नागपूर महापालिकेत ओबीसींसाठी ३५ जागा राहणार आरक्षित
नागपुर: सर्वोच्च न्यायालयाने ओबीसींना राजकीय आरक्षण बहाल करून दोन आठवड्यात महापालिकेच्या निवडणुकीची प्रक्रिया सुरू करण्याचे आदेश दिले आहेत. त्यामुळे सप्टेंबर-ऑक्टोबर महिन्यात निवडणूक होण्याची शक्यता असून नागपूर महापालिकेत ओबीसींसाठी ३५ जागा आरक्षित ठेवाव्या लागणार आहेत. अनुसुचित जातींसाठी १९ तर अनुसुचित जमातींसाठी ७.७ टक्के जागा आरक्षित आहेत. ओबीसींना २३.५ टक्के आरक्षण मिळणार असल्याने नव्या आरक्षणामुळे खुल्या प्रवर्गातून लढण्याची तयारी करीत असलेल्या काही इच्छुकांची राजकीय समिकरणे बिघडण्याची शक्यता आहे.
नागपूर शहरात एकूण ५२ प्रभाग करण्यात आले आहेत. प्रत्येक प्रभागातून तीन नगरसेवक याप्रमाणे १५६ उमेदवार निवडणूक लढवणार आहेत. यापैकी एससी, एसटी प्रवर्गासाठी ४३, ओबींसीसाठी ३५ अशा एकूण ७८ जागा आरक्षित राहणार आहेत. उर्वरित ७८ जागा खुल्या प्रवर्गातील असून एकूण १५६ पैकी ५० जागा महिलांसाठी राखीव आहेत. नागपूर महापालिकेचा पाच वर्षांचा कार्यकाळ संपला आहे. तीन सदस्यीय प्रभाग रचना महाविकास आघाडी सरकारने केली होती. त्यानंतर प्रभागांच्या सीमाही निश्चित करण्यात आल्या आहेत. राज्य निवडणूक आयोगाने याचा अंतिम आराखडा जाहीर केल्याने ओबीसीसाठी प्रभागनिहाय आरक्षण जाहीर करावे लागणार आहे. त्यावर आक्षेप, हरकती आणि सुनावणी घेतल्यानंतर निवडणूक जाहीर होण्याची शक्यता वर्तविली जात आहे.
दरम्यान, महविकास आघाडी सरकारने आपल्या राजकीय सोयीने प्रभागाची रचना केली आहे. ओबीसी आरक्षणाशिवाय जाहीर करण्यात आलेल्या ९२ नगर पालिकेच्या निवडणुकीला स्थगिती द्यावी, अशी मागणी भाजप सत्तेवर येताच माजी मंत्री चंद्रशेखर बावनकुळे यांनी केली होती. ती त्वरीत मान्यसुद्धा करण्यात आली आहे. त्यामुळे पुन्हा प्रभागांची फेररचना केल्यास महापालिकेची निवडणूक लांबणीवर पडू शकते.

In last 24 hours 102 persons recovered from coronavirus infection taking the number of cumulative recoveries to 5,70,268. The active count in the district now stands 1386.
From the total cases in the day, Nagpur rural reported 90 new cases while 159 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Nagpur city.With this, the number of cumulative positive cases increased to 5,81,993.
No death due to the coronavirus was registered in the district. Nagpur district continues to maintain recovery rate of 98.14%.

Covid-19: Nagpur reviews 88 sparkling instances, lively cases at 754
Even in the second fortnight of July, the coronavirus infection has not subsided. On Wednesday, 218 new Covid cases were discovered in the district, with 151 people recovering. The number of active patients has risen to 1,329.
Since the pandemic began, a total of 5,81,744 confirmed cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the district. The death toll has remained steady at 10,339.
