Ever since the trailer of ZEE5’s next film ‘200 – Halla Ho’ has been released, fans are eagerly waiting for the movie for various reasons including Amol Palekar’s comeback after a decade and the impactful storyline which is inspired by true events.

Directed by Sarthak Dasgupta, 200 – Halla Ho! is a story about how 200 Dalit women united and took law and justice into their own hands by lynching a gangster, robber, and serial rapist in open court.

The trailer reveals nuances of each of the characters played by a talented and eclectic ensemble cast. Inspired by true events, the movie goes on to uncover the shocking events and circumstances which led the 200 women to take such a drastic step to seek justice.

The film, which has some renowned Marathi actors like the veteran Amol Palekar, Sairat girl Rinku Rajguru and National Award winner for Best Actor, Upendra Limaye, will release in Hindi and Marathi on ZEE5.

Amol Palekar said, “I liked the germ in the script since it deals with caste issue which has remained invisible in Indian cinema. Also, I liked the fact that while dealing with the oppression of caste and women, the emphasis is not on their social victimhood. It is a tribute to these women’s mass protest against atrocities of caste and patriarchy. The movie is inspired by true events which I liked rather than showcasing a wishful narrative. My character as a retired Dalit Judge is multi-layered which we finetuned after poignant deliberations.”

Rinku Rajguru said, “This story is inspired by true events, and I saw my character as an opportunity to spread awareness about the injustice faced by women and how it is important to speak up for yourself and for others. Also, I think the first time when Sarthak sir (director of the film) narrated the story, I was moved but the intensity of the reality – on how Dalit women are brutalized every day, and no one even raises a voice against the crime hit me more. As a youngster, my blood just boiled! So, here I am, playing a character who speaks up for herself and for others”.

Written and Directed by Sarthak Dasgupta, produced by Yodlee Films, the film production arm of Saregama, ‘200 – Halla Ho’ will premiere on 20th August on ZEE5.

मुंबई : 2016मध्ये रिलीज झालेल्या ‘सैराट’ या मराठी चित्रपटाने अफाट प्रसिद्धी मिळाली. या चित्रपटाने प्रेक्षकांवर अक्षरशः जादू केली होती. चित्रपटातील प्रत्येक पात्र अजरामर झाले. या चित्रपटातील ‘आर्ची’ अर्थात मुख्य नायिका रिंकू राजगुरू (Rinku Rajguru) हिला या चित्रपटामुळे रातोरात प्रसिद्धी मिळाली. या चित्रपटातून अभिनेत्रीने असे नाव कमावले की, आजही तिला या चित्रपटासाठी विशेष ओळखले जाते. हा चित्रपट रिलीज झाल्यानंतर आर्ची आणि परश्या या जोडीने सर्वांच्या हृदयावर राज्य केले. रिंकू राजगुरूने सिनेमाच्या क्षेत्रात मोठे नाव कमावले आहे. इतकेच नाही तर अभिनेत्रीने आपल्या अभिनयाने सर्वांच्या हृदयात आपलं हक्काचं स्थान निर्माण केलं आहे. आता रिंकू राजगुरू आणखी एक मोठी झेप घेत आहे.

Pegasus Row: Former Supreme Court judge Justice Madan B Lokur and former Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court Justice Jyotirmay Bhattacharya are the members of the Commission of Inquiry announced by the West Bengal government last month.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court today sought responses from the Centre and the West Bengal government on a plea challenging the setting up of a Commission of Inquiry by the state to probe into the Pegasus snooping allegations.
A bench headed by Chief Justice NV Ramana issued notices to the Centre and the West Bengal government on the plea and posted it for hearing on August 25.

Advocate Saurabh Mishra, appearing for the petitioner, told the bench that they have challenged the notification issued by the state government constituting the Commission of Inquiry on the ground of jurisdiction.

“We will issue notice,” the bench, also comprising justices Surya Kant and Aniruddha Bose, said.

Increase your protein intake to get back muscle lost

Protein is one of the most essential nutrients which helps in cell growth and regeneration of the muscles and is widely known as the building block for the body. To replenish this immunity, a high protein diet of about 75 – 100g of protein every day is recommended as per the severity of the disease. Viral Photo Of Over 600 Afghans Packed Into US Plane Defines Kabul Panic

New Delhi: Among the thousands of Afghans who came running to Kabul airport yesterday, over 600 of them managed to fly out in a US Air Force transport plane at the last minute.

Photos of the US Air Force’s C-17 Globemaster III with hundreds of panicked Afghans sitting on the floor of the aircraft have been shared widely.

All of them including women and children do not appear to be carrying any luggage, implying they have left all their belongings behind while fleeing from the Taliban.

The transport aircraft took a total of 640 Afghans, believed to be among the most people ever flown in the C-17, according to the news website Defense One.

This aircraft flew to Qatar, where the Afghans disembarked, the website reported.

Several US Air Force planes struggled initially to take off from Kabul airport yesterday after the facility was overrun by desperate Afghans looking for a way out, a day after the Taliban entered Kabul and took control of the city.

Two Apache attack helicopters were seen in visuals flying low over the tarmac to disperse the crowd and clear the runway for the C-17’s take-off run.

On Monday morning, another video of hundreds of Afghans jostling to climb into an aircraft to fly out of the country amid the Taliban’s return became the latest defining image of desperation in the war-torn country.

Afghanistan is now firmly under Taliban control. The government forces collapsed without the support of the US military, which invaded in 2001 after the September 11 attacks and toppled the Taliban for its support of Al Qaeda.

नागपूर : विदर्भातील महत्त्वाकांक्षी प्रकल्प असलेल्या मिहानला दीड दशकानंतरही हवी तशी गती मिळू शकली नसली तरी करोना काळात सर्वत्र मंदी असताना आयटी आणि एव्हिएशन कंपन्यांनी येथे गुंतवणूक केली आहे.

मिहानमध्ये विशेष आर्थिक क्षेत्र आणि विशेष आर्थिक क्षेत्राबाहेर असे दोन भाग आहेत. येथून विमानाने कार्गोची वाहतूक करणे हा मूळ उद्देश या प्रकल्पाचा आहे. परंतु अजूनही त्यादृष्टीने विमानतळ विकसित झालेले नाही. तसेच अनेक उद्योजकांनी जमीन घेऊन प्रकल्पाला सुरुवात केली नाही. काहींनी प्रकल्प अर्धवट ठेवले आहेत. दरम्यान, करोनामुळे जगभर मंदी होती. गुंतवणूक थंडावली होती. अशाही स्थितीत मिहानमध्ये मात्र आयटी कंपन्या आणि एव्हिएशन कंपन्यांनी गुंतवणूक केली. शिवाय शहरातील अंजनी लॉजिस्टिक्स प्रा. लि. कंपनीने मल्टीस्पेशालिटी हॉस्पिटल अँड नर्सिग होमसाठी मिहानध्ये भूखंड खरेदी केला. या कंपनीने ०.३ एकर जमीन घेतली आहे. त्यामुले एम्सनंतर नवीन वैद्यकीय सुविधा येथे उपलब्ध होणार आहे.

