22nd November 2022, New Delhi: Mr S M Vaidya, Chairman, IndianOil, launched the ‘TB Mukt IndianOil Parivar’ program today that aims to eradicate the menace of Tuberculosis from the IndianOil family by 2025. Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, and Other UPI Payment Apps May Impose Transaction Limit

Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, and Other UPI Payment Apps May Impose Transaction Limit

UPI payment apps like Google Pay, PhonePe, and Paytm may soon impose limits on transactions.

National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), which runs the UPI digital pipeline, is in talks with the Reserve Bank on implementation of its proposed December 31 deadline for limiting the volume cap of players to 30 percent.

There is no cap on volume and Google Pay and PhonePe hold a market share of about 80 percent.

NPCI  had proposed a 30 percent volume cap for third-party app providers (TPAP) in a bid to avoid concentration risk in November 2022.

A meeting has already taken place to comprehensively look at all aspects. Besides NPCI officials, senior officials of the finance ministry and RBI also participated in this meeting.

No final decision has been taken to extend the December 31 deadline as the NPCI is still evaluating all the possibilities. By the month’s end, NPCI is likely to decide upon the issue of UPI market cap implementation.

While Paytm, the third-ranking payment app wants market capping to be implemented as per the timeline (December 2022), market leaders Walmart-owned PhonePe, as well as Google Pay, had independently approached UPI regulator National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) for the extension of the deadline by at least three more years.

The Central Government had recently said that UPI is convenient and that there were no plans to put any charges on it.

Maharashtra is set to replicate some of the innovative projects in Kerala’s school education sector. This was decided after a delegation from Maharashtra led by school education minister Deepak Vasant Kesarkar called on his Kerala counterpart V Sivankutty and also interacted with officials here to understand the state’s school education model.

The interactions focused mainly on the achievements of the General Education Protection Campaign of the first Pinarayi Vijayan government and the Vidyakiranam project of the present government.

Kesarkar noted that many educational models of Kerala were exemplary and directed Maharashtra officials to examine the feasibility of replicating them in the state.

Various agencies that implement programmes in the general education sector introduced their projects before the visiting delegation. Projects implemented by Samagra Shiksha Kerala and interventions for differently-abled students were also discussed in detail.

Charu Gupta, an aspiring and independent woman, has always believed that there is no shortcut to hard work. As the founder of Saikara Collections that deals in party supplies and home decor, the initial few years were tough to develop her business. She was working for different jobs before becoming a small business owner, but the initial step towards starting something of her own was owing to some crisis in the family. However, with an initial capital of INR 5,000 in hand she founded her own company. Guided by Flipkart’s insight and support from her loved ones, she transformed her small business into a thriving enterprise and within six months her business earned a gold tag on Flipkart.

Staying true to her mantra, courage and perseverance along with her undying wish to make it big for her family kept her going all along. Reminiscing about her journey, she says, “Securing a turnover of INR 5 crore today, I can’t help but look back at 2015 when everything changed for me. Every move I make, starts with highlighting my persistence to not only redefine my own limits, but those set by the society for me as a woman entrepreneur”, she added.

From doubting her skill sets as an entrepreneur by wholesalers to having to adapt to the e-commerce ecosystem, her journey has been a rollercoaster ride. Triumphing over all odds and becoming a Flipkart seller, changed the game for her business. Within no time, her small business became a national hit, the turnover crossed INR 1 crore, which was a significant milestone compared to the INR 5,000 initial capital she invested. Within a year after her launch on Flipkart, it grew by 400%.

Her journey is more than just being an entrepreneur, her company is more than just a business today and Flipkart has helped her dream come true.  Her success is also a success to other women employed by her. With her story she will continue to inspire many women entrepreneurs and encourage them to take that first step.

Chitra Vyas is an inspiration to many who are ambitious in the entrepreneurial space. Her story highlights the importance of not giving up amidst challenges that life throws at us. She started as an amateur and with her consistent efforts she went on to win the ‘Best Entrepreneur’ award on Flipkart.

Chitra who hails from Hyderabad started her journey as an entrepreneur selling electronics on her own website that she had owned earlier. Facing multiple logistics and distribution challenges, she turned to Flipkart in 2015 and under the guidance of her manager provided by Flipkart, her business and entrepreneurial journey took off well.