A total of 164 patients tested positive for Covid in the city on Wednesday. A total of 54 tested positive in rural areas. While 131 in the city and 20 in the rural ares recovered.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 2,647 sam ples were tested. Of these, 1,814 were from the city and 833 in the rural. A total of 1,278 are in home isolation while 51 patients are under treatment. Of these, 15 are in GMC, 2 in Mayo and remaining are being treat ed in private hospitals.

महाराष्ट्रातील ओबीसी आरक्षणाबाबत सर्वोच्च न्यायालयाने महत्त्वाचा निकाल दिला आहे. बांठिया आयोगाच्या अहवालानुसार निवडणूक घ्या. दोन आठवड्यांत उर्वरित निवडणुका जाहीर करा, असे निर्देश सर्वोच्च न्यायालयाने दिले आहेत. बांठिया आयोगाच्या अहवालानुसार, राज्याने ओबीसी आरक्षणासह निवडणुकांचा मार्ग मोकळा करावा. तसेच दोन आठवड्यांत उर्वरित स्थानिक स्वराज्य संस्थांच्या निवडणुका अधिसूचित करण्याचा आदेश सर्वोच्च न्यायालयाने दिला आहे.
सर्वोच्च न्यायालयाने निवडणूक आयोग आणि महाराष्ट्रातील सर्व संबंधित राज्य प्राधिकरणांना स्थानिक स्वराज्य संस्थांच्या संदर्भात निवडणूक प्रक्रिया तात्काळ सुरू करण्याचेही निर्देश दिले आहेत. इतर मागासवर्गीय अर्थात ओबीसींच्या राजकीय आरक्षणासंदर्भातील याचिकांवर सर्वोच्च न्यायालयात बुधवारी सुनावणी झाली. न्यायमूर्ती ए. एम. खानविलकर, न्यायमूर्ती अभय ओक आणि न्यायमूर्ती जे. बी. पारडीवाला यांच्या खंडपीठासमोर ही सुनावणी झाली.

on Wednesday, the National Testing Agency (NTA) released an official announcement in both its JEE Main website, jeemain.nta.nic.in and the NTA website, nta.ac.in.NTA announced that the JEE Main Session 2 tests begin on July 25 2022 for JEE Main Session 2.

A list of food items that are exempt from GST was published by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday, but only if they are sold loose and not packaged or labelled beforehand.
Pulses/daal, wheat, rye, oats, maize, rice, aata/flour, suji/rawa, besan, puffed rice, and curd/lassi are a few examples of these.
The new GST rates that went into effect on Monday were clarified by the minister in a series of tweets. The action follows the adjournment of Lok Sabha sessions on Tuesday due to opposition demonstrations against GST rates and price increases
Sitharaman defended the imposition of 5 per cent GST on food articles in her tweets and said that the decision was unanimous by the GST Council and all states were present in GST Council meeting when this issue was presented by the Group of Ministers on Rate Rationalisation on June 28, 2022.
She said that this isn’t the first time that such food articles are being taxed. “States were collecting significant revenue from foodgrain in the pre-GST regime. Punjab alone collected more Rs 2,000 cr on food grain by way of purchase tax. UP collected Rs 700 cr.”
Explaining the GST, she said that when GST was rolled out, a GST rate of 5 per cent was made applicable on branded cereals, pulses, flour. Later this was amended to tax only such items which were sold under registered brand or brand on which enforceable right was not foregone by supplier.
However, she said that soon there was rampant misuse of this provision by reputed manufacturers and brand owners and gradually GST revenue from these items fell significantly.
“This was RESENTED by suppliers and industry associations who were paying taxes on branded goods. They wrote to the Govt to impose GST uniformly on all packaged commodities to stop such misuse. This rampant evasion in tax was also observed by States,” Sitharaman said in a tweet.
The minister wrote that the Fitment Committee which consisted of officers from Rajasthan, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Haryana and Gujarat had also examined this issue over several meetings and made its recommendations for changing the modalities to curb misuse.
