Samsung Galaxy S8 in new variant color launch in India : Price & Specification

On April 9, Samsung launched a burgundy red colour variant of its yesteryear’s flagship the Galaxy S8. The smartphone is now available in five colour options i.e. midnight black, coral blue, maple gold, orchid gray and burgundy red.

The announcement of the new colour variant’s launch came soon after Samsung’s direct competitor Apple launched the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus Red edition.

The Galaxy S8 in Burgundy Red will be available across retail options at a price of Rs 49,990. Users can also avail Rs 10,000 off by paying through Paytm Mall and get the phone for Rs 39,990. The Galaxy S8 was originally launched in April 2017 at a price of Rs 57,990. The price of the Galaxy S8 was slashed to Rs 49,990 earlier this month. In comparison, the bigger Galaxy S8+ has a price of Rs 53,990 now, compared to the original price of Rs 64,990.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Specifications

The only change with the new Galaxy S8 is the colour. The smartphone features a bezel-less, dual-edge 5.8-inch Infinity super AMOLED display with 2K resolution. The aspect ratio on the Galaxy S8’s display is 18:5:9. The Galaxy S8 was originally launched in April 2017 at a price of Rs 57,990.

The Galaxy S8 is powered by the Exynos 8895 processor and comes with 3000mAh battery. The onboard RAM is 4GB, while the phone has 64GB storage coupled with 256GB expandable storage support. The Galaxy S8 also features Samsung Pay and Bixby, the company’s virtual assistant. The Galaxy S8 was the first phone to appear with the Bixby voice-assistant and comes with a dedicated button to activate it. On the camera front, S8 has a 12MP rear camera with f/1.7 aperture and there’s an 8MP front camera.

“Galaxy S8 continues to be a bestseller, even a year after its launch. The limited edition of Galaxy S8 will set our consumers apart from everyone else. The Burgundy Red edition of Galaxy S8 will wow consumers and allow them to express their own personal style,” Aditya Babbar, General Manager, Samsung India said in a press statement.

Commonwealth Games 2018 : Heena Sidhu won the gold medal in the women’s 25 metre pistol final as she shot a 38 to bag her second medal of the Games. Sidhu, who had won a silver after finishing second to Manu Bhaker in the 10 m air pistol on Sunday, set a Games record with her effort in the final.

Heena Sidhu trailed Elena Galiabovitch of Australia initially, after the home favourite started well, shooting 13 of her first 15 shots. Sidhu missed five of her first 15, but went on a scoring spree after the completion of 20 shots.

Annu Singh was eliminated early after making only 15 of her 30 shots and four of her last 10 shots as she fell behind early, and could not recover. This meant that India did not repeat of the 1-2 they had managed in this event at the last two Commonwealth Games.

The remaining Indian, Sidhu though was in red-hot form between shots 21 to 40, making 18 of them while Galiabovitch could only make 12 of them. Sidhu then had a mini-wobble in the 9th round of shots, when she made three out of 5 shots while her Australian opponent made four.

Heading into the final round of shots, Sidhu had a score of 34 and a two-point lead over her nearest rival. She held her nerve, however and displayed some ice-cool shooting skills as she made four of her five final shots, ending up with a 38. Galiabovitch ended up with silver. Alia Sazana Alahari of Malaysia finished with the bronze.

Boxer Amit enters semifinals

Indian boxer Amit Panghal secured his first Commonwealth medal in light flyweight(49kg) category. Amit reached semifinals by defeating Scotland’s Aqeel Ahmed in a split 4-1 verdict. Chasing a third successive international gold, the 22-year-old from Haryana overcame a rusty start to turn the tables on his opponent. He had won gold medals at the India Open and the Strandja Memorial Tournament in Bulgaria before coming into the Games.

Raazi set during the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971 is based on Harinder Sikka’s novel Calling Sehmat and is shot in Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir and Mumbai. With an interesting plot filled with twists and twirls and impressive acting from the entire cast, Raazi seems to be a hit already.

