मनपाच्या जागेतील अवैध दारू विक्रीसंबंधी तीन सदस्यीय चौकशी समिती गठीत करा- धर्मपाल मेश्राम

नागपूर : नागपूर महानगरपालिकेच्या जागेचा गैरवापर करून त्या जागेमध्ये अवैधरित्या सुरू असलेल्या दारू व्यवसायासंबंधी त्वरीत तीन सदस्यीय चौकशी समिती गठीत करण्यात यावी व समितीने पुढील १५ दिवसात आपला अहवाल सादर करावा, असे निर्देश विधी विशेष समिती सभापती ॲड. धर्मपाल मेश्राम यांनी दिले.

सोमवारी (ता.१७) मनपा मुख्यालयातील डॉ. पंजाबराव देशमुख स्मृती स्थायी समिती सभागृहामध्ये विविध विषयावर विधी समितीची बैठक आयोजित करण्यात आली. बैठकीमध्ये समितीच्या उपसभापती संगीता गि-हे, सदस्य भुट्टो जुल्फेकार अहमद, शेख मोहम्मद जमाल मोहम्मद इब्राहीम, सदस्या समिता चकोले, सहायक आयुक्त (सामान्य प्रशासन विभाग) महेश धामेचा, विधी अधिकारी व्‍यंकटेश कपले, सहायक आयुक्त प्रकाश वराडे, महेश मोरोणे, हरीश राउत, गणेश राठोड, स्मिता काळे, सुवर्णा दखणे, सहायक विधी अधिकारी प्रकाश बरडे, सुरज पारोचे, आनंद शेंडे आदी उपस्थित होते. नागपूर महानगरपालिकांच्या जागा तसेच मनपातर्फे निर्मित गाळे भाड्याने घेउन या जागांचा दुरूपयोग करण्यात येत आहे.

शहरातील अनेक भागांमध्ये मनपाच्या जागेमध्ये अवैधरित्या दारूचा व्‍यवसाय सुरू असल्याच्या तक्रारी असून याबाबत नगरसेवक शेख मोहम्मद जमाल मोहम्मद इब्राहीम, सहायक आयुक्त (बाजार) विजय हुमने व विधी अधिकारी व्‍यंकटेश कपले यांची तीन सदस्यीय चौकशी समिती गठीत करून या समितीचा अहवाल १५ दिवसांत सादर करण्याचे निर्देश विधी समिती सभापती ॲड. धर्मपाल मेश्राम यांनी दिले. मागील वर्षभरात अनधिकृत बांधकामाबाबत नोटीस व काढण्यात आलेल्या अनधिकृत बांधकामाची येत्या १५ दिवसात माहिती सादर करण्याचे सभापती ॲड. धर्मपाल मेश्राम यांनी सर्व झोनच्या सहायक आयुक्तांना निर्देशित केले.

मागील पाच वर्षात नियुक्ती करण्यात आलेल्या ऐवजदारांची झोननिहाय केंद्रीय सेवाज्येष्ठता यादी सादर करा. याशिवा ऐवजदारांची नियुक्ती प्रक्रिया व नियमतीकरण करण्याची प्रक्रिया याबद्दल तपशीलवार माहिती सादर करण्यात यावे. वारंवार निर्देश देउनही माहिती सादर न करणा-या झोन क्रमांक दोन, झोन क्रमांक ३ व झोन क्रमांक ५ च्या झोन अधिका-यांना कारणे दाखवा नोटीस बजावण्याचेही सभापती धर्मपाल मेश्राम यांनी निर्देशित केले. माहिती अधिकार कायद्यांतर्गत विविध विभागांकडून माहिती मागविणा-यांना सोयीचे होण्यासाठी एक खिडकी योजना राबविण्यात यावी. एक खिडकी योजना लागू करण्याच्या दृष्टीने येत्या १५ दिवसांमध्ये अहवाल सादर करा, असेही निर्देश विधी समिती सभापती धर्मपाल मेश्राम यांनी दिले.

Nagpur : Conductors’ strike hits city bus service

Nagpur : City bus service in the city was partially affected on Tuesday following an indefinite strike called by bus conductors associated with Security and Intelligence Services (SIS) agency to press for their monthly wages.

The agency officials blamed Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) for the salary default as civic body has not cleared their payment.

“The strike resulted into Aapli Bus service being affected on Pardi, Hingna and Defence routes,” said chairman of NMC transport committee Bunty Kukde.

The service ran normally on other routes where Unity Infrastructure’s conductors were on duty. “All 230-odd conductors went on strike affecting operations of 69 buses on various routes. Students and office-goers were among the worst hit,” said Kukde.

“We have served a show-cause notice to the firm and we will recover operational loss from them,” he said. SIS conductors, requesting anonymity, told they were being paid their salaries very late every month and the agency also recovered penalties imposed by the NMC from their salary.

The drivers were getting their salaries promptly by ninth of every month, they pointed out. The agency had also collected security deposits from conductors estimated at around Rs 57 lakh. While it can collect Rs 6000 each the agency had taken between Rs 10,000 and Rs12,000 and also not provided any receipt, said sources.

Even though default charges have been levied on SIS and warnings issued to overcome the shortcomings the former has not taken any remedial steps.The firm has also failed to deposit statutory payments like provident fund, ESI etc for conductors, sources said. SIS had also not paid any bonus to the conductors.

Kukde said termination notice had been served on the agency. “We are trying to hand over entire job to Unity Infrastructure,” he said.

