EPFO : ईपीएफओने आपल्या खातेदारांच्या नियमात काही बदल केले आहेत. आपण नोकरीस असाल तर हा बदल काळजीपूर्वक समजून घ्या.
मुंबई : EPFO New Rule: Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) : ईपीएफओने आपल्या खातेदारांच्या नियमात काही बदल केले आहेत. आपण नोकरीस असाल तर हा बदल काळजीपूर्वक समजून घ्या. मग तो नवीन नियम काय आहे आणि तो आपल्या ईपीएफ योगदानावर कसा परिणाम करेल हे समजून घ्या. हे नियम उद्यापासून म्हणजेच 1 जूनपासून लागू होतील. म्हणजेच आपल्याकडे आजची फक्त एक दिवसाची संधी हातात आहे.
पीएफ खाते – आधारशी लिंक करा
नवीन ईपीएफओ (EPFO) नियमानुसार प्रत्येक खातेधारकाचे पीएफ खाते आधार (Aadhaar) कार्डाशी जोडलेले असावे. याची जबाबदारी ही कर्मचार्याची आहे. त्यांना त्यांचा पीएफ खाते आधारला जोडण्यास सांगण्याची जबाबदारी कंपनीची असेल. 1 जूनपर्यंत, जर एखादा कर्मचारी असे करण्यास अयशस्वी झाला तर त्याच्या पीएफ खात्यात त्याची कंपनी किंवा मालक पीएफ योगदान देखील थांबवले जाऊ शकते. त्यामुळे त्याचे मोठे नुकसान होऊ शकते. ईपीएफओने या संदर्भातील अधिसूचना देखील प्रसिद्ध केली आहे.
नवीन नियम म्हणजे काय?
ईपीएफओने सामाजिक सुरक्षा कोड 2020 च्या कलम 142 अंतर्गत नवीन नियम लागू केले आहेत. ज्यामध्ये ईपीएफओने नियोक्तांना स्पष्ट केले आहे की 1 जूनपासून पीएफ खाते आधारशी जोडले गेले नाही किंवा यूएएन आधार पडताळले नाही तर त्याचे ईसीआर-इलेक्ट्रॉनिक चलन कम रिटर्न भरले जाऊ शकत नाही. याचा अर्थ असा की पीएफ खातेधारकांना मालकाचा हिस्सा मिळू शकणार नाही. केवळ आपले योगदान खात्यातील कर्मचार्यांना दिसेल.
ईपीएफ खात्यास आधारशी कसे जोडावे
जर आपण अद्याप आपल्या पीएफ खात्याचा आधार जोडलेला नसेल तर ईपीएफओच्या अधिकृत संकेतस्थळावर जा आणि प्रथम आपले खाते आधार कार्डाशी लिंक करा आणि आधार सत्यापित यूएएन देखील मिळवा. नोकरी करणाऱ्यांच्या खात्यात पीएफ योगदानाशिवाय कंपनीची रक्कम जोडली जात होती. मात्र, आधार लिंक नसेल तर ही रक्कम जमा होणार नाही. त्यामुळे तात्काळ आधार लिंक करुन पीएफ खाते जोडा.
1. सर्व प्रथम, आपल्याला ईपीएफओ वेबसाइट www.epfindia.gov.in वर लॉग इन करावे लागेल.
2. त्यानंतर ऑनलाईन सेवांवर जा आणि ई-केवायसी पोर्टलवर क्लिक करा आणि यानंतर यूएएन आधारशी लिंक करा.
3. आपणास आपला यूएएन नंबर व नोंदणीकृत मोबाईल क्रमांक यूएएन खात्यातून अपलोड करावा लागेल.
4. आपल्या मोबाइल नंबरवर एक ओटीपी नंबर येईल.
5. आपला 12 अंकी आधार नंबर आधार बॉक्समध्ये भरा आणि सबमिट करा
6. नंतर पुढे जाण्यासाठी ओटीपी पडताणीसाठी येईल, त्यावर क्लिक करा
7.. पुन्हा आधार तपशिलाची पडताळणी करण्यासाठी ओटीपी आधार लिंक मोबाइल फोनवर किंवा मेलवर तयार करावा लागेल.
8. पडताळणीनंतर तुमचा आधार तुमच्या पीएफ खात्याशी लिंक होईल.
An Oxford University-led study has suggested that bacterial diseases like pneumonia, meningitis and sepsis, may have been reduced by the lockdowns imposed due to Covid-19 in recent times.
