Nagpur : Nagpur’s oldest and biggest walking race is back to instill the paramount importance of health in the minds of the young and the elderly. Jointly presented by Rotary Club of Nagpur and Arneja Heart and Multispecialty Hospital along with Dinshaw’s, Plasto and Batukbhai Jewellers as associate sponsors, ‘Walkathon 2019’ is a ‘Walk for Life’ to be held on February 24, from St Ursula Girls High School.
The event will be marked by exciting prizes to be won on 3, 6.5 and 10 kilometers walk races. Interested candidates between age groups 12 to 40 years, 41 to 55 years and 56 and above can register online at www.rcnwalkathon.com. Printed forms are also available at Arneja Hospital, Dinshaw’s Cream Studio and outlets at Residency Road, Gittikhadan, Gandhi Sagar Lake and Nirmal Nagari, Taj Baug and Titan showrooms at Sadar and Shankar Nagar. The registration charge including all taxes is just Rs 150. Dinshaw’s Food and Fun Carnival on February 23 and 24 will be another highlight of the event. All participants will also get a participant kit, gift and snack pack on February 23 at St Ursula Girls High School between 3 pm to 8 pm.
Walkathon is one of the celebrated projects of Rotary Club of Nagpur started in 2005. From the participation of merely 500 to 1,000 persons in the initial years, it has now significantly grown to 5,000 to 10,000 persons hailing from various regions of Vidarbha. Arneja Heart and Multispecialty Hospital, has also been strongest partner of event for years.
The proceeds of Walkathon 2019 will be utilised to shape other social causes of Rotary Club of Nagpur like Udaan, a fun filled sports day for differently abled children and Hemalkasa surgical camp, a medical aid for the tribal and underprivileged population. The club has taken a decision to donate a part of the proceeds to the widows of the martyrs of Pulwama.
