FMSMEs play pivotal role in industrial devpt: Parlewar

Nagpur : MSME-DI Nagpur recently organised a review meeting of all stakeholders of MSME INNO project to discuss various issues and initiatives being taken up under MSME INNO project in Nagpur Cluster jointly being implemented by Ministry of MSME and GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). Sangeeta Suresh, Project Officer of GIZ, New Delhi was present during the meeting to review the various initiatives that are being initiated by MSME office under the project. She explained the initiatives to strengthen the industry and academia research.

The growth of SMEs through the industry academia students innovation project is carried out. P M Parlewar, Director of MSME-DI, Nagpur welcoming all the stakeholders said, MSME plays a pivotal role in overall industrial development of India. With globalisation, there is an urgent need of dynamic and self-sustaining culture of innovation and cluster based approach for development of MSMEs. He discussed about the flagship scheme like Cluster Development, Lean Manufacturing etc.

He said, all NMCP components are under revision as methodology is changing. He said, shortly results will be there for everyone to see. MSME-DI will always provide hand-holding support to the stakeholders. “The idea of incubation centre is to commercialize innovative ideas and give them market support through capacity building. The objective is to promote incubators under MSME Scheme in Maharashtra State,” he added. Around 50 problem statements from SMEs are shared with 3 reputed institutes. Faculties and students are working to offer innovative solutions to these industries. “Another good initiative under this project is the Nagpur Incubators forum (NIF) which is one of its kind in the country has been established under the MSME INNO project wherein the Government, private and academia based incubation centres have come together to form a platform and share their challenges, best practices for each others for helping their startups gain success,” Parlewar said. C G Shegaonkar, Secretary of MIA appreciated the activities being taken up by GIZ. He said that most industries from MIDC Hingna had participated in the students innovation project.

Representatives from Incubators like Vruksh Enables, Lemon Tree, PIET Incubation Centre, Global Shapers, Venture Catalysis shared the challenges faced by them. Abhijeet from Vruksh Enables, said, “NIF is developing as a platform for experiential capacity building programme for startups.” Yogita Kasture, Consultant of GIZ spoke in brief about GIZ and said that incubator managers are being planned under NIF. Faculties from VNIT including Dr (Prof) R B Deshmukh, Jatin Bhatt and Prof. Pradyumn shared their experiences on industry interaction. He said, while entering into entrepreneurship, sustainability is needed. Deshmukh said that their incubation centre provides one window solution for startups. “We give them access to the mentors,” he added. Prof. Pradyumn Chakravarty suggested to start centre of excellence. Professors from Priyadarshini Institute of Engineering Technology informed that they have 4 startups uploaded for MSME and are waiting for approval and funds. Sachin Bogawar, Aakar Group of Institution said, MSME and GIZ should guide them to start incubation centre. Prof Shivaji Dhawad from IIM Nagpur spoke about success of their women entrepreneurs’ project. Dr C J Chandekar, Principal, Shivaji Science College, Nagpur informed about innovations.
