MS Dhoni receives Padma Bhushan Award from President of India

President Ram Nath Kovind on Monday presented Padma Awards to 43 persons including cricket legend MS Dhoni in a ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

According to a release, the Padma Bhushan – the third highest civillian honour – was presented to five people– Dhoni, billiards champion Pankaj Advani, Russian Ambassador to India Alexander Kadakin (posthumously), Indian artist Laxman Pai and folk singer Sharda Sinha while Padma Shri was awarded to 38 people. Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were the Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and Union Ministers.

 

Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was conferred with Padma Bhushan Award on Monday at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi by President of India Ram Nath Kovind.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who was conferred with the honourary title of Lieutenant Colonel in Indian Army in 2011, was wearing his army uniform at the ceremony.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who is the most successful Indian captain till date, is the only skipper to win all the ICC trophies- ICC Cricket World Cup, World Twenty20 and the Champions Trophy.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his wife Sakshi Dhoni were seen posing with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni announced his retirement from Test cricket in 2014. Later in 2017, he relinquished his captaincy in ODI cricket. He has won numerous accolades in his career.
Pankaj Advani was also honoured with Padma Bhushan Award by President Ram Nath Kovind on Monday at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. MS Dhoni was seen giving the eight-time world champion a hug at the ceremony.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni also holds the distinction of being the first player to win the ICC ODI Player of the Year award twice back in 2008 and 2009.

MS Dhoni walked like an army man to collect his Padma Bhushan Award from President Kovind.