Sharing the trailer, Alia wrote, “Watan ke aage kuch nahi!!!! (Nothing comes before the nation)”.

Apple to announce red iPhone 8 and 8 Plus models this week

Apple launched the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus smartphones last year in September. It seems that now the company is also set to introduce the RED variant of the smartphones.

According to MacRumors, a Virgin Mobile memo reveals, (Product) Red versions of the 8 and 8 Plus will be announced soon, probably this week. However, if you were waiting for the RED iPhone X, then you will be disappointed as the no news of the same.

Virgin Mobile also says they will be adding them to their inventory at the same time as the announcement and that there will be preorders, leading us to believe the phones will be quickly available to order, but it may not ship til later this month.

Founded in 2006, Product RED works in combating HIV/AIDS in eight African countries: Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Rwanda, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania and Zambia. Last year also Apple resealed a number of special RED edition products including the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
To recall, the company launched the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus along with the anniversary edition iPhone X. The Apple iPhone 8 sports a 4.7-inch Retina screen, while the bigger variant comes with 5.5-inch Retina screen. The device are powered by the company’s own latest 10nm A11 Bionic chipset with a 6-core processor. It is claimed to be 25% faster than the A10, which powers the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus smartphones.

After a super Sunday at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia, Indian athletes continued to rake in medals on Day 5.

Indian shooting ace Jitu Rai claimed the gold medal in the men’s 10m air pistol event by creating a new games record while compatriot Om Prakash Mitharval bagged a bronze at the 21st Commonwealth Games on Monday.

Rai, who was the silver medallist at the World Championship, shot 235.1 to comfortably finish top of the podium.

Mitharval, who had established a new qualification record with 584, eventually finished with the bronze medal after aggregating 214.3 in the eight-man finals at the Belmont Shooting Centre.

Australia’s Kerry Bell managed to secure the silver medal with 233.5.

In the finals, Jitu led with 100.4 at the end of stage 1, while Mitharval was third with 98.1.

In stage 2 elimination, Rai started with 10.3 and 10.3 to lead the pecking order, even as his compatriot moved up and displaced Bell at second place with two 10.1s. Championship

Rai continued to surge ahead with a 10.2 but an 8.4 disturbed his momentum somewhat, as the next shot fetched him 9.2.

Meanwhile, Mitharval closed the gap as Rai had just 8.8 in the 18th shot to Mitharval’s 10.0.

However, Mitharval slipped after that even as Rai managed another 10.0 and maintained the lead throughout to emerge triumphant.

On Sunday, the Indian women were on fire as the country added gold, silver and bronze medals in weightlifting, shooting and table tennis.

Manu Bhaker, Heena Sidhu, Vikas Thakur, Punam Yadav, Manika Batra, Mouma Das, Madhurika Patkar and Venkat Rahul Ragala were among the medal winners for India on Sunday.

From cricketing great Sachin Tendulkar to President Ram Nath Kovind, congratulatory messages poured in for the Indian athletes from all corners.

On Day 5 of the Games, India has a lot to look forward to. Indian athletes will be in action in badminton,lawn bowls, table tennis, boxing and athletics.

IRCTC Tatkal Ticket Booking Rules 2018 : New Steps To Prevent Misuse

Indian Railways has been catering to the interests of the lakhs of travellers in the country, and one such move is to facilitate them in their last minute planning through Tatkal ticket booking. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), which provides the facility of online booking of tickets, has recently introduced new norms in this regard.

Tatkal Ticket Booking Rules 2018 :

According to Railways, only two Tatkal tickets can be booked for single user ID in opening Tatkal from 10:00-12:00 hrs. Bookings for Tatkal tickets for AC classes open at 10:00 am and for non-AC classes at 11:00 am, a day in advance of actual date of journey. Moreover, only two Tatkal tickets per IP Address between 10:00-12:00 hrs. are allowed.