आयटी क्षेत्रातील पर्सिस्टंट टेक्नॉलॉजी आणि विमानसेवा क्षेत्रातील कल्पना सरोज एव्हिएशनने येथे जमीन खरेदी केली आहे. पर्सिस्टंट टेक्नॉलॉजीला १३ हेक्टर, कल्पना सरोज एव्हिएशनला १ एकर आणि आरोग्य क्षेत्रातील अंजनी लॉजिस्टिकला ०.३० हेक्टर जमिनीचे वाटप झाले आहे.

या तिन्ही कंपन्यांनी आतापर्यंत १५ कोटींची जमीन खरेदी केली आहे. त्यात अंदाजे ५०० कोटींची गुंतवणूक आणि दीड हजार लोकांना रोजगार मिळणे अपेक्षित आहे.

येथे आधीपासून एअर इंडियाचे विमान देखभाल दुरुस्ती केंद्र (एमआरओ) आहे. शिवाय धीरूभाई अंबानी एअरोस्पेस, कल्पना एव्हिएशन आणि थॅल्स कंपन्यांची गुंतवणूक आहे. यासोबतच एलन एअरक्रॉफ्ट रेडिओ-अंदामर या कंपनीने गुंतवणूक केली आहे. या कंपनीने ३० एकर जागा खरेदी केली आहे. ते येथे लहान विमानांची देखभाल-दुरुस्ती करीत आहेत.

त्यामुळे मिहान आयटी सोबत एव्हिशन हब होण्याचे दिशेने पाऊल पडले आहे. यासंदर्भात एमएडीसीचे व्यवस्थापकीय संचालक दीपक कपूर म्हणाले, आयटी नंतर एव्हिशनवर लक्ष केंद्रित केले जात आहे. रिलायन्स-द सॉल्त (द्राल) फॉल्कन तयार करीत आहे. आता इंदमारचा एमआरओ सुरू झाला आहे. टीएलएसएल, कल्पना एव्हिएशन आले आहे.

कल्पना एव्हिएशन वैमानिक प्रशिक्षण देणार आहे. याशिवाय आयटी कंपनी एचसीलएलची विस्तार योजना आहे. त्यामुळे मिहानमध्ये आयटी आणि एव्हिएशन हब निर्माण होईल, असा विश्वासही कपूर यांनी व्यक्त केला.

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 Fixtures revealed : आंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट परिषदेनं ( ICC) मंगळवारी ट्वेंटी-२० वर्ल्ड कप स्पर्धेचे वेळापत्रक जाहीर केले. १७ ऑक्टोबरपासून यूएईत होणाऱ्या ट्वेंटी-२० वर्ल्ड कपची गटवारी आयसीसीनं आधीच जाहीर केली होती, फक्त कोणता संधी कधी, कुठे व कोणाशी भिडेल याची चाहत्यांना उत्सुकता होती. विशेष म्हणजे भारत-पाकिस्तान यांच्यातल्या सामन्याच्या तारखेची चाहते आतुरतेनं वाट पाहत होते. अखेरीस आयसीसीन या सर्वांवरील पडदा हटवला अन् आज संपूर्ण वेळापत्रक जाहीर केले.

सुरुवातीला पात्रता सामने खेळले जातील. त्यात आठ संघ असून प्रत्येक गटात ४-४ संघांचा समावेश आहे. दोन्ही गटातील अव्वल दोन संघ सुपर १२ फेरीसाठी पात्र ठरतील. सुपर १२ फेरीत ६-६ संघांचे दोन गट तयार करण्यात आले आहेत. एक संघ पाच सामने खेळेल. सुपर १२ संघ २० मार्च २०२१ च्या आयसीसी क्रमवारीनुसार निश्चित करण्यात आले आहेत. सुपर १२ फेरीनंतर दोन्ही गटातील अव्वल प्रत्येकी दोन संघ उपांत्य फेरीसाठी पात्र ठरतील. उपांत्य फेरीतील विजेते १४ नोव्हेंबर रोजी जेतेपदासाठी खेळतील.

अफगाणिस्तान संघर्ष : जीवाच्या भीतीने १३४ क्षमतेच्या विमानात घुसले ८०० लोक

अफगाणिस्तान मध्ये तालिबान मधील संघर्ष आता मानवी जीवनाच्या मूळावर उठला आहे. मृत्यूचे भय आणि सैतानांच्या तावडीतून सुटण्याचे हरप्रकारे प्रयत्न याचे भयावह दृश्य अमेरिकन विमानाचा फोटो व्हायरल झाल्यानंतर मिळते.

अमेरिकन सैन्याच्या विमानात तब्बल ८०० जण बसले आणि त्यांच्या डोळ्यातील भीती पाहून क्रू मेंबर्सन विमान उड्डाण करण्याचा निर्णय घेतला.

तालिबान्यांनी अफगाणिस्तानावर कब्जा केल्यानंतर लोक देश सोडून पळत आहेत.

अफगाणिस्तान आणि तालिबान मधील संघर्ष तेथील नागरिकांसाठी आता मृत्यूची चाहूल घेऊन येत आहे. राजधानी काबूल येथे हमीद करजई एअरपोर्टवर विमानाला लटकून देश सोडण्याच्या प्रयत्नात सोमवारी दोघांचा मृत्यू झाला होता.

अशाच प्रकारे भीती आणि हतबलतेमुळे १३४ मर्यादा असलेल्या विमानात तब्बल ८०० जण बसले.

अमेरिकी वायुदलाच्या केसी-१७ ग्लोबमास्टरचे छायाचित्र व्हायरल झाल्यानंतर भयावह दृश्य समोर आले.

काबूल एअरपोर्टच्या रनवे वर विमानासोबत पळणाऱ्या लोकांच्या डोळ्यातील भीती स्पष्ट दिसते.

आता विमानाच्या आतील दृश्य समोर आल्यानंतर भीती काय असते याचे चित्रच जगासमोर उभे राहिले आहे.

