Twelve-year-old of Abhinav Thakur of Sanjuba High School (CBSE) scripted his name in the India Book of Records on Saturday after he successfully accomplished the record attempt of ‘Multiplying numbers in mathematical table’ in 2 minutes 88 seconds.
The feat essentially involved multiplying any randomly given number up to 100 times in mathematical table pattern in the least time.
He followed the guidelines and criterion decided by India Book of Records.
A Std VII student, Abhinav is keenly interested in mathematics.
After his record attempt, he said, “I was inspired to solve the mathematics problems speedily after attending Abacus classes.”
Jayashree Ghatbandhe, his Abacus teacher told that Abhinav had traits of a genius since the beginning of the class and his speed of solving the mathematical problems was naturally better than his class mates.
She said, “Abhinav did in six months, what other students take one or two years to do. He is the most brilliant student I’ve come across.”
Abhinav Thakur did not think of improving his skills to create a record but he was interested in excellence and honing his expertise.

Leena Yadav’s Rajma Chawal, starring Rishi Kapoor, Amyra Dastur and debutant Anirudh Tanwar, will be released on August 31, the filmmaker announced on Twitter on Thursday. Yadav, who last directed Parched (2015), described the film as a “social journey of father and son.”
“The idea behind the film is to illustrate how everything happens over the mobile phone today,” Yadav told entertainment website Bollyspice last year. “People would rather catch up over a chat than have a proper conversation and this affects parent-children relationships.”
Explaining the name of the film, she said, “Whenever I talk about rajma-chawal, it evokes a smile as people are reminded of home. There couldn’t have been a more perfect title for a father-son relationship.”
Kapoor told that the entire project would be shot at Delhi’s Chadni Chowk. “I wanted to work with Leena. I liked the ambience and where the story was being told…The triumph of this project is that we are shooting the whole film in Chandni Chowk.”
Rishi Kapoor was last seen on the silver screen opposite Amitabh Bachchan in Umesh Shukla directed 102 Not Out.

Instagram has introduced a new update called @mention sharing for its story feature. Starting 7 June, this feature will allow Instagram users to put up a story in which they have been tagged in their story.
This update comes a months after Instagram introduced capabilities to make uploading photos and videos on its “Stories” feature faster and easier. The update allows users to upload up to 10 multiple photos and videos as a story at once, along with a “preview” option. Last year It got an update that lets users simultaneously post to both Instagram Stories as well as Facebook Stories.
It further claims the following things:
When you mention someone in your story you’ll get a pop-up saying “Mentioned users may repost this story for 24 hours.”
When someone mentions you in their story, you will receive a notification in the Direct Message thread with that person. In that, you’ll be able to see an option to add that content to your own story saying “Add this to your story”.
You can tap on it and see that story as a sticker and customise it by positioning it the way you want it and also by adding GIF’s, text or any other creative tools.
When your followers see your story, the username of the person who had originally posted it will appear on your story and will also have the option of tapping on it.
This will allow your followers to even check out your friend’s profile.
This update is only possible on public accounts and also is available on iOS and Android for Instagram version 48.
We still don’t have native post sharing on the main Instagram feed even though it’s probably the most requested feature. You can use third-party apps for that, but it’s really different if you have it built-in the app itself. Instagram has previously said they’re not considering this since their priority is having original content on people’s feeds. Let’s see if they eventually change their minds.
Nagpur : The detailed project report (DPR) for multi-modal passenger hub in Ajni is ready but National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to defer its submission due to a demand raised by Central Railway (CR).
National Highways Authority of India will build an integrated bus, rail and Metro station in Ajni. As Nagpur Metro will link the city airport to the station, it will have air connectivity in effect.
NHAI has to acquire 75 acre land belonging to CR in Ajni. CR has some essential facilities on this land and they have to be relocated. CR has asked NHAI to suggest a plan for their relocation. The highway agency is therefore conducting a survey of entire railway land in Ajni to find suitable locations. Divisional commissioner Anoop Kumar is coordinating the work.
“We will not submit the DPR to the Central government until CR gives a green signal to the relocation plan prepared by our consultant,” a NHAI official.
The cost of the project, known as inter-modal station (IMS), is around Rs1,600 crore, and it will be spread over 445 acres. The pre-feasibility study done in early 2017 had found the project to be viable.