The minister also said that agents are not allowed to book tickets between 08:00 am to 08:30 am, 10:00 am to 10:30 am and 11:00 am to 11:30 am to prevent cornering of tickets at the time of opening of Tatkal and Advance Reservation Period bookings.

IRCTC Ticket Refund/Cancellation Rules

To prevent misuse of Tatkal scheme, no refund is given on confirmed Tatkal tickets except in case of certain special circumstances. A refund of fare and Tatkal charges on confirmed tickets booked under the Tatkal scheme is granted only in specific circumstances:

1) if the train is delayed by more than three hours at the journey originating point of the passenger and not the boarding point if the passenger’s journey originating point and boarding point are different.

2) if the train is to run on a diverted route and passenger is not willing to travel.

3) if the train is to run on diverted route and boarding station or the destination or both the stations are not on the diverted route.

4) in case of non-attachment of coach in which Tatkal accommodation has been earmarked and the passenger has not been provided accommodation in the same class.

5) if the party has been accommodated in lower class and does not want to travel.

Sanjita Chanu gave India it’s second gold medal of the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia by winning the women’s 53 kg weightlifting event on Friday.

Sanjita overcame a stiff challenge from 2014 Glasgow gold medallist Dika Toua of Papua New Guinea with a total lift (snatch plus clean and jerk) of 192 kg for India’s second gold in the weightlifting category. Sanjita registered a Games record in snatch with a lift of 84kg that put her in pole position in the event. This was the second Commonwealth gold for the Manipur weightlifter, having won the 48kg event in Glasgow four years back.

This is India’s third medal of CWG 2018 with Mirabai Chanu winning gold on Day 1 while P Gururaja claiming the silver — both in weightlifting.


Sanjita started off with a lift of 81kg in snatch and in her second attempt managed to lift 83kg. She then broke the Commonwealth Games record set by compatriot Swarti Singh in Glasgow by lifting 84lg in her third snatch attempt.

Apart from weightlifting, India took off to a considerably brilliant start in mixed-event badminton as the nation thrashed Sri Lanka and then Pakistan in the two matches played on Thursday. In squash too, Dipika Pallikal, Joshna Chinappa cruised to the round of 16. However, it was heartbreak for the nation when women’s hockey team were stunned by lower-ranked Wales 2-3 in their opening tie.

A Jodhpur Court on Thursday (April 5) convicted Bollywood actor Salman Khan in the blackbuck poaching case and awarded him 5 years jail term. A fine of Rs 10,000 has also been levied on the actor.

Bollywood actors Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Tabu and Neelam, who were the co-accused in the case, have been acquitted. Khan and other actors were accused of poaching blackbucks on the midnight of October 1-2, 1998 during the filming of the Hindi movie Hum Saath Saath Hain.

Had the jail term been below 3 years, Salman would have been eligible for bail by Sessions Court. But now he would have to approach the High Court for bail. So, in all probability, Salman will have to spend a this night in jail.

Salman Khan will first be taken to the Mahatama Gandhi Hospital in Jodhpur for a medical examination. After the medical examination, he will be taken to the Central Jail in Jodhpur. Vikram Singh, the DIG (Prisons), has said that preparations have already been made for Salman Khan’s stay in prison. There will be high security and the food served to him will be the same as what is given to other prisoners, Singh further said.

What is the case against Salman Khan about?

This is the fourth case filed against the actor in connection with poaching animals during the filming of the 1998 movie Hum Saath Saath Hain. He has been acquitted in three of them.

In 2006, a trial court convicted the actor in two cases of poaching and sentenced him to five years in prison. The Rajasthan high court suspended the sentence the following year, and eventually acquitted him in 2016.

The state government has appealed against that order in the Supreme Court.

The original poaching case against him was filed by the local Bishnoi community, who revere and worship the blackbuck.

Weightlifter Saikhom Meerabai Chanu won the first gold medal for India at Commonwealth Games 2018.

