पहिली ते आठवीच्यापाठोपाठ नववी व अकरावीच्या विद्यार्थ्यांनाही वर्गोन्नती देण्याचा निर्णय शालेय शिक्षणमंत्री वर्षा गायकवाड यांनी बुधवारी जाहीर केला. त्यामुळे नववीतील 19 लाख 8 हजार 976 तर अकरावीच्या 13 लाख 54 हजार 383 विद्यार्थ्यांना दिलासा मिळाला आहे. महाराष्ट्रातील कोरोना रुग्णांचे प्रमाण दिवसेंदिवस वाढतच असल्याने काही दिवसांपूर्वी राज्यातील पहिली ते आठवीच्या विद्यार्थ्यांना वर्गोन्नती देण्यात आली होती. त्यानंतर नववी आणि अकरावीच्या विद्यार्थ्यांचे काय असा प्रश्न विद्यार्थी, शिक्षक व पालकांकडून उपस्थित करण्यात येत होता.
कोविड 19 महामारीच्या अपवादात्मक परिस्थितीमुळे शैक्षणिक वर्ष 2020-2021 मध्ये इयत्ता 9 वी ते 12 वी च्या शाळा, उच्च माध्यमिक विद्यालये 23 नोव्हेंबर 2020 पासून सुरू करण्यात आल्या होत्या. इयत्ता 9 वी ते 12 वी च्या विद्यार्थ्यांचे शिक्षण सुरू राहावे म्हणून शासन स्तरावरून विविध स्वरूपाचे प्रयत्न केले गेले आहेत व अद्याप देखील ते सुरू आहेत. मात्र, मार्चपासून राज्यामध्ये कोरोना रुग्णांची संख्या वेगाने वाढू लागली आहे. त्यामुळे राज्यातील पहिली ते आठवीच्या विद्यार्थ्यांची परीक्षा न घेताच त्यांना पुढील वर्गात उत्तीर्ण करण्याचा निर्णय शालेेय शिक्षण मंत्री वर्षा गायकवाड यांच्याकडून घेण्यात आला होता.
मात्र, नववी व अकरावीच्या विद्यार्थ्यांबाबत कोणतेही धोरण स्पष्ट केले नव्हते. त्यामुळे नववी व अकरावीच्या विद्यार्थ्यांमध्ये संभ्रमाचे वातावरण होते. नववी व अकरावीच्या विद्यार्थ्यांचा निर्णयही तातडीने घेण्यात यावा, अशी मागणी विद्यार्थी, शिक्षक व पालकांकडून करण्यात येत होती. या पार्श्वभूमीवर बुधवारी शालेय शिक्षण मंत्री वर्षा गायकवाड, शिक्षण विभागातील अधिकारी आणि मुख्यमंत्री उद्धव ठाकरे यांच्यामध्ये बैठक झाली. या बैठकीमध्ये नववी व अकरावीच्या विद्यार्थ्यांनाही वर्गोन्नती देण्याचा निर्णय घेण्यात आला आहे. त्यामुळे राज्यामध्ये नववीच्या वर्गामध्ये शिक्षण घेत असलेल्या 19 लाख 8 हजार 976 तर अकरावीच्या 13 लाख 54 हजार 383 विद्यार्थ्यांना दिलासा मिळाला आहे.
परीक्षा ऑफलाईन घेण्याची मागणी
खेड्या-पाड्यांत संगणक सुविधा व इंटरनेट सुविधा उपलब्ध नाही. यामुळे अनेक तांत्रिक अडचणी उद्भवू शकतात. यासाठी शहरातील विद्यार्थ्यांबरोबरच राज्यातील ग्रामीण भागातील विद्यार्थ्यांची तुलना न करता परीक्षा ऑफलाईन घ्यावी, अशी मागणी अनेक लोकप्रतिनिधी, विद्यार्थी संघटना, पालक संघटना यांच्या प्रतिनिधींनी शिक्षण मंत्री प्रा.वर्षा गायकवाड यांच्याकडे केली आहे.
परीक्षा वेळेवरच घेण्यासाठी प्रयत्न
कोरोनाचे प्रमाण दिवसेंदिवस वाढत असले तरी ग्रामीण भागामध्ये याचे प्रमाण कमी आहे. परंतु मुंबई, पुणे, नागपूर यासारख्या शहरी भागातून अनेक कामगार स्थलांतर करून गावी जात आहेत. यामुळे भविष्यात ग्रामीण भागात कोरोना रुग्ण वाढण्याची भीती आहे. आयसीआयसी, सीबीएससी व आयबी बोर्ड यांच्या परीक्षा वेळेवर होणार आहेत. त्यामुळेच भविष्यात होणार्या अनेक स्पर्धात्मक परीक्षेत राज्यातील मुले मागे पडण्याची शक्यता आहे. पुढील व्यावसायिक अभ्यासक्रम या दृष्टीने राज्यातील विद्यार्थ्यांचे शैक्षणिक नुकसान होऊ नये यासाठी परीक्षा वेळेवर व्हावी, असा सूर काही पालक व्यक्त करत आहेत.
नागपूर : राज्य शासनासह महापालिका आयुक्तांनी विविध निर्बंधासह पूर्णत: टाळेबंदी लागू केली. त्या अनुषंगाने रात्री संचारबंदी तर दिवसा जमावबंदीचे आदेशही निर्गमित केले. मात्र, या आदेशाचे तंतोतंत पालन होताना कुठेच दिसत नाही. अनेक ठिकाणी पाचपेक्षा अधिक लोक एकत्र आलेले दिसून येत आहेत. एकीकडे शहरात कोरोना संक्रमणाच्या दुसऱ्या लाटेने थैमान घातले आहे आणि दुसरीकडे नागरिक कुठलेच निर्बंध पाळत नसल्याने चिंता वाढायला लागली आहे.
३० एप्रिलपर्यंत असलेल्या टाळेबंदी अंतर्गत मॉल्स, बाजारपेठा बंद ठेवण्याचा निर्णय शासनाने घेतला आहे. त्याच अनुषंगाने रात्री पूर्णत: संचारबंदी आणि दिवसा पाचपेक्षा अधिक लोकांना एकत्र येण्यास अर्थात जमावबंदी घोषित केली आहे. मात्र, या दोन्ही घोषणांकडे नागरिकांनी सारासार दुर्लक्ष केल्याचे दिसून येते. रात्री रस्त्यावर फिरण्यास निघालेल्या लोकांची भलमार असल्याचे दिसून येते. जगनाडे चौक ते केडीके कॉलेजदरम्यान हे चित्र रात्री १२ वाजतापर्यंत दिसत आहे. शिवाय, दिवसा जमावबंदीच्या आदेशाचे सर्रास उल्लंघन होताना दिसत आहे. हॉस्पिटल्स, किराणा दुकाने, बाजारपेठांमध्ये टाळेबंदीच्या विरोधासाठी एकत्र आलेले व्यापारी संसर्गाची कुठलीही भीती न बाळगता एकत्र आल्याचे दिसून येते. टाळेबंदीत टी-स्नॅक सेंटर्स, रेस्टाॅरंटना पार्सल सुविधेची मुभा देण्यात आली आहे. मात्र, येथे पार्सल घेण्यासाठीच रांगा लागलेल्या दिसून येत आहेत. चहा पार्सलने नेण्याची वस्तू नसल्याने अनेक जण टी-पॉईंट्सवरच चहा घेताना दिसत आहेत. अशीच स्थिती फेरीवाल्यांची आहे. फळे, नारळ पाणी विक्रेत्यांच्या ठेल्यावरही अशीच स्थिती दिसून येत आहे. विशेष म्हणजे, याबाबत पोलीस किंवा प्रशासकीय यंत्रणाही टोकत नसल्याचे दिसून येत आहे.
बाजारपेठा बंद तरी रस्ते फुल्ल टाळेबंदी अंतर्गत बाजारपेठा बंद आहेत. मात्र, रस्त्यावर गर्दी ओसरलेली दिसत नाही. खासगी आस्थापनांना सरकारने बंद ठेवण्याचे व पर्यायी व्यवस्था म्हणून वर्क फ्रॉम होमचे आदेश दिले आहेत. मात्र, सरकारच्या या निर्णयाकडे दुर्लक्ष केले जात असल्याने कर्मचारी आपल्या नियोजित वेळेत घराबाहेर पडत आहेत. नोकरदार वर्ग रस्त्यावर उतरत असल्याने गर्दी कमी झालेली नाही. अशा या विसंगत धोरणामुळेही व्यापारी क्रोधीत झाल्याचे दिसून येत आहे. कोरोना संक्रमण बाजारपेठातूनच पसरतो का, असा सवाल उपस्थित केला जात आहे.
मास्क नाहीच, कारवाईसुद्धा जुजबी रस्त्यावर अनेक जण विनामास्क उतरत असल्याचे दिसून येत आहे. काही तरुण विनामास्क, विना हेल्मेट ट्रिपल सीटने फिरताना दिसत आहेत. पूर्वीसारखी पोलिसांची तैनाती नसल्याने अशांचे फावते आहे. काही ठिकाणी पोलिसांकडून मास्क व हेल्मेट संदर्भातील जुजबी कारवाई होत असल्याचेही दिसून येत आहे.
Nagpur: Wednesday morning the city private hospitals were left without a ventilator bed and just 27 ICU beds amid a rising number of critical patients and frantic search by citizens for their loved ones who are battling for life. This situation was no better in the evening as no ventilator bed was available except three at GMCH.
Covid Doctors at both medical colleges said five to 10 Covid patients in every ward are now on non-invasive ventilators but they are helpless due to the paucity of ICU and ventilator beds. There are at least 12 wards having oxygenated, high dependency units and ICU beds in both GMCH and IGGMCH.
The three ventilator beds available only at GMCH too were taken within a couple of hours. This was probably the first time when none of the private Covid hospitals had a single ventilator as all the 271 remained occupied.
Though NMC data showed 3 ventilators available, many citizens complained they were refused a ventilator bed at GMCH too.

