NEET-UG 2022 Must Be Postponed, Says Lawyer

NEET-UG 2022 Must Be Postponed, Says Lawyer
NEET-UG 2022 Must Be Postponed, Says Lawyer

NAGPUR: Well-known activist lawyer Anubha Sahai, who recently took the university exam uniformity issue to the court, has said that NEET-UG 2022 must be postponed looking at the “very logical reasons” pointed out by students.

Sahai told that with previous counselling getting delayed, it made sense to push the NEET-UG scheduled for mid-July further ahead.

“The previous batch’s counselling got delayed, and in some states it is still going on. So, the July 2022 batch counselling and academic schedule will be pushed ahead anyway, as I don’t think there is infrastructure and academic wherewithal to run both batches concurrently,” said Sahai and added, “So if everything is going to get delayed anyway, then why not delay the entrance exam too. This will give students some extra time to prepare.”
Twitter, which has been the primary playground for all previous such demands, again witnessed high number of messages from students demanding postponement. Some said the least authorities could do was acknowledge their request. @DropperNeet wrote: “We Will Respect Your Decision But Please Officially Put Some Notice About NEET ..Mental Pressure Is Killing Us From Inside .. please postpone NEET UG sir”.

Some were worried about other entrance exams during the same period. @rohan22t wrote: “(1) Droppers are getting less than 3MONTHS (2)-Different syllabus exam like CUET NEET JEE MAIN with NO GAP (3) Army nursing aspirants are getting just two months for a complete different exam pattern”. @AIJNSA_official wrote “This year NEET- (UG) – 2022 is scheduled on 17th JULY and the counselling was completed in April last week. While in some states the counselling & seat allotment process was continued even after the release of the notification for NEET (UG)-2022”.
@Uzziepixie wrote: “Not only this affects the mental health of the aspirants but also their parents who had hopes to see they child become a DOCTOR. Does mental health of us matter to you? It’s as request to @DG_NTA”.
The increase in online decible level of students, as they become more vocal in their demands is a good sign, said Sahai. “The demands to either cancel or delay exams at such a scale is something which we are witnessing now only. It never existed before. Many times students approach us for such cases and we take it forward and then there are times when we counsel them, if it does not seem a valid demand,” said Sahai.
She added that interacting with students associations is a great learning experience for her team too. “When they explain things to us with logical reasons to back up their demand, we too realize that they are correct. So it’s a good thing that students are now taking up these issues,” said Sahai.
These demands by students can really gain weight only after it attracts political traction. “I foresee that very soon education and health will become electoral issues. This movement by students is the beginning and as more people become aware of the situation, public representatives will be held accountable for their manifestos regarding education,” said Sahai.

'आपला मास्क विचारपूर्वक निवडा'; कापडाचा मास्क व्हायरसपासून संरक्षण देत नाही!

The COVID-19 case in Maharashtra once again is seeing an upward trend and government are once again on their toes to control the wide spread and avoid the fourth COVID-19 wave.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday had appealed to the people to use a face mask when outdoors and follow Covid Proper Behaviour after reports of rise in COVID-19 cases were seen in the state.

Maharashtra has stepped up effort to detect and control rising cases in the state with the state government advising citizens to wear masks in public places.

However, no decision on mandating mask has been made said Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope.

He also said we however want people to wear masks on their own as a precaution due to a rise in covid cases.

“We have just implored people to wear masks in closed spaces like schools, offices, buses, trains, for people to wear masks. This was just an advisory,” Tope added.

The Maharashtra health department on Friday asked district and civic authorities to ramp up coronavirus testing as the numbers of samples being examined had fallen while cases were rising.

In a letter to collectors, municipal corporations and chief executive officers, Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Pradeep Vyas said all districts should ensure the proportion of RT-PCR tests was at least 60 per cent.

In view of rising cases, it said people should be advised to wear masks in closed public spaces like trains, buses, cinemas, auditoriums, offices, hospitals, colleges and schools.