नागपुर : नागपुर प्रकृति, वन्यजीव और वन के प्रति संवेदनशीलता बढ़ाने पेंच टाइगर फाउंडेशन की ओर से आयोजित निर्सगानुभव शिविर में अब तक कुल 600 बच्चों ने प्रकृति संरक्षण का महत्व सीखा। कार्यक्रम के लिए पेंच के बफर जोन में स्थित गांवों के 12 से 18 वर्ष के आयुवर्ग के बच्चों का चयन किया गया था। इस उम्र में बच्चों के मन मस्तिष्क को वन व वन्यजीवों के प्रति लगाव और सकारात्मकता की ओर आसानी से जोड़ा जा सकता है। सतपुड़ा फाउंडेशन कार्यक्रम में शिक्षा सहयोगी के रूप में जुड़ा है।

विविध गतिविधियों से सीख शिविर में भाग लेने वाले बच्चों को जंगल सफारी, नेचर गेम्स, मूवी, प्रतियोगिताओं, व्याख्यानों और प्रस्तुतियों की मदद से समझाया जाता है कि स्थानीय वनस्पतियों और जीवों का संरक्षण और वन की रक्षा क्यों जरूरी है। कुल 15 शिविरों का आयोजन अब तक कुल 15 शिविरों का आयोजन हो चुका है और हर शिविर में चालीस बच्चों ने भाग लिया। प्रकृति में रुझान दिखाने वाले छात्रों का चयन दूसरे चरण के लिए किया गया है।

नागपुर : नागपुर श्री बीकानेरी माहेश्वरी पंचायत द्वारा 21 से 26 दिसंबर तक दक्षिण मध्य क्षेत्र सांस्कृतिक केन्द्र में राजस्थान महोत्सव का आयोजन किया जाएगा। उक्त जानकारी गिरीश गांधी ने पत्रकार वार्ता में दी, जिसमें उन्हाेंने कहा कि महोत्सव में पश्चिम क्षेत्र सांस्कृतिक केन्द्र के 105 कलाकार उदयपुर से आ रहे हैं, जो नृत्य, गायन और वादन की प्रस्तुति देंगे।

संतोष आंबेकर याची हत्येच्या आरोपतून निर्दोष मुक्तता

नागपूर : कुख्यात संतोष आंबेकर याची रवींद्र उर्फ बाल्या गावंडे याच्या हत्येच्या आरोपातून अतिरक्त सत्र न्यायाधीश ए.एस. काझी यांनी निर्दोष मुक्तता केली. सरकारी पक्षाला आंबेकर याच्याविरूद्ध सबळ पुरावे सादर करण्यात अपयश आल्याने त्याची मुक्तता करण्यात आली आहे. बाल्या गावंडे हा देखील गुन्हेगारी प्रवृत्तीचा होता.

गावंडे याची त्याचा जवळचा साथीदार योगेश सावजी व इतर दोघांनी २२ जानेवारी २०१७ रोजी निघृण हत्या केली. बाल्या गावंडे याची संतोष आंबेकर, जय काळे आणि व्यावसायीक भागीदार महेश रसालकर यांनी कट कारस्थान रचून हत्या केल्याचा आरोप करण्यात आला. कारण गावंडे याने जय काळे याला सुमारे २० लाखाची खंडणी मागितल्याचा दावा करण्यात आला. काळे याच्याकडे तसे पत्र आढळून आले होते. तेव्हा जय काळे याने बाल्या गावंडे याच्याकडून जीवाला धोका असल्याने संतोष आंबेकर याच्या मदतीने गावंडे याची हत्या केली, असा आरोप करण्यात आला.

जय काळे याच्या मागणीवरून संतोष आंबेकर याने योगेश सावजी व त्याच्या साथीदारांना बाल्या गावंडेच्या हत्येची सुपारी दिली. त्यानुसार योगेश सावजी याने पार्टीच्या निमित्ताने बाल्या गावंडे याला घरी बोलावले. त्या पार्टीतच बाल्याची हत्या करण्यात आली. याप्रकरणी बाल्या गावंडे याच्या पत्नीने दिलेल्या तक्रारीवरून कळमना पोलिसांनी योगेश सावजी व इतरांच्या विरोधात हत्या, कट रचणे, हत्येचा कट घडवून आणणे अशा विविध आरोपांखाली गुन्हे दाखल केले. दरम्यान, गुन्हा दाखल होताच संतोष आंबेकर फरार झाला. परंतु, नंतर त्याने न्यायालयात शरणागती पत्करली. सरकारी पक्षाने संतोष आंबेकर याच्यासह इतर आरोपींच्या विरोधात दोषारोपपत्र दाखल केले. तसेच साक्षीदार व पुरावे देखील दाखल केले.

संतोष आंबेकरच्या वतीने बाजू मांडताना अॅड. आर.के. तिवारी यांनी बाल्या गावंडे याची हत्या संतोषच्या सांगण्यवरून करण्यात आल्याचा कोणताही पुरावा सरकारी पक्षाला सादर करता आलेला नाही, असा दावा केला. केवळ संशयाच्या आधारे संतोष आंबेकरला या हत्याप्रकरणात गुंतवण्यात आले आहे. त्यानेच हत्येचा कट रचला अथवा तो स्वत: त्या पार्टीला हजर होता, त्याचे पुरावे देखील दाखल करण्यात आलेले नाहीत. याशिवाय बाल्या गावंडे याची हत्या करण्यासाठी योगेशला सुपारी देण्यात आल्याचेही पुरावे नाहीत. तसेच हत्येसाठी वापरण्यात आलेल्या कोणत्याही शस्त्राची संतोष आंबेकर याच्याकडून जप्ती करण्यात आलेली नाही. परिस्थितीजन्य पुराव्यांवर आधारित या प्रकरणातील प्रत्येक पुरावा साखळी जोडणे आवश्यक आहे. परंतु, संतोष आंबेकर याच्या इशाऱ्याने हत्या झाल्याचा पुरावा सादर करता आलेला नाही. सदर युक्तिवाद ग्राह्य मानून सत्र न्यायालयाने आंबेकर याची निर्देाष मुक्तता केली.

Khasdar Sankrutik Mahotsav : Kumar Vishwas, other poets make audience laugh

NAGPUR: Despite rains leading to a last minute venue change, the poetry programme titled ‘Ek Shaam Kumar Vishwas Ke Naam’ organized during the ongoing Khasdar Sankrutik Mahotsav was attended by droves of people at Suresh Bhat Hall in Reshimbagh on Monday.

The world-renowned Hindi poet and a leader of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Vishwas dazzled the audience with his poetry on love and heartbreak. Reciting his famous couplets ‘Koi deewana kehta hain’ he had the entire hall singing along with him.