As per NMC data, the city has 441 ventilators including 170 in 10 public and trust-run hospitals. Top medical college officials and private hospitals said the city was in urgent need of at least 200 ICU beds on a floating basis per day. “Unless such a provision is made critical patients would now have to be managed on O2 beds which will worsen the Covid situation,” said a top GMCH official.
IGGMCH officials said they are running 540 beds for Covid. “We would require 25 MD doctors to run 30 to 40 more ICU beds. The NMC had advertised these posts but no doctor has joined. IGGMCH too has advertised 30 senior and junior resident posts but they are not likely to apply,” they said.
The civil surgeon’s data indicates the number of hospitalized patients has now surpassed the number of beds in the city. As per the CS press note, 5,096 are admitted against 4,919 beds. There is a difference of 177 patients who are likely to be on a waitlist or accommodated in casualty or other wards. The NMC vacancy data showed 199 beds but civic officials say it is a dynamic figure which keeps changing frequently due to admissions and discharge.
Covid Vidarbha Hospitals Association convener Dr. Anup Marar said the situation in Nagpur is frightening. “There is an urgent need for ICU beds. This strain is too infectious. Patients, who have already taken the oral anti-viral course, have deteriorated and are landing up in the first instance – with CT scan score more than 15 – in the ICU,” he said.
Dr. Marar said that the government being the custodian of all citizen’s health is bound to augment ICU bed availability to at least 200 looking into the swelling numbers of patients. “Case fatality will certainly increase. Non-invasive ventilation accessibility, expert hands, sustained oxygen, and remdisivir supply should be ensured by the government being a principally accountable facilitator,” he said.
Board exam will commence from May 4, but the Class 10th exam will end on June 7 and Class 12th on June 14.

According to the revised date sheet, the CBSE Class 10 and Class, 12 board exam will commence from May 4, but the Class 10th exam will end on June 7 and Class 12th on June 14. As per the guidelines issued by the Board, students who will be tested positive of COVID-19 will be allowed to reappear for the papers at a later date in their respective schools. Accordingly, schools are asked to report to the CBSE regional office in such case latest by June 11.
Indian Idol 12’s most-loved contestant Pawandeep Rajan has tested positive for COVID-19 and is under quarantine for precautionary measures. The channel, on Thursday, shared a promo of Indian Idol, where the current host Rithvik Dhanjani welcomed Anandji on Kalyanji-Anandji special episode and informed everyone that contestant Pawandeep is under quarantine. The announcement surprised all three judges Neha Kakkar, Himesh Reshammiya, and Vishal Dadlani.

मुंबई/नागपूर : ‘ब्रेक दी चेन’ अंतर्गत व्यापारावर लावण्यात आलेले निर्बंध शिथिल करण्याची जोरदार मागणी करत सलग दुसऱ्या दिवशी राज्यात विविध ठिकाणी व्यापारी रस्त्यावर आले. व्यापाऱ्यांच्या वाढत्या दबावामुळे येत्या दोन दिवसांत काही निर्बंध शिथिल करण्याचे किंवा त्यात सुटसुटीतपणा आणण्याचे संकेत मुख्यमंत्री उद्धव ठाकरे यांनी बुधवारी व्यापारी संघटनांबरोबरच्या बैठकीत दिले. त्यामुळे दोन दिवसांत व्यापाऱ्यांना दिलासा मिळू शकतो.
दरम्यान, नागपूर, अकोला, औरंगाबाद, ठाणे, पुणे, जळगाव आदी ठिकाणी व्यापाऱ्यांनी दुसऱ्या दिवशीही रस्त्यावर उतरून निदर्शने केली. व्यापाऱ्यांनी सरकारला शुक्रवारपर्यंतचा अल्टिमेटम दिला आहे. कोरोनाचा संसर्ग केवळ व्यापार सुरू ठेवल्यामुळे वाढतो काय, असा सवालही व्यापाऱ्यांनी केला आहे.

