Itwari market will remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays

Itwari market will remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays

Nagpur: The grocery shops at Itwari Maskasath market will remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays whereas on other days the shops will remain open from 9 am to 4 pm as the city is under strict restriction.

This decision was taken by Itwari Kirana Merchants Association. The president of the association Prakashchandra Goyal has expressed the concern over rising Covid cases in the city. He said from Monday to Friday the supply of essential commodities will continue for the people. Goyal has also appealed to the traders to follow government’s guidelines that have been issued to curb the Covid cases.

Lockdown: Citizens continue to flout norms on day 1 of curfew.

day 1 of curfew

Lockdown On Thursday, the first day of the curfew imposed by the Maharashtra government against the backdrop of increasing coronavirus cases, free movement of citizens was seen in major cities across the state, including Mumbai. Most of the shops were open in the morning markets. The shops that had locks on their front gate were operating from their back door. Many fruit and vegetable vendors lined the streets. With few exceptions, even the police were not seen intercepting civilians on the streets.

The metropolitan Mumbai was seen running as usual till half past noon. Small markets and shops, including all the major markets, were in full swing. Dadar Market, as usual, had the appearance of a fair. BEST buses and local trains were running with full capacity. Although there was no usual crowd at the important railway stations including Byculla, Kurla, Ghatkopar and Andheri, there was a question as to where the curfew was.

In the afternoon, however, the traffic became thin on the roads. Nagpur, Amravati, Pune, Ahmednagar and other cities with the highest covid cases were not much different. Despite the second day of curfew in Pune city, the road congestion remained.

The police were also not seen intercepting anyone. So it didn’t look like there wwas any curfew the name of the curfew was such a picture. The markets in Nagpur were crowded as usual. Road congestion was also seen in Aurangabad and Nanded.

Lockdown In Kolhapur, Satara city, the police took punitive action against those who went out without any reason, but the citizens were seen walking around without any reason.

How will the corona wave go?

-“Despite the curfew, people are still on the streets. The curfew will be strictly enforced from Friday and whoever it is will be dealt with strictness,” Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Vijay Wadettiwar told reporters here on Thursday.
– He also warned to close petrol, grocery and vegetable shops if necessary.
– Wadettiwar said that the local service, which is the lifeline of Mumbai, will continue. But, it is only for essential services.
– The government is considering the option of keeping the petrol pump closed or giving petrol-diesel only to the person in the essential service who has the letter of the concerned authority.
– There are also plans to further limit the time of vegetable and grocery stores. If people are crowding, then we have to consider closing it tomorrow. Discussions are underway on how to make stricter rules in this regard.

Govt departments,

Govt departments Amidst an exponential growth in COVID-19 infections being reported in the country, various ministries of the Government of India have advised their employees to work from home and officers above the Under Secretary rank have been asked to report to the office in staggered timings.

Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Information and Broadcasting Ministry, and the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution has asked its officers to reach the office with staggered timings. Those who are living in COVID-19 containment zones can avoid coming to the office.

Earlier, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) in February had already asked its staff to work from home with restricted required attendance.

Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has given three-time slots for officers to work, from 9 am to 5:30 pm, 9:30 am to 6 pm and 10 am to 6:30 pm.

The Ministry has also said that similar practices mat followed by autonomous bodies, media units, and PSUs.

Similarly, the MHA in the latest written communication has said that all officers who attend office can stagger timings with entry into the office spread between 9 am to 10 am with corresponding office exit timings. This will also avoid the rush in commuting, as also in lifts and corridors.

Up to the Under-Secretary level, officers are allowed to work from home up to a minimum restricted attendance but above Under-Secretary there is no exemption from coming from the office.

DoPT in its circular dated February 13, 2021, has already said that no biometric attendance should be taken and also as far as possible meetings should be done virtually.

Officers residing in the containment zone should be work from home until their area de-notifies but must be available on phone and all means of communication.

Govt departments According to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s office memorandum, all the Director/Deputy Directors have to prepare a roster to ensure that fifty percent of Group B and C employees may attend office every day and the remaining fifty percent staff be advised to work from home, adding that attendance of one person per section should be maintained.

The memorandum further directed officials working from home to be available on the telephone or electronic means of communication at all times and further said that these officials should attend office if called for an exigency of work.