Competing in the 48kg category, Meerabai Chanu, who claimed a silver at the 2014 CWG, lifted 80 kg in her first attempt and followed it by snatching 84 and 86 kgs respectively thereby breaking three records in all her lifts. After lifting 86 kgs, Chanu broke the Commonwealth Games 2018 record of a 77kg lift. Meerabai Chanu was being considered a sure shot medal prospect for India as her personal best of 194kg stood over 10kg more than her nearest rival in the competition.

In November last year, Chanu made history at the Weightlifting World Championship by becoming the second Indian after Karnam Malleswari to win gold medal at the event. She lifted a new National record of 194kg – 85 in snatch and 109 in clean & jerk in women’s 48kg category.

It was India’s first medal at the World Championships since 1995, when Malleswari claimed gold in China. Thailand’s Thunya Sukcharoen finished in the second place having lifted a total of 193 kg while Colombia’s Ana Iris Segura bagged bronze with her total lift of 182 kg. India’s Sanjita Chanu, meanwhile, finished fifth in her category.

India’s Gururaja wins silver in the men’s 56kg weightlifting event at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, thus handing India its first medal at the quadrennial event on the opening day.

After lifting his best weight of 111kg in the snatch, the 28-year-old added 138kg in his third attempt in the clean and jerk to end with a total lift of 249kg – achieving his personal best.

Malaysia’s Muhammad Izhar Ahmad won gold with a total lift of 261kg – a Commonwealth Games record – while bronze went to Sri Lanka’s Chaturanga Lakmal (248kg).

In 2017, Gururaja had claimed a Commonwealth Championships bronze in Australia.

The first medal for India

An employee of the Indian Air Force, Gururaja, who began weightlifting in 2010, had won gold in the Commonwealth senior weightlifting championship, lifting a personal best of 249kg (108+141) in Penang in 2016. Earlier that year, he won gold at the South Asian Games.

He hails from Kundapura in coastal Karnataka and started out as a wrestler before switching to powerlifting and then weightlifting.

The Maharashtra Government on Wednesday informed the Bombay High court that it is considering of formulating a policy to regulate prices of food being sold inside Multiplex cinema halls.

A division bench of Justice Shantanu Kemkar and Justice MS Karnik, while hearing Public Interest litigation filed by one Jainendra Baxi, said “We have experienced it ourselves, the prices of food items being sold inside the theatre are exorbitant.”

“If there is a complete ban on getting food from outside then why vendors are allowed inside.” Government Pleader Purnima Kantharia informed the court that suggestions from the petitioner and the Multiplex Association of India has been forwarded to the government and it is under consideration. Soon, guidelines will be formulated and it will be applicable to all multiplexes.

The court accordingly granted six weeks time to the government to place on record its policy and file its reply to the petition.

“The rates of food items have to be nominal,” the court said. The court was hearing the petition filed by resident Jainendra Baxi through his lawyer Aditya Pratap.

The plea claimed there was no legal or statutory provision prohibiting one from carrying personal food articles or water inside movie theatre. Further, argued that the Maharashtra Cinemas (Regulation) Rules prohibit hawking and selling food inside theatres and auditoriums. “This rule is openly flouted by cinema halls with several stalls selling food and beverages.”

NMC’s social welfare department is all set to conduct survey of disabled people, informed Pragati Patil (women and child welfare consultative committee chairperson) on Tuesday.

women and child welfare consultative committee chairperson Pragati Patil, who on Tuesday convened a first meeting of the committee, said in 2014-15, the NMC had conducted a survey and found around 7,957 persons with disabilities in the city. “But the survey was not completed and even the Nagpur municipal corporation had failed to provide disability certificates to most of them,” she said.

” Now, a fresh survey will be carried out to identify such people on a priority basis,” Pragati Patil said.

Patil claimed that the Nagpur municipal corporation will also construct a state-of-the-art rehabilitation centre for physically challenged persons. Along with this, the NMC’s social welfare department will also undertake survey of homeless children in the city.