“It is in this context that the GST Council in its 47th meeting took the decision. With effect from July 18, 2022, only the modalities of imposition of GST on these goods was changed with no change in coverage of GST except 2-3 items,” she said.
“It has been prescribed that GST on these goods shall apply when supplied in “pre-packaged and labelled” commodities attracting the provisions of Legal Metrology Act,” the minister said.

Orange alert for Akola, Amravati, Yellow alert for Nagpur and other districts
Indian meteorological Department has issued yellow alert for Nagpur, Chandrapur, Bhandara, Gadchiroli, Wardha, Yavatmal, Gondia and Buldana for the next two to four days about thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at isolated places.
It has issued an orange alert for Akola and Amravati districts on Tuesday with heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at isolated places. Yellow alert has also been issued for these two districts for July 20 about thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at isolated places.
The students in all divisional boards have been provided online entry cards for the SSC exam to be held in July/August 2022. All concerned schools I can download admission cards for the exam from portal www.mahahss cboard.in from school login. The schools should contact divisional boards if there is any technical difficulty.
All schools coming under all divisional boards have to give printouts of SSC exam of July/August 2022 to the students. No fee has to be taken from the stu dents while online printing of the exam cards.
The print out should have the signature of the principals and stamp. If subjects and mediums are changed in the exam cards, the rectifications have to be made by the schools by approaching the divisional board.
The corrections about photograph, signature, name of students, date of birth and birth place on admission cards have to be done by the schools at their level and send one copy to the divisional board imme diately. If admission cards are misplaced by students, schools should give anoth er print out with a remark ‘Second Copy’ in red ink. If photo is faulty, the photo of the students has to be affixed on it duly stamped and signed by the head masters, the secretary of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Dr Ashok Bhosle.
RTMNU issues notification for PG admission, form on portal
Nagpur: The National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) of the Union Ministry of Education revealed its national rankings on Friday, with the Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) coming in at position 196 out of 200 universities (MOE).
Officials from the university have now stopped bragging about receiving an A from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and are mute regarding NIRF rankings.
RTMNU was also placed 196th the previous year. Prior to that, NU was not ranked because it did not submit an application for NIRF rankings. The university has applied during the past two years, but its standing has not changed.
The Institute of Science, which gained autonomy last year, has achieved its goal of ranking 117th among national level colleges.
With a 42nd position, the university has also performed admirably in the domain of pharmacy colleges. While Dadasaheb Balpande College of Pharmacy placed 104th, Guru Nanak College of Pharmacy placed 108th, Kishoritai Bhoyar College of Pharmacy placed 53rd.
According to insiders, the university’s declining level of research and education is the main reason it hasn’t been ranked higher.
The standard of research and education has not been improved in the last eight years. No agreements were established to help students develop practical skills alongside those that would help them succeed in national and international sectors.

Covid-19: Nagpur reviews 88 sparkling instances, lively cases at 754
An official stated on Sunday that at least 38 children from a private school in Nagpur, Maharashtra, had tested positive for coronavirus.
Nagpur district reported 262 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, including 100 infections from Nagpur city, bringing the total to 5,69,690. According to an official report, the total mortality toll from Covid-19 is now at 10,339 people.
Samples of the students of a private school in Jaitala area in Nagpur city were taken on Friday. As per the test results which became available on Sunday, 38 students have been found infected with coronavirus,” a district health officials. Nagpur district has 1,221 active cases.
Vidarbha Reeling Under Heavy Rains, On High Alert For Next 5 Days
Rains have pounded Vidarbha for the past seven days, with heavy showers pelting every district of the state.
On Thursday morning, significant rain fell in Gadchiroli, Chandrapur, Akola, Washim, and Yavatmal. On Thursday afternoon, heavy rain fell on Nagpur as well. The weather service has issued a warning for heavy rains over the next five days.