सामूहिक आत्मदहनाची मागितली परवानगी
सहनशीलता संपली असून, दुकान उघडण्याचे आदेश जाहीर करा किंवा व्यापाऱ्यांना सामूहिक आत्मदहन करण्याची परवानगी द्या, असे निवेदन औरंगाबाद जिल्हाधिकारी कार्यालयात व्यापाऱ्यांनी दिले.
व्यापाऱ्यांच्या प्रमुख मागण्या
लॉकडाऊनऐवजी स्लो-डाऊन करा. खासगी कार्यालये, सरकारी कार्यालये आणि व्यापारी प्रतिष्ठानांच्या वेळा वेगवेगळ्या ठेवा.
व्यापारी प्रतिष्ठानांवरील गर्दी टाळण्यासाठी रात्री उशिरापर्यंत ती उघडी ठेवण्याची अनुमती द्या, म्हणजे मर्यादित वेळेत ती सुरू असल्याने होणारी गर्दी टाळता येईल.
खासगी कार्यालयांना कामांच्या वेळांमध्ये बदल करण्याचे, वेगवेगळ्या शिफ्ट करण्याचे आवाहन मी यापूर्वीच केलेले आहे. खरेतर, दुकाने चोवीस तास उघडी ठेवा, असे आवाहनही केले होते. जेणेकरून गर्दी कमी होईल. आताही दुकाने बंद करणे हा हेतू नाही, तर गर्दी टाळणे हा आहे. – उद्धव ठाकरे, मुख्यमंत्री
मला दोन दिवसांचा वेळ द्या, मी काही निर्णय घेतो. मात्र, कोरोनावर मात करणे सर्वांत महत्त्वाचे आहे. त्यासाठी आपलीही जबाबदारी आहे. आपण सगळे मिळून कोरोनाचा मुकाबला करू या, असे मुख्यमंत्री ठाकरे यांनी बैठकीत सांगितले. त्यामुळे दोन दिवसांत व्यापार क्षेत्राला काही दिलासा मिळेल, असा विश्वास आहे.

‘जीवाबरोबरच उपजीविकादेखील महत्त्वाची आहे, सध्या ‘ब्रेक दी चेन’ अंतर्गत आणलेल्या निर्बंधांमुळे व्यापार क्षेत्राचे कंबरडे मोडले आहे. पुढे सणवार आणि लग्नसराई आहे, व्यापार खुला राहिला पाहिजे, अशी भावना व्यापारी संघटनांच्या नेत्यांनी बैठकीत व्यक्त केली.

मुंबईत सोमवारपासून कडक निर्बंध जाहीर करण्यात आले आहेत. मात्र, ऑनलाइन पद्धतीने मागविलेले जेवण व अत्यावश्यक पुरवठ्याची घरपोच सेवा २४ तास सुरू राहणार आहे.

This is a warning to anyone who tries to cheat innocent people. Please don’t do it. You will get caught’, Sonu added. While the actor is very clear about how such miscreants will be treated, he is not averse to showing mercy. He says, ‘Come to me. I will give you a respectable job. Please don’t try to earn money by cheating people. It will never do you any good. Kissika dil dukhake aap khush nahin ho sakte (you can’t be happy when you hurt someone).’ As for the fraudster who was recently caught, Sonu feels more than punishment, he needs counselling. Sonu said, ‘His family should guide him. Restrain him from such wrongdoing. We should look within ourselves to see where we are going wrong in the upbringing of our young generations.’

Taking to Twitter, students have registered their protest using #cancelboardexams2021.
CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 practical exams for the affiliated schools have already started on March 1. The board has allowed the schools to hold the exams till June 11 while taking all the precautions.
CBSE further said that those students who are unable to appear for the practical exams due to being affected by COVID-19 will be allowed to re-appear for the exams later but before June 11.
“If any candidate is absent in practical because of being COVID positive or any family member – mother, father, brother, and sister, etc – is reported COVID positive, schools will conduct practical of such candidates at an appropriate time in consultation with the concerned regional officer but latest by June 11, 2021,” reads the official notification.
ICSE will hold the Class 12 exams from April 8 and Class 10 board exams from May 5.
Amid rising coronavirus cases, various states have started closing down their schools again. Schools in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Punja, Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh, Puducherry, Gujarat, Telangana, Chhattisgarh have been shut for junior classes to contain the spread of COVID-19.

Nagpur: District collector Ravindra Thakare has ordered a stop to all sales of liquor in the district from 8 pm of April 5, 2021, till further orders. Nagpur: The Nagpur District reported 3,758 new novels Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases and 57 more COVID-19 deaths on Tuesday. With 3,305 discharged patients in the day, the total recovered patients have crossed the 2 lakh mark and now stand at 2,01,916 (including home isolation recoveries).
With the latest update, the total number of cases has reached 2,48,883 while the number of deaths rose 5,438.
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah Television actor arrested Miraj Vallabhdas Kapri, who has played minor roles in popular shows like ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’, ‘Mere Angane Mein’, and ‘Thapki’, was arrested over theft charges on Monday.
Kapri’s desperate attempts at chain snatching were a result of losing millions to his addiction of cricket betting.
According to a report by News18, Kapri, along with his friend Vaibhav Babu Jadav began chain snatching on the streets of Mumbai to repay debts.
Both Vaibhav and Miraj were arrested by Mumbai Police after being tipped off by an informer. The officials recovered goods worth Rs 2.5 lakh 3 gold chains, 2 mobiles, and stolen bikes.
The two culprits are residents of Junagadh. Besides acting, Miraj was also a fitness trainer and lived in Andheri.