IMS is being constructed only in two cities of the country — Nagpur and Varanasi. The Orange City has been chosen due to Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari while Varanasi is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s constituency.
Nagpur inter-modal station is being built with an eye on future. NHAI envisages that 3.5 lakh people will use the facility by 2050.
Nagour : MahaMetro has decided to provide at its stations for last mile connectivity to its users. It will sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a Bengaluru-based company for this service.
The system is a hit in Bengaluru where some stations have a demand for 5,000 scooters and motorbikes.
A source in MahaMetro said that feeder buses would not depart from the station soon after the arrival of the train. “Buses will wait for some passengers so that it is at least half full. Those who don’t want to wait can use the scooters on rent service,” he added.
MahaMetro also reckons that very few people will prefer to use bicycles for reaching their destinations in Nagpur, which has a warm weather all year round.
The rent for the scooters will have to be paid through automatic fare collection (AFC) cards. “When the rent is paid, the user will get a one time password (OTP) on his mobile. When this OTP is entered in the scooter’s keyboard it will get unlocked. There will be no keys for the scooters. After reaching the destination, the scooter will have to be locked by an OTP,” said the official.
The rent for a scooter in Bengaluru is Rs5 per kilometre plus 25 paise per minute idling charges. MahaMetro will try to reduce the rates for Nagpur.
The official said the Metro agency plans to provide at least 30 scooters at every Metro station. “The number will be higher in stations which have ample parking space. In other places we will have to acquire land for parking these bikes at the stations. We will take up the issue with the state government after the MoU is signed,” he said. “We will also hold talks with big apartment schemes for parking of these rented scooters,” he added.
The Bengaluru-based company is also holding talks with other Metro agencies for providing this service.
Commenting on feeder buses, the official said that the tender would be floated when Sitabuldi to Airport South section is nearing completion. “We will start commercial operations of Nagpur Metro on this stretch. So feeder buses will be required then,” he added.
The Indian team list will once again have the famous Tendulkar surname back as legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun Tendulkar was included in U-19 side for the two four-day games against Sri Lanka. Standing at 6ft 1inch, the 18 year old Arjun is a left arm fast bowler and a handy lower middle order batsman.
Being a star kid is never easy. Nobody knows this better in the world of cricket than Arjun Tendulkar. Arjun, the son of legendary former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, is being closely tracked by the media in his cricket career. Every time he does something on the field, or when he does not do anything, he ends up getting a headline.
BREAKING: Arjun Tendulkar, son of @sachin_rt, has been called up to Rahul Dravid’s India U19 squad for their upcoming four-day games in Sri Lanka. pic.twitter.com/2zcxTnah3D
Unlike his father Sachin Tendulkar, Arjun Tendulkar is not a batsman. He is a left arm pace bowler who loves to take on the batsmen with his new cherry. Also, he is a handy lower middle-order batsman.
He failed to make it to the limited overs U19 side but has found a place in the longer formats. His father, Sachin Tendulkar, is very proud of the achievement that his son has got. He recently remarked that he fully supports Arjun in the choices that the latter makes in his cricket career. He also rightly pointed out that being selected in the U19 side is a big milestone for Arjun.
“We are happy on Arjun being selected in India U-19 team. It is an important milestone in his cricketing life. Anjali (Tendulkar) and I will always support Arjun in his choices and pray for his success,” Tendulkar told.
Giving his much awaited speech at the RSS headquarters, former President Pranab Mukherjee said on Thursday that political untouchability is not a solution to ideological differences.
He added that informed and reasoned public engagement is of national importance. “A dialogue is necessary not only to balance the competing interests but also to reconcile them.”
“I am here to share my concept of nation, nationalism and patriotism in the context of India. Our national identity has emerged after a long process of confluence and assimilation, the multiple cultures and faiths make us special and tolerant,” he said.
Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat underlined RSS’s commitment to “unifying” society and that the imprint of Indian culture can be seen on all Indians. His comments seemed intended to take away some of the sting on the former President’s remarks on the need to preserve and celebrate diversity. At the end of the function, Mukherjee stood up with others as the RSS flag was lowered but did not join the “salute”.
Pranab Mukherjee, associated with Congress for almost six decades, evoked Gandhi, Nehru, Radhakrishnan and Sardar Patel in the address and referred to the significance of the Constitution.