While the city received 53mm of rain till after noon, Gadchiroli turned out to be the wettest dis trict in Vidarbha with 138.4mm of rain on Thursday. Till Thursday morning, Chandrapur (99.8mm), (43mm) and Akola (84.4mm), Washim Yavatmal (46.9mm) too received widespread rainfall. Usually, Vidarbha receives 307mm of rain till July 14. This year though, there has been almost 44% rise as the region has received 441mm rain till now. So far, Marathwada has received 87% more rains while the State has seen 41% more rains.
A low pressure area has formed in and around Odisha. Also, a cyclonic circulation and low pres sure area has formed over the north of Arabian Sea and Gujarat coast and it is going to increase in the next 24 hours. Due to which Vidarbha will receive heavy rains in phases till July 18, the meteorological department has warned.
As per the directives of the Central and State governments, all citizens above 18 years of age will get a booster dose of Covid vacine free of cost from Friday.
Municipal commissioner and administrator Radhakrishnan B informed that the eligible citizens will be given the dose by Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC).
The booster dose can be taken six months after taking the second dose of the vaccine. Earlier this period was 9 months. It has been reduced to 6 months now. The vaccine will be given from 9 am to 4 pm.
The free booster dose campaign that will begin on Friday, would conclude on September 30. People in the age group of 18 to 59 will benefit from this campaign. Vaccines will be – available at NMC and gov ernment centres.
Covishield will be available at all centres from Monday to Saturday. Also, 3 children aged 12 to 14 years will be given the Corbevax vaccine on Saturday. Covaxin will be available at 8 centers from Monday to Friday. However, at Government 7 Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital and Research Centre, Covaxin will be available from Monday to Saturday.
Daler Mehndi arrested, 19-year-old human trafficking case
Singer Daler Mehndi has been sentenced to two years in prison in a human trafficking case of 2003, the complainant’s lawyer Gurmeet Singh said.
The recent hearing was a review hearing in the case after a Patiala court had earlier convicted the singer for 2 years in prison in 2018. The singer was later let out on bail but has now been arrested as per court orders.
In the FIR, Mehndi and his brother Shamsher Singh were accused of illegally sending people abroad disguising them as troupe members in exchange for money. That they were charged with IPC sections for human trafficking and conspiracy and the Indian Passport Act.
The complainants had alleged that the brothers had taken money from them to help them go to USA illegally, but didn’t do so. It was alleged that the brothers took about 10 people to USA as troupe members during 1998 and 1999. According to PTI, Mehndi (in company of a female actor) had also allegedly “dropped off” three girls in San Francisco.
RATI Foundation’s ‘Meri Trustline’, Meta-supported free helpline launched for children facing online safety concerns
The pandemic saw an unprecedented number of children rely on technology and digital platforms to keep up with learning, stay entertained and connected to the outside world.
However, not all children have the necessary knowledge, skills, and resources to keep themselves safe online. To help children and parents address concerns of online safety, Meta is supporting the RATI Foundation (Aarambh India Initiative) to launch ‘Meri Trustline’.
The first of its kind helpline is dedicated to offer support to children under the age of 18 years who are in distress on account of facing online safety concerns, such as cyber bullying and loss of control over sensitive media including self-generated child sexual abuse material.
The helpline, operational between 9 am to 5 pm from Monday to Friday, will offer support in six distinctive ways depending on the need and severity of the issue – Technical Support will include assistance in taking down content that the child feels is intimate/private.
Emotional Support will be offered in the form of counseling to callers in mental distress; Social Support will extend to callers that require social work intervention including family intervention, Informational Support will include factual and expert knowledge regarding the issue, Legal Support which includes legal advice and intervention for victims and families and Referral Support that will connect the victims to organizations across India & institutions including law enforcement.
For children looking for support related to self-generated sensitive images or non-consensual intimate images, RATIFoundation will connect the caller with Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), UK to take action to prevent these images from surfacing online.
The Foundation will also provide support in connecting the children and caregivers to relevant law enforcement agencies.
