Bawankule slams MVA over Rana couple arrest and power crisis

Date:

Nagpur: Referring to the arrest of the Rana couple, MLA Ravi and his MP wife Navneet, and a face-off with Shiv Sainiks, senior BJP leader Chandrashekhar Bawankule said the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) is resorting to ‘terrorism’ under police protection. The former energy minister also accused MVA of ‘lying’ to the public about making Maharashtra load-shedding free.

He alleged that Kirit Somaiyya was attacked in a police presence in Mumbai. “You look at the visuals and it becomes clear that some Shiv Sainiks are throwing stones from behind the cops. So this is happening in front of cops,” said Bawankule.

“Our party colleagues had met with the Mumbai police commissioner to complain but no offense was registered. Then BJP delegation met with the Governor, demanding that an FIR be registered. But the way it is going, it seems like terrorism is going on under police protection,” said Bawankule.

“This government is behaving worse than the British. Somaiyya came under attack even though he has a high level of security. Police are being misused by MVA to divert the attention of the public from their failures. All these attacks on Somaiyya and Mohit Kamboj are part of that,” said Bawankule.

He reiterated that BJP never pushed for the president’s rule in Maharashtra. “We have never said that. We have only highlighted the law and order situation in our meetings with the Governor,” said Bawankule.

On Sunday evening, BJP held a ‘lantern march’ to symbolically protest against load-shedding. Bawankule said, “Why is the government demanding security deposit from citizens. This entire power crisis is the government’s own doing and it simply trying to shift the blame.”