Through his latest poem, he spoke about India’s importance through its culture and traditions. Due to his political background and dry wit, the laureate had the audience in stitches while cracking jokes after jokes on the political scenario of the country, sparing none. The other poets of the evening were equally well -versed in their art.

Sudeep Bhola, who was the opening act of the programme, rendered a verse about woman empowerment, as well as the terror that plagues girls even at the delicate age of two months, and touched the hearts of every member in the hall.

He also spoke about various current issues prevalent in the country through parodies of various Bollywood songs, giving the serious issues a funny touch.

नागपूर-वर्धा थर्ड लाइन लवकरच – डी.के. शर्मा

नागपूर : नागपूर-वर्धा थर्ड लाइनचे काम गेल्या अनेक दिवसांपासून सुरू आहे, हे खरे मात्र येत्या काही महिन्यातच या मार्गापैकी २० किलोमीटरचा मार्ग खुला करण्यात येणार असल्याची माहिती मध्य रेल्वेचे महाव्यवस्थापक डी.के. शर्मा यांनी पत्रपरिषदेत दिली. शर्मा मंगळवारी एक दिवसाच्या नागपूर विभाग दौऱ्यावर आले होते. सायंकाळी डीआरएम कार्यालयात त्यांनी पत्रकारांशी संवाद साधला.

वर्धा-नागपूर रेल्वे मार्गावरील वाहतूक प्रचंड वाढल्यानेच आधी थर्ड आणि नंतर फोर्थ लाइनची घोषणा करण्यात आली होती. त्यातील थर्ड लाइनचे काम जवळपास होत आले आहे. हे काम एकूण ७८ किलोमीटरचे आहे. त्यापैकी २० किलोमीटरचा मार्ग येत्या काही महिन्यात खुला करण्यात येईल. फोर्थ लाइनसाठी भूसंपादनाची प्रक्रिया सुरू आहे. त्यासाठी राज्य सरकारशी बोलणी होत आहे. एकूण पुढील दोन ते अडीच वर्षात थर्ड आणि फोर्थ अशा दोन्ही लाइनचे काम पूर्ण होईल, असा विश्वास शर्मा यांनी व्यक्त केला.

रेल्वेतील रिक्त जागांबाबत शर्मा म्हणाले की, आता नवनवे तंत्रज्ञान आले आहे. त्यामुळे कमीत कमी माणसात अधिकाधिक काम होणार आहे. सगळीच कामे आता माणसांकडून केली जाणार नाही. काळानुसार प्रत्येकालाच बदलावे लागेल. तरीही येत्या सहा महिन्यात भारतीय रेल्वेत १ लाख रिक्त जागा भरण्यात येणार आहेत.

मध्य रेल्वे आणि मेट्रो रेल्वे यांच्यातील कराराविषयी त्यांनी सांगितले की, मेट्रो रेल्वेच्या गाड्या चालविण्यासाठी आमच्यात करार झाला आहे व आम्ही ते स्वीकारले आहे. त्यासाठी कोचेस मेट्रो रेल्वे पुरविणार आहे. एलचबी कोचसाठीचा कारखाना आधी नागपूरजवळ होणार होता, याबात विचारले असता ते म्हणाले की, मुळात या कोचेसची सर्वाधिक गरज मुंबई व पुणे विभागात आहे. त्यामुळे या कोचेसची फॅक्टरी मुंबई आणि पुणे यांच्यामध्ये असणे सोईचे होऊ शकते.

या प्रकल्पासाठी किमान २०० हेक्टर जमीन लागणार आहे. तेवढी जमीन नागपुरात मिळण्याची शक्यता नसल्याचे ते म्हणाले. त्यामुळे हा प्रकल्प उभा करताना जागेची उपलब्धताही पाहिली जाईल, असे त्यांनी सांगितले. पत्रपरिषदेला मंडळ रेल्वे प्रबंधक उप्पल, मुख्य जनसंपर्क अधिकारी सुनील उदासी यांच्यासह रेल्वेचे अन्य वरिष्ठ अधिकारी उपस्थित होते.

Micromax Infinity N12, N11 launched in India; Price in India

Micromax Informatics has launched its new Infinity N series smartphones called N12 and N11 in India. The N12 is priced at Rs 9,999, while the N11 will cost Rs 8,999.

India-based Micromax, which used to be among the leading smartphone manufacturers in the country, has had a rough 2018 thanks to the onslaught of Chinese players, which have come to dominate the market.

The new Infinity N12 and N11 smartphones both sport a notched display and dual-cameras at the back, like many of the other upcoming budget options in the market. Micromax is going for an offline only approach with this one. It will be playing in the under Rs 10,000 price segment with these devices.

Micromax Infinity N11, N12: Specifications

The Infinity N11 and 12 both have a 6.19-inches display, HD+ resolution, and 18.9:9 aspect ratio. The devices come with a dual-rear camera with AI. The specifications are 13MP+5MP on the back and the second sensor has a wide-angle lens. The Infinity N series is powered by the MediaTek Helio P22 processor. The N12 has 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, with 128GB expandable storage support. The N11 has 2GB RAM in comparison, though the total storage remains 32GB storage. Both have fingerprint sensors and face recognition features. The phones come with dual LTE and dual VoLTE. Micromax has gone for a triple slot on the N12 and N11 phones.

IPL 2019 Auction: Yuvraj Singh Unsold, Jaydev Unadkat Bought by Rajasthan For Rs 8.4 Crore

Left arm paceman Jaydev Unadkat has once again had a big pay day at the IPL auction as he was bought for a 8.4 crore by his former franchise Rajasthan Royals, who had earlier released him.

The Royals were locked in an intense battle with Delhi Capitals and later on with Chennai Super Kings. The IPL auction started with keen interest in West Indian players.

The man who hit 4 consecutive sixes to win Windies the 2016 ICC World T20, their current captain, Carlos Brathwaite was bought for 5 crore by Kolkata Knigh Riders after intense bidding. In a major development, Yuvraj Singh went unsold in the opening round of bidding. The 2011 World Cup and 2007 WT20 winner was released by Kings XI Punjab earlier.