Speaking at the launch of the helpline, Antigone Davis, VP, Global Head of Safety, Meta said, “Online safety of children is a serious issue, and we are committed to build an environment where children feel safe across our platforms. Each day more children are coming online and to keep them safe from the risks of online harm, there is a need to create a reporting model which is not only child-friendly and effective, but it can also be adapted by industry at large. With the launch of Meri Trustline, we are supporting the RATI foundation to take a lead in this industry-first initiative that will enable reporting online threats to children across the industry.”
Meri Trustline (6363176363) will be available in both Hindi and English to children and other stakeholders including caregivers, parents/guardians, teachers, siblings, young-adults, and allies. Other institutions or organizations dealing with or acting on behalf of children can also call on the helpline. Nagpur Pilgrim Couple Dies In Amarnath Floods | Our Nagpur
Nagpur: A pilgrim couple from Second Capital of the State reportedly died on their way to the Amarnath shrine in floods.
The deceased have identified as Rajesh Vinchurkar and his wife. Their bodies were recovered from the debris of the flash flood, revealed Shraddha Dhomne, a Nagpur Police personnel, who received the information at the Police Control Room in J&K on Tuesday.
Notably, on Friday, flash floods hit the cave shrine area killing at least 16 pilgrims and injuring more than 100. While it is not exactly known what caused the flash floods, officials said it could have been caused by a cloud or glacial burst. Following which the Amarnath Pilgrimage was suspended for three days.

दरम्यान, गेल्या काही दिवसांपासून सुरू असलेल्या पावसाचे सत्र रविवारीही कायम हाेते. अकाेला, अमरावती वगळता विदर्भात सर्वत्र पावसाने जाेरात धडक दिली. गडचिराेलीच्या मुलचेरा भागात २०५.८ मिमी अशा विक्रमी पावसाची नाेंद करण्यात आली. गडचिराेलीत २४ तासांत ४४ मिमी पाऊस झाला. नागपूर जिल्ह्यात सावनेर तालुक्यात सर्वाधिक ६४.६ मिमी पाऊस नाेंदविला गेला. शहरात १८ मिमी पावसासह २४ तासांत ३४.४ मिमी पावसाची नाेंद झाली. दमदार पावसाने नदीनाल्यात जलसाठा वाढला आहे. गाेंदिया शहरात दिवसा ५२ मिमी पावसाची नाेंद करण्यात आली. चंद्रपूरमध्ये दिवसा २० मिमीसह २४ तासांत ७२.६ मिमी पाऊस नाेंदविला गेला. रविवारी सकाळपर्यंत चंद्रपूरच्या मूल येथे १०२.५ मिमी पावसाची नाेंद झाली. यवतमाळच्या राळेगावला १०५ मिमी, तर अमरावतीच्या धामणगाव येथे ५७.२ मिमी पाऊस झाला. वर्ध्यात दिवसा १३ मिमी पावसासह २४ तासांत १२१.४ मिमी पावसाची नाेंद झाली.
हवामान विभागाने १२ जुलैपर्यंत जाेरदार पावसाचा अंदाज व्यक्त केला होता. त्यानुसार विविध जिल्ह्यांत ठिकठिकाणी पावसाने वेग घेतला आहे. सर्वदूर चांगला पाऊस झाल्याने शेतकऱ्यांनी पेरणी, रोवणीची कामे वेगाने चालविली आहेत. विभागाने सोमवारीही पावसाचा रेड अलर्ट जारी केला आहे. त्यानंतर १३ जुलैपर्यंत ऑरेंज अलर्टसह मुसळधार पावसाची शक्यता वेधशाळेने वर्तविली आहे. काही हवामान तज्ज्ञांच्या मते, विदर्भासह संपूर्ण महाराष्ट्रात २२ जुलैपर्यंत पावसाचा जोर असाच कायम राहणार आहे.