“This year the NMC will try to introduce new products in its women expo for SHGs and only SHGs registered with the civic body will be allowed to participate,” she said. For the purpose, the social welfare department will conduct zone-wise meetings with SHGs members between April 15 and April 30, she said.

Besides these projects, the committee also aims to take up special training programmes for self-help group members.

The Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 8 Sirocco have been announced in India by HMD Global at an event in New Delhi. The three new phones come after the entry-level Nokia 1 Android Oreo Go Edition was launched in the country a few days ago, making up the first set of phones for 2018 and expanding the company’s portfolio.

The Nokia 6 (2018) is essentially a refreshed version of the Nokia 6 from last year and is an Android One smartphone much like the others. There are a few visual changes to the new Nokia 6 such as the fingerprint sensor moving to the rear and copper accents all around like the Nokia 7 Plus. The phone brings a 5.5-inch FullHD IPS LCD display with a traditional 16:9 aspect ratio. A notable upgrade under-the-hood is the chipset with the new one getting a Snapdragon 630 processor compared to the SD430 chip that was powering the original Nokia 6. This is coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.

Nokia 6 comes with a 16MP rear camera with ZEISS optics and an 8MP front-facing camera with support for Bothie and Nokia 360 spatial audio. The phone comes with Pro camera mode and Face Unlock, much like the 7 Plus and the 8 Sirocco. The handset houses a 3,000mAh battery, measures 148.8×75.8×8.6mm.

The Nokia 7 Plus is an updated version of the Nokia 7 and this is highlighted with an 18:9 display. The 6-inch FHD+ panel is protected by Gorilla Glass 3 and the handset is crafted from a single block of Series 6000 aluminium with copper accents around the camera and the frame. The Nokia 7 Plus is powered Snapdragon 660 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 256GB via microSD card. It houses a 3,800mAh battery which Nokia claims is good for 2 days of mixed use.

The Nokia 7 Plus also supports face unlock and AI imaging features like the ability to modify lighting conditions and add masks. The sports ZIESS-branded dual rear cameras with a 12MP primary sensor and a 13MP secondary sensor for 2X optical zoom. The front camera is Zeiss-branded as well and the company says you’ll be able to capture good selfies in low-light as well. It also supports OZO Audio which allows for 360 degree audio recording and Bothie.

The Nokia 8 Sirocco is the first flagship smartphone from the company this year and build on the design of last year’s Nokia 8. But the company wanted to take things a little further. The handset is made up of Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and back with a stainless steel chassis in between. It sports a 5.5-inch Quad HD pOLED display with slim bezels on the top and bottom and a 3D curved glass on top that gives it an appealing edge-to-edge look. It is powered by last year’s flagship Snapdragon 835 processor paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of non-expandable storage. Additionally, the handset houses a 3,260mAh battery, which is slightly bigger than the Nokia 8, supports Qi Wireless charging and is IP67 rated.

Cameras on the Nokia 8 Sirocco have been updated slightly compared to the Nokia 8. The dual rear camera setup this time around comprises of a 12-megapixel wide-angle primary lens with f/1.7 aperture and a 13-megapixel telephoto lens with f/2.6 aperture and dual-tone flash. You also get a Pro mode that allows you to manually adjust white balance, focus, ISO, shutter speed and exposure. Up front, you get a 5-megapixel selfie camera with display flash.

The Nokia 7 Plus comes in a single storage option of 4GB + 64GB which has been priced at Rs 25,999 in Black Copper and White Copper colours, while the new Nokia 6 comes with a lower mid-range pricing of Rs 16,999 and will come in a choice of three colour options – Black/Copper, White/Iron and Blue/Gold. The Nokia 8 Sirocco, on the other hand, comes with a premium price tag of Rs 49,999 and will be offered in Black. The Nokia 6 will be available with cash back offers offline and on the Nokia Mobile Shop and select mobile outlets, while the Nokia 7 Plus will be available for pre-booking from April 20 and will go on sale from April 30 on Amazon India and Nokia Mobile Shop. The 8 Sirocco will be available from April 30 on Flipkart and Nokia Mobile Shop.