Co-authored by Professor David Murdoch, an infectious disease expert and Dean of the University of Otago, Christchurch, the study says that global lockdowns cut short the spread of deadly invasive bacterial diseases and potentially saved millions of lives.
The most common illnesses caused by invasive bacteria – pneumonia, meningitis and sepsis – are the reasons for deaths worldwide, especially among children and older adults. Like coronavirus, these pathogens are also transmitted via the respiratory route.
Reportedly, in 2016 itself, 336 million cases of lower respiratory invasive infections were reported worldwide. 2.4 million people were believed to have succumbed to death due to the illnesses.
The study has discovered that all countries have witnessed a reduction in invasive bacterial infections between January and May 2020. Compared with the previous two years, around 6000 fewer cases were reported on average in every country, the study said.
It further noticed that illnesses caused by invasive but non-respiratory bacterial species did not decrease, showing that Covid-19 lockdowns had not significantly disturbed the disease reporting methods.
For streptococcus pneumoniae, infections went down by 68% within four weeks of Covid-19-imposed containment measures and by 82 per cent at eight weeks. However, infections due to streptococcus algalactiae did not go down.
According to a Times of India, the researchers of the study believe that the reduction in cases of invasive respiratory bacterial infection was due to low person-to-person transmission, instead of disruption of medical care or disease reporting.
The investigators have stressed vaccination against these diseases with the relaxation of Covid-19 restrictions.
“These results clearly demonstrate that Covid-19 containment measures reduce the transmission of other respiratory pathogens and associated diseases, but they also impose a heavy burden on society that must be carefully considered. Therefore, ongoing microbiological surveillance, such as that shown in this study, is essential. Public health efforts must also remain focused on protecting against life-threatening diseases caused by these bacterial pathogens, by implementing the safe and effective vaccines that are available and in use in many parts of the world,” Angela Brugemman, co-author of the study and Professor of Infectious Disease Epidemiology at the University of Oxford’s Nuffield Department of Population Health, said.
The researchers studied data from national laboratories and surveillance programmes from 26 countries and territories of six continents. They analysed data on national Covid-19 policies and containment measures with the help of Oxford Covid-19 Government Response Tracker.
मुंबई, राज्यभरात लागू असलेले कठोर निर्बंध आणखी 15 दिवस कायम ठेवण्याची घोषणा मुख्यमंत्री उद्धव ठाकरे यांनी आज रविवारी केली. राज्यातील प्रादुर्भाव जास्त असलेल्या जिल्ह्यांमध्ये निर्बंध आणखी कडक करण्यात येणार असून, प्रादुर्भाव कमी झालेल्या जिल्ह्यांत परिस्थितीनुसार निर्बंध शिथिल केली जाणार आहेत, अशी माहिती मुख्यमंत्र्यांनी यावेळी दिली.
राज्यात निर्बंध लागू असले, तरी अर्थचक्र सुरू राहायला हवे, यासाठी देखील काही उपाययोजना केल्या जाणार आहेत, असे त्यांनी फेसबुक लाईव्हच्या माध्यमातून राज्यातील जनतेशी संवाद साधताना सांगितले. कोरोनामुक्त घर, कोरोनामुक्त गाव हा संकल्प आपण करायला हवा. यामुळेच गाव, शहर, तालुका, जिल्हा आणि पर्यायाने राज्य कोरोनामुक्त होऊ शकते. याच अनुषंगाने आपण उद्या सोमवारपासून कोरोनामुक्त गाव ही मोहीम हाती घेत आहोत. हिवरेबाजार, घाटणे ही गावे कोरोनामुक्त झाली, अशी माहिती त्यांनी दिली. कोरोनाच्या पहिल्या लाटेत बाधितांच्या संख्येने शिखर गाठले होते. आता बाधितांची संख्या कमी झाली, पण पाहिजे तशी खाली आली नाही. निर्बंध लादण्याची इच्छा नाही, पण राज्याच्या हितासाठी कटू निर्णय घ्यावे लागतात. पूर्वी बरे होण्याचे प्रमाण 78 टक्के होते, आता 92 टक्के आहे. त्यावेळी टाळेबंदी होती आणि आता फक्त निर्बंध आहेत, असे ते म्हणाले.
अनाथ बालकांचे पालकत्व स्वीकारणार
कोरोनामुळे अनेक मुलांच्या डोक्यावरून आई-वडिलांचे छत्र हिरावले गेले. असंख्य बालके अनाथ झाली. या सर्व बालकांचे पालकत्व राज्य सरकार स्वीकारेल. या अनाथ बालकांना शिक्षण, राहण्याची व्यवस्था यासह जिथे जिथे जे काही शक्य असेल, तिथे ती सर्व व्यवस्था करणार आहोत, असे त्यांनी सांगितले.
