Recently a 57-year-old male from Parasiya, Madhya Pradesh was brought to Nagpur based Orange City Hospital & Research Institute in a very critical condition. On admission patient had severe breathlessness with gasping respiration, comatose, hypotension and frothing from mouth. He was immediately resuscitated, intubated and put on ventilator & inotrope support in casualty. He had complaints of breathlessness, cough and unconsciousness since 4-5 hrs. He was admitted under care of Dr. Devayani Buche-OCHRI Senior Physician. He was investigated thoroughly at OCHRI. His investigations revealed huge mass (17x17x10.5 cm) occupying whole thoracic cavity. Biopsy showed it to be Thymoma. Immuno histochemistry confirmed the diagnosis of Thymoma. His diagnosis was Thymoma with Respiratory Failure with urosepsis.
Dr. Devayani Buche informed that, looking at his condition and prognosis relatives were not keen to continue treatment and wanted to take patient home. But she convinced the relatives to continue treatment and at least give a week time to see his progress. She added that Thymoma are the most common primary tumor of the anterior mediastinum in adults. Varieties of other syndromes are seen in patients with Thymoma. This organ is located behind the sternum in front of the great vessels, she further added.
In view of prolonged ventilator support; tracheostomy was also done. He was put on chemotherapy and simultaneously he was managed for his other conditions. Gradually patient responded to treatment. His tracheostomy tube, RT tube and catheter was removed and he maintained oxygen saturation without any support. His repeat CT scan chest showed almost complete resolution of mass. After a month of treatment, he was discharged. At the time of discharge, he was conscious and stable without any respiratory distress. Nagpur: This Valentine elder family member vows to protect the younger one throughout life but an uncle like Mr. Sunil saves his life. Sunil Sagdeo a 56 year old gentleman showed that love is as unconditional as it could be when he donated one of his kidneys to his nephew in absence of any compatible donor in the immediate family.
It is to be mentioned that this was for the second time a family member was donating kidney to Mr. Prasad. Prior to this, he received kidney from his father in March 2008 which gave him quality life for seven years. However, unfortunately, he had developed a permanent graft dysfunction with kidney failure after seven years when his uncle came forward to save his life. The whole family was determined to save him and his survival with fully functional life against all odds today is an exemplary of that.
The organization has also been fortunate enough to witness one of the most rare and esteem act of humanity when an inter religion swap kidney transplant was performed five years back with both the donors leading a completely normal life. New Delhi:Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a fierce attack on the Congress and the Gandhis in parliament today, said “talent is the first casualty of dynastic politics” and listed how the country would have been different “if Congress had not there”.
“The Congress’s problem is it has never thought beyond its dynasty. The biggest threats to democracy are dynastic parties. And when a family becomes paramount then the first casualty is talent,” PM Modi said in Rajya Sabha, replying to a debate on government policies.
“People wonder what if there had been no Congress. They are stuck in India is Indira, Indira is India,” the PM said, referring to a Congress phrase for one of its iconic leaders, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
He said Mahatma Gandhi wanted the Congress to be scrapped. “This was Mahatma Gandhi’s wish – he knew what would happen if they remained and said destroy this. If Gandhi’s wishes had been followed, India would have been free from nepotism,” he remarked.
“If, going by Gandhi’s wish, there had been no Congress, democracy would have been free of nepotism. India would have taken the swadeshi path. There would be no stain of Emergency. Corruption would not have been institutionalised for decades. There would have been no casteism or regionalism. Sikhs would not have been massacred. There would not have been an exodus from Kashmir. New Delhi: Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, accompanied by daughter Ira, led the Bollywood tributes at Lata Mangeshkar’s funeral on Sunday in Mumbai. The legendary singer, 92, died in Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital, where she was being treated for COVID-19 and pneumonia. She was given a funeral with state honours on Sunday evening. Lata Mangeshkar’s last rites were attended by several dignitaries including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The film fraternity turned out to pay their respects, among them actor Shah Rukh Khan.
Aamir Khan, along with daughter Ira, paid tribute to Lata Mangeshkar.
Ranbir Kapoor, pictured here laying a wreath, was also at Lata Mangeshkar’s funeral.
Vidya Balan was present to pay her last respects as well.
Lata Mangeshkar’s sister and singer Asha Bhosle also paid tribute to the late singer.
Shraddha Kapoor, who is related to Lata Mangeshkar, was at the funeral and also visited the hospital on Saturday evening.
Earlier on Sunday, Amitabh Bachchan, daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda, Shraddha Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Madhur Bhandarkar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali were pictured at Lata Mangeshkar’s house.
Lata Mangeshkar, known as the ‘Nightingale of India,’ had sung in Hindi, Marathi, Bengali and other regional languages. She was honoured with the Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Dadasaheb Phalke Award as well as several National and Filmfare Awards. Lata Mangeshkar’s last complete album was for 2004 Bollywood release Veer-Zaara.