NIRF India Ranking 2018 : IISc Bengalore ranks India’s best university, Delhi’s JNU ranks second

The Indian Institute of Science in Bengalore ( IISc Bengalore ) was judged India’s best university in 2018, according to the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) India Rankings released by Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The Indian Institute of Science had topped the overall rankings as well as the university category in 2017 too.

The Jawaharlal Nehru University was ranked second, and the Banaras Hindu University took the third spot.

The rankings were announced under nine categories: overall, universities, engineering, colleges, management, pharmacy, medical, architecture and law. According to the NIRF website, the institutes are ranked on parameters that broadly cover teaching, learning and resources; research and professional practices; graduation outcomes; outreach and inclusivity; and perception.

Speaking about the song, Singer Armaan said, “Bhushanji (Bhushan Kumar) had played this song to me in his office and he said he wanted me to do this song as my next single as it had this boy-next-door vibe to it and felt that I would fit it perfectly,”

“Amaal already knew this song and was a fan of the melody and the composer Rajesh Roshanji. When he learned that I also featured in the video, Amaal, without any hesitation said that he wants to work on it and give it his twist. From there on, the song just kept on getting grander and much more beautiful than what I had in mind for it,” Armaan added added.

He also revealed that the song has been recomposed in a way where they have retained only the opening line, rest everything is improvised. The shooting has taken place in a place called Chania which exudes an “old-world charm.”

SpaceX launched a cargo mission Monday (April 2) to the International Space Station from Cape Canaveral, just three days after successfully launching 10 communications satellites into orbit from Southern California’s Vandenberg Air Force Base.

The Falcon rocket blasted off from Cape Canaveral, Florida, on Monday, hoisting a Dragon capsule full of food, experiments and other station goods for NASA.

The Dragon and its 6,000-pound shipment should reach the space station Wednesday. The station astronauts will use a robot arm to grab it.

It’s the second trip to the orbiting lab for this particular Dragon, recycled following a visit two years ago. The Falcon’s first-stage booster also flew before — last summer.

The space station is currently home to astronauts from the U.S., Russia and Japan.

The Falcon 9 rocket was previously used last August, also to send a cargo ship to the International Space Station.

SpaceX has been recovering rockets for re-use to slash millions of dollars from the cost of space missions, but the company is not expected to try to recover the rocket after Monday’s launch.

After terminating a contract with production company KriArj Entertainment in the interest of “Parmanu – The Story Of Pokhran”, John Abraham Entertainment on Monday announced the film will soon get a new release date. The film will now release on May 4.

Its director Abhishek Sharma is happy as the movie’s release now coincides with the same month as the Pokhran tests 20 years ago. John Abraham’s banner on Monday announced the termination of a contract with KriArj Entertainment for “Parmanu – The Story Of Pokhran”, which has been delayed since last year.

JA Entertainment said, “Much in line with India’s journey to becoming a nuclear power, our film’s journey to its release has also had its own ups and downs! However, it is perhaps a befitting tribute to the true heroes of our nuclear program- our army and our scientists, that Parmanu is releasing in the same month as we celebrate 20 years of Operation Shakti- India’s nuclear test explosions in Pokhran in May 1998. We are extremely proud of the film and what it stands for and can’t wait to take it to our audience on 4th May, 2018.”

The film was originally scheduled to release on December 8, 2017. Its release date got pushed to February 23, 2018 and then to April 6 2018. The latest release date will result in a box office clash between John Abraham and Amitabh Bachhan (102 Not Out).

Parmanu- The Story of Pokhran is an ode to the Indian army and scientists, who although ordinary people, accomplished truly extraordinary feats in the face of adversity. It salutes, celebrates and truly embraces the slogan- Jai Jawan Jai Vigyan. While the premise of the film is based on true events, the characters are fictitious.