Yuvraj has drawn a lot of interest from IPL teams in past but with the southpaw in the twilight of his careers, there weren’t too many taking interest in him. Team India paceman Mohammed Shami, who was released by Delhi earlier, was bought for 4.8 crore by Kings XI Punjab. As expected there was intense battle at the auction for West Indies youngster Shimron Hetmyer and the southpaw was eventually bought for a whopping 4.2 crore by Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Hetmyer impressed on the recent tour to India and his ability to strike the ball hard will come in handy for RCB who have been looking for a finisher for a while. England wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad by 2.2 crore.

Another sex racket busted; 3 girls rescued from ‘massage parlour’

Nagpur: Another high profile sex racket has been busted in Nagpur city. This time too, a prostitution racket was being run under the grab of salon. The Social Service Branch (SSB) of Nagpur Police raided and busted this illegal flesh trade operation and arrested the accused, 30-year-old Sunil alias Sameer Raju Vahane, and also rescued three girls who had been forced to sell their bodies.

The SSB police got information that a sex racket was running in a particular salon in the city. After the tip-off, police team raided Shaeen Salon and uncovered the sex racket that was running at the establishment at Erai Vihar, Manevada, Nagpur.

On December 14, at around 7 PM, the SSB team sent fake customer to the salon. The accused produced the girls in front of the fake customer and soon after getting the signal, police team raided it. After the raid, police arrested accused Sunil alias Sameer Raju Vahane and rescued three girls.

Accused Vahane is a resident of Yadav Nagar, Nagpur, was held but another accused, Sangita Gajbhiye, is still absconding and she is also said to have played a role in the flesh trade racket. Accused Sunil and Sangita rented the salon and were running a prostitution racket by giving large sums of money to the women as ‘salary’ for working in the massage parlour. Police have registered a case against both the accused and are searching for the absconding Sangita Gajbhiye.

Replace Narendra Modi with Nitin Gadkari; Maharashtra leader tells RSS

In a huge embarrassment, a prominent Maharashtra farmer leader has demanded that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) must replace Prime Minster Narendra Modi with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wishes to win the 2019 general elections.

The demand has come from a state-government panel, Vasantrao Naik Sheti Swavalamban Mission (VNSSM) Chairman Kishore Tiwari, on a day when Modi was in Maharashtra to attend a series of events, including laying foundation stones for Metro Rails in Thane and Pune.

In his letter to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and General Secretary Bhaiyyaji Suresh Joshi, Tiwari said the BJP’s defeat in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh was the direct outcome of “arrogant leaders” who implemented devastating decisions like demonetisation, Goods and Services Tax (GST), fuel prices hike and other anti-people measures.

“Leaders who pursue an extremist and dictatorial attitude in the party and government are dangerous for the society and the country. This has been witnessed before and if history is not to be repeated, hand over the reins to Gadkari for the 2019 polls,” Tiwari said.

On December 11, the VNSSM chief, who is accorded a Ministerial status, had categorically asked the BJP to “get rid of both Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah” for their anti-farmers and anti-people policies, which led to the party’s stunning defeats in the just concluded elections.

Accusing Modi and Shah of upturning the good works done by the former BJP governments in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, Tiwari said they (Modi-Shah) seem to be interested “only in grandiose Bullet Trains and Metro Rail projects”.

In his letters to the RSS top brass, Tiwari said that considering the “dictatorial approach” of Modi and Shah, which has unleashed fear in the country, it was imperative to have an acceptable and gentle leader like Gadkari, who can take along all viewpoints and friendly parties, evolve consensus and remove fear among people.

He said the 61-year-old Gadkari, a staunch BJP-RSS activist since decades, was “adequately qualified” for the top post since he has also headed the BJP as National President, besides ministerial capacities in Maharashtra and now at the Centre.

हिंगणा डेपो मध्ये सुरु असलेल्या कार्याचा आणि लोकमान्य नगर ते सुभाष नगर मेट्रो दरम्यान निर्माणाधीन मेट्रो स्टेशन, मेट्रो ट्रॅक व इतर संबंधित कार्याचा त्यांनी आढावा घेतला. तसेच स्टेशनवरील प्लॅटफॉर्म, ओएचई, लिफ्ट, एस्केलेटर आणि विद्युतीकरण संबंधित कार्यांची देखील पाहणी केली.

Kangana Ranaut film Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi trailer Out today. A number of revelations were made including the fact that Amitabh Bachchan gave the voice over, much like he did in Aamir Khan’s Lagaan. Though we did get quite a few shots of several action sequences featuring Kangana Ranaut fighting the soldiers of the British Empire, but it left us wanting for more.

While we got a number of quick shots in the teaser of the film, the trailer however, delves deep into the story and portrays several other characters in the film played by Danny Denzongpa, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Jisshu Sengupta, Atul Kulkarni and others.

The visuals of the trailer are breath-taking and from the scope of the battles and other action set pieces, it looks like Kangana Ranaut’s historical epic drama will be a sight to remember.

Manikarnika has already had quite a few ups and downs during the making of the film. First the director of the film, Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi left the project mid-way after rumours of her feud with the director began to make rounds.

A few weeks later, another lead actor in the film – Sonu Sood also left the project and had a very public spat with Kangana following his departure.

Add to that, in September, rumours of the film going above budget was also making headlines following which a senior producer at Zee Studios was sacked for green lighting the reshoots of the film which ended up costing the production company a fortune. But finally, the film seems ready and raring to go.

In addition to Kangana Ranaut, the film also stars TV sensation Ankita Lokhande as Jalkari Bai, Richard Keep as general High Rose, Danny Denzongpa, Jisshu Sengupta, Atul Kulkarni, Yash Tonk, Suresh Oberoi and Amit Behl. Manikarnika will hit theatres on January 25.

Nobody thought Congress leaders will get convicted in 1984 riots: PM Narendra Modi

Highlighting the delay in justice for victims of 1984 anti-Sikh riots, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday said nobody would have imagined that Congress leaders will get convicted in the case.