Sydney: Beijing Winter Olympics reveal a very different face of China as during the Summer Olympics in 2008, authorities had not imposed severe restrictions on locals and did not warn visiting athletes over speaking against Beijing. However, this time a lot has changed and Chinese officials have warned athletes not to speak against the country’s law and also made house arrests of local activists whom the communist regime believes might stage protests during the Winter Olympics that might taint the reputation of China, according to a media report.
In 2008, during Summer Olympics in Beijing, the Chinese government announced that it had designated three parks in the capital for anyone wanting to protest during the Games. It seems quaint to recall this gesture these days, as empty as it was. In the end, no protest permits were issued by the local police. The demonstrators who did take the risk during the Games were rounded up and taken away, reported Nikkei Asia
But the moment is worth remembering if only to contrast it with the lead-up to the Beijing Winter Olympics, scheduled to open tomorrow, as organizers warned athletes that their accreditations could be cancelled if they spoke out of turn, said the publication further.

New Delhi: Asaduddin Owaisi, MP and chief of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), was provided Z category security cover today, a day after shots were fired at his car while he was returning to Delhi after campaigning in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut.
The government decided to provide him with Z category security by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) after reviewing the threat level in the light of last night’s attack.
Two people been arrested for firing at his convoy at Meerut’s Kithoudh area, police said.
One of the accused is Sachin, a resident of Noida who has an earlier attempt to murder case against him. While he has claimed that he holds a law degree, police are verifying it. In his Facebook profile, Sachin says he is a member of a Hindu right-wing organisation, police said, adding that they are investigating the claim.
The other accused is Shubham, a farmer from Saharanpur who does not have a criminal record.
According to police, the two have told them during questioning that they were upset with remarks made by Mr Owaisi and his brother and MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi.

She responded to treatment and her Cancer decreased from 15 can to 2 cm over 4 months. She continues to take this treatment and is living a normal life without any complaints.
Stage 4 Larynx: A 42 year old man resident of Mumbai was diagnosed stage 4 larynx cancerin January 2021. Because of aggressive nature and poor general condition of patient, he was advised palliative care only in a Mumbai hospital. Theycame to Wockhardt hospitals and was started on targeted therapy and very low dose chemotherapy. Patient had very good response and continues to live a near normal life with targeted therapy.
All these cases reflect that Stage 4 cancer is not a death sentence and a normal life can be achieved with personalised cancer treatment just like any other chronic illness.

Nagpur: Dr.Amit Bhatti perform Intervention Neurology procedure on stroke patient Kalpana (name changed) came with a history of severe headache with vomiting for a few days and since few hours she had been drowsy and barely arousable. Alarmed with sudden deterioration, her husband rushed her to Wockhardt hospital, Nagpur, one of the few Stroke-ready hospitals in Nagpur.
She was diagnosed with cerebral venous sinus thrombosis with cerebral infarction by Dr Amit Bhatti who is the consultant intervention neurologist and Stroke specialist. According to him, almost 99% of strokes or brain-attacks are because of the pathology of the arteries which are the blood vessels that carry blood from heart to brain. However, in 1 to 0.5% cases, the problem occurs in the veins also known as cerebral venous sinuses which drain the blood from the brain back to the heart Dr.Amit Bhatti perform Intervention Neurology procedure on stroke patient.
The occlusion of these venous systems is called cerebral venous sinus thrombosis which can cause large venous infarcts as well as brain hemorrhage resulting in headache, coma, paralysis, uncontrolled seizures and even death. The traditional treatment options include use of anticoagulants which are drugs that reverse or slow the clotting process of blood. These are usually given for a period of a few months until the sinus recanalizes.
As per Dr Bhatti, for patients with mild symptoms this may be enough but for those with severe symptoms and extensive thrombosis like the case mentioned above, waiting for even a few hours can be dangerous because there is impending risk of brain infarction & hemorrhage. Fortunately, our patient underwent a novel procedure wherein the occluded sinus was directly accessed through the vein in her leg and mechanical aspiration of the clot together with in situ thrombolysis was done using advanced endovascular intervention without any surgery or opening of the skull. This led to reopening of the sinus within 24 hours which otherwise used to take weeks to months with systemic anticoagulation.
All this done through a tiny needle puncture in the femoral vein of the leg without any open surgery of the brain. Due the prompt opening of blockage, our patient who had come in a near comatose state was discharged within 3 days of the procedure with complete recovery; which even the patient and relatives consider a miracle in itself. All thanks to the advances in neurointervention.