Indian civil services exams can be termed as one of the most difficult exam to crack with various stages of exams it does elect the best of the best.

Recently UPSC civil services final results were out and 685 students cracked the exams. Among these was a daughter of two Delhi police personnel, Delhi’s Ishita Rathi, who secured Rank 8 in this year’s UPSC mains.

With hard work, Rathi claimed that she dreamt of serving the country by looking at her parents. The 26-year-old cleared UPSC in her third attempt said she wants to work for women empowerment in the country as only if the women are developed in a country, the country’s growth continues.

Ishita was shocked to find her name in the top 10 list. “This exam is very uncertain. Every attempt is very different from the last attempt. So until the results are out one does not know what strategy worked and what did not work. For me, the journey has been tough, like many other aspirants. I was not expecting such a good rank and I was not even sure if I will make it to the finals but I did and that has been shocking,” she said.

Ishita completed her postgraduate degree in economics from Madras School of Economics, said she did not opt for any coaching to crack the exam. Talking about her preparation she said, “While I did not take any coaching, but for my optional subject (Economic) I took mentoring.” Giving insights from her self preparing journey she says, “After looking at the syllabus I realized that these topics can be covered on my own. There is plenty of free material available now that students can take help from and prepare for the exam on their own.”

“For certain subjects such as geography and polity, NCERTs are very well written so referring to those will clear out basics for the candidates. Supplementing them with reading newspapers and current affairs is helpful. I also took help from popular UPSC preparation books, including Laxmikant for polity, and Spectrum for history. I mostly referred to all the resources that are referred by most toppers and it did help me. But the key in all his was multiple revisions, making your notes and revising them repeatedly,” Ishita said.

‘Why look for a ‘shivling’ in every masjid’: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat

Nagpur: Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday called for a “path through mutual agreement” amid the ongoing controversy over the videography survey of the Gyanvapi mosque in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi.

Addressing an event in Nagpur, the RSS chief said, “We had special devotion towards some places and we spoke about them but we shouldn’t bring out a new matter daily. Why should we escalate the dispute? We have devotion towards Gyanvapi and doing something as per that, it’s alright. But why look for a Shivling in every masjid.”

Bhagwat continued by saying, “A path does not always come out. People approach court, and if it is done then whatever the court decides should be accepted. We should abide by the decisions, considering our judicial system is pious and the supreme. We should not question its decisions.”

Bhagwat further said that Hindus never had any “opposition against any form of worship,” saying, “we accept them all and consider all of them holy. They may have adopted that form of worship but they are descendants of our rishis, munis, Kshatriyas. We are descendants of the same ancestors.”

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat told the gathering in Nagpur that “Hindus don’t think against Muslims. Ancestors of today’s Muslims were Hindus too. It was done to keep them forever devoid of independence and suppress morale. So Hindus feel they (religious places) should be restored.”

Referring to the Gyanvapi matter, Bhagwat said “it is ongoing.” “Can’t change history. Neither today’s Hindus nor today’s Muslims created it. It happened at that time. Islam came from outside via attackers. In the attacks, Devsthans (religious places) were demolished to exhaust the morale of those who wanted India’s independence.”

The RSS chief also praised India’s balanced approach while dealing with the Russia-Ukraine war.

“India is speaking the truth but has to take a balanced approach. Fortunately, it has taken that balanced approach. It neither supported the attack nor opposed Russia. It didn’t help Ukraine in war but is providing them with all other aid. It’s continuously asking Russia to hold talks,” the RSS chief said.

ED summons Sonia, Rahul for questioning

As the Enforcement Directorate (ED) summoned Congress president Sonia Gandhi and former party chief Rahul Gandhi for questioning in a money laundering case involving the National Herald newspaper, the Congress on Wednesday alleged that the summons reeked of “vendetta, pettiness and cheap politics”.