Modi was speaking at the Republic Summit in Mumbai. “Four years ago, nobody ever thought of Congress leaders getting convicted in the 1984 Sikh massacre and that people (victims) would get justice,” the PM said.

Modi’s remarks came a day after senior Congress leader Sajjan Kumar was convicted and sentenced to life term for “remainder of his natural life” in a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case by the Delhi High Court which said the riots were a “crime against humanity” perpetrated by those who enjoyed “political patronage”.

The high court said though it was “undeniable” that it took over three decades to punish the accused in the case, it was important to assure the victims that despite challenges faced by the court, “truth will prevail and justice will be done”.

At the Summit, Modi also took a dig at the Congress over the recent Supreme Court ruling on allegations related to procurement of Rafale jet fighters for the Indian Air Force. “For the first time it has happened that the country’s top court was approached over some allegations related to corruption. And they got a clear verdict which said whatever work has been done (in the Rafale deal), has been done with transparency and honesty,” Modi said.

Nobody ever thought such thing could take place four years ago (when Congress was in power), Modi said. “We have a psychology wherein we believe more in corruption allegations against the government. Whether it is malpractice or corruption charges, the psychology has remained same,” Modi said.

नागपूर : क्षुल्लक कारणावरून तलवारीने वार; गंभीर जखमी

नागपूर : ठेल्यावर बसून दारू पीत असताना धक्‍का लागल्याच्या क्षुल्लक कारणावरून दोन गटांत तलवारी निघाल्या. या हल्ल्यात अमोल चंद्रभान सयाम (24, रा. उदगी, ता. उमरेड) हा युवक पोटात तलवार भोसकल्याने गंभीर जखमी झाला. त्याला मेडिकलमध्ये दाखल केले आहे.

रवी दिलीप डोंगरे (27, रा. उदगी, ता. उमरेड) व अमोल हे चार मित्रांसह रविवारी पार्टी करण्यासाठी नागपुरात आले होते. ते रात्री साडेआठ वाजता खरबी रोडवर असलेल्या पायल वाइन शॉपमधून दारू घेऊन समोरच असलेल्या अंड्याच्या ठेल्यावर दारू पीत बसले. तेथे दारू पिण्यासाठी ग्लास घेत असताना अमोलचा धक्‍का अनोळखी 30 वर्षांच्या युवकाला लागला. दोघांत बाचाबाची झाली. दोघांनीही एकमेकांना पाहून घेण्याची धमकी दिली.

आरोपीने “फक्‍त 10 मिनिटे थांब, तुला दाखवतो’, असे धमकावत काही साथीदारांना बोलावले. चाकू, तलवारी व गुप्ती घेऊन काही युवक तिथे पोहोचले. युवकांना पाहून चार जणांनी पळ काढला तर अमोल थांबला. आरोपींनी अमोलवर सपासप वार करून ठार मारण्याचा प्रयत्न केला. काही वेळातच नंदनवन पोलिस तेथे पोहोचल्याने मोठा अनर्थ टळला.

पोलिसांनी जखमी अमोलला मेडिकलमध्ये दाखल केले. आरोपी अंधाराचा फायदा घेऊन पळून गेले. नंदनवन पोलिसांनी तक्रारीवरून गुन्हा दाखल करून आरोपींचा शोध सुरू केला आहे.

शहरात अनेक ठिकाणी अंडा, मच्छीफ्रायचे हातठेले “मिनीबार’ झाले आहेत. ठेलेचालक दारू पिणाऱ्यांना ग्लास, पाणी, चकना अन्य साहित्य उपलब्ध करून देतात. त्यामुळे ठेल्यांवर गुन्हेगारांचा जमावडा असतो. अजनीतील रामेश्‍वरी रोड, हुडकेश्‍वर रोडवर हातठेल्यांची मोठी रांग दिसते. मात्र, कोणतीही कारवाई होत नसल्यामुळे हातठेले गुन्हेगारांचा अड्डा बनत आहेत.

NMC fails to remove all fibre speed breakers

Nagpur: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s (NMC) Laxmi Nagar Zone acted swiftly to remove illegal fibre speed breakers from Laxmi Nagar, Gajanan Nagar, Sawarkar Nagar and other areas, after a contempt petition was filed in Nagpur bench of Bombay high court.

However, hundreds of such breakers still exist all over the city.Three of them are also planted in the HC premises itself by the public works department (PWD). Advocate Raghvendra Joshi had filed a second contempt plea last week, pointing out that the civic body was itself laying fibre made speed breakers, brazenly flouting HC directives.

Justice Vinay Deshpande had issued contempt notices to NMC commissioner Abhijit Bangar and assistant commissioner at Laxmi Nagar Zone Suvarna Dakhane.Subsequently, NMC officials removed some of the breakers, providing some respite for citizens at risk of health issues like spondylitis and other back related problems.

Quoting NMC executive engineer’s affidavit submitted in HC on June 6, 2011, the petitioner pointed out that around 677 speed-breakers located on various roads under its limits were removed by the civic body. It was also stated that works would be undertaken periodically to locate and remove speed-breakers within its limits, except in monsoon season.

Later, on December 13, 2013, corporation’s traffic department filed another affidavit in the same case, informing that most of the unauthorized speed breakers in various parts of the city had been removed. A solemn promise was made to the HC that NMC would promptly initiate steps to remove illegal speed breakers as and when they come up in various parts of the city.

Before disposing of the contempt plea, and dropping proceedings against NMC officials, justice Deshpande had clarified that the respondent should appoint a nodal officer to whom complaints can be made by citizens about unauthorized speed breakers, so that the undertaking given in HC can be complied with immediately.

It’s also expected that respondents should take take appropriate steps to conduct periodical inspections to find unauthorized illegal speed breakers and to illegal speed breakers and to remove the same,” he said.

Joshi pointed out that though NMC removed some speed breakers, it failed to cover the locations with tar, leaving uneven roads behind. He said NMC had assured HC to conduct periodical inspections to find out unauthorized and illegal speed breakers and remove them, but did nothing, which led to mushrooming of fibre speed breakers in many lanes and bylanes.

