Nagpur sees 17 new Corona cases

Nagpur: The Vidarbha region recorded a spike of 17 new Covid cases, including 9 from Nagpur alone, on Wednesday. This is for the first time after March 16 when 20 cases were detected across Vidarbha in a single day.

The Nagpur patients had travel history from metro cities, officials said. Five cases were from rural areas while four were from Nagpur city. Nagpur cases were detected from over 369 tests on Wednesday.

Four cases from Chandrapur and one each from Bhandara, Wardha, Gadchiroli and Washim were also registered on the day. The spike came on a day when the state witnessed more than 700 cases, a chunk of them from Pune and Mumbai.

The active case tally increased to 62 despite nine recoveries.

Now, active cases as on June 1 are Nagpur 32, Bhandara 2, Wardha 3, Chandrapur 12, Gadchiroli 2, Akola 3, Amravati 2, Yavatmal 1, and Washim 6. Rest of the two districts — Buldhana and Gondia — remained Covid-free.