नागपूर :कोरोना विषाणू थेट फुफ्फुसांवर आघात करतो. हा विषाणू फुफ्फुसात घुसल्यानंतर गुणाकार पद्धतीने पसरतो. यामुळे रुग्णांना श्वास घेण्यास त्रास होतो. वैद्यकीय भाषेत याला ‘शॉर्टनेस ऑफ ब्रेथ’ असे संबोधले जाते. श्वास घेण्यास अडचण निर्माण झाल्याने शरीरातील ऑक्सिजनची पातळी अवघ्या दोन-तीन दिवसांत खालावते. यामुळे रुग्णाला ऑक्सिजन किंवा व्हेन्टिलेटरची गरज पडते. उपराजधानीतील मेडिकल, मेयोत वयाची पन्नाशी ओलांडल्या ७० टक्के रुग्णांना ऑक्सिजनची गरज पडत आहे. याला वैद्यकीय भाषेत ‘हायपॉक्सिया’ म्हणतात.
सामान्यपणे व्यक्तीच्या शरीरात ९५ ते ९९ टक्के ऑक्सिजन असतो. रक्तातील ऑक्सिजनचे प्रमाण ९० टक्क्यांपेक्षा कमी झालं तर श्वास घेण्यास त्रास सुरू होतो. येथील एका रुग्णाच्या शरीरातील ऑक्सिजनचे प्रमाण ८० टक्क्यांवर पोहोचले. मात्र, श्वास घेण्यास त्रास होत नव्हता. कोरोनाचे हे दुर्मिळ लक्षण असून ते घातक ठरू शकते. चोरपावलाने हळूहळू शरीरातील ऑक्सिजनची पातळी कमी होते. कळतही नाही मात्र याचे परिणाम गंभीर होतात.
आपल्या शरीरातील प्रत्येक पेशीला जिवंत राहण्यासाठी ऑक्सिजनची गरज असते. रक्तातून हा ऑक्सिजन प्रत्येक पेशीपर्यंत पोहोचवला जातो. हायपॉक्सिया म्हणजे रक्तातील ऑक्सिजनची पातळी कमी होणे. कोरोनाच्या रुग्णांमध्ये हे सामान्यपणे दिसून येते. यामुळे श्वास घेण्यास त्रास होत असल्याचे जाणवताच ‘पल्स ऑक्सिमीटर’च्या मदतीने आपण सहजतेने शरीरातील ऑक्सिजनची पातळी तपासू शकतो, असे मेडिकल-सुपर स्पेशालिटीचे श्वसनरोग प्रमुख डॉ. सुशांत मेश्राम म्हणाले.

नागपूर : गेल्या काही दिवसांपासून महाराष्ट्रासह देशात कोरोना विषाणूचा विळखा वाढतच चालला आहे. तर महाराष्ट्रातील मुंबई, पुण्यासह नागपूरही कोरोना विषाणूचं हॉटस्पॉट ठरत आहे. या शहरांत दररोज हजारोच्या संख्येनं नवीन कोरोना रुग्ण आढळत आहेत. त्यामुळे याचा प्रचंड ताण आरोग्य प्रशासनावर पडत आहे. परिणामी रुग्णांवर उपचार करताना प्रशासनाकडून त्यांची हेळसांड होतं आहे. ऑक्सिजनसोबतचं खाटांची कमतरता प्रशासनाला सतावत आहे. रुग्णालयात बेडची कमतरता असल्यानं दोन कोविड पॉझिटिव्ह रुग्णांना त्याचबरोबर कोविड संशयित रुग्णांनाही एकाच बेडवर उपचार केले जात आहेत.
राज्याची उपराजधानी नागपूरची आरोग्य यंत्रणाही याला अपवाद नाहीये. नागपूरमध्ये गेल्या काही दिवसांपासून कोरोना विषाणूने अक्षरशः हाहाकार उडवला आहे. नागपूरमध्ये दिवसाला तीन हजाराहून अधिक नव्या कोरोना रुग्णांची नोंद होतं आहे. याचा प्रचंड ताण नागपूर प्रशासनावर पडत आहे. ज्या रुग्णांना कोरोना विषाणूची सौम्य लक्षणं आहे. अशा रुग्णांना घरीच उपचार सुरू आहेत. मात्र ज्यांची प्रकृती अस्थिर आहे, अशाच रुग्णांना रुग्णालयात उपचार केले जात आहेत.
असं असतानाही नागपूर आरोग्य यंत्रणेला रुग्णांचा ताण सोसत नाहीये. नागपूरातील शासकीय महाविद्यालयात बेडच्या कमतरतेमुळं कोविड पॉझिटिव्ह आणि संशयित रुग्णांना एकाच बेडवर बसवून उपचार केले जात आहेत. त्यामुळे अनेक नागरिकांच्या जीवाशी खेळ केला जात आहे. नागपूरमध्ये बहुतांशी सरकारी रुग्णालयाची हीच स्थिती पाहाता नागरिकांमध्येही चितेंच वातावरण तयार होतं आहे.
देशातही कोरोना विषाणूची स्थिती भयानक बनत चालली आहे. नवीन रुग्ण सापडण्याच्या बाबतीत भारताने काल गेल्या वर्षातील सर्व विक्रम तोडले आहे. गेल्या चोवीस तासांत भारतामध्ये तब्बल 1,03,844 नव्या कोरोना रुग्णांची नोंद झाली आहे. भारत आता अमेरिकेनंतर जगातला दुसरा देश ठरला आहे, ज्याठिकाणी एका दिवशी कोरोनाचे एक लाखाहून अधिक कोरोना रुग्ण आढळले आहे. त्यामुळे आता जागोजागी कडक निर्बंध लादले जात आहे.

टाइम्सनाउने दिलेल्या वृत्तानुसार, तामिळनाडूच्या कोइंबतूरमध्ये 3 एप्रिल रोजी ही घटना घडली. पोलिसांनी अटक केलेल्या आरोपीचं नाव एस दिलीपकुमार असं आहे. २९ वर्षांचा दिलीपकुमार सोनार काम करतो. रात्री आरोपी सेल्वपुरम येथे मनोरुग्ण महिला रहात असलेल्या घरात गेला. ३० वर्षीय पीडित महिला एका शेडमध्ये राहते, तर त्याच आवारात मागे घरात अन्य कुटुंबिय राहतात. पकडले जाऊ नये यासाठी त्याने आपली गाडी पीडितेच्या घरापासून जवळपास २०० मीटर दूर उभी केली होती.
कुत्र्याने पकडली आरोपीची पँट :-
थोड्यावेळाने तिथे आलेल्या घरच्या पाळीव कुत्र्याला आरोपी दिलीपकुमार दिसला. कुत्र्याला बघून आरोपीने पळून जाण्याचा प्रयत्न केला. पण, कुत्र्याने त्याची पँक पकडली, रस्ता अडवला आणि आरोपीला हालचाल करू दिली नाही. कुत्र्याच्या भूंकण्याने आणि शेडमधील लाइट बंद असल्याचं बघून पीडितेचे कुटुंबिय शेडमध्ये गेले आणि त्यांनी आरोपीला बघितलं. तातडीने शेजरच्यांच्या मदतीने त्यांनी आरोपीला पकडून पोलिसांच्या ताब्यात दिलं.
मोबाइलमध्ये व्हिडिओ रेकॉर्डिंग
पोलिसांनी आरोपीला अटक करुन आयपीसी कलम 376 (2) (e) आणि 506 (i) अंतर्गत गुन्हा दाखल केला आहे. पोलिसांच्या तपासात आरोपीने मोबाइलमध्ये पीडितेचे अश्लील व्हिडिओ रेकॉर्ड केल्याचंही तपासात समोर आलं. तपासामध्ये आऱोपीने पीडित महिलेवर यापूर्वी दोनदा बलात्कार केल्याचं समोर आलं आहे. त्याने मोबाइलमध्येही घटनेचं रेकॉर्डिंग केलं होतं. पीडित महिला मनोरुग्ण असल्याने आरोपी आरामात पळून जाण्यात यशस्वी ठरत होता असं समजतंय. पण यावेळी पाळीव कुत्र्याच्या सतर्कतेमुळे आरोपीच्या मुसक्या आवळण्यात पोलिसांना यश आलं.