She started her website with a small investment from her uncle, but upon facing several challenges and lack of expert guidance to ensure product visibility in the market, she had to close down her company in 2015.  During that time, Flipkart emerged as a ray of hope with which she aspired to see better results for her business.

Within a brief period of joining the platform, the sales surged. She received 100 orders within a week. “Flipkart gave us the guidance we needed to broaden our customer base. An account manager was assigned to help us with our business and based on his advice we started adding more categories to our listings. That’s when we decided to begin exploring our opportunities in the fashion category and started selling footwear,” she added.

Over the years, understanding the space better, most of her own extended family members who had never shopped online and were skeptical about the product quality have started buying essentials and other products on Flipkart.

Her growth on the platform has been encouraging and she wishes more business owners would take note of her journey and take the initial step in starting a business online. She says, “I never imagined I would become such a successful entrepreneur with a small business like mine. But coming so far and making it big is definitely satisfying and overwhelming at the same time. Considering my efforts and growth, I was awarded ‘Best Entrepreneur’ among Flipkart’s women sellers in 2018. It’s a nice feeling when you start with five orders and now you receive 700 every day on an average. We started small and now we have an entire office. We are still enjoying the journey and wish more women entrepreneurs to be a part of the online revolution.”

Women’s Entrepreneurship Day: Flipkart celebrates the success of self-made women entrepreneurs on the platform

Sristi Mishra is a microbiology graduate from Dehradun who moved to Mumbai after getting married and found an interest in jewelry making while watching YouTube videos. Soon, she picked it up as a hobby and decided to earn from it. Her story is a true inspiration for anyone who wishes to turn their hobby into a successful business.

Sristi is a self-taught entrepreneur who started designing and making jewelry by watching YouTube videos. What started as a hobby is helping her earn and build a name for herself as an entrepreneur.  She picked up the art fairly quickly by watching videos online and became quite efficient with it. While browsing through a few stores at a mall, she observed that customers were interested and were buying designs similar to hers. Encouraged to pursue her hobby and build a small business out of it, she decided to sell her handmade jewelry online. She founded a company named JBNFashionGallery and partnered with Flipkart in 2017.

Considering the wide customer base online marketplace provides, she was firm with her decision to make her business exclusive to the ecommerce platform. Sristi says, “If you’re selling online, the risk is relatively lower as compared to running a business offline. I am happy that I am getting to run a business at the comfort of my home. Today everyone has shifted to digital platforms and shopping therefore has become convenient with access to a wide array of products which earlier was next to impossible offline. For small business owners like us it’s a huge enabler to offer our products to national consumers. Another great aspect of running business online is access to consumer insights which helps in keeping up with the latest trends online”.

Recalling her journey, she shared what it was like to start a small business with just INR 5,000 and growing the business many folds over the years. She is happy to witness how proud her family members are today as she is the first member to start a business of her own. She is upbeat about the future and plans to add more categories in the women’s accessories segment, with products such as handbags, purses, wallets, etc. while continuing to expand her business nationally.

Face masks not compulsory for air travellers

The civil aviation ministry on Wednesday said the use of masks is not compulsory during air travel but passengers should preferably use them amid the declining number of coronavirus cases.

Till now, the use of masks or face covers while travelling on flights was mandatory.

In a communication to the scheduled airlines, the ministry said the latest decision has been taken in line with the government’s policy of a graded approach to COVID-19 management response.

“… the in-flight announcements henceforth may only mention that in view of the threat posed by COVID-19, all passengers should preferably use mask/face covers,” the communication said.

It also said that any specific reference to fine/penal action need not be announced as part of the in-flight announcements.

The total number of active coronavirus cases in the country accounted was only 0.02 per cent of the total infections and the recovery rate increased to 98.79 per cent, according to the latest official data.

Domestic LPG cylinders will soon include QR codes

The programme is anticipated to address difficulties with theft, offer protection for cylinders, have data on their safety evaluations, and include information on where it was bottled, among other things.

According to Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders will soon include QR codes that will help manage the household cylinders.

The code-based track and trace project will help to address concerns with theft, tracking, and better cylinder inventory management.

“Fueling Traceability! A remarkable innovation – this QR Code will be pasted on existing cylinders & welded on new ones – when activated it has the potential to resolve several existing issues of pilferage, tracking & tracing & better inventory management of gas cylinders,” said the petroleum minister releasing a video on his Twitter profile.

In the video, which is from the World LPG Week 2022 event taking place in Uttar Pradesh, Puri interacts with officials and asks about the viability of the concept.