बंदूकीच्या टोकावर उभ्या असलेल्या देशाला रामराम करत अफगाणिस्तानचे लोक बाहेर पडू इच्छितात.

तरीही उड्डाण

एका अधिकाऱ्याने सांगितले की, विमानाचा दरवाजा उघडताच अनेक अफगाणिस्ताचे लोक विमानात घुसले.

या विमानात इतके लोक पेलण्याची ताकद नाही. पण क्रू मेंबर्सनी कुणालाही बाहेर काढले नाही.

त्यांना घेऊनच उड्डाण करण्याचा निर्णय घेतला. क्रू मेंबरचा एक ऑडिओ सोशल मीडियावर व्हायरल होत असून त्यात त्यांनी सर्वांना वस्तुस्थिती सांगितली आहे.

या ८०० प्रवाशांत ६५० अफगाण नागरिक होते.

विमानात केवळ १३४ लोकांसाठी जागा

अमेरिकेच्या या विशाल विमानात केवळ १३४ लोक बसू शकतात. विमानाच्या आत ८० लोक पॅलेटवर आणि साईडवॉल सीटवर ५४ लोक बसू शकतात. परंतु या विमानाचा फोटो आल्यानंतर बाकी लोक खाली बसल्याचे दिसत आहे.

२० वर्षांनंतर अफगाणिस्तानची सूत्रे तालिबानच्या हातात आली आहेत. लोक या हुकुमशाही राजवटीतून सुटका करून घेऊ पाहत आहेत.

अतिरेकी आणि क्रूर चेहऱ्यांना घाबरून अफगान लोक देश सोडत आहेत. अफगाणी लोक पुन्हा परावलंबी आयुष्य जगू इच्छित नाहीत.

त्यामुळेच तालिबानने कब्जा करताच लोक देश सोडून पळून जात आहेत.

पवनदीप राजन इंडियन आयडल-१२ शोचा विजेता

मुंबई: इंडियन आयडल १२ ची ट्रॉफी पवनदीप राजन याने जिंकली आहे. अनेक स्पर्धकांना मागे टाकत अखेर तो या शोचा विजेता बनला. २५ लाखांच्या बक्षिसाच्या रकमेसह पवनदीप राजन लक्झरी कारचा मानकरी ठरला आहे.

देशातील सर्वांत लोकप्रिय रिॲलिटी शो दीर्घकाळ आणि अनेक चढ-उतारांनी भरलेलं होतं. कोरोना काळात हा शो सुरु झाला. मध्यंतरी अशी एक वेळ आली की, जेव्हा शोचे शूटिंग, शेड्यूल आणि लोकेशन सर्वकाही चेंज करावं लागलं.

या शोचा विजेता कोण असणार, याचीच सर्वांना उत्सुकता लागून राहिली होती. पण, १५ ऑगस्ट रोजी इंडियन आयडलचा विनर ठरला. पवनदीप राजनने या शोची ट्रॉफी जिंकली. तसेच २५ लाख रुपये आणि लख्झरी कारदेखील मिळवले.

दुसऱ्या क्रमांकावर अरुणिता कांजीलाल तर तिसऱ्या क्रमांकावर सायली कांबळेने स्थान पक्के केले.

चौथ्या क्रमांकावर मोहम्मद दानिश, पाचव्या क्रमांकावर निहाल आणि शनमुखप्रियाला सर्वात कमी मते मिळाली. ती सहाव्या क्रमांकावर राहिली.

यावेळी फिनालेच्या रेसमध्ये स्पर्धकांना खूप आव्हानात्मक संघर्ष करावा लागला. स्पर्धकांनी आव्हानांचा सामना करत आणि दमदार परफॉर्मन्स देत टॉप सहामध्ये येण्यासाठी मेहनत घेतली.

ही पहिलचं वेळ होती की, जेव्हा इंडियन आयडलच्या फिनालेमध्ये ५ च्या जाग ६ कंटेस्टेंट्सने स्थान मिळवले.

सैनिक स्कूल : आता मुलींना सुद्धा प्रवेश मिळणार! कशी आहे प्रवेश प्रक्रिया?

सैनिक स्कूल : पंतप्रधान नरेंद्र मोदी यांनी आज 15 ऑगस्ट रोजी लाल किल्ल्यावरून देशाला संबोधित केले. यावेळी त्यांनी एक नवीन योजना सुरू केली, नंतर आत्मनिर्भर होण्याच्या मुद्द्याचा पुनरुच्चार केला. देशातील मुलींच्या शिक्षणाबाबतही घोषणा करण्यात आली. देशाच्या सैनिक शाळांमध्ये आता मुलीही शिकू शकतील अशी ही घोषणा होती.

पंतप्रधान मोदी म्हणाले,

आज मी देशवासियांसोबत एक आनंद शेअर करत आहे. मला लाखो मुलींकडून संदेश येत असत की त्यांनाही सैनिक शाळेत शिकायचे आहे. त्यांच्यासाठी सैनिक शाळेचे दरवाजे उघडले पाहिजेत. अडीच वर्षांपूर्वी आम्ही मिझोरामच्या सैनिक शाळेत मुलींना पहिल्यांदा प्रवेश देण्याचा एक छोटासा प्रयोग सुरू केला.

आता सरकारने ठरवले आहे की देशातील सर्व सैनिक शाळा देशातील मुलींसाठी देखील उघडल्या जातील. आता मुलीही सर्व सैनिक शाळेत शिकतील.

याशिवाय, शिक्षण क्षेत्रात पीएम मोदींनी लडाखचाही उल्लेख केला. म्हणाले की, सिंधू सेंट्रल युनिव्हर्सिटी आता लडाखला उच्च शिक्षणाचे केंद्र होत आहे. ते म्हणाले की, जग आज लडाखमध्ये आधुनिक पायाभूत सुविधांच्या उभारणीचे साक्षीदार होत आहे.

सैनिक शाळेबद्दल

देशात 33 सैनिक शाळा आहेत. आतापर्यंत सैनिक शाळांमध्ये फक्त मुलेच प्रवेश घेऊ शकत होती. या शाळा संरक्षण मंत्रालयाच्या प्रशासकीय नियंत्रणाखाली असलेल्या सैनिक स्कूल सोसायटीद्वारे चालवल्या जातात.

सैनिक शाळा स्थापन करण्याचा उद्देश संरक्षण अकादमींमध्ये भरतीमध्ये प्रादेशिक असमतोल दूर करणे हा होता.