“Gandhiji explained that Indian nationalism was not exclusive nor aggressive nor destructive. It was this very nationalism that Pandit Nehru so vividly expressed in the book ‘Discovery of India’ he wrote. I am convinced that nationalism can only come out of the ideological fusion of Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and other groups in India,” he said.
He did not refer to the reservations some Congress and Left members expressed at his decision to visit the RSS headquarters and share the dais with Mohan Bhagwat.

Facebook has added a lip-syncing feature to its live video broadcasting tool. It allows you to add a popular song to lip sync with when shooting a live video. The feature is a lot like Musical.ly, but not completely.
Unlike Musical.ly, Facebook’s new functionality only works with live broadcasts. Musical.ly, by contrast, offers more tools for recording and customizing clips. Nonetheless, Facebook’s move is part of the company’s push to incorporate copyrighted music into the content being shared on the social network.
We’ve been partnering with music companies around the world to bring music to more experiences on Facebook. Today we’re announcing new ways for people to express themselves with music in their posts, including a new feature, Lip Sync Live. pic.twitter.com/xVO2OqDqLv
Musical.ly was acquired by Chinese firm Bytedance (which owns the news aggregator Toutiao) for $1 billion last November, and has garnered some 200 million users around the world. It also launched a $50 million fund to support creators on its platform at the end of last year.
It’s worth noting that while Facebook’s new functionality is similar to Musical.ly’s, there are some major differences. For starters, Facebook’s lip sync tool only works with live broadcasts, and there isn’t a way to filter live videos in your feed to surface only those using the lip sync feature.
Meanwhile, Musical.ly offers more tools for recording and customizing clips, and feels more like Dubsmash, or Instagram – but only with lip sync videos from its community.
Facebook’s move is part of a larger mission to allow users to incorporate copyrighted music into the content they share on the social network. It’s cut deals with record labels and distributors to allow the use of songs from the likes of Drake, Camila Cabello, and Guns N Roses to be used in live and recorded clips.

The then Akhilesh Yadav-led SP government had given its consent to the projects, following which the land for the project was identified. The state government had given approval to the project as it had the potential to generate employment in the region.

Gmail major redesign arrives for all users in July
The new Gmail redesign, love it or hate it, will eventually be the default look for all users. Some people already have access to the new appearance, but many users are stuck with the current design. That’ll be changing next month, Google has revealed.
The company plans to make the new Gmail look available to all of its users in July, followed by a mandatory transition this fall.
The company originally launched an Early Adopter Program for the new Gmail redesign, which updates the service’s look with a more modern Material Design appearance. The default version of the design, which is joined by “comfortable” and “compact” options, makes certain things like attachments stand out better.
Though some Gmail users have criticized the design, most reviews online appear to be neutral or positive. That’s a good thing, as Google plans to completely switch to the new look in the future, taking away the option to stick with the older appearance. In a recent blog post, the company revealed that everyone will get the new Material Design look in July.
The exact date wasn’t provided. Google revealed that users will initially get the option to opt-in to the change or stick with the old (current) appearance. However, the redesign will be pushed onto everyone eventually, and around eight weeks after being made available to all users, Google says anyone who hasn’t transitioned will automatically be moved to the new design.
That transition’ll be automatic, but the opt-out option will still be made available for another four weeks after that. Ultimately, around the 12-week mark after the general availability announcement, Gmail users will lose the option to revert to the old design.
While Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is leaving no stone unturned to provide quality services to passengers on train, not all efforts are going down well with the company in terms of revenue. For IRCTC to up the food quality in trains, it says it has to bring down the quantity.
Why is IRCTC bringing down food quantity in trains?
According to a 2017 Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report, the food on board trains did not meet desired standards. Since then, IRCTC has been making all efforts to improve quality of food. However, this is costing them Rs 150 per person for a full meal plate, whereas they charge Rs 112 from the passengers, resulting in losses for the catering arm of the Indian Railways.
A senior rail ministry official said maintaining quality had become difficult as a large quantity of food was being provided at low costs. “These measures would ensure that quality of food is maintained,” the official said.
IRCTC Proposes major changes
The report says that the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has drawn up a proposal that might do away with some of the mealtime favourites. Like for instance, the combo of soup, butter and breadsticks might be taken off the menu. Also, there might be rice combos instead of a complete meal that came with a vegetable/chicken, pickle, salad, roti, rice and dal.
