The Maharashtra state transport department stated on Thursday that it will make road transport office (RTO) services available online. From June 2, 2022, these RTO services will be available.
Renewal of a driver’s licence, duplicate driving licence, change of address on a licence, duplicate registration certificate, change of address on registration certificate, and no-objection certificate for transfer of a driver’s licence to another state are among the services available online.
According to Satej Patil, minister of state for transport, home and information technology, the faceless platform will assist minimise the amount of paperwork necessary for 18 to 20 lakh applications each year.
According to the transportation department, in order to use the “faceless” platform, the applicant must have an Aadhaar number linked to her or his mobile number. The candidate must enrol by verifying their Aadhaar number using an OTP provided to their registered cellphone number. The application will only be processed following verification of the applicant’s additional personal information from the Aadhaar portal.
“Once the personal details of the applicant, such as name, address, date of birth and mobile number are verified, the six important RTO services will be made available online. The licence or registration certificate will be sent to the applicant by post. The facility will save time and reduced paperwork,” said Patil.