याशिवाय, या शाळांच्या माध्यमातून अशा तरुणांची निवड करायची होती जे येथून बाहेर पडून देशाच्या सेवेत भागीदार होऊ शकतील. हे लहानपणापासूनच विद्यार्थ्यांना भारतीय सशस्त्र दलात प्रवेशासाठी तयार करत आहे. आता मुलीही या शाळांमध्ये प्रवेश घेऊ शकतील.

जर एखाद्याला आपल्या मुलाला सैनिक शाळेत प्रवेश द्यायचा असेल तर त्याला 6 वी ते 9 वी मध्ये शिकत असताना प्रवेश घ्यावा लागेल.

या शाळा इंग्रजी माध्यमातून आणि निवासी आहेत आणि सीबीएसई अभ्यासक्रम शिकवला जातो.

सैनिक शाळा कॅडेट्सच्या सर्वांगीण विकासावर भर देतात. येथे विद्यार्थी देशाच्या संरक्षण सेवांमध्ये अधिकारी म्हणून नेतृत्व करण्यास तयार केले जाते.

ग्रामीण मुलांना सुद्धा दर्जेदार शिक्षण देण्याबरोबरच त्यांच्यामध्ये देशप्रेमाची भावना निर्माण करणे हा उद्देश आहे.

या शाळांमध्ये गरीब कुटुंबातील मुले, जर ते हुशार असतील तर त्यांना सर्व प्रकारच्या मदतीने पुढे नेले जाते.

Panel For Pegasus “To Dispel Wrong Narrative”, Center Tells Supreme Court

Pegasus Row: “The government will constitute a committee of experts in the field to go into all aspects of the issue,” the Centre said.

New Delhi: The Pegasus snooping allegations are based on conjectures and “unsubstantiated media reports” and will be examined by a group of experts to dispel any wrong narrative, the government told the Supreme Court today.

In a two-page affidavit filed by the Additional Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the Centre denied allegations linked to recent reports that Israeli Pegasus spyware – sold only to governments – was used to target opposition leaders, journalists, and others.

The document said the government “unequivocally denies” allegations and they are “based on conjectures and surmises or on other unsubstantiated media reports or incomplete or uncorroborated material”.

The petitioners “have not made out any case”, the government told the court. But “to dispel any wrong narrative spread by certain vested interests and with an object of examining the issues raised”, the government will constitute a committee of experts in the field to go into all aspects of the issue, the affidavit said, citing the statement in parliament by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav.

मुख्यमंत्र्यांच्या घरावर पेट्रोल बॉम्ब हल्ला; सुरक्षेत वाढ: मेघालयचे मुख्यमंत्री कॉनराड संगमा यांच्या निवासस्थानावर पेट्रोल बॉम्ब हल्ला केला आहे. सध्या मेघालयमध्ये संचारबंदी लागू असून गेल्या दोन दिवसांपासून येथील वातावरण खूप तणावपूर्ण आहे.

मेघालयमध्ये माजी बंडखोर नेता चेरिशस्टारफील्ड थांगखू याच्या मृत्यूवरुन हिंसाचार वाढत आहे.

रविवारी आंदोलकांनी मेघालयचे मुख्यमंत्री कॉनराड संगमा यांच्या खासगी निवासस्थानावर हल्ला केला.

मेघालयात तोडफोड आणि जाळपोळीच्या घटनेनंतर राज्याच्या अनेक भागांमध्ये मोबाईल इंटरनेट सेवाही बंद करण्यात आली आहे.

तत्पुर्वी रविवारी स्वातंत्र्यदिनाच्या सोहळ्यादरम्यान काही हिंसक घटना घडल्या. त्यामुळे राज्याचे गृहमंत्री लखन रिंबुई यांनी सायंकाळी राजीनामा दिला. तर मुख्यमंत्र्यांच्या घरावर पेट्रोल बॉम्ब हल्ला झाला आहे. त्यामुळे वातावरण तणावपूर्ण बनले आहे.

हिंसक घटनांनंतर शिलाँगमध्ये संपूर्ण संचारबंदी लागू करण्यात आली आहे. राजधानी आणि राज्याच्या इतर भागांमध्ये इंटरनेट सेवा बंद करण्यात आली आहे.

राज्य सरकारच्या आदेशात असे म्हटले आहे की १७ ऑगस्ट पर्यंत संचारबंदी कायम राहणार असून परिस्थिती पाहून इंटरनेट सेवा सुरु करण्यात येईल.

शिलाँगच्या जाआव परिसरातील मावकीनरोह परिसरात पोलिस वाहनाला आज दुपारी अज्ञात व्यक्तींनी आग लावली.

यावेळी मानकीनरोह पोलिस ठाण्याचे प्रभारी अधिकारी आणि कर्मचारी थोडक्यात वाचले.

संशयास्पद मृत्यू

माजी विद्रोही नेता चेरिशस्टारफिल्ड थांगखुय याच्या घरी पोलिसांनी काही दिवसांपूर्वी छापा टाकला होता. त्यात त्याचा संशयास्पदरित्या मृत्यू झाला होता.

थांगखूच्या कुटुंबाने त्याच्या मृत्यूला ‘पोलिसांनी केलेली क्रूर हत्या’ म्हटले त्यानंतर राज्यात हिंसाचार उसळला होता. पेट्रोल बॉम्ब हल्ला झाल्याने वातावरण आणखी तापले आहे.

त्याच्या अंत्ययात्रेत शेकडो लोक काळे झेंडे घेऊन सहभागी झाले. शनिवारी मेघालयचे मुख्यमंत्री कॉनराड संगमा यांनी या प्रकरणाची दंडाधिकाऱ्यांमार्फत चौकशी करण्याचे आदेश दिले होते.

नवी दिल्ली : भारतीय स्वातंत्र्यदिनाच्या (Independence Day) निमित्ताने देशामध्ये सुरक्षेचा कडेकोट बंदोबस्त करण्यात आला आहे. दिल्लीच्या लाल किल्ल्यावरुन भारतीय पंतप्रधानांचे करण्यात येणारे संबोधन लक्षात घेता सुरक्षेचा उपाय म्हणून लाल किल्ल्याच्या आजूबाजूला शिपिंग कंटेनरच्या इमारती उभारण्यात आल्या आहेत. या कंटेनरच्या इमारतींच्या माध्यमातून ‘राष्ट्र प्रथम-सदैव प्रथम’ हा संदेश देण्यात येणार असून देशाच्या सांस्कृतीक, वैज्ञानिक आणि राष्ट्राशी संबंधित इतर पेंटिंगही त्यावर दिसून येणार आहेत.