The machine-readable optical labels known as QR (Quick Response) codes are a digital solution that provide information about the object they are attached to.

20,000 of the initial batch of LPG were given the code, and all 14.2 kg household cylinders will receive the code in the coming months.

In an effort to improve customer service, the programme is anticipated to address difficulties with theft, provide security for cylinders, have information on their safety tests, and have information on where it was bottled, among other things.

At the event, Puri spoke about the importance of access to affordable, clean energy, stating that supporting innovations in the LPG energy mix, efficiency, conservation, bio LPG, synthetic LPG, etc., would promote positive growth and advance efforts to combat climate change.

India will switch to using USB C as the standard port for charging all smart gadgets

India will switch to using USB C as the standard port for charging all smart gadgets

Rohit Kumar, the Union government’s secretary for consumer affairs, said the parties came to an agreement at a meeting of an inter-ministerial task group.

Consumer Affairs Secretary Rohit Kumar Singh announced on Wednesday that India will switch to a USB type C charging port for all smart gadgets after stakeholders reached an agreement at a meeting of an inter-ministerial task force established by the Union government. In order to transition to two standard chargers—one for all compatible devices and another for inexpensive feature phones—the government is organising extensive discussions.Portable device universal chargers will not only make things easier for consumers, but also reduce the enormous volumes of e-waste produced in the nation.

According to an ASSOCHAM-EY report titled “Electronic Waste Management in India,” India is predicted to have produced 5 million tonnes of e-waste in 2021, trailing only China and the US in terms of production.“During the meeting, there was a general agreement among the participants to use USB Type-C as a charging port for electronic devices such laptops, tablets, and smartphones, among others.

Additionally, it was discussed if a different charging connector should be used for feature phones, according to Singh.

Standard connectors and charging devices are already becoming more prevalent in many affluent economies. The European Union (EU) wants all devices to have USB-C ports as standard. According to a Bloomberg story, the EU passed provisional law on June 7 this year requiring all future cellphones sold in the EU, including Apple’s iPhone, to include a universal USB-C connector for wired charging by the middle of 2024.

According to a second official, one of India’s worries is that after the EU makes the switch, it would dump outdated phones and equipment in India.

The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology, Confederation of Indian Industry, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change all sent delegates to the meeting on Wednesday.

A separate sub-group of the task force has been established by the consumer affairs ministry to look at the viability of standard charging connections for wearable technology, such as smart watches.

In order to ensure “effective implementation and easy adoption,” the official cited above stated that stakeholders had agreed on a phased roll-out of uniform charging ports.

He continued, “Industry should overcome inertia in adopting a uniform charging port in the interest of consumer welfare and prevention of avoidable e-waste.”

The environment ministry will probably conduct an impact assessment to “evaluate and examine” the effects of switching to a standardised charging port on the production of electronic waste.

“Since the world is moving toward USB-C connectors, it makes sense for us to do the same.

Ajay Garg of the Electronic Industries Association of India noted one crucial fact: “What is in now is out tomorrow because the rate of technological obsolescence in the electronic business is very high.

According to a recent letter sent by the consumer affairs secretary to industry representatives inviting them to consultations, the Union government is of the opinion that the nation should move to two types of standard charging devices, one for smart phones and other portable devices like laptops and tablets, and another for cheaper feature phones, which has a larger market share.

Officials anticipate that by establishing a standard for universal chargers, phone manufacturers will no longer need to provide chargers in the box because consumers will already have the necessary chargers and charging accessories.

G20 summit 2022: The Indian side’s approach to the Ukraine crisis – that “today’s era is not of war” – helped G20 negotiators finalise a draft communique.

The Indian side’s approach to the Ukraine crisis – that “today’s era is not of war” – helped G20 negotiators finalise a draft communique after days of work on the consensus document to be issued at the conclusion of the summit in Bali, people familiar with the matter said on Tuesday.

The draft communique was agreed on by diplomats late on Monday after a three-member Indian team led by Sherpa Amitabh Kant worked with Western countries, which were pushing to denounce Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and other G20 members such as China that were backing Russia, to find common ground, the people said.

The Indian side suggested “textual changes” to the G20 communique, including suggestions from the prime minister, and these “found resonance during the negotiations”, the people said. One key suggestion was to couch the criticism of the Russian invasion in India’s stated position that “today’s era is not of war”.

