र मोदी यांना जीवे मारण्याची धमकी देण्यात आली आहे. दिल्ली पोलिस आयुक्तांना याबाबतचा मेल आला असून हा नेमका कोणी पाठवला आहे याबाबत अद्याप माहिती समोर आलेली नाही. मात्र या मेलमुळे मोदींच्या जीवाला धोका असल्याचे समोर आले आहे. या मेलमुळे सुरक्षा यंत्रणा आणि दिल्ली पोलिस सतर्कतेचे आदेश देण्यात आले आहेत.
प्राथमिक अंदाजानुसार हा मेल पूर्वेकडील राज्यातून आल्याचे सांगण्यात येत आहे. या पार्श्वभूमीवर मोठ्या स्तरावर चौकशी सुरु असून पूर्ण चौकशी झाल्यानंतरच यामागे कोणाचा हात आहे ते समोर येईल. याआधीही काही महिन्यांपूर्वी माअोवाद्यांकडून मोदींना जीवे मारण्याची धमकी देण्यात आली होती.
Assam : At least four people have been injured after an explosion went off near Shukleshwar Ghat in Guwahati on Saturday.
The blast damaged the boundary wall near Shukleshwar Ghat, causing injuries to four people in the vicinity. The nature of the explosion is not yet known.
The wounded were immediately taken to the MMC hospital for medical treatment.
Police have cordoned off the area and launched a probe in the matter.
“Around 11:45 am, an explosion occurred at the river front. Preliminary investigation rules out any sabotage activity. Bomb disposal squad is present at the spot, further investigation is underway,” Joint Commissioner of Police Diganta Borah.
Promising Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen settled for a silver medal after he lost the men’s singles summit clash against Li Shifeng of China in straight games in the Youth Olympics here.
Sen, the reigning junior Asian champion, lost 15-21 19-21 in a 42-minute final match to bag the silver. He had beaten Shifeng in straight games in the quarterfinals of the Asian Championships in July but on Friday evening, it was the turn of the Chinese to turn the tables on the 17-year-old.
In both the games, Shifeng led all through and Sen was playing catch-up, eventually failing to succeed.
In the first game, Shifeng took an early lead and raced to 14-5 in no time. Sen made a fine recovery to narrow down the gap to 13-16 but he could not sustain it and Shifeng went ahead 18-13 and then made it 20-14 to have six game points. Though Sen saved one game point, the Chinese won the next one to pocket the first game in 17 minutes.
The second game was a closer fight than the first but the Chinese was leading all the time. Shifeng was ahead 8-7 initially but the gap widened to 12-7 before Sen made it 11-14. The three-point gap remained for some time before the Chinese made it 18-14 and then 19-14.
Sen made a last-ditch effort to save the match by winning three straight points but Shifeng still made it 20-17 to have three match points.
Sen was still not throwing the towel as he reeled off two straight points to make it 19-20 and just one point away from a deuce. But his Chinese opponent was a hard nut to crack as Shifeng won the final point to clinch the match and the gold.
This was India’s fourth silver along with three gold in the ongoing Youth Olympics.
New Delhi : As celebrations of Navratri or the ‘nine nights’ of festivity in honour of Goddess Durga began on October 10, the Indian Railways began, Railways will now offer ‘vrat ka khana’ (food during fasting) as a part of its e-catering menu during the Navratri festival.
IRCTC said that the option of Navratri special fast food will be available through the e-catering website – ecatering.
Food items like sabudana, sendha namak, kuttu ka atta, among other foods eaten by devotees who observe a fast during the Navratris.
Orders can be placed at least two hours before scheduled journey time with a valid PNR, it said, adding passengers may opt to pre-pay or on delivery, based on convenience. Devotees can avail the facility of having special fasting food on board trains till November 18.

Nagpur: Ganeshpeth police on Thursday seized gold and silver ornaments worth over Rs 7 lakh lying unclaimed in MSRTC bus. The cops received information that driver and conductor of Nagpur-Gondia bus have found a bag containing gold and silver ornaments. Subsequently, a team of cops led by PSI Atram reached Bus Depot at Ghat Road and started investigation. The officials and employees of Bus Depot told the cops that driver D R Kakde and conductor W D Dharmik were on duty on Nagpur-Gondia bus (MH-14/BT 5018).
As the bus reached Gondia, the conductor Dharmik noticed black coloured bag lying unclaimed in the luggage cabin. Dharmik deposited the bag at Bus Depot after coming to Nagpur. The Depot Manager S B Shirsath opened the bag in the presence of other employees and found gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 7.4 lakh. Shirsath kept the bag in safe box of the depot. Ganeshpeth police performed panchnama and seized the bag containing 157 grams of gold and 7 kg of silver ornaments collectively worth Rs 7.4 lakh.