सुरक्षेच्या कारणास्तवर उभारण्यात येणाऱ्या या कंटेनरच्या इमारतींवर महात्मा गांधी, सरदार पटेल, भगत सिंह आणि नेताजी सुभाष चंद्र बोस यांच्या प्रतिमा दिसणार आहेत. या कंटेनरच्या दुसऱ्या बाजूला तिरंग्याची प्रतिमा रंगवण्यात येणार आहे.

स्वातंत्र्यदिनाच्या पार्श्वभूमीवर संभाव्य ड्रोन हल्ला लक्षात घेता या शिपिंग कंटेनरच्या इमारती उभारण्यात आल्या आहेत असं दिल्ली पोलिसांनी सांगितलं. मात्र याला आणखी एक कारण असल्याचं सांगण्यात येतंय. दिल्लीमध्ये नवीन कृषी कायद्यांविरोधात शेतकऱ्यांचे आंदोलन सुरु आहे. स्वातंत्र्यदिनाच्या निमित्ताने शेतकरी दिल्लीच्या लाल किल्ला परिसरात आंदोलन करण्याची शक्यता आहे. त्यामुळे सुरक्षेचा उपाय म्हणून लाल किल्ल्याकडे जाणाऱ्या रस्त्यांवर शिपिंग कंटेनरच्या भिंती उभारण्यात आल्याचं सांगण्यात येतंय.

स्वातंत्र्यदिनाच्या पार्श्वभूमीवर घातपाताचा धोका लक्षात घेता देशातील महत्वाच्या शहरांमध्ये चोख बंदोबस्त करण्यात आला आहे. या स्वातंत्र्य दिनी मुंबईतील कायदा सुव्यवस्था अबाधित रहावी, कोणताही घातपात घडू नये म्हणून मुंबई पोलिसांनी काल रात्री पासून ‘मिशन ऑलआउट’ सुरू केले आहे. या मिशन अंतर्गत मुंबईच्या रस्त्यांवर मोठ्या प्रमाणात नाकाबंदी करण्यात आली आहे. छोट्या रस्त्यांवर पेट्रोलिंग देखील मोठ्या प्रमाणात करण्यात येत आहे. मुंबईच्या वेशीतून आत येणाऱ्या प्रत्येक गाडीची तपासणी केली जात आहे. मुंबईचे महत्त्वाचे प्रवेशद्वार असलेल्या आनंदनगर टोल नाक्यावर मुंबई पोलिसांची मोठी नाकाबंदी लावण्यात आली आहे.

New Delhi: Underscoring that the pain of Partition can never be forgotten, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced that August 14 will be observed as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, a day before India celebrates its 75th Independence Day.

“Partition’s pains can never be forgotten. Millions of our sisters and brothers were displaced and many lost their lives due to mindless hate and violence. In memory of the struggles and sacrifices of our people, 14th August will be observed as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day,” tweeted PM Modi.

The Prime Minister stressed that the day will serve as a reminder to keep the social divisions at bay and strengthen the spirit of oneness.

“May the #PartitionHorrorsRemembranceDay keep reminding us of the need to remove the poison of social divisions, disharmony and further strengthen the spirit of oneness, social harmony, and human empowerment,” the PM said in his second tweet.

Pakistan was carved out as a Muslim country after the division of India by the British colonial rule in 1947, and millions of people were displaced and many lakhs of them lost their lives as large-scale rioting broke out. Noakhali in West Bengal and Bihar witnessed large-scale violence.

Mahatma Gandhi decided to stay put in Noakhali and toured the district on a mission to restore peace and communal harmony.

Partition remains a bitter and painful memory in the history of the two nations.

Rahul Gandhi had yesterday released a video message on YouTube, lashing out at Twitter.

New Delhi: Twitter today restored Rahul Gandhi’s account, along with that of the Congress and its other leaders, a week after it was temporarily suspended for tweeting pictures of the family of a nine-year-old victim of alleged rape and murder in Northwest Delhi. The move came a day after he lashed out at the microblogging site.

“All Congress accounts have been unlocked. No reason has been given by Twitter for the unlocking,” Rohan Gupta, the Congress in charge of social media accounts.

The party also clarified that it had not deleted its Twitter account.

Earlier, Twitter had deemed the sharing of the images of the reported rape victim’s family a violation of its rules.

In response, the former Congress chief had, yesterday, accused Twitter of “interfering in the national political process” and said shutting down of his handle amounted to an “attack on the country’s democratic structure”.

Mr. Gandhi, in a YouTube video statement titled “Twitter’s dangerous game”, alleged that the microblogging site was not a neutral and objective platform and was “beholden to the government”.

Questioning Twitter’s locking of his handle, he said millions of his followers were unfairly denied the right to an opinion.

“It’s obvious now that Twitter is actually not a neutral, objective platform. It is a biased platform. It’s something that listens to what the government of the day says,” he alleged.

In the wake of the friction with the Congress, Twitter has transferred its India head Manish Maheshwari, against whom an FIR was registered in Uttar Pradesh in connection with a probe related to a video of an alleged hate crime, to the US.

While the company did not specify any reason for the change, it said Maheshwari will move to the US as Senior Director (Revenue Strategy and Operations) and focus on new markets in his new role.

Posting a message on Facebook, Singh said, “The attack at the residence is highly condemnable and it is the handiwork of those who have developed vested interested in not allowing democratic and political processes to flourish”.

“But certainly this cannot discourage Prime Minister Modi’s determined commitment to grassroots democracy in Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.

On Thursday, a 4-year-old was killed and at least seven people were injured in a grenade attack on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Jasbir Singh’s house in the Khandli area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district o. The deceased minor was the nephew of Jasbir Singh.

Jammu ADGP confirmed that the grenade attack was carried out by unknown persons on BJP leader Jasbir Singh’s house in the handle area of Rajouri when the family was on their terrace.

The People’s Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF) has claimed responsibility for the grenade attack.

However, the claim is being ascertained by agencies.