“Even institutions like PWD should follow HC orders, but it has laid such breakers inside the HC premises too, which is a headache for lawyers driving to and from the parking area,” he said.

नागपूर : नऊ वर्षाच्या अल्पवयीन मुलीसह दोघींचा शहरात विनयभंग झाल्याचा प्रकार समोर आला आहे. पहिली घटना यशोधरानगर परिसरात घडली. पीडित ९ वर्षांची मुलगी आईच्या सांगण्यावरून शेजाऱ्याकडे साडी आणण्यासाठी जात होती. त्यावेळी अंदाजे २२ वर्षे वयोगटातील एका तरुणाने सायकलवरून येऊन मुलीला कडेवर घेतले व तिच्याशी अश्लील चाळे करू लागला. दुसरी घटना, हुडकेश्वर परिसरातली आहे. येथील फिर्यादी तरुणीच्या मोबाइल क्रमांकावर एकाने अश्लील संदेश पाठवले व व्हीडिओ कॉल करून विनयभंग केला. या दोन्ही प्रकरणी पोलिसांनी गुन्हे दाखल केले आहेत.

नागपूर : शहरातील घनदाट वस्त्यांमध्ये घडणा-या दुर्घटनांवर अनेकदा त्या ठिकाणी आपल्या अग्निशमन विभागाचे वाहन पोहोचू न शकल्याने आळा घालता येत नाही. परिणामी मोठे नुकसान सहन करावे लागते. शहराची लोकसंख्या वाढत असताना वस्त्याही दाट होत आहेत. अशात अनपेक्षितपणे घडणा-या घटनांसाठी प्रशासन सज्ज असणे आवश्यक आहे. नागपूर महानगरपालिकेच्या अग्निशमन विभागाच्या पुढाकाराने खरेदी करण्यात आलेल्या २००० लिटर क्षमतेच्या ‘स्मॉल वॉटर फायर टेंडर’ वाहनांमुळे दाट वस्त्यांमधील दुर्घटनांवर आळा घालता येईल, असा विश्वास महापौर नंदा जिचकार यांनी व्यक्त केला.

नागपूर महानगरपालिकेच्या अग्निशमन व आणिबाणी विभागामध्ये खरेदी करण्यात आलेल्या २००० लिटर क्षमतेच्या चार स्मॉल वॉटर फायर टेंडर वाहनांचे सोमवारी (ता.१७) महापौर नंदा जिचकार यांच्या हस्ते लोकार्पण करण्यात आले. यावेळी महापौर बोलत होत्या.

मनपा मुख्यालयात आयोजित कार्यक्रमात विरोधी पक्ष नेता तानाजी वनवे, शिवसेना गटनेता किशोर कुमेरिया, सत्ता पक्ष उपनेत्या वर्षा ठाकरे, अग्निशमन व विद्युत विशेष समितीचे सभापती लहुकुमार बेहेते, जलप्रदाय समिती सभापती विजय झलके, महिला व बालकल्याण समिती सभापती प्रगती पाटील, ज्येष्ठ नगरसेवक सुनील अग्रवाल, निशांत गांधी, मनोज सांगोळे, भगवान मेंढे, नगरसेविका शिल्पा धोटे, वनिता दांडेकर, अतिरिक्त आयुक्त रवींद्र ठाकरे, राम जोशी, अझीझ शेख, उपायुक्त राजेश मोहिते, रंजना लाडे, प्रमुख अग्निशमन अधिकारी राजेंद्र उचके, उपमुख्य अग्निशमन अधिकारी बी.पी. चंदनखेडे, स्टेशन अधिकारी आर.आर. दुबे, सहायक स्टेशन अधिकारी एस.एस. राउत आदी उपस्थित होते.

यावेळी महापौर नंदा जिचकार व इतर मान्यवरांनी चारही वाहनांची पूजा करून वाहनांना झेंडी दाखविली. पुढे बोलताना महापौर नंदा जिचकार म्हणाल्या, अनपेक्षितपणे येणा-या संकटांमध्ये लोकांचे जीव वाचविणे आपले कर्तव्‍य आहे. त्यासाठी प्रशासनाकडे आवश्यक सुविधा असणेही गरजेचे आहे. या सुविधांचा समावेश विभागात करण्यात येत असल्याबद्दल आनंद आहे. नागरिकांच्या सुरक्षेसाठी महानगरपालिका प्रशासन नेहमी तत्पर आहे, असेही महापौर नंदा जिचकार म्हणाल्या.

शहरातील जुन्या वस्त्यांमध्ये घनदाट लोकवस्ती व अरूंद रस्ते असल्याने त्या ठिकाणी दुर्घटनेवर कार्य करण्यात अडचण निर्माण होत असते. अशा ठिकाणी कार्य करण्याकरिता नागपूर महानगरपालिकेच्या अग्निशमन व आणिबाणी सेवा विभागाने २००० लिटर क्षमतेचे चार नग स्मॉल वाटर फायर टेंडर खरेदी केले आहे. या चारही वाहनांच्या चेसीस खरेदी, फेब्रिकेशन खरेदी व फेब्रिकेशन कार्यावर एकूण १,३७,३३,३८८ रूपये खर्च झालेला आहे.

Karnataka opener Mayank Agarwal, who has been knocking at the doors of the selectors for a while, has been called up to join the squad in Australia ahead of the third Test, which begins on December 26 at Melbourne. Media reports also suggest that all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who played his first competitive match in the Ranji Trophy after recovering from a back injury sustained during the Asia Cup, has also been added to the Indian squad ahead of the third and fourth Test match.

Pandya scored a breezy half-century and picked up 7 wickets in Baroda’s drawn match against Mumbai at the Wankhede Stadium. Shaw looked in good touch as he scored a strokeful half-century in the practice match against Cricket Australia XI.

Shaw had a great start to his Test career as he scored a century on debut against West Indies and followed it up with a half-century in his second Test against the same opposition. Given the poor form of opener KL Rahul and Murali Vijay, the Indian team management were hoping that Shaw will get better ahead of the third Test but those hopes did not come true.