महाराष्ट्र लॉकडाऊन कोरोनाचा झपाट्याने वाढता संसर्ग रोखण्यासाठी राज्य मंत्रिमंडळाने महाराष्ट्रात शुक्रवार ते रविवार पूर्ण लॉकडाऊन आणि सोमवार ते शुक्रवार अंशतः लॉकडाऊन लावण्याचा निर्णय घेतला आहे.
त्यानुसार, सोमवारी 5 एप्रिल रात्री 8 पासून 30 एप्रिलपर्यंत या नव्या निर्बंधाची अंमलबजावणी करण्यात येणार आहे.
सदर निर्बंध लावतांना राज्याच्या अर्थचक्राला धक्का न लावणे तसेच कामगार व श्रमिकांना त्रास न होण्याची काळजी घेण्यात येणार असल्याचं राज्य शासनाने म्हटलं आहे.
आगामी काळात लोकांची गर्दी होणारी ठिकाणे बंद करण्यावर भर देण्यात येईल. शेतीविषयक कामे, सार्वजनिक व खासगी वाहतूक सुरळीतपणे सुरूच राहील. खासगी कार्यालयांनी वर्क फ्रॉम होमचा पर्याय सुचवण्यात आला आहे, तर उपाहारगृहे, चित्रपटगृहे, गर्दीची ठिकाणी बंद राहतील.
तर कोरोनाच्या वाढत्या रुग्णसंख्येमुळे येत्या 30 एप्रिलपर्यंत राज्यात कठोर निर्बंध लागू करण्यात आले आहेत, अशी माहिती आरोग्यमंत्री राजेश टोपे यांनी दिली आहे.
नागरिकांनी बंधनं पाळली नाहीत, तर प्रत्येकी 500 रुपये दंड करण्यात येईल, असंही टोपे यांनी म्हटलं आहे.
मुख्यमंत्री उद्धव ठाकरे यांनी बोलावलेल्या मंत्रिमंडळाच्या बैठकीनंतर ते बोलत होते.

शेती व शेतीविषयक कामे, अन्नधान्य व शेतमालाची वाहतूक नेहमीप्रमाणे सुरळीतपणे सुरू राहतील.
रात्री संचारबंदी, दिवसा जमावबंदी
राज्यात 144 कलम लागू केले जाईल.
सकाळी 7 ते रात्री 8 जमावबंदी म्हणजे 5 पेक्षा जास्त लोकांना एकत्र येण्यास मनाई असेल.
रात्री 8 ते सकाळी 7 वाजेपर्यंत कोणत्याही व्यक्तीस योग्य कारणाशिवाय बाहेर पडता येणार नाही.
यातून वैद्यकीय व इतर अत्यावश्यक सेवा वगळण्यात येतील.
बागा, चौपाट्या, समुद्र किनारे आदी सार्वजनिक ठिकाणे रात्री 8 ते सकाळी 7 वाजेपर्यंत पूर्णतः बंद राहतील.
दिवसा या सार्वजनिक ठिकाणी लोक आरोग्याचे नियम न पाळता गर्दी करत आहेत, असं निदर्शनास आल्यास स्थानिक प्रशासन ते पूर्णपणे बंद करू शकतं.
आवश्यक सेवेतील दुकानेच सुरु राहतील
किराणा, औषधे, भाजीपाला आदी जीवनावश्यक व आवश्यक वस्तू सोडून इतर सर्व प्रकारची दुकाने, मॉल्स, बाजारपेठा 30 एप्रिलपर्यंत बंद राहतील.
सर्व प्रकारची वाहतूक नियमितपणे सुरू राहणार
सार्वजनिक व खासगी अशी सर्व प्रकारची वाहतूक नियमितपणे सुरूच राहील.
रिक्षांमध्ये चालक व दोन प्रवासी, टॅक्सीमध्ये चालक आणि निश्चित केलेल्या प्रवाशांपैकी 50 टक्के प्रवासी प्रवास करू शकतील.
सार्वजनिक व खासगी बसेसमध्ये उभे राहून प्रवास करता येणार नाही.
आसनांवर बसलेल्या प्रवाशांनाच परवानगी आहे. प्रवाशांनी मास्क घातलेला हवा.
बस चालक, वाहक व इतर कर्मचारी यांनी आपले लसीकरण पूर्ण करावे किंवा कोरोना निगेटिव्ह प्रमाणपत्र बाळगावे.
बाहेरगावी जाणाऱ्या रेल्वेमध्ये सर्वसाधारण डब्यात उभ्याने प्रवासी असू नयेत तसेच प्रवासी मास्क घालतील याची काळजी रेल्वे प्रशासनाने घ्यायची आहे.
वित्तीय सेवा सोडून इतर खासगी कार्यालये बंद
खासगी कार्यालयांनी पूर्णपणे वर्क फ्रॉम होम करणे बंधनकारक राहील.
केवळ बँका, स्टॉक मार्केट, विमा, औषधी, मेडिक्लेम, दूरसंचार, अशी वित्तीय सेवा देणारी तसेच स्थानिक आपत्ती व्यवस्थापन,
वीज, पाणी पुरवठा करणारी कार्यालये मात्र सुरू राहतील.
लॉकडाऊन महाराष्ट्र शासकीय कार्यालये- 50 टक्के उपस्थितीत
शासकीय कार्यालये जी थेट कोरोनाशी संबंधित नाहीत तेथील कर्मचारी उपस्थिती 50 टक्के मर्यादेपर्यंत राहील.
शासकीय कार्यालयांत अभ्यागतांना प्रवेश नसेल.
आवश्यक असेल तर कार्यालय किंवा विभाग प्रमुखाचा प्रवेश पास लागेल.
कार्यालयांतील बैठका ऑनलाईनद्वारे घ्याव्यात.
केवळ कार्यालय परिसरातल्या कर्मचाऱ्यांना बैठकीस प्रत्यक्ष उपस्थित राहता येईल.
मनोरंजन, सलून्स बंद
मनोरंजन व करमणुकीची स्थळे बंद राहतील.
चित्रपटगृहे, मल्टिप्लेक्स, नाट्यगृहे, व्हिडीओ पार्लर्स, क्लब्स, जलतरण तलाव, क्रीडा संकुले, सभागृहे, वॉटर पार्क्स पूर्णपणे बंद राहतील.
प्रार्थना स्थळे बंद
सर्वधर्मीयांची स्थळे, प्रार्थना स्थळे बाहेरून येणारे भक्त व दर्शनार्थीसाठी बंद राहतील.
मात्र, याठिकाणी काम करणारे कर्मचारी , पुजारी वगैरे यांना दैनंदिन पूजा अर्चा करता येईल.
या कर्मचाऱ्यांचे लसीकरण देखील लवकरात लवकर पूर्ण करून घ्यावे.
उपाहारगृहे व बार पूर्णतः बंद
उपाहारगृहे व बार पूर्णतः बंद राहतील.
पण उपाहारगृह एखाद्या हॉटेलचा भाग असेल तर ते तेथे राहणाऱ्या अभ्यागातासाठीच सुरू ठेवता येईल, बाहेरील व्यक्तीसाठी प्रवेश असणार नाही.
टेक-अवे किंवा पार्सलची सेवा सकाळी 7 ते रात्री 8 या वेळेत सुरू राहील.
खाद्य विक्रेत्यांसाठी पार्सल सेवा
रस्त्याच्या कडेला असणाऱ्या खाद्य विक्रेत्यांना सकाळी 7 ते रात्री 8 केवळ पार्सल सेवेसाठी व्यवसाय सुरू ठेवता येईल.
पार्सलची वाट पाहणाऱ्या ग्राहकांना सुरक्षित अंतर नियमांचे पालन करावे लागेल.
नियमांचे पालन होत नसल्याचं दिसल्यास स्थानिक प्रशासन ते पूर्णपणे बंद करेल.
ई-कॉमर्स सेवा सुरू
ई-कॉमर्स सेवा नियमितपणे सकाळी 7 ते रात्री 8 या वेळेत सुरूच राहील.
होम डिलिव्हरी देणाऱ्या कर्मचाऱ्यांचे लसीकरण झालेले असणे अत्यावश्यक आहे.
अन्यथा त्या व्यक्तीस 1000 रुपये आणि संबधित दुकान किंवा संस्थेस 10 हजार रुपये दंड ठोठावण्यात येईल.
सर्व कटिंग सलून्स, ब्युटी पार्लर्स, स्पा बंद राहतील.
याठिकाणच्या कर्मचाऱ्यांनी देखील लवकरात लवकर लसीकरण पूर्ण करावं.

