Nagpur: Two residential doctors of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) were beaten up by 3-4 unidentified men at Medical Square. Following this, Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) filed a complaint with Ajni police station. MARD also warned of strike if police fail to nab accused.

As per available details, the two residential doctors were observing fast following ‘Ramzan’. They came to Medical Square to buy fruits at around 6.30 pm on their two wheeler. After buying fruits, one of the doctors mistakenly pushed an unidentified man with his foot and apologised for it.

However, the other person with the unidentified man started arguing with the doctors. One of of them snatched away the keys of two-wheeler that belonged to the doctors.

The two doctors told the unidentified men that they were on fast and they are doctors. The unidentified man called two more men who were having stones in their hands. At that time, the unidentified man started beating the doctors up. As people in the area gathered at the spot, the men fled the spot in their car.

Around 100 residential doctors throng Medical Square after knowing about the incident. The injured doctors were immediately admitted to the casualty ward in GMCH.

Under the guidance of Dr Sanjay Bansal, a complaint in this regard was filed in Ajni Police Station. Dr Bansal warned of strike by doctors if the accused were not arrested by 8 pm on Saturday.