While Ms. Gandhi, 75, has been asked to appear before the agency on June 8, the former Congress chief has been asked to depose on Thursday. Mr. Gandhi, 51, is likely to seek time from the agency as he is out of the country and is likely to return only by June 5.

The ED summons is said to have been served on the Gandhis a few days earlier, but the Congress went public about it only on Wednesday.

“The honourable Congress president will definitely go and Rahulji will go if he is here, or else, will seek time for a fresh date,” Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi, along with chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala, said at a press conference.

“This is truly a very weird case, an alleged money laundering case on which summons are issued with no money involved,” Mr. Singhvi added

Hitting back at the Congress, BJP president J.P. Nadda told presspersons in Bhopal, “Does a criminal ever say that he is dishonest. Even when they spend 10-20 years in jail, they keep saying they have been framed.”

“If a chargesheet has been filed against you, you should approach the court to get it quashed if you are honest. One who isn’t honest seeks bail,” Mr. Nadda noted.

The case to investigate alleged financial irregularities of Congress-promoted Young Indian, which owns National Herald, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act was registered about nine months ago, an official said.

The ED’s decision was based on a trial court taking cognisance of an Income Tax Department probe against Young Indian Private Ltd. on the basis of a private criminal complaint filed by BJP MP Subramanian Swamy in 2013. The agency now wants to record the statements of the Gandhis under criminal Sections of the PMLA.

ED sources claimed that the questioning of the Gandhis and senior Congress leaders was part of their investigation to understand the share-holding pattern, financial transactions and the role of the promoters of Young Indian and AJL. Ms. Gandhi and her son are among the promoters and shareholders of Young Indian. Last month, the ED had recorded the statement of the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha and veteran Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge, who is an office bearer of AJL.

The agency also questioned Congress treasurer Pawan Kumar Bansal, who is the managing director of AJL and an additional director in Young Indian.

Earlier, Mr. Swamy had approached the court alleging that AJL assets were fraudulently acquired and transferred to Young Indian.

According to court records, the Congress had loaned about ₹90 crore on interest-free basis to AJL over a period of time.

The party later assigned the debt to Young Indian, in which Ms. Gandhi and her son owned 38% shares each. Young Indian paid ₹50 lakh to the Congress for transferring the ₹90-crore debt to it.

The other accused in this case are author Suman Dubey and technocrat Sam Pitroda.

Countering the charges levelled against the Gandhis, Dr. Singhvi said Young India was registered as a not-for-profit company, under Section 25 of the Companies Act, that can neither pay divided to its shareholders nor accumulate profits. And that is why “objective minds” in the ED had closed the case in 2015.

Mango prices drop with increased supply in Nagpur markets

Mango prices drop with increased supply in Nagpur markets

Nagpur: The mango prices have witnessed a drop from its recent high in Nagpur markets. One of the most sought after mango varieties — the Baiganpalli — is now available at Rs 80 per kg in retail, as compared to the price of Rs 100 per kg about 15 days back.

At the beginning of the month of May, the Baiganpalli mango variety was being sold for Rs 140 per kg to Rs 150 per kg. The fall in mango prices can be attributed to the bulk supplies in the wholesale market, according to a trader. Bulk supplies of the famous Baiganpalli mango variety is coming from Kurnool, Warangal and other districts of Andhra Pradesh. This has resulted in a steep fall in prices.

On an average 60 to 70 trucks (trucks with 6 tonne capacity) are unloading the juicy fruit on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at the Kalamna market, he said. In the wholesale market, the Baiganpalli mango variety is being quoted at Rs 40 per kg to Rs 50 per kg. Earlier in the month of May, Baiganpalli was quoted at Rs 50 per kg to Rs 65 per kg and in April it was quoted at Rs 85 per kg to Rs 120 per kg.

