Nagpur Railway Station flyover demolition to begin from Sept 25 to pave way for six-lane road

The demolition of Nagpur Railway Station flyover will begin from September 25 and the flyover’s demolition will pave way for a six-lane road in front of the railway station.

The decision was announced by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in a review meeting held at the Standing Committee Hall of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC).

Present during the meeting were Maha Metro MD Brijesh Dixit, Nagpur Mayor Nanda Jichkar, District Collector Ashwin Mudgal, Standing Committee Chairman Virendra Kukreja, MLA Krishna Khopde, Ruling Party Leader Sandip Joshi, among others.

The responsibility of demolishing the flyover and widening the road between Jaistambh Square and Manas Square has been given to Maha Metro. Madhya Pradesh Bus Stand, Maharashtra State Transport Corporation Depot, a school, a temple and shops will also be demolished during the process.

Gadkari has asked Mudgal to rehabilitate shop owners, school and temple to other locations. The Centre has sanctioned Rs 234 crore for the project. Gadkari additionally instructed Maha Metro to develop Netaji Market at Munje Chowk and share 50% profits with NMC.