MahaMetro to use geothermal AC system for saving 15% power

Mahametro decided to lower power further by going in for geothermal air conditioning system at its under-construction office opposite Deekshabhoomi. The system is expected to reduce operating cost by 10% to 15%.

The MahaMetro official said geothermal heat pump is a central cooling system that transfers heat to or from the ground. “It uses earth as a heat sink. This design takes advantage of the moderate temperatures in the ground to boost efficiency and reduce the operational costs of heating and cooling systems. The temperature in the ground below 20 feet is roughly equal to the mean annual air temperature.”

He said the heat pump consists of an array of 80-100 meter deep bore wells with a double u-tube, along with manifolds for connection of array of such boreholes. “The vertical bores provide heat dissipation medium in the ground. Since, water at 80-100 meter depth below ground is at constant temperature, the cooling from geo-exchange are in a constant zone of temperature between 25 to 30°C,” he added.

Dr. Brijesh Dixit ( MahaMetro managing director )said the agency has decided to go in for this system due to increasing concerns over cost and availability of electricity and water. “We will install a 175 thermal response (TR) cooling system. The installation of a test borehole and a thermal response test (TRT) was conducted. The rest of the closed loop borehole field is under progress,” he added.

“The ground loop array will be connected to a water cooled chiller that primarily delivers cooling to the building. A significant element in the evolution of this installation is the procurement of the borehole field material from Indian manufacturers and suppliers. Use of this technology will offer a significant reduction in CO2 emissions compared to the existing systems,” Dixit further said.

President Ram Nath Kovind on Monday presented Padma Awards to 43 persons including cricket legend MS Dhoni in a ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

According to a release, the Padma Bhushan – the third highest civillian honour – was presented to five people– Dhoni, billiards champion Pankaj Advani, Russian Ambassador to India Alexander Kadakin (posthumously), Indian artist Laxman Pai and folk singer Sharda Sinha while Padma Shri was awarded to 38 people. Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were the Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and Union Ministers.

More than a week ago, Indian handset manufacturer Lava launched the Lava Z50 Android Oreo (Go Edition) smartphone in India. The Z50 is India as well as Lava’s first Android Oreo (Go Edition) powered smartphone. Well now, the company has launched yet another smartphone under its Z series in India, dubbed Lava Z91.

The Lava Z91 is a budget smartphone, however, it does flaunt a now-common-but-modern design. The smartphone features a 5.7-inch display that has an aspect ratio of 18:9 and as a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels. The phone also has smaller bezels than previous Lava smartphones.

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to launch own payment gateway

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), is reportedly set to launch its own payment gateway as the online ticketing platform seeks additional revenue and looks to reduce dependency on third-party payment platforms.

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation is expected to start the pilot for its in-house payment gateway over the next 4-8 weeks, reported Mint, quoting two sources. The payment gateway is internally being called ‘ipay’ and will be rolled out in phases once the testing is successfully completed, the report added.

Meanwhile, the IRCTC’s internet ticketing revenue witnessed a drop of 26 per cent to Rs 466.05 crore in fiscal year 2016-17. Internet ticketing comes as the second-largest category for the IRCTC at around 33 per cent of total revenue.

Data showed that Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation sold around 209 million tickets via online platform in FY17, which saw an increase of 5 per cent from 199 million tickets sold in the previous fiscal. Together, these 209 million tickets aggregated up to Rs 24,485.21 crore in FY17.

Despite witnessing a decline on e-ticketing revenue, IRCTC still outruns MakeMyTrip which recorded 9.3 million ticket sales in FY17 valuing up to Rs 14,800 crore.

Apart from this, IRCTC also registered a growth of 4.7 per cent in total income to Rs 1,596.31 crore in FY17. While both gross margin and profit before tax came in at Rs 353.42 crore and Rs 211.71 crore which grew by over 7 per cent.

arlier in October 2017, Indian Railways had extended the deadline for passengers to enjoy no service charges on their e-ticket booking till March 2018. During fiscal year 2016, about one-third of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation’s revenue of Rs 1,500 crore came from internet booking which stood at Rs 540 crore.