This change has come after a panel of catering experts had suggested IRCTC that their food trays are overloaded. They also said that it has 900 grams of food whereas a normal Indian diet contains of only 750 grams. “These measures would ensure that the quality of food is maintained,” a senior rail ministry official told the Economic Times. The report further says that this might reduce the losses faced by IRCTC as they have been selling a full plate meal costing more that Rs.150 at a rate of Rs.112.
The proposal by IRCTC has also looked at reducing the dal quantity from 150 grams to 100 grams and also to provide passengers with a 120 grams of boneless chicken gravy by replacing the chicken pieces and addition of dry vegetables. “IRCTC has sent its proposal to the Railway Board, the top decision-making body of the Indian Railways. Once approved, the new services will be first introduced in 27 Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains,” the official told the Economic Times.
The report also adds that this is not the only change in the IRCTC meals as they are also looking at meal packaging. The proposal hence adds that disposable plates by provided to passengers instead of using plastic trays. “It will help us maintain the hygiene standards,” the official added.
On the eve of World Environment Day, Maharashtra Metro began fixing of solar panels at Airport South station of Nagpur Metro.
Dr Brijesh Dixit, Managing Director, Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL), disclosed that they are targeting generation of 14 MW of electricity by tapping sun’s energy. We aim to save annually Rs 12 crores and in first phase the three Metro stations in At-Grade section, namely Airport (South), New Airport and Khapri Station are shortlisted for affixing of solar panels on the rooftops.
In another significant achievement of Nagpur Metro, three Metro stations buildings were granted tag of Green Building and Indian Green Building Council have provided platinum rating to them. The certification about the same and citation was presented in a function held at the Airport (South) station today where Dr Dixit later addressed the dignitaries and spelled out the energy strategy of MMRCL. Ashok Mokha, Chief of IGBC’s Vidarbha Chapter, presented the certificate.
Also till date about 64 per cent of Nagpur Metro work has been completed. And this speed of work is going to continue and MMRCL is committed to meeting the given target so as to ensure people in Nagpur experience a world class rapid mass transport service. Once regular Metro service starts in Nagpur, it will drastically cut down the emission of harmful gases as people will switch to public transport in big numbers, Dr Dixit stated.
About 962 panels are to be fixed on the rooftops of the three Metro stations in At-Grade section. A period of one month is expected to complete the work and these panels are manufactured under Make in India policy of Central Government. MMRCL is going to make huge savings on energy cost front as rates of conventional energy is Rs. 9.67 while the solar energy is costing Rs. 3.58.
As the Metro Station in city gets finished the rooftops will be fixed with solar panels in near future. Also the office of MMRCL near Deekshabhoomi will be used for generating solar energy. The main advantage of tapping solar energy is protecting the environment by opting for green energy, said Dr Dixit further.

Indian Railways has joined hands with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to build a twin rail line along the proposed expressway between Mumbai and Nagpur – a first such coordinated move to execute a transportation project.
Both arms of the government will work together to put the project on the fast track with the aim of drastically cutting travel time on the busy route.
“Spanish consultant Ineco has conducted a feasibility study on constructing a high-speed rail line along the proposed Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway and the reports are positive,” a senior Railway Ministry official told.
Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, which is already acquiring land for the proposed expressway, will keep the rail project in mind, he added.
The elevated rail line could be built in the middle or along the proposed 800 km expressway depending on the ground situation, according to a feasibility report.
The official said that twin tunnels and bridges can also be constructed to cross rivers and negotiate hilly areas in a coordinated way for road and rail traffic.
While the feasibility report is being examined by the Railways officials concerned, the Spanish team is set to make a detailed presentation, including on the financial aspect, to the public transporter shortly to take the ambitious project further.
According to the study, travel time will be drastically reduced for both road and train travellers as the expressway will be fully access-controlled while the elevated rail track will ensure an uninterrupted high-speed train journey.
Land acquisition is a serious problem and many rail projects, including the ambitious Dedicated Freight Corridor, have been delayed due to land-related issues. The Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor is also facing the same problem.
Incidentally, the improved road network in the country has taken a toll on the Railways’ business on shorter routes and the national transporter is making a concerted effort to wean away goods and passenger traffic from roads and increase its share.
