New York: Every day, about 18 million e-mails are sent to Gmail users about the Corona epidemic. Google says such phishing attacks are rife around the world. ‘Phishing’ is a form of internet fraud in which criminals try to lure users through e-mails to obtain private information such as their passwords and credit card details. Such e-mails are being blocked by Google.
One-fifth of such e-mails last week were from e-mails related to the Corona virus. The company says the virus is now the biggest issue for phishing. One and a half billion people worldwide use Google’s Gmail service. Many scammers are sending various types of e-mails to Gmail users. Some of these e-mails are being sent in the name of the World Health Organization. The person may be encouraged to download the software or be asked for a donation. These cyber criminals are currently trying to take advantage of the names of government agencies.
