Residents and shopkeepers of Dharampeth, Gokulpeth and Sitabuldi are more aware about keeping their surroundings clean than those of other parts of the city. Prabhag 15, comprising these localities, has been awarded for being the cleanest among all 38 prabhags in city.
Prabhag 15 receives the first prize as assistant municipal commissioner of this zone Mahesh Moroney made serious efforts to perform well in survekshan.
Prabhag 17 has areas like Ganeshpeth, Cotton Market, MSRTC bus stop etc. while Prabhag 33 and 35 cover areas like Rameshwari road, Kaushalya Nagar, many slum areas, Narendra Nagar, Manish Nagar etc. During the survey, these were found relatively clean.
Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) announced the the cleanliness awards as part of
Swachh Survekshan 2018 initiated by Maharashtra Swachha Abhiyaan. The Swachhata rankings were declared recently by the Local Self Government Institute.
Maharashtra Swachha Survekshan is a comprehensive examination undertaken by the state govt on the lines of the central government’s swachha bharat mission.