The teenager landed awkwardly on his ankle while attempting a catch in the deep in the practice match and was seen grimacing in pain as he was carried away from the ground.

Agarwal averages a healthy 50.30 in first-class cricket from 45 matches and has been patiently waiting for his opportunity.

नागपूर रेल्वेस्थानकावर ३३ मिनीटांत मोबाईल चोर अटकेत, आरपीएफ जवानाची कारवाई

नागपूर : रेल्वे सुरक्षा दलाने मोबाईल पळवणाऱ्या चोरट्याला अवघ्या ३३ मिनिटांमध्ये पकडले. दीपक शाह (वय २९) या प्रवाशाने पॅसेंजर लौंजमध्ये चार्जिंगला लावलेला सॅमसंग मोबाईल चोरीला गेल्याची तक्रार आरपीएफ जवान दीपक शर्मा यांच्याकडे सकाळी १० वाजता केली होती.

शाह यांच्या तक्रारीवरून रेल्वे स्थानकावरील सीसीटीव्ही फूटेज तपासण्यात आले. आरोपीने त्याच्याजवळील खराब मोबाईल काही काळ चार्जिंगवर लावला होता. कुणाचेच लक्ष नसल्याचे पाहून आरोपीने खराब मोबाईल तेथेच ठेऊन शाह यांचा मोबाईल घेऊन पळ काढल्याचा प्रकार सीसीटीव्हीमध्ये कैद झाला.

आरोपी पुन्हा मोबाईल चोरण्याच्या उद्देशाने स्लीपर क्लास वेटिंग रूमच्या बाहेर आढळला. आरपीएफ जवानांनी सकाळी १०.३० वाजता मोबाईल चोरट्यास अटक केली. प्रकाश खांडेकर (वय ५६, जरीपटका) असे आरोपीचे नाव आहे. आरोपीला मुद्देमालासह लोहमार्ग पोलिसांच्या सुपूर्त करण्यात आले.

Rahul no longer ‘Pappu’, should now become ‘Papa’: Ramdas Athawle

After Congress gained victory in three states in the recently concluded Assembly elections, Union Minister and Republican Party of India (Athawale) chief Ramdas Athawale said that Congress president Rahul Gandhi has evolved as a mutual leader and he is no more a ‘Pappu’, but has become a “Pappa” (dad).

Rahul Gandhi is often trolled as “Pappu” on social media platforms. Also, in the past, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders like BJP MP Devajibhai had faced severe criticism for calling Congress president Rahul Gandhi ‘Pappu’.

Responding to an electoral defeat of BJP in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, Ahthwale said, “People who used to call Rahul Gandhi a Pappu should know that he has become a Pappa (dad) now. I have a suggestion for him that he should marry soon to become a Pappa. After all, he has marked a victory in three states.”

Athawale further said that Prime Minister Modi has nothing to do with the party’s defeat in the three states. It is a defeat of the BJP, not the Prime Minister. In the recently-concluded Assembly elections the results of which were declared on December 11, the Congress got a massive majority in 90-member Vidhan Sabha of Chhattisgarh where the party won 68 seats, and the BJP got just 15 seats and the remaining seats went to others including BSP 2 and Ajit Jogi’s Janata Congress Chhattisgarh won 5 seats.

In Rajasthan where the poll was held in 199 seats out of 200, the Congress bagged 99 seats, and the BJP 73. On the other hand, Madhya Pradesh saw a nail-biting fight, where the Congress managed to bag 114 seats out of a total of 230, while the BJP got 109 seats.

नागपूर : मनात सकारात्मक भावना असेल तर आपल्या संपर्कात येणाऱ्या व्यक्तींना सकारात्मक दृष्टिकोन देऊ शकतो. तणावपूर्ण वातावरणातही जगताना इतरांसाठी सकारात्मक दृष्टिकोन निर्माण करुन कोणतीही गोष्ट अशक्य नाही. त्यामुळे आनंदी जीवन जगण्यासाठी सकारात्मक दृष्टिकोन अंगी बाळगणे महत्त्वाचे असल्याचे मुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस यांनी सांगितले.

पोलीस जिमखाना येथे रविवारी पोलीस आयुक्त डॉ.भूषणकुमार उपाध्याय यांनी लिहिलेल्या ‘सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिन:’ या पुस्तकाचे प्रकाशन मुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस यांच्या हस्ते झाले. त्यावेळी ते बोलत होते. कार्यक्रमाच्या अध्यक्षस्थानी केंद्रीय भूपृष्ठ वाहतूकमंत्री नितीन गडकरी होते. यावेळी पालकमंत्री चंद्रशेखर बावनकुळे, लोकमत मीडिया ग्रुपचे अध्यक्ष विजय दर्डा, माय मिरर पब्लिशिंग हाऊसचे प्रकाशक मनोज अंबिके तसेच ‘सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिन:’ पुस्तकाचे लेखक पोलीस आयुक्त डॉ. भूषणकुमार उपाध्याय आदी प्रामुख्याने उपस्थित होते.

मुख्यमंत्री श्री. फडणवीस म्हणाले, पोलीस आयुक्त डॉ.भूषणकुमार उपाध्याय यांनी या पुस्तकाच्या माध्यमातून सर्वसामान्यांना समजेल असे विचारधन सोप्या शब्दांमध्ये पुस्तकरुपाने उपलब्ध करुन दिले आहे. डॉ.उपाध्याय यांनी वृत्तपत्रामध्ये लिहिलेल्या विविध लेखांच्या संकलनाचे हे पुस्तक मराठी, हिंदी आणि इंग्रजी या तिन्ही भाषांमध्ये उपलब्ध असून आज या पुस्तकाचे प्रकाशन करताना मनस्वी आनंद होत आहे. या पुस्तकातील कोणताही लेख कोणत्याही पानापासून वाचता येतो. कारण प्रत्येक पान हे कुठलीतरी विचारधारा घेऊन लिहिलेले आहेत.