These words were first used by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the margins of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Uzbekistan on September 16. Modi had nudged Putin to end the war while highlighting the problems of food and energy security being faced by developing countries.

The draft communique will still have to be endorsed by G20 leaders on Wednesday, the final day of the summit in Bali, the people said. Indonesian officials told the media on Tuesday that G20 teams were still working on the communique and they remained optimistic.

The draft also condemns threats to use nuclear weapons, the Financial Times reported. “The use or threat of use of nuclear weapons is inadmissible. The peaceful resolution of conflicts, efforts to address crises, as well as diplomacy and dialogue, are vital. Today’s era must not be of war,” the draft states, according to FT.

The draft further states that most G20 members “strongly condemned the war in Ukraine and stressed it is causing immense human suffering and exacerbating existing fragilities in the global economy”.

Before the draft was agreed on by G20 negotiators, concern had grown that there might not be a consensus outcome document at the conclusion of the summit. Diplomats of some G20 states said many members would be quite happy with a “chair’s statement”, a mechanism adopted by current G20 president Indonesia several times this year after meetings of the foreign, finance and climate ministers all failed to produce joint communiques.

IPL retention and releases: SRH release captain Kane Williamson, and CSK release Dwayne Bravo

The 10 teams have made a list of the players they would keep before the Indian Premier League mini-auction, which will take place on November 23 in Kochi.

The players who have been released will be put up for auction.

On Monday, Sunrisers Hyderabad fired their skipper Kane Williamson, while Chennai Kings let go of longtime veteran Dwayne Bravo.

The day began with veteran West Indian all-rounder Kieron Pollard of the Mumbai Indians declaring his retirement from the IPL only to be hired as the batting coach of the five-time champion team.

Kasi made it plain that Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the star of CSK, will serve as the team’s captain.

World Diabetes Day: Wockhardt Hospitals, Nagpur, commit to raising public awareness

Adult Vaccination Plays Important Role in Your Life Cycle

In our nation, diabetes is a fairly frequent health problem. In order to ensure normal physiological functions, managing it is crucial.

Wockhardt Hospitals in Nagpur are going above and beyond to raise awareness of treating diabetes in the winter on this World Diabetes Day.

Having diabetes can be difficult. It affects a person’s general health and quality of life. It only gets harder for those with diabetes to manage their condition as winter approaches.

It might raise blood sugar levels and potentially endanger health.

Internal medicine and critical care consultant Dr. Swarup Verma warns that controlling diabetes throughout the winter necessitates taking extra precautions. Compared to other seasons, the winters can be very challenging.

The difficulty of maintaining your routine, which includes a certain food and exercise programme, may rise in cold weather.

Being diabetic makes getting sick from an infection, the common cold, or the flu more than just a bummer; it can also result in serious health problems down the road.

Diabetes patients are more susceptible to the flu and pneumonia, both of which are avoidable illnesses.

It is especially crucial for diabetics to take care of their feet throughout the winter. Diabetes can impair blood flow to the feet, making it less likely that they will stay warm during cold weather.

Additionally, infections and foot pain from nerves are more likely to occur in the winter. So it becomes crucial to keep them warm and dry.

The following precautions for diabetics should be taken:

Keep warm by yourself

daily examination of the feet for any discoloration, sores, or cracks

Daily foot inspection

After taking a bath, moisturise

Put on warm, dry socks and boots or shoes.

For diabetics, it can be alluring to turn to comfort foods like fried dishes and sweets. Keeping the sugar levels under control may become even more difficult as a result of this.

Being physically active might be difficult, and the cold can make you feel lethargic. Include a home fitness programme to prevent skipping outside activity.

Other safety measures include avoiding infections, maintaining hydration, checking your vitals frequently, and maintaining a positive outlook.

Dr. Vaibhav Agrawal, Consultant in Internal Medicine and Critical Care, argues that as life is not guaranteed, it is crucial to embrace each moment. Regard yourself with care on World Diabetes Day.

Instead of just daydreaming about it, let’s unite and make a commitment to do our part to rid the world of diabetes. Happy and safe World Diabetes Day to you.

BCCI Prepares to Send SOS to MS Dhoni for a BIG ROLE with Indian T20 Set-Up, Can Be Appointed as Director of CRICKET

Restructuring of the Indian Cricket Team: MS Dhoni as T20 Cricket Director? The Indian cricket board is prepared to knock on the door of the person who easily won the World events after repeated failures at ICC competitions.