मुंबई : राज ठाकरे म्हणाले राष्ट्रवादीच्या जन्मानंतर महाराष्ट्रात जातीयवाद बोकाळला . आपल्या राजकीय स्वार्थासाठी समाजात जाती- जातीचे विष पेरले जात आहे. अलीकडे जातीचा मुद्दा हा त्या त्या समाजाच्या नेत्यांच्या आयडेंटिटीचा मुद्दा बनला आहे. देशाला विचार देणारा महाराष्ट्र आता यूपी- बिहारच्या पातळीवर घसरत चालला आहे. राज्यात राष्ट्रवादी काँग्रेस पक्षाच्या जन्मानंतर जातीचा मुद्दा मोठा होत गेला, असा थेट आरोप मनसेप्रमुख राज ठाकरे यांनी गुरुवारी केला.

एका खासगी वृत्तवाहिनीला दिलेल्या मुलाखतीत राज ठाकरे बोलत होते. राज्यातील आरक्षण व जातीपातीच्या राजकारणावर भाष्य करताना राज यांनी राष्ट्रवादी काँग्रेसला जबाबदार ठरवत सांगितले की, कोण हा जेम्स लेन? ज्याने पुस्तक लिहले? तो काय जॉर्ज बर्नार्ड शॉ होता काय? आता कुठे आहे तो, कोणी ओळखतंय का त्याला?. पण हे सगळे ठरवून केले गेले

अमूक जातीच्या लोकांनी लेनला चुकीचा इतिहास व माहिती सांगितल्याचा प्रचार केला गेला. आपल्या राजकीय स्वार्थासाठी असे वातावरण तयार केले जाते.

या घटना तत्कालिक असतात पण त्याचे परिणाम भयंकर आहेत, अशी खंत त्यांनी व्यक्त केली. मराठा आरक्षणाला कोणाचाच विरोध नव्हता तर मग आरक्षणाला कोणाचा अडथळा आहे? मराठा आरक्षणाचा शेवटी खेळच झाला, मी आधीच तसे सांगितले होते.

पण आपल्या देशात काही प्रश्न सुटणे ही समस्या मानली जाते. काही प्रश्न रेंगाळत ठेवल्याने अनेकांची घरे भरतात. जातीचे राजकारण संपल्याशिवाय आपल्याला पुढे जाता जाणार नाही, असेही राज ठाकरे यांनी सांगितले.

महाराष्ट्रात आधीपासूनच जात ही गोष्ट होती. मात्र स्वजातीचा अभिमान इतपतच ती मर्यादित होती. मात्र मागील २० वर्षांपासून लोक स्वत:च्या जातीच्या अभिमानासोबतच इतरांचा तिरस्कार करण्यापर्यंत पोहोचले आहेत आणि राजकीय स्वार्थातून हे सगळं केलं गेलं आहे. जातीचा मुद्दा हा त्यांच्या त्यांच्या नेत्यांच्या आयडेंटीटीचा भाग झाला आहे. महाराष्ट्रात राष्ट्रवादी काँग्रेसच्या जन्मानंतरच जातीचा मुद्दा हा सर्वार्थाने मोठा झाला आहे,’ असं राज ठाकरे यांनी म्हटलं आहे.

लहान मुलं काय पाहणार; त्यावर गुगलचं लक्ष राहणार! १८ वर्षांहून कमी वयोगटातील युजर्ससाठी येत्या काही महिन्यांत गुगल (Google) अनेक बदल करणार आहे. हे बदल गुगल अकाउंट्सबाबत आहेत. यातून लहान मुलांना ऑनलाईन फ्रॉडपासून वाचवलं जाण्याचा प्रयत्न होणार आहे.

मुलांकडून मोठ्या प्रमाणात इंटरनेटचा वापर केला जात आहे, त्यामुळे पालक काळजीत आहेत. त्यामुळे गुगलच्या या निर्णयामुळे आता पालकांना काहीसा दिलासा मिळू शकतो. टेक कंपनी गुगलने बुधवारी आपल्या ब्लॉग पोस्टच्या माध्यमातून ही माहिती दिली.

कंपनी संवेदनशील कॅटेगरीतील जाहिराती (Sensitive Ads) अल्पवयीन मुलांना दाखवण्यापासून रोखण्यासाठी सुरक्षा उपायांचा विस्तार करेल, असं कंपनीने आपल्या ब्लॉग पोस्टमध्ये म्हटलं आहे.

कंपनीकडून १८ वर्षांहून कमी वय असलेल्या मुलांसाठी लिंगाच्या आधारे जाहिरातींवर रोख लावण्यात येणार आहे. कंपनीने दिलेल्या माहितीनुसार, येत्या काही महिन्यांत जागतिक स्तरावर हे अपडेट रोल आउट करण्यास सुरू करणार आहे. गुगलवर (Google) जाहिरातींसाठी अतिरिक्त सुरक्षा प्रदान करणं हेच लक्ष्य आहे, तसेच वयानुसार जाहिराती दाखवण्यात येणार आहेत.

Mumbai Records First Death From Delta Plus Covid Variant

Mumbai: Mumbai has reported its first death from the Delta Plus Covid variant. A 63-year-old woman died on July 27 after testing positive on July 21. She had several comorbidities including diabetes, according to officials.

The Mumbai woman was fully vaccinated and among seven patients in the city whose reports turned out positive for the Delta Plus variant.

The results of genome sequencing from the woman’s samples arrived on Wednesday.

Mumbai’s civic body BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) started contacting the seven patients after receiving the results from the state health department.

Two of her close contacts have also tested positive for Delta Plus. She didn’t have any travel history.

The woman was on oxygen support and was administered steroids and Remdesivir, according to officials.

The Delta Plus is a mutation of the Delta, the highly contagious Covid variant first detected in India.

Along with seven samples from Mumbai, 13 more have tested positive for the Delta Plus variant across Maharashtra, according to the state government. Three cases are in Pune, two each in Nanded, Gondia, Raigad, and Palghar, and one each in Chandrapur and Akola.

With this, the number of Delta Plus patients has increased to 65.

The mutant Covid strain was also found in seven children and eight senior citizens. Maharashtra health department officials are trying to trace people who have recently come into contact with infected patients.

On Wednesday, the central government said the Delta Plus has been detected in 86 cases across the country but there is no “exponential surge” so far.

The most were detected in Maharashtra, followed by Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, Sujit Singh, the chief of the National Centre for Disease Control, told reporters at the Union Health Ministry briefing.

“This variant, through its transmission, has not led to any major exponential surge,” Mr. Singh said.

The Delta variant drove the deadly second wave of the coronavirus in April-May that overwhelmed the country’s health infrastructure and left thousands desperate for hospital beds, oxygen, medicines, and vaccine.