Mukutban (Maharashtra): The Mukutban integrated cement plant is an important milestone in the annals of Birla Corporation Limited (MP Birla Group), said Shri Harsh V Lodha, Chairman, MP Birla Group, after the lighting up of the kiln at the plant today. Set up at an investment of Rs 2,744 crores it is the largest greenfield investment by the Company in the history of the Group, taking its cement business to 20 million tons annually.
The Mukutban cement plant of RCCPL Private Limited (RCCPL), wholly owned subsidiary of Birla Corporation Limited, is going to be one of the most advanced cement factories in India, in terms of technology and efficiency parameters.
In the light of the pandemic’s impact on world economy and the cement industry in India, the inauguration of the Mukutban plant is commendable, Shri Lodha felt. “It is no mean feat to complete such a large project under such challenging circumstances with major disruptions on account of Covid which led to several logistical challenges, stoppage of work and a flight of labour from the project site on several occasions. Moreover, to achieve 10-million man hours of construction with zero accidents and completion of the entire project without a single major accident or fatality, I am told, is a unique achievement in the cement industry. The Mukutban cement plant will not only have a major impact on the cement business of the MP Birla Group but will make a meaningful contribution to the improvements of the lives and livelihoods of the people associated with it as well as the communities in the neighbourhood, in keeping with the Group’s credo of Heart and Strength”.
This will be the fourth integrated cement plant of the Group and the biggest single line/kiln cement plant in Maharashtra, by capacity. It will be powered by 2 x 20 MW Thermal Captive Power Plant, which is based on Air-Cooled Condenser (ACC) technology to minimize water consumption by 90%. The cement plant has been built exclusively by MP Birla Cement Perfect Plus brand which shows the faith the management has on the strength of its products and the brand. It would be one of the few cement plants built entirely by Portland Pozzolana Cement which has 30%-35% component of fly ash which is, otherwise, a waste product of thermal power plants.
Further investment will be made by the Company to generate renewable energy from multiple sources. Currently, renewable energy accounts for about 22% of Birla Corporation’s total power consumption. In the 103rd year of operation, driven by the motto of “Heart & Strength”, the Mukutban plant is founded on the twin planks of superlative technology & sustainability. Blended cement makes up more than 90% of the Company’s total cement production, the highest in India. The consumption of slag and fly ash will be scaled up also in the Mukutban plant, benefitting the industrial units at Chandrapur. The rapid pace of infrastructure development in Maharashtra would provide a suitable and conducive environment for Birla Corporation to enter this lucrative and important market and increasing its footprint in Western India.

पुणे: आपल्या अभिनयाने आणि सुरेल गायनाने संगीत रंगभूमीला समृद्ध करणाऱ्या ज्येष्ठ अभिनेत्री आणि गायिका कीर्ती शिलेदार(kirti shiledar) यांचे आज (शनिवार) निधन झाले. त्यांनी आपल्या अभिनयाने आणि गायनाने संगीत नाटकांना वेगळ्या उंचीवर नेले.
आपल्या आई जयमाला आणि वडील जयराम शिलेदार यांच्या मार्गदर्शनाखाली शास्त्रीय संगीताची आराधना केलेल्या कीर्ती शिलेदार यांनी वयाच्या दहाव्या वर्षी रंगभूमीवर पहिले पाऊल टाकले. कीर्ती शिलेदार यांची भूमिका असलेल्या नाटकांचे अनेक प्रयोग झाले. देशातल्या मराठी रसिकांसाठीही त्यांनी देशाच्या विविध शहरांत मराठी संगीत नाटकांचे प्रयोग केले.

मराठी संगीत रंगभूमीच्या त्या सर्वार्थाने बिनीच्या शिलेदार ठरल्या. एकच प्याला, कान्होपात्रा, द्रौपदी, मानापमान, ययाति आणि देवयानी, शाकुंतल, संशयकल्लोळ, सौभद्र अशा संगीत नाटकांत त्यांनी काम केले. त्यांना विविध पुरस्काराने गौरविण्यात आले.
Two people have died after a major fire broke out inside a 20-storeyed residential building in Mumbai this morning.
At least 17 people were also injured, three of them critically, in the massive blaze that started around 7 am on the 18th floor of Kamla building opposite Gandhi Hospital at Gowalia Tank in Mumbai’s Tardeo area.
Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar told news agency ANI that six elderly people needed oxygen support and were been shifted to the hospital. The fire “is under control but smoke is huge. All people have been rescued,” she added.
On being alerted, the fire brigade personnel and police had rushed to the spot.
A civic body official said 13 fire engines and seven water jetties, among others, are involved in the firefighting operation, adding that it was tagged as a level-3 (major) fire.
Officials said 15 of the injured were taken to the nearby Bhatia Hospital after which 12 of them were admitted to the general ward as their condition was stable while three were admitted to the ICU due to their critical condition.
Four others were rushed to the Nair Hospital out of which two of them were declared brought dead, a doctor said.
It’s an unfortunate incident, Maharashtra BJP president and MLA Mangal Prabhat Lodha said.