वृत्तपत्रे छपाई आणि वितरण नेहमीप्रमाणे सुरू ठेवण्यात येईल.
पण विक्रेत्यांनी लसीकरण करून घ्यावी, अशी सूचना देण्यात आली आहे.
शाळा-महाविद्यालये बंद
शाळा-महाविद्यालये बंद राहतील. मात्र 10 वी आणि 12 वी परीक्षांचा त्यांना अपवाद असेल.
याशिवाय, सर्व खासगी क्लासेस बंद राहतील.
उद्योग व उत्पादन क्षेत्र सुरू
उद्योग व उत्पादन क्षेत्र सुरूच राहील, मात्र याठिकाणी आरोग्याचे नियम पाळले गेले पाहिजेत, याची काळजी घ्यावी.
चित्रपटांचं चित्रीकरण सुरू ठेवता येईल, पण जास्त गर्दी करता येणार नाही.
सर्व कर्मचारी व चित्रीकरण स्थळावरील लोकांची RTPCR चाचणी प्रमाणपत्र बंधनकारक आहे.

लॉकडाऊन महाराष्ट्र आजारी कामगाराला काढता येणार नाही
बांधकामे सुरू असलेल्या ठिकाणी मजूर, कामगारांनी राहणे गरजेचे आहे.
केवळ साहित्याची वाहतूक करण्यासाठी परवानगी देण्यात येईल.
कोणत्याही कामगारास कोव्हिडची लागण झाली यामुळे त्याला काढून टाकता येणार नाही.
संबंधित कर्मचाऱ्याला आजारी रजा द्यावी लागेल. तसंच त्यादरम्यान त्याला पूर्ण पगार देणं बंधनकारक आहे.
कामगारांची आरोग्य तपासणी करण्याची जबाबदारी ठेकेदाराकडे असेल.
…तर सोसायटी मिनी कंटेन्मेंट
5 पेक्षा जास्त रुग्ण एखाद्या सोसायटीत आढळल्यास ती इमारत मिनी कंटेन्मेंट म्हणून घोषित करण्यात येईल.
त्या सोसायटींच्या बाहेर तसा फलक लावण्यात येईल.
संबंधित सोसायटींमध्ये बाहेरच्या लोकांना प्रवेश बंदी असेल.
NAGPUR: The number of patients recovering from Covid-19 in Vidarbha rose for the third consecutive day on Saturday. In all, 6,448 patients recovered in a day, which is the highest ever for the region. The number of new cases, which surpassed the 8,000 marks on Friday, reduced to 7,643.
Overall deaths too came down to 81. All the districts, except Gondia, reported deaths on Saturday which is a matter of concern. The toll is 9,106. On Saturday, Nagpur (47) reported the highest deaths followed by Yavatmal (9), Buldhana (2), Wardha (5), Akola (6), Amravati (5), Bhandara (4), Chandrapur (1), and Gadchiroli (2).
Vidarbha’s total Covid-19 caseload is all set to cross the 5 lakh mark. With 4.98 lakh total cases on Saturday, 4.19 lakh have recovered. Vidarbha’s recovery rate is 83.8% which is lower than the state and national average. The number of total tests came down to 43,830 on Saturday. This number was more than 50,000 in the last two days.
As far as Nagpur district is concerned, 15,593 tests were conducted. The district reported 47 deaths, including 25 from Nagpur city and 17 from rural. Five patients referred from other states/regions died in a day on Friday in Nagpur. The total death toll of Nagpur is 5,265 which is almost 58% of the total deaths in Vidarbha.
Nagpur reported 3,720 new cases and 3,660 recoveries on Saturday, more than 3,500 recovered for the second day in a row in the district.
Now, 71,037 patients are under treatment in the Vidarbha region, which is a record for the region so far. Barring Gadchiroli, all districts have more than 1,500 patients under treatment. In the Amravati division, all five districts have more than 3,000 patients under treatment. However, the good news is that the number of under-treatment patients is constantly declining in Amravati and Akola. In Nagpur, 40,820 patients are still under treatment, which is a record.
Akola: The district reported six deaths. All deceased were above 60 years of age. This took Akola’s total Covid-19 toll to 468. With 290 new cases and 593 recoveries, Akola’s total caseload is now 28,565 and recoveries 23,382. A total of 4,715 patients is under treatment. The number of under-treatment patients was under 5,000 for the first time in the last two weeks in Akola. A total of 2,624 tests was conducted in the last 24 hours.
Buldhana: Out of the 5,117 tests, 929 tested positive in Buldhana on Saturday. Buldhana’s total Covid-19cases surpassed the 40,000 marks. With this, Buldhana became the third district in Vidarbha to have more than 40,000 Covid-19 cases after Nagpur and Amravati. With 709 patients recovering in a day, a total of 33,791 of them have recovered. Total, 5,981patients are under treatment in Buldhana.
Washim: With 262 new cases, 244 recoveries, and no death on Saturday, Washim’s total Covid-19 caseload reached 16,961, including 14,096 recoveries and 189 deaths so far. A senior citizen patient died in Washim on Friday. Now, a total of 2,675 patients is under treatment.
Gadchiroli: The district reported 2 deaths in a day – which is for the first time in 2021. A 30-year-old man from Alapalli and a 65-year-old man from Chimur died on Saturday. Gadchiroli reported 63 new cases and 56 recoveries in a day. Now, total cases of the district have reached 10,866 and 10,218 of them have recovered. Gadchiroli has 535 patients under treatment, which is the lowest in Maharashtra.
Bhandara: Breaking all past records, Bhandara district reported 846 new cases of Covid-19 in a day on Saturday. With this, the total caseload surpassed the 20,000 marks in the district. On the other hand, 218 patients recovered. Bhandara reported 4 deaths in a day for the first time in the present surge. With a total of 351 deaths to date, the district now has 4,379 patients under treatment.
Gondia: The district reported 256 new cases, a record in this spike. No death was reported. Gondia now has 16,692 cases, 15,241 recoveries, and 192 deaths due to Covid-19. A total of 1,259 patients are under treatment.
Amravati: Five deaths and 325 new cases took the Covid-19 toll of the district to 686 and caseload to 49,523 respectively. Recoveries were just 178 and took the total to 45,544. This left 3,293 active cases under treatment.
Chandrapur: In all, 335 new cases were detected, while one death was registered on Saturday taking the Covid total to 28,742 and toll up to 432 on Saturday. There were 191 patients discharged during the day leading the total recoveries to 25,760. There are 2,550 active patients under treatment in the district.
Yavatmal: The death toll of Yavatmal is on an upward trend again. With 9 deaths reported on Saturday, the district has a casualty of 679 due to Covid-19 so far. The administration has received 4,917 test reports on Saturday of which 450 (300 men and 150 women) were found positive while the remaining 4,467 were negative.
Currently, there are 3,136 active positive patients of whom 1,310 are undergoing treatment in hospitals and 1,826 are in-home quarantine. Out of 30,226 positive patients treated in the district so far, 26,414, including 351 of Saturday have recovered and discharged from hospitals. The district has a positive rate of 10.74 % while the death rate is 2.24 %.
Wardha: With five more deaths on Saturday, the district had 167 new cases, taking the caseload to 19,548. Meanwhile, 198 patients were discharged and total recoveries reached 17,396. There are 1,695 active positive patients.