‘त्या’ दिवशी राज्यात पुन्हा कडक लॉकडाऊन लागू करणार

मुबंई: राज्यात १५ ऑगस्टपासून निर्बंध शिथिल केले असले तरी पुन्हा रुग्ण वाढल्यास कडक लॉकडाऊन करण्यात येईल , असा इशारा आरोग्यमंत्री राजेश टोपे यांनी दिला आहे. १५ ऑगस्टपासून निर्बंध शिथिल करण्याची घोषणा केली आहे.

१५ ऑगस्टपासून रुग्णसंख्या कमी असलेल्या ठिकाणी निर्बंधांमध्ये शिथिलता देण्यात आली आहे. याबाबत राज्य मंत्रिमंडळाच्या बैठकीत चर्चा करण्यात आली. लोकल प्रवास, हॉटेल, रेस्टॉरंट्स, नाट्यगृहे, मॉल्स, मंगल कार्यालये यासंदर्भात नियमावली जाहीर केली आहे.

दुसऱ्या लाटेत ऑक्सिजनच्या कमतरतेमुळे अनेकांना प्राण गमावावे लागले होते. अनेकांना प्राथमिक उपचारही मिळाले नाहीत त्यामुळे होलपट झाली होती.

राज्यात पहिल्यापासून कोरोनाच्या रुग्णांची संख्या घटलेली दिसत नाही. त्यामुळे राज्य सरकार सावध पावले टाकत आहे.

अजूनही रुग्णसंख्या समाधानकारक नसल्याने राज्यात पुन्हा तिसरी लाट येऊ शकते. त्यामुळे पुन्हा कडक लॉकडाऊन करण्यात येईल, असेही टोपे म्हणाले.

ऑक्सिजनचा मोठा साठा लागेल

तिसरी लाट आणि तिसऱ्या लाटेच्या अनुषंगाने महाराष्ट्रात एकूण उत्पादित होणारा लिक्विड मेडिकल ऑक्सिजन १३०० मेट्रिक टन आहे.

औद्योगिक क्षेत्राने अजून २०० ते ३०० मेट्रिक टन ऑक्सिजन वाढवण्याची खात्री दिली आहे. राज्यात एकूण ४५० पीएसए प्लांट्सची प्रस्तावित आहेत.

त्यापैकी १४१ प्लांट्समध्ये ऑक्सिजन निर्मितीच्या कामाला सुरुवात झाली आहे.

ही सर्व क्षमता जरी वापरली, तरी १७०० ते २००० मेट्रिक टनपर्यंत आपल्याला जास्तीत जास्त ऑक्सिजन उपलब्ध होऊ शकणार आहे.

तिसऱ्या लाटेत ३८०० मेट्रिक टनापर्यंत ऑक्सिजन लागण्याची शक्यात आहे.

इतर राज्यांत देखील ऑक्सिजन मोठ्या प्रमाणावर लागत असल्यामुळे केंद्राकडून वेळेवर किती मदत मिळू शकेल, हे सांगता येणं शक्य नाही.’

मुंबई : राज्यातील हॉटेल (Hotel) , रेस्तराँ, मॉल्स ‘या’ तारखेपासून होणार सूरू राज्य मंत्रींमंडळाची आज महत्वपूर्ण बैठक पार पडली. या बैठकीत राज्यातील निर्बंध शिथील करण्याबाबत मोठा निर्णय घेण्यात आला. राज्यातील हॉटेल (Hotel) व्यावसियकांसाठी हा निर्णय दिलासादायक ठरणार आहे. आरोग्यमंत्री राजेश टोपे यांनी पत्रकारपरिषदेत याबाबत माहिती दिली आहे.

आरोग्यमंत्री राजेश टोपे यांच्या माहितीनुसार १५ ऑगस्टपासून राज्यभरातील हॉटेल (Hotel), रेस्तराँ, मॉल्सलाही रात्री १० वाजपेर्यंत सुरू ठेवण्यास परवानगी असणार आहे.

मात्र करोना प्रतिबंधात्मक लसीचे दोन डोस घेतलेल्यांन्याच मॉलमध्ये प्रवेश असणार असल्याचेही सांगण्यात आले आहे. तर, धार्मिकस्थळ व सिनेमागृह पुढील आदेशापर्यंत बंदच राहणार आहेत.

आरोग्यमंत्री राजेश टोपे म्हणाले, आरोग्य विभागाच्या माध्यमातून मुख्यमंत्र्यांकडे प्रस्ताव गेला होता. ज्यामध्ये निर्बंध कमी करण्याच्या संदर्भात शिफारसी करण्यात आल्या होत्या. त्याला मुख्यमंत्र्यांनी मान्यता दिलेली आहे. ते म्हणाले की नियमांमध्ये दिलेली शिथिलता येत्या १५ ऑगस्टपासून लागू होणार आहे.

संघटनांकडून स्वागत

मिशन बिगीन अगेन अंतर्गत रेस्टॉरंट उशीरापर्यंत सुरु ठेवण्याच्या शासन निर्णयाचे आहार (इंडियन हॉटेल अँड रेस्टॉरंट असोसिएशन) या रेस्टॉरंट चालकांच्या शिखर संघटनेसह इतर संघटनांनी मनापासून स्वागत केले आहे.

शासनाच्या नव्या नियमावलीनुसार राज्यातील रेस्टॉरंट आता रात्री 10 वाजेपर्यंत खुली ठेवता येणार आहेत. दरम्यान, ग्राहकांसाठी 50 टक्के क्षमतेची मर्यादा कायम ठेवण्यात आली आहे.

या नव्या नियमांवर आहारचे अध्यक्ष शिवानंद शेट्टी यांनी प्रतिक्रिया दिली. ते म्हणाले, रेस्टॉरंटमध्ये डायनिंग सेवेस रात्री 10 वाजेपर्यंत परवानगी देण्याचा निर्णय घेतल्याने आनंद होत आहे. शासनाच्या या निर्णयाचे नक्कीच स्वागत करावे लागेल.

रेस्टॉरंट चालवण्याच्या वेळेत वाढ करण्यासाठी संघटनेकडून सातत्याने मुख्यमंत्री आणि इतर निर्धारित मंत्री व अधिकाऱ्यांसोबत चर्चा व बैठकांचे सत्र सुरु होते. या निर्णयामुळे संघटनेच्या सर्वच पदाधिकाऱ्यांच्या प्रयत्नांना यश मिळाले आहे.

ते पुढे म्हणाले की, ‘आम्ही आमच्या सदस्यांनाही नियमावलीचे कठोर पालन करण्याच्या सुचना केल्या आहेत. आरोग्याची काळजी घेत सर्व संबंधित सरकारी यंत्रणाना सहकार्य करण्याचे आवाहनही केले आहे.’