अडीच महिन्यांपेक्षा अधिक कालावधीपासून विलीनीकरणाच्या मागणीसाठी कर्मचार्यांनी पुकारलेल्या संपावर अजूनही तोडगा निघालेला नाही. महामंडळाने वेतनवाढ देऊनही कर्मचारी कामावर येण्यास तयार नाहीत. त्यामुळे महामंडळाने निलंबन,सेवा समाप्ती आणि बडतर्फीची कारवाई सुरू केली.त्यानंतर महामंडळाने ग्रामीण भागातील नागरिकांची गैरसोय टाळण्यासाठी 800 कंत्राटी चालकांची भरती केली.त्यानंतर आता महामंडळाने इतर विभागातील कर्मचार्यांना चालक आणि वाहक म्हणून नियुक्ती देण्याचा निर्णय घेतला आहे.
पहिल्या टप्प्यात चालक पदातून ज्यांना वाहन परीक्षक आणि सहाय्यक वाहतूक निरीक्षक या पदावर पदोन्नती दिली आहे, अशा कर्मचार्यांना दोन दिवसांचे उजळणी प्रशिक्षण देऊन त्यांना चालक म्हणून कामगिरी देण्यात येणार आहे. दुसर्या टप्प्यात ज्या यांत्रिकी कर्मचार्यांकडे अवजड वाहन चालविण्याचा परवाना आहे, अशा कर्मचार्यांची विभागीय पातळीवर माहिती गोळा करून त्यांच्याकडून विभागीय पातळीवर प्रादेशिक परिवहन कार्यालयाकडे तत्काळ आनलाईन अर्ज करून प्रवासी वाहन चालक अनुज्ञप्ती बिल्ला काढावयाचा आहे.
खाते वाहन व मार्ग तपासणी वाहनांवर नेमणूक केलेल्या चालकांना एसटी चालविण्यास देण्यात येणार आहे. वाहतूक नियंत्रण म्हणून ज्या वाहकांना पदोन्नती दिली आहे,त्यांचा वापर वाहक म्हणून करण्यात येणार आहे.

New Delhi: Schools in Maharashtra will reopen for all classes from next week, the state’s Education Minister said today. All the schools will have to ensure that Covid protocols are in place, Varsha Gaikwad, Maharashtra School Education Minister, said as she announced the news.
“From 24 (January) we will be reopening schools for classes 1-12th with COVID protocols; Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has agreed to our proposal, Ms Gaikwad was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
Last week, state Health Minister Rajesh Tope had said that there was a demand for the reopening of schools in the state.
“Demands are rising from certain quarters for reopening of schools as children are suffering the education loss,” he said.
Earlier this month, the Maharashtra government had announced the closure of schools in the state till February 15 as the number of coronavirus cases started spiralling from December amid the emergence of the new Omicron variant.
“After COVID cases rose, the government decided not to continue with the school (offline) sessions. But after discussion with the experts, it has been decided to start the sessions where the number of cases is low based on the local COVID-19 situation,” Ms Gaikwad said.
Maharashtra on Wednesday recorded 43,697 new coronavirus positive cases, 10 per cent more than the previous day, including 214 Omicron infections, and also saw 49 fatalities, the health department said.
With this, the state’s caseload reached 73,25,825, while the fatality count rose to 1,41,934.
The fresh Omicron cases took the tally of those infected with this strain to 1,860, it said.

या विषयी मिळालेल्या माहितीनुसार, मौजा कुजबा नागपूर येथील ५ महिला कापूस वेचण्याकरिता आम नदीच्या पलीकडील शेतमालक परमानंद तिजारे यांच्या शेतामध्ये त्यांच्याच डोंग्याने जात होत्या. आम नदीच्या पात्रात अचानक डोंगा फुटला. डोंग्यामध्ये पाणी भरले. महिलांनी आरडाओरड सुरू केली. महिलांच्या हालचालीमुळे डोंगा पलटी झाली. त्यामध्ये गीता रामदास निंबारते यांचा बुडून मृत्यू झाला.