Maharashtra Board NAGPUR: The state’s school education department has decided to promote students of Std I-VIII without exams due to the current Covid-19 crisis. As per existing rules, the Right To Education (RTE) Act prohibits holding back students till at least Std VIII, though an exam needs to be taken. For Std IX and XI, which are outside the purview of the no-fail policy, the state government will be taking a decision soon.
Maharashtra Board “All students till Std VIII will be promoted automatically to the next academic level. We have been reaching out to students through various mediums for ensuring that their education does not stop,” said school education minister Varsha Gaikwad.
Even last year the government had allowed the promotion of students till Std VIII as schools were closed and the entire country was under a strict lockdown. For the state’s board exams, the timetable has already been announced and the minister has ruled out any chance of online exams. Last week, Gaikwad said, “Due to various technical issues, conducting online board exams across the state won’t be possible. Offline exams will be conducted by following strict safety protocols.”
The state government has announced a slew of sops for students, including extra time during board theory papers plus a guaranteed second chance to those who miss out because of being either Covid-19 positive or unable to reach the center due to local restrictions.

With 1,03,558 fresh Covid cases, India has seen the biggest-ever daily surge, taking the tally to 1,25,89,067. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday held a high-level meet to review the situation; central teams have been rushed to three states.
PM Modi, in a tweet after the review meeting, said: “Reviewed the COVID-19 and vaccination-related situation across the country. Reiterated the importance of the five-fold strategy of testing, tracing, treatment, Covid-appropriate behavior, and vaccination is an effective way to fight the global pandemic. (sic)”
The sharp rise in cases could be “mainly attributed to the severe decline in compliance of Covid-appropriate behavior primarily in terms of use of masks and maintaining ‘2 gaj ki doori’ (six-feet distance), pandemic fatigue and lack of effective implementation of containment measures at the field-level,” a government statement said on Sunday after the Prime Minister’s meet.
As India battles the second Covid wave, Maharashtra, the worst-hit state in the country, saw the highest-ever daily surge with 57,074 fresh infections on Sunday. Mumbai, India’s financial capital, also saw the highest-ever single-day spike with 11,163 new infections, taking the city’s tally to 4,52,445 cases.
The Uddhav Thackeray government on Sunday announced new restrictions including a night curfew in the state and a “strict lockdown” over the weekends from Friday 8 pm to Monday 7 am amid the unprecedented Covid surge.
The central government has decided to send teams to Maharashtra, Punjab, and Chhattisgarh because of the high number of fresh daily cases and the disproportionate number of deaths.
Delhi also recorded a huge spike of 4,000 fresh infections taking the Covid tally to 6.76,414 infections. This is the highest daily surge this year. It was one of the top five states that reported the highest number of cases in the last 24 hours.
Chhattisgarh (5,250), Karnataka (4,553), and Uttar Pradesh (4,136) are the other three states that saw the biggest spike in cases in the last 24 hours, the government data shows.
The last time India recorded the biggest surge in daily infections was on September 17 when 97,894 infections were recorded in a day.
The surge in cases comes ahead of polling in four states – Assam, Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala – and Pondicherry, a union territory. The Election Commission has ensured Covid protocols are strictly followed at polling booths.

“One kilogram of this vegetable costs about ₹1 lakh! World’s costliest vegetable,’hop-shoots’ is being cultivated by Amresh Singh, an enterprising farmer from Bihar, the first one in India. Can be a game changer for Indian farmers,” IAS officer Supriya Sahu had tweeted on March 31. The tweet received over 24,000 “likes” and was retweeted over 5,000 times.
A team from Hindi newspaper visited the Bihar village of Amresh Singh, the man at the heart of the story, on Friday, and found that no such crop was being grown there. Local people said they had never heard of such a crop being grown in the area, according to the report. Contacted on phone, Mr. Singh reportedly said crop was in Nalanda district, about 172 km away. When the newspaper team went to Naladna, he said the crop is in Aurangabad.
Saurabh Jorwal, District Magistrate of Aurangabad, told the team, “Some officials from Patna asked about the hop shoots crop. There is no such cultivation in Aurangabad district.” According to hindi newspaper, Amresh Singh has grown black rice and wheat in the past but not hop shoots.
What are hop shoots? The hop – called humulus lupulus – is a perennial plant. A native of North America and Europe, hop shoots were believed to be a weed until its properties were known. According to the website agrifarming.in, hop shoots have ”antibacterial effects” and are used for ”bittering”, ”flavouring” and as a ”stability agent in beer”.