‘मन जिंकाल तर जग जिंकाल’ हा महत्त्वपूर्ण संदेश या पुस्तकाच्या माध्यमातून देण्यात आला आहे. आपले विचार बदलल्यास परिस्थिती आपोआप बदलते. आपल्या मनाची उभारी ही आपली परिस्थिती बदलवित असते. बाह्यशक्तीपेक्षा अंतर्मनाची शक्ती जास्त परिणामकारक आहे. आपल्या अवतीभोवती प्रेरणा देणारे अनेक व्यक्तिमत्व आपण बघत असतो. त्यांच्याकडून प्रेरणा घेऊन कार्य केल्यास जीवनात सकारात्मकता वाढेल, असेही त्यांनी यावेळी सांगितले. पोलीस विभागात तणावात काम करावे लागते.

रोजची बदलती आव्हाने, जबाबदाऱ्या तसेच जोखीम मोठ्या प्रमाणावार असतात अशा आव्हानात्मक क्षेत्रात काम करीत असताना देखील डॉ.उपाध्याय यांनी मनाची संवेदनशीलता कुठेही कमी होऊ दिली नाही. इतरांनी तसेच पोलीस विभागात काम करणाऱ्या अधिकारी, कर्मचारी यांनी ताणतणावाचे व्यवस्थापन कसे करावे, सकारात्मकता कशी जोपासावी यासाठी ‘सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिन:’ पुस्तक वाचावे. या पुस्तकातील विचारधन केवळ अध्यात्मावर आधारित नसून ते विज्ञानाच्या कसोटीवर तावून-सुलाखून वाचकांसमोर ठेवण्यात आले आहे. ‘सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिन:’ हे पुस्तक खऱ्या अर्थाने आनंदी जीवनाची ‘गुरुकिल्ली’ असल्याचे मुख्यमंत्री यावेळी म्हणाले.

नागपुरात अनधिकृत धार्मिक स्थळ हटविणाऱ्या पथकावर नागरिकांची दगडफेक

नागपूर : महानगरपालिका आणि नागपूर सुधार प्रन्यासतर्फे शहरातील अनधिकृत धार्मिक स्थळांचे अतिक्रमण हटविण्याची मोहीम सुरू आहे. मात्र, गांधीबाग परिसरात अनधिकृत धार्मिक स्थळाचे अतिक्रमण हटविताना महापालिकेच्या पथकाला नागरिकांनी विरोध दर्शविला. यावेळी काही असामाजिक तत्त्वांनी अतिक्रमण पथकावर दगडफेकही केली.

यावेळी अग्रसेन चौक परिसरात जमावाला पंगविण्यासाठी पोलिसांनी सौम्य लाठीचार्ज केला. लोकांच्या विरोधाला न जुमानता पोलीस बंदोबस्तात मनपा पथकाने धार्मिक स्थळाचे अतिक्रमण हटविले. धार्मिक स्थळ हटविण्यात नागरिक विरोध करण्याची दाट शक्यता होती. त्यामुळे आधीच पोलीस बंदोबस्त लावण्यात आला होता. मंदिरांवर कारवाई करत असल्यामुळे परिसरात तणावाचे वातावरण निर्माण झाले होते.

‘पिटिशन फॉर लिव्ह टू अपील‘ या ऍक्टनुसार उच्च न्यायालयाने दिलेल्या आदेशानुसार शहरातील अनधिकृत धार्मिक स्थळांचे अतिक्रमण तोडण्याची मोहीम नासुप्रने सुरू ठेवली आहे.

WhatsApp rolling out PiP feature for all Android users

WhatsApp started testing a Picture-in-Picture mode on its messaging platform back in October, allowing users to play videos on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram directly within WhatsApp. The company is now seeding the feature to the stable version of its messaging app on all Android phones, thus adding a second floating window from within the app.

The Picture-in-PIcture or PiP mode will be ported to all Android devices running the latest version 2.18.380 of WhatsApp, updated and installed from the GooglePlay Store.

The new feature enables users to watch videos in a floating window while using the app’s other chat features simultaneously. This means users can open video links from Facebook, YouTube Instagram and other platforms directly on their WhatsApp screen. Prior to this, WhatsApp redirected users to external pages and apps when clicking on video links from Youtube, Tumblr, Facebook and Instagram.

The PiP mode plays the video at the top half of the chat screen which users can click on to access it on full screen. The video can also be accessed by scrolling through other chats and group threads irrespective of the source thread it played from.

Miss Universe 2018: Catriona Gray from the Philippines claims crown

Catriona Gray from the Philippines claimed the Miss Universe crown for 2018 on Monday, beating contestants from 93 other countries.

The 24-year-old Filipina-Australian pipped South African Demi Leigh Nel-Peters for the top spot, becoming the fourth Filipina to bring home the coveted title. Miss Venezuela, Sthefany Gutiérrez, rounded out the top three at the contest in Bangkok.

Thailand’s own Sophida Kanchanarin made it to the final 10, to huge cheers from the home crowd, but did not progress further.

Doctor duped of Rs. 36.60L over son’s MBBS admission

Nagpur: Pachpaoli police, on directions of the court, have registered an offence of fraud on Sunday against four people for allegedly duping a doctor of Rs. 36.60 lakh on the pretext of providing his son admission in a MBBS college.

The police said Dr Mahendra Kaikade, a resident of Palghar, wanted his son Umesh to take admission in a MBBS college and become a doctor. However, Umesh did not receive good enough marks to get admission in a medical college.

After looking for other options, Kaikade decided to take admission on management seat for his son. So, he started started asking around for agents, following which a friend introduced him to one of the accused. The accused have been identified as Robin Meshram, Chetan Jambhulkar, Snehal Pawar and Dilip Chubal. The accused promised to get admission for Umesh at a Nashik-based college and asked for money. Kaikade paid the accused Rs. 36.60 lakh but Umesh did not get admission.

The doctor then started demanding money back as the accused had failed to provide admission. They returned only Rs. 5 lakh. It is learnt Kaikade and accused had also signed an agreement that if Umesh does not receive admission the accused will return the money. After the accused failed to repay the money, Kaikade approached the court.