कोरोना रुग्णांची घटती संख्या पाहता लवकरच प्रशासनाकडून सर्वच निर्बंध लवकरच हटवले जातील आणि परिस्थिती पूर्ववत होईल, अशी अपेक्षा शिवानंद शेट्टी यांनी व्यक्त केली आहे.

लसीकरण : स्तनदा मातांनी घ्या ‘कोव्हिड-19’ची लस

कोरोना विषाणूचा प्रसार रोखण्यासाठी ‘कोव्हिड-19’ लसीकरण हा एक प्रभावी उपाय आहे. ‘कोव्हिड-19’ची लस मात्र, लसीकरणासंदर्भात लोकांच्या मनात भीती असल्याने बहुतेक लोक लसीकरण करून घेण्यास टाळाटाळ करीत आहेत. त्यातच आता स्तनदा मातांसाठी लसीकरणाचा मार्ग मोकळा करून दिला आहे. मात्र, लसीकरणाबाबत अनेक गैरसमज असल्याने स्तनपान करणार्‍या महिला ही लस घेण्यास पुढे येताना दिसून येत नाहीत.

स्तनपान करणार्‍या मातांनी ‘कोव्हिड -19’ लसीकरण करून घेणे खूप गरजेचे आहे, असे तज्ज्ञ डॉक्टर सांगत आहेत. लसीकरणामुळे मातेच्या शरीरात तयार होणार्‍या अँटिबॉडीज स्तनपानाद्वारे नवजात बाळाला मिळतात. यामुळे बाळाला कोरोना संसर्गाचा धोका कमी संभवतो.

स्तनदा मातांनी घ्या ‘कोव्हिड-19’ची लस , ‘कोव्हिड-19’ व्हायरस संक्रमणाची चेन ब्रेक करण्यासाठी जानेवारी 2021 पासून लसीकरण अभियान सुरू करण्यात आले. या अभियानांतर्गत 18 वर्षांवरील सर्वांना लस दिली जात आहे. परंतु, गर्भवती आणि स्तनदा मातांना या लसीकरण अभियानातून वगळण्यात आले होते. मात्र, कोरोनाच्या तिसर्‍या लाटेत गर्भवतींना संक्रमणाचा अधिक धोका असल्याचे म्हटले होते.

यासंदर्भात ‘द इंडियन कौन्सिल ऑफ मेडिकल रिसर्च’, आणि ‘द फेडरेशन ऑफ ऑब्स्टेट्रिक अँड गायनेकोलॉजिकल सोसायटीज ऑफ इंडिया’ या संस्थांनी विविध अभ्यास आणि संशोधनानंतर गर्भवती व स्तनदा मातांना लसीकरणात समाविष्ट करून घ्या असे म्हटले. त्याद्वारे केंद्र सरकारने गर्भवती व स्तनदा मातांनाही लसीकरण करून घेण्याची परवानगी दिली आहे.

लस घेणं का आवश्यक?

कोरोनाची लागण होण्यापासून स्वतःचा बचाव करण्यासाठी लसीकरण हा एकमेव पर्याय आहे. भारतात सध्या कोव्हिशिल्ड, कोव्हॅक्सिन आणि स्पुतनिक या तीन लसी उपलब्ध आहेत. स्तनपान करणार्‍या मातांसाठी ही लस अतिशय फायदेशीर आहे. म्हणूनच मातांनी लसीकरण अजिबात टाळू नये.

विविध संशोधनाद्वारे असे सिद्ध झाले आहे की, स्तनपान करणारी महिला लसीकरण करते तेव्हा तिच्या शरीरात तयार झालेल्या अँटिबॉडीज आईच्या दुधातून नवजात बाळाला जातात. यामुळे ‘कोव्हिड-19’ विषाणूपासून बाळाचे संरक्षण करण्यात मदत मिळते. यामुळे स्तनपान करणार्‍या महिलांना लस घेण्यासाठी प्रोत्साहन दिले पाहिजे.

लस घेतल्यानंतर ताप येणं, थंडी वाजून येणं, अंगदुखी, डोकेदुखी, इंजेक्शन दिलेल्या हातावरील भागात सूज येणं आणि थकवा जाणवणं, असा त्रास उद्भवू शकतो. परंतु, स्तनपान करणार्‍या महिलांनी घाबरून जाऊ नये. लसीकरणानंतर ही लक्षणे दिसून येणे स्वाभाविक आहे. ‘कोव्हिड-19’ लस माता आणि बाळाच्या आरोग्यासाठी अतिशय फायदेशीर आहे. म्हणून लसीकरणाला घाबरून त्याकडे दुर्लक्ष करू नये.

New Delhi: Congress Says Twitter Account Locked ,The official Twitter handles of the Congress and around 5,000 of its leaders and workers have been locked, the party said Thursday, amid growing controversy over “selective” action against Rahul Gandhi and others for posting photographs that show Mr. Gandhi interacting with the family of the nine-year-old Dalit girl who was allegedly raped and killed in Delhi last week.

This morning’s Instagram post contained a screenshot of the Congress’ account and a message from Twitter that said it had been locked because it “violated Twitter rules” regarding publishing or posting other people’s private information without their express authorization and permission”.

“Modiji, just how afraid are you? Reminder: The Congress party fought for our nation’s independence, equipped only with truth, non-violence & the will of the people. We won then, we’ll win again,” the Congress said.

According to the ‘help’ section on Twitter’s website, a ‘locked’ account means the user cannot tweet and “can only send Direct Messages to followers”. The user “will not be able to engage in actions such as tweeting, retweeting, or liking, and only followers can see past tweets.”

Under existing laws – the Juvenile Justice Act and the POCSO Act – it is illegal to disclose the identity of a minor via any form of media or publish any information that may reveal his/her identity.

The locked handles have provoked a furious backlash from Congress, which has accused the government of intimidating Twitter. The party has also referred to similar images tweeted by accounts belonging to BJP Lok Sabha MP Anju Bala and the Scheduled Castes Commission.

“Twitter is clearly acting under government pressure… it did not remove the same pictures shared by the accounts of National Commission for Scheduled Castes for a few days,” AICC social media head Rohan Gupta told news agency PTI.

This morning Pranav Jha, the party’s Secretary in-Charge for Communication tweeted, tagging Prime Minister Modi, IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, and Twitter chief Jack Dorsey.