“It’s a new way of executing the project faster, as the combined efforts to acquire land will ease a major burden for both ministries and pave the way for speedy execution,” the official said.
The Mumbai-Nagpur section is part of the proposed high speed rail corridor between Howrah and Mumbai, the diamond quadrilateral rail project.
The Narendra Modi government today announced a reward scheme to crackdown on benami properties. The scheme promises to give a person reward of upto Rs 1 crore for giving specific information about benami property in a prescribed manner.
The scheme is named, the Benami Transactions Informants Reward Scheme, 2018. To become eligible for reward under the scheme, the informant is required to provide specific details about the benami property in a prescribed manner to the Joint or Additional Commissioners attached with the Benami Prohibition Units (BPUs) in Investigation Directorates of Income Tax Department.
The information provided under the reward scheme must be actionable under Benami Property Transactions Act, 1988 which was amended as the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Amendment Act, 2016.
The foreigners are also eligible for reward if they provide actionable information that leads to discovery of benami property. Identity of the persons giving information will not be disclosed and strict confidentiality shall be maintained.
The scheme is a follow up of what Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had proposed in Union Budget this year. He had promised that benami transactions and benami companies will be closely monitored. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had last year said that Aadhaar number would be used to track “benami property”.
Benami property is an asset bought by an individual or an entity but not under their own names. These transactions are done in a way to escape taxmen and payments are usually made out of undisclosed sources of income of the buyers.
The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) is likely to issue work orders for the ambitious Rs 46,000-crore Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Expressway in June, a senior government official said.
The corporation today declared the list of 13 lowest bidders for the 700-km project, which will be developed in 13 packages.
The bidders include Nagpur Megha Engineering, Afcons, NCC, PNC Infratech, Sadbhav Engineering, APCO, Reliance Infrastructure, MonteCarlo, Megha Engineering, L&T, Gayatri Projects, Dilip Buildcon and BSCPL.
“After the outcome of the financial bids, we shall now immediately undertake the process of evaluation of the valuation submitted by the financial bidders. After completion of the due diligence in next few days, we may issue work orders,” MSRDC vice-chairman and managing director Radheshyam Mopalwar said in a release.
So far, the state government has acquired 81 per cent of private and government lands for the project.
“The project will connect 10 districts, 26 talukas and 392 villages in the state and will help state prosper through a holistic process,” he added.
The greenfield project will have access control, while its design and alignment is prepared as per International Road Congress (IRC) standards.
The expressway will not only connect Nagpur and Mumbai, but also reduce current travel time of 18 hours to eight hours between the two cities.
The construction for the project has been divided into 16 packages and the bid process for the remaining three packages is still under progress.
Nagpur: With a view to avoid any disruption of running of trains, Maha Metro Nagpur is all set to construct pocket tracks in all four corridors. Pocket track is essentially a side track, which is used to stable a train, in case of any mechanical breakdown of train. This track helps in restoring Metro train service on both corridors.
While work on Nagpur project is going on a steady pace, other alternate measures are also being taken. The measures are aimed at not just providing facilities to train passengers, but also to avoid traffic disruption in case of emergencies. While Segmental Girder is routinely used for laying of up and down track for Metro trains; I Girder is essentially used for constructing `Pocket Track’ s well as track for both up and down lines.
Normally, Metro trains ply on Up and Down tracks. However, a third track – Pocket Track is constructed for emergency purposes. Trains unable to move stranded due to mechanical breakdown are pulled with the help of battery operated power engine. The train is then taken and parked on Pocket Track to avoid disruption of traffic. The train is then taken to depot for repairs during night hours, when train traffic is at its minimal.
Length of Pocket Track is 100 meters. Pocket track is an essential feature to ensure that passengers are not stranded due to train breakdown. Such tracks are being constructed in all four Reaches of Maha Metro Nagpur. In Reach-I which stretches from Khapri Metro Station to Munje Square junction, Pocket track is being constructed near Rahate Colony station.
Similarly in Reach-III, which starts at Munje Square and ends at Lokmanya Nagar, similar track has been constructed near Rachna Metro Station. Similar Pocket tracks would also be constructed in Reach-II and Reach-IV at a later stage. These tracks in four corridors would go a long way in preventing traffic disruption in any eventuality arising out of mechanical failure.