Govt departments Stating that the working hours for all employees attending office should be staggered, the memorandum further suggested that three groups of employees may be formed and asked to attend office in the following timings – 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, 9:30 am to 6:00 pm and 10:00 am to 6: 30 pm.

Dr. Reddy’s Lab launches vaccine Sputnik V in India for Rs. 995.4 per dose

Delhi HC says its conscience is shaken, dismisses bail plea of gun-toting riot accused.

Delhi HC says its conscience is shaken

The court also said that whether or not he had the intention to kill the police official or any other person with his “open-air pistol shots, it is hard to believe that he had no knowledge that his act may harm anyone present at the spot.”

The Delhi Court on Thursday dismissed the bail plea of Shahrukh Pathan, who is accused of brandishing a pistol towards a head constable and firing 3-4 rounds of shots towards people during the protests which took place in Northeast Delhi in February 2020.

“The role attributed to the petitioner is not confined to participation in the mob of rioters but of heading the large crowd, holding a pistol in hand and releasing open fire shots. The video clipping and pictures played before this Court have shaken the conscience of this court as to how petitioner could take law and order in his hands,” said Justice Suresh Kumar Kait in the order.

The court also said that whether or not he had the intention to kill the police official or any other person with his “open-air pistol shots, it is hard to believe that he had no knowledge that his act may harm anyone present at the spot.”

“The worthiness of complainant’s statement recorded under Section 161 CrPC and petitioner’s claim that he had not aimed pistol to shot at the complainant, shall be tested at the trial,” said the court further.

“In the opinion of this Court, the learned trial court has rightly held that the petitioner is alleged to have participated in the riots and his picture speaks volumes about his involvement,” reads the order.

Pathan was arrested on March 3 last year from Shamli Uttar Pradesh. His counsel had argued before the court that he has been made a scapegoat and poster boy of the riots which is against his fundamental rights.

Fast and Furious 9 new trailer: Vin Diesel vs John Cena , watch

Fast and Furious 9

Fast and Furious 9 stars Vin Diesel, John Cena, Michelle Rodriguez, Charlize Theron, Helen Mirren among others. The film is scheduled to release on July 8.

The new trailer of Fast and Furious 9 is out and it looks like an action-packed film, much like the previous installments of the franchise. While the previous trailer, that released in early 2020, already told us that John Cena is playing Vin Diesel’s arch-enemy and brother Jakob, this new trailer ups the ante.

The action here is enough to get you excited for those cinema hall days that were meant for films as big as this one.

Watch the new trailer of Fast and Furious 9 here:

Charlize Theron is reprising her role of cyber-terrorist Cipher and Helen Mirren is playing Magdalene Shaw, the mother of Jason Statham’s character Deckard Shaw. She also appeared in 2019’s Hobbes and Shaw. Michelle Rodriguez returns as Letty and Jordana Brewster are back as Mia Toretto.

Justin Lin is directing the film. He previously directed the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth installment of the franchise.

Cena previously told Entertainment Weekly, “There are countless ways to describe the upside of an opportunity like this. They have a way of weaving this family narrative and making it a truly successful and globally reaching franchise. They’re also known for delivering the larger-than-life action and continue to outdo themselves, but they never shy away from the story and the narrative that they’ve developed.”

Fast and Furious 9 was set to release in May 2020 but was postponed due to the pandemic. The new release date of the film is July 8.

IPL: Angry Virat Kohli Hits Chair After Being Dismissed for 33 off 29 vs SRH

IPL: Angry Virat Kohli

IPL 2021; Angry Virat Kohli was seen on camera hitting the boundary rope and chair near the dugout as he walked back to post his dismissal

An angry Virat Kohli was seen on camera hitting the boundary rope and chair near the dugout as he walked back to post his dismissal in Royal Challengers Bangalore’s IPL 2021 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Chennai on Wednesday. Kohli was out for 33 off 29, caught well in the deep by Vijay Shankar off Jason Holder.

SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) bowlers, led by Jason Holder (3/30) and Rashid Khan (2/18), restricted RCB to 149/8 in their 20 overs.

At 91/2 in 12 overs, it looked like the RCB trio Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell — both of who were batting at the crease — and AB de Villiers would take the attack to SRH.