Following the failure of the T20 World Cup in Australia, the BCCI is preparing to send MS Dhoni an SOS for a LARGE ROLE with the Indian T20 Cricket setup. Sources within the BCCI claim that the organisation is debating whether to offer Dhoni a permanent position with the Indian cricket team. Rahul Dravid, the HEAD COACH, is proving to be unable to handle the burden of overseeing three forms, according to BCCI.

This is the rationale for BCCI’s consideration of dividing the coaching duties. The board wants to employ Dhoni’s talents to raise the calibre of the Indian cricket team in the T20 FORMAT. During the T20 World Cup in the UAE in 2021, Dhoni assisted the team, although only temporarily. The team was eliminated in the first round, showing that involvement for approximately a week did not produce the intended effects.

The BCCI believes that a bigger and bigger involvement will undoubtedly improve the Indian T20 setup. The two-time World Cup champion may be asked to lead the Indian T20 team and work with a specialised group of players.

The APEX Council meeting’s DATE has not yet been determined. However, a board meeting will reportedly be held in the final week of this month. There will be discussion about the creation of the Cricket Advisory Committee. The formation of the new selection panel members will be discussed. The issue of split coaching roles may be raised at the meeting of the apex council.

A video of a law student being beaten by a group of college students in his hostel room in Hyderabad is going viral on social media. A student is forced to chant a religious slogan and is mercilessly beaten by a group of students in the video. The incident occurred at ICFAI Business School in Dhonthanpally village in Telangana, according to Telangana Police. The victim is a law undergraduate student in her first semester.

According to the video, Himank Bansal, a third-year student at ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education (IFHE) in Hyderabad, was slapped, kicked, and had his hands twisted. As the accused continued to beat him, he can be heard chanting “Jai Mata Di” and “Allahu Akbar.”

“We want to fix his ideology. We will beat him into a coma and he will remember a whole new world,” an accused said. One of them snatched his wallet and told another, “Take all the money you want.”

So far, the Hyderabad Police have apprehended 5 suspects in the case. The remaining seven have fled. The business school has suspended all of them.

The incident occurred on November 1st after Himank made anti-Muslim comments on social media. According to police, a case was opened after he approached them and filed a complaint alleging physical and sexual assault.

Petroleum Minister Puri says the Centre ready to bring fuel under GST

Petroleum Minister Puri says the Centre ready to bring fuel under GST
Petroleum Minister Puri says the Centre ready to bring fuel under GST

The Centre is ready for bringing petrol and diesel under the GST regime but it is unlikely that the states will agree to such a move, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said on November 14.

“For bringing the petrol and diesel under the GST, the States have to agree. If the States make the move, we are ready. We have been ready all along. That’s my understanding. It is another issue of how to implement it. That question should be addressed to the finance minister,” Mr Puri told reporters.

The Minister, however, pointed out that it is unlikely that the States will agree to such a move as liquor and energy are revenue-generating items for them.

“It is not difficult to understand, they (States) get the revenue out of this. One who is getting revenue, why would he leave it? Liquor and energy are two things that generate revenue. It is only the Central government which is worried about inflation and other things,” he added.

According to the Union Minister, the Kerala High Court recommended that the issue be brought before the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council for discussion at its most recent meeting in Lucknow.

“The Finance Minister of that State did not agree. As far as GST is concerned, your wishes and my wishes apart, we are in a cooperative federal system,” he said.

Asked if the people can expect some respite in terms of fuel prices, the Minister said India has seen one of the lowest increases in these prices in the past year.

“I am surprised by your question. In a lighter vein, people are asking me when the prices will rise again. In North America, the fuel prices went up by 43% in one year but in India, it went up by only 2%”

“If there is a bright spot anywhere in the world, it’s India. It’s not me saying it, it is Morgan Stanley. It’s the managing director of IMF saying this,” Mr Puri said.

The Minister said India has been able to insulate itself from the rising fuel prices by taking a number of steps, including reducing the excise duty by the Centre.

“There are some countries in our neighbourhood which have fuel shortages, and prices are exorbitant. But we did not have shortages even in the remote areas of the country. It has been a very strong navigation at the level of the Centre and the states. What will happen in future it is difficult to say.

“During Covid in March 2020, the price of an oil barrel had come down to $19. 56 which is now $96. I don’t answer hypothetical questions but the efforts of the Central government will be that prices remain stable,” he said.