The situation is the same with other mango varieties. Other varieties of mango like Langda local are being quoted at Rs 40 per kg to Rs 50 per kg in the wholesale market. In retail it is available at Rs Rs 60 per kg to Rs 80 per kg. The Gawrani Dassehri variety (local) is being quoted at Rs 40 per kg to Rs 50 per kg. The famous Lucknowi Dussehri will be arriving within a few days and will be available in the various city markets.

Apart from this, the prices of the most exported mango variety Alphanso has also fallen to Rs 450 per dozen to Rs 500 per dozen, as compared a fortnight ago at Rs 500 per dozen to Rs 700 per dozen. About a month ago, Alphanso was quoted at Rs 800 per dozen to Rs 1,000 per dozen, the trader added.

Maha Metro may open Krazy Castle Park on August 15

Maha Metro may open Krazy Castle Park on August 15

Nagpur: There is good news for Nagpur children as Maha Metro plans to open Krazy Castle Amusement Park near Ambazari Lake on this Independence Day on August 15. Work is going on war footing to start the park after four years. It has been closed since mid.2018, according to reports.

According to Maha Metro, the park had seven rides as of now. Six more rides are being installed taking the total to 13 rides. The company will, however, not start the adjoining water park immediately. The opening of the water park will depend on the response to the 13 rides. Krazy Castle is the only park located inside Nagpur city. The other parks are outside city limits.

According to reports, Krazy Castle will now be easier to reach. It is connected by Dharampeth College Metro Station. People living in other parts of the city can reach the park comfortably and cheaply. The park was closed down in mid-2018 as Maha Metro acquired the land for construction of its viaduct. The operator, Haldiram Foods, was paid Rs 19 crore as compensation. It took the Divisional Commissioner to decide the compensation amount, which delayed the reopening of the amusement park.

Flour mill project stuck: Patanjali receives jolt from Power Department

Flour mill project stuck: Patanjali receives jolt from Power Department

Nagpur: In the MIHAN project, the work of the flour mill in Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Mega Food Park has reached its final stage. The unit is set to launch again in July. However, to start the juice plant, a demand of 15 MW power has been made from the concerned electricity department.

However, the project is yet to receive the required substation for power supply. The proposal of the project is entangled in red tape. So starting a juice plant is not possible. It is a matter of great surprise that industries are not getting electricity in the district of the State Energy Minister.

Remember that Baba Ramdev had announced that Asia’s largest food park would be set up in the MIHAN project. A controversy had erupted on the issue of giving land to this project. After this, keeping in mind the lockdown due to Corona and the constraints of the workers, Patanjali management has now made preparations to start the flour mill in the first phase.

The required 11 kV power requirement was shown for this. The Patanjali management was directed by the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) to start the project in March. During this, an extension was sought by raising the issue of electrical substation. Earlier, the project was to start by December 31, 2021. However, due to Patanjali’s failure to adhere to the term, this period was extended twice in a row. Even after that this project has not started yet. The Patanjali administration has now decided to start the flour mill project in July.

As per the demand of Mega Food Park at MIHAN, MSEDCL has provided 11 kV connection. Patanjali’s management needs a substation to supply electricity. It has also applied for this, although till now no positive response has been received from the department side. Sources also say that a separate substation will have to wait for two years.

On the other hand, the officials of the Electricity Department said that the tender process is going on for  project in MIHAN. It is being said that in the initial phase of the Patanjali project, if electricity is not available according to the demand, then the next project may face hindrance.

With all the quintessential requisites of an entertaining show that combines politics, crime, and drama, Ek Badnaam… Aashram 3 revolves around the meteoric rise of godmen in India and how the masses blindly follow them in the name of religion. This fascination for godmen in India is prevalent for decades now. Backed by the elite and the political class, these self-proclaimed gurus fear no one. Despite convictions for violent crimes like murder and rape, people continue to believe in the supremacy of“fake gurus”. Ek Badnaam… Aashram 3 brings to light the hard-hitting narrative through a fictional story of megalomaniac Baba Nirala who continues to exploit women, indulge in the drug trade, and control the politics of the town.