However, led by Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid, SRH conceded just 19 runs in the next five overs while picking five wickets. Rashid took two wickets for seven runs in his two overs in that phase.

Some power-hitting by Glenn Maxwell (59 off 41 balls) and some lusty blows by Kyle Jamieson (12 off 9 balls) took RCB to their eventual score of 149 for eight.

Maxwell, who was the top scorer for his team, was dismissed on the last ball of the innings. He hit three sixes and five fours after having walked in to bat at No. 4.

IPL 2021 Skipper Virat Kohli made his second successive score of 33 off 29 balls.

For SRH, West Indian Jason Holder, who got the prized scalps of Virat Kohli and Maxwell, was the most successful bowler with 3/30 in four overs.

Rashid, who dismissed the RCB trump card AB de Villiers (1 off 5 balls), finished with 2/18 in his four overs.

Brief scores: Royal Challengers Bangalore 149/8 in 20 overs (G Maxwell 59, V Kohli 33, J Holder 3/30, R Khan 2/18) vs SunRisers Hyderabad.

Samsung to launch

Samsung will be hosting another Galaxy Unpacked 2021 event on April 28th where the company will be launching “the most powerful Galaxy yet”. The announcement of the event on Samsung’s official website included a short teaser video that did not give us any clue about what this powerful Galaxy device could be. In fact, this may not be a smartphone as Samsung has already launched the Galaxy S21 series with the Snapdragon 888 chipset. The only Galaxy device that could be more powerful than a smartphone would be the rumored Galaxy Book Pro laptop.

The Galaxy Book Pro and Galaxy Book Pro 360 have been in the news lately and are currently the favorites to be announced on April 28th. Renders of both the notebooks leaked out a few weeks ago courtesy of tipster Evan Blass. Earlier this week, we spotted the Galaxy Book Pro and Galaxy Book Pro 360 on the SafetyKorea website with live images.

Based on what we know so far, the Samsung Galaxy Book Pro and Galaxy Book Pro 360 will be powered by 11th-Gen Intel chipsets, which would make them the most powerful Galaxy devices yet. The Galaxy Book Pro 360 is tipped to come with support for the S Pen and the laptops will be offered in 13-inch and 15-inch screen sizes. We expect to learn more about the laptops on April 28th, unless Samsung has a completely new device in store for us.

Tests conducted so far

India has tested 26,06,18,866 samples for Covid-19 until now, said the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

Among these, 14,11,758 samples were tested on Tuesday.

Covid vaccines in India: In a nutshell

The country has so far administered 11,11,79,578 anti-Covid jabs.

The Drugs Control General of India has permitted the emergency use of Covid vaccine Sputnik V with certain conditions, clearing the way for the third vaccine in addition to Covishield and Covaxin. Besides, the government on Tuesday also fast-tracked emergency approval for other jabs.

Here is what the vaccines are all about:

COVAXIN

Manufactured by Bharat Biotech in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research and the National Institute of Virology, it uses an inactivated virus. It is developed by chemically treating novel coronavirus samples to make them incapable of reproduction.

Given as two doses four weeks apart, the therapeutic can be stored between 2-8 degrees Celsius. Preliminary data from its phase 3 trial shows the vaccine has an efficacy rate of 81%.

COVISHIELD

Co-developed by the University of Oxford and British-Swedish company AstraZeneca and known as Covishield in India, the vaccine uses a viral vector, an engineered version of adenoviruses that infect chimpanzees to carry the gene responsible for the spike protein of the novel coronavirus.

It requires two doses given four weeks apart to produce the desired effects. The vaccine has an efficacy of 70% after the first dose. Global clinical trials of the vaccine showed that when people were given a half dose and then a full dose, effectiveness hit 90%. It can also be safely stored at 2-8 degrees Celsius.

SPUTNIK V

Sputnik V from Russia’s Gamaleya Research Institute is the latest vaccine approved for emergency use in India. Sputnik V uses a cold-type virus vector. It is engineered to be harmless, as a carrier to deliver a small fragment of the coronavirus to the body. Safely exposing the body to a part of the virus’s genetic code in this way allows it to recognize the threat and learn to fight it off, without the risk of becoming ill.

Sputnik V has been shown to have 92% efficacy. It is given in two doses, three weeks apart. It can be stored at temperatures between 2-8 degrees Celsius.