कोरोनावर एका नावाने आयुर्वेदिक औषध डॉ. सारंग फडके यांनी तयार केले आहे. कोरोनावर या औषधामुळे 100 टक्के रामबाण उपाय होत असल्याचा दावा त्यांच्याकडून करण्यात आला आहे. विशेष म्हणजे गेल्या वर्षीपासून आपल्याकडे येणाऱ्या रुग्णांना डॉ. फडके हे औषध देत असून, हे रुग्ण बरे झाल्याचा दावा केला आहे. तसेच या औषधाबाबत त्यांनी आयुष मंत्रालयाशी संपर्क साधून, या औषधाची दखल घेण्याची विनंती केली आहे.
आपण हे औषध आतापर्यंत 100 पेक्षा जास्त कोरोना रुग्णांना दिले असून, ते 100 टक्के कोरोनामुक्त झाल्याचा दावा डॉ. फडके यांनी केला आहे. हे औषध 1 वर्षांच्या मुलापासून 78 वर्षांच्या कोरोनाबाधिताला देण्यात आले आहे. डॉ. फडके हे या औषधाला मान्यता मिळावी म्हणून गेल्या वर्षभरापासून केंद्र सरकारच्या आयुष मंत्रालयाशी पाठपुरावा करत आहेत. पण केंद्राने अद्याप त्यांची दखल घेतली नाही.
हे औषध आयुर्वेदिक असून त्याचे कुठलेही साईड इफेक्ट्स नसल्याचे फडके यांचे म्हणणे आहे. त्यामुळे या औषधाला जर सरकारने मान्यता दिली तर कोरोना रुग्णांचा आकडा आणि मृत्यूदर कमी करण्यास मदत होईल असे डॉ. सारंग फडके यांचे म्हणणे आहे.
हा दावा जरी डॉक्टर सारंग फडके यांनी केला असला, तरी कोणत्याही औषधाला सहजासहजी परवानगी मिळत नाही. जगभरात कोरोनासारख्या थैमान घालणाऱ्या आजारावर जगभरात औषध शोधले जात आहेत. हा संसर्ग पसरल्यानंतर जवळपास वर्षभराने भारतात लस उपलब्ध झाल्यामुळे डॉ. सारंग फडके यांच्या औषधाची वैद्यकीय पडताळणी किंवा तत्सम चाचण्या कशा होणार, कोण करणार हा प्रश्न आहे.
Coronavirus: While the novel coronavirus is a respiratory illness that spares no one, the risk of contracting the infection may vary from person to person. As per a recent study, a range of new risk factors linked to an increased risk of COVID-19 infections has come to the surface, which can now determine who is more susceptible to the deadly virus.
The study
According to a recent study published in the journal PLoS ONE, those with Type II diabetes and a high body mass index (BMI) are at a greater risk of experiencing severe complications related to Covid-19.
The study, conducted by the researchers at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, looked into data from the UK Biobank of 500,000 British volunteers over age 40. After examining the health conditions of the people who had tested positive for the virus, the researchers compared them to the health factors of those who had tested negative.
They found that people who had tested positive for COVID-19 were more likely to be obese or were suffering from Type II diabetes. On the contrary, individuals who have tested negative had high levels of good HDL cholesterol and ideal weight.
According to Charles Hong, MD, Ph.D., professor of medicine and director of cardiology research at the University of Medicine School of Medicine and the author of the study, “Certain baseline cardiometabolic factors appear to either protect a person from Covid-19 infection while others make a person more vulnerable to infection.”
“But this study wasn’t designed to determine what factors actually cause Covid-19 infections. These are statistical associations that point to the importance of a healthy functioning immune system for protecting against Covid-19 infection,” he added.
What to do?
The research also highlighted certain measures that people can take to reduce their chances of developing severe COVID-19 infections.
Dr. Hong said, “Our findings point to some healthy measures people can take to help potentially lower their risk of Covid-19 infection.”
“Controlling body weight is very important during this time, and measures to increase HDL levels like regular exercise and a diet rich in monounsaturated fats like extra virgin olive oil and avocados might be helpful too,” he noted.

येत्या काही दिवसात मी तज्ज्ञांशी, पत्रकारांशी बोलेन. मला वेगळा उपाय काय तो सांगा. लॉकडाऊन हा उपाय नाही मान्य. पण संसर्गाची साखळी तोडायची कशी? लसीकरण वाढवा म्हणता, तो वाढवतोच आहे. पण लसीने कोरोना होत नाही असं नाही. जर ही परिस्थिती अशीच राहिली तर आपल्याला परत लॉकडाऊन करायचा की काय ही शक्यता आहे. ती अजूनही टळलेली नाही, असं मुख्यमंत्री म्हणाले.
कोरोनाच्या उद्रेकामुळे महाराष्ट्र लॉकडाऊनच्या उंबरठ्यावर आहे. एकीकडे पुण्यात मिनी लॉकडाऊन लावण्यात आला आहे. पुण्यात 7 दिवसांसाठी निर्बंध घालण्यात आले आहेत. पुण्यात संध्याकाळी सहा ते सकाळी सहा वाजेपर्यंत संचारबंदी असेल, तर दिवसा जमावबंदी लावण्यात आली आहे.
लॉकडाऊन पर्याय नाही मान्य, मग करायचं काय तो पर्याय सांगा
कडक निर्बंध लावावे लागतील, उद्या परवा जाहीर करु, गर्दी टाळावी लागेल, ऑफिसेसना नियमावली हवी, बसना नियम, रेल्वे, बस तुडुंब आहेत. परिस्थिती हाताबाहेर गेली तर ब्राझीलसारखा शुकशुकाट दिसेल. रोजगारही गेला आणि जीवही गेला. तसं होऊ नये. येत्या दोन तीन दिवसात मी पुन्हा बोलेन. मी तज्ज्ञांशी बोलेन, मला पर्याय सांगा, लॉकडाऊन पर्याय नाही मान्य, मग करायचं काय जरुर सांगा, असं आवाहन मुख्यमंत्र्यांनी केलं.

पहिला जीव वाचवायचा आहे, आज इशारा देतोय, पूर्ण लॉकडाऊनचा, दोन दिवसात दृश्य परिणाम दिसला नाही, किंवा दुसरा पर्याय मिळाला नाही, तर जगामध्ये जे सुरु आहे, पहिला लॉकडाऊन, दुसरा लॉकडाऊन होतोय.. त्यामुळे आता ठरवायला हवं, ही लाट मी रोखेनच पण पुढची लाट येऊ देणार नाही, असं मुख्यमंत्री म्हणाले.