As part of its latest update, WhatsApp for iOS has added some new features, implemented various optimizations and fixed several bugs. The highlight is a new feature that allows users to see recent status updates in the WhatsApp widget within the ‘Today View’ section.

The update, which started rolling out earlier today, comes with version number 2.18.40, and also allows voice messages to continue playing even when users switch to another app or turns the screen off. The update is yet to hit the Android version of the app.

As per WABetaInfo, forthcoming updates to the platform will bring further changes, including improvements for group video calls, translations for the Sticker feature, and more. It isn’t immediately clear when these will be implemented, but they are expected to be available sooner rather than later.

WhatsApp is one of the most popular cross-platform messaging apps there is, but that doesn’t mean that the Facebook-owned platform is taking things easy. The app continues to add new features on a fairly regular basis, and only recently, added a slew of new features to the app, including the ability to make payments by scanning QR codes, support for group description, search for group members directly from the Group Info screen and in-call switching between voice and videos by tapping on a button.

Meanwhile, as part of an April Fools’ prank, WABetaInfo yesterday tweeted out that WhatsApp will add a slew of new features that will make the service more similar to rival Telegram. While some publications have fallen for it, the fact remains that WhatsApp hasn’t rolled out any such update, and isn’t likely to do so in the foreseeable future, although, some of those features would definitely make the service more enjoyable.

India is now world’s second largest mobile phone producer: ICA

India is now the second largest mobile phone producer in the world after China, as per information shared by Indian Cellular Association (ICA) with Telecom Minister Manoj Sinha and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.

“We are happy to inform you that with the strenuous and calibrated efforts of government of India, ICA and FTTF, India has now emerged as the second largest producer of mobile handset by volume,” ICA National President Pankaj Mohindroo said in a letter to both the union ministers on March 28.

ICA referred to data available from market research firm IHS, China’s National Bureau of Statistics and Vietnam General Statistics Office.

According to the data shared by ICA, the annual production of mobile phones in India increased from 3 million units in 2014 to 11 million units in 2017.

With the rise in mobile phone production, imports of the devices in the country also reduced to less than half in 2017-18.

“We are also happy to inform you that our completely build units as percentage of domestic market has now come down from 78 per cent (2014-15) to 18 per cent (2017-18),” Mohindroo said.

The fast track task Force, a body under Ministry of Electronics and IT, has set target to achieve around 500 million mobile phone production in India by 2019, with value estimated to be around USD 46 billion.

She gave birth to the Hanuman with the help of five divine factors such as curse and blessings of the saint Angira, her prayers, blessings of Lord Shiva, blessings of Vayu deva and Putreshti Yagna’s fruit. It is considered that Lord Shiva had to rebirth as a human being on the earth in his 11th Rudra avatar in the form of Hanuman as He could not serve to the Lord Rama by being in His real form.

The whole Vanara community including all the human fraternity was happy and celebrated his birthday with great enthusiasm and joy by dancing, singing and lots of activities. From then, it was started celebrating as a Hanuman Jayanti by his devotees to get strength and wisdom like him.

Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc injured, will miss the IPL 2018

Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc has been ruled out of the fourth Test against South Africa as well as the Indian Premier League because of a stress fracture in his lower right leg.

Captain Tim Paine said at the toss on Friday that Starc had been “battling some injuries throughout the tour” and had been rested from the final Test.

But Cricket Australia’s website later stated he has ‘tibial bone stress in his right leg’, which basically means a stress fracture, and that he would fly home after the Test for further assessment.

The left-arm pacer was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 9.4 crore at the IPL auction in January, but will not take place in the lucrative tournament this season now. Starc was replaced for the final Test against South Africa by South Australia’s Chadd Sayers and will fly home after the series for further injury investigation and assessment.

Starc has 34 wickets at an economy rate of 7.17 from 27 IPL matches.
KKR, who won the title in 2012 and 2014, will open their IPL 2018 campaign against Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 8.