तिसरी लाट आल्यास मुलांची काळजी घ्या
देशात, राज्यात तिसरी लाट आल्यास आपल्या घरातील लहान मुलांना कोरोनाचा संसर्ग व्हायला नको, याची काळजी ज्येष्ठ नागरिक आणि घरातील इतर सदस्यांनीच घ्यायची आहे. या लाटेचा फटका जर लहान मुलांना बसला, तर राज्यात आतापासून बालरोगतज्ज्ञांचे कृती दल सज्ज ठेवले आहे, असे मुख्यमंत्री म्हणाले.
दहावीची परीक्षा होणार नाही
राज्यात दहावीची परीक्षा कुठल्याही स्थितीत होणार नाही. नववी आणि दहावीच्या अंतर्गत परीक्षांच्या आधारावर मूल्यमापन करून, गुण दिले जाणार आहे, असे सांगताना त्यांनी बारावीच्या परीक्षेचा मुद्दाही उपस्थित केला. बारावी परीक्षेवरच पुढचे उच्च शिक्षण अवलंबून असते, त्यामुळे केंद्राने एकच सर्वंकष शैक्षणिक धोरण ठरविण्याची गरज आहे. तशी विनंती मी पंतप्रधान नरेंद्र मोदी यांना करणार आहो. शिक्षण सुरू राहायलाच हवे, यासाठी क्रांतिकारी निर्णय घेण्याची गरज आहे. वर्क फ्रॉम होमप्रमाणेच शिक्षणासाठी काही करता येईल का, यावर विचार सुरू असल्याचे त्यांनी सांगितले.
चक्रीवादळातील नुकसान भरपाईचे निकष बदलण्याची गरज
चक्रीवादळातील मदतीबाबतचे निकष बदलण्याची वेळ आली आहे. एनडीआरएफ आणि एसडीआरएफच्या निकषांप्रमाणे मदत ठरवली जाते. दरवर्षीच चक्रीवादळ येत आणि नुकसान होते. त्यावर कायमस्वरूपी उपाययोजना करण्याची गरज आहे. किनारपट्टीच्या भागांमध्ये भूकंपरोधक घरे बांधण्याचा, विजेचे खांब कोसळणार नाही, वीज खंडित होणार नाही, यासाठी भूमिगत विजेच्या तारा देण्याचा पर्याय समोर आहे. केंद्र सरकार यात आपल्याला नक्कीच मदत करेल, अशी अपेक्षा त्यांनी यावेळी व्यक्त केली.
THE National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has asked all States and Union Territories (UTs) to upload data of children who have lost either one or both parents to COVID-19 on its portal. Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani had said as many as 577 children across the country were orphaned after their parents succumbed to COVID, citing reports of States and Union Territories from April 1 till March 25. The announcement by the apex child rights body comes a day after the Supreme Court directed all district officers across the States/UTs to fill data related to children who have lost either one of both parents to COVID within 24 hours on the Bal Swaraj portal under the ‘COVID Care’ link. Bal Swaraj is an online tracking portal of the NCPCR for children in need of care and protection.
“Keeping in view the current situation of COVID- 19, the Commission has extended the use of this portal for tracking children who have lost both parents or either of them… and provided a link under the name of ‘COVID Care’ on this portal for filling of data of such children by the concerned officer/department,” the NCPCR said in a letter to all principal secretaries of the States and UTs’s Women and Child Development Department. The NCPCR said the login IDs of district child protection officers for uploading the data and filling up the forms of social investigation report and individual child care plan as provided by the commission have been issued. The login IDs for all principal secretaries for uploading of data on the portal concerned with the State Government have also been issued.
A WhatsApp message is doing the rounds claiming that the government may have control over users’ WhatsApp. This is a false message as WhatsApp has not made any changes to its system and the government does not have access to anyone’s WhatsApp. The message reads – “Two blue ticks, and one red tick means the government can take action, while three red ticks will mean the government has started court proceedings against you.” This comes amid an ongoing legal fight between the government and WhatsApp over the Facebook-owned instant messaging app’s latest terms of service and the government’s recently-introduced IT rules in the country.
The fake WhatsApp message has been circulated among many WhatsApp groups. It falsely claims that WhatsApp is bringing new communication rules for messages and calls that will connect devices to the government. The fake message also mentions that the new system will allow the law enforcement authorities to take action against people posting messages and videos that are critical of the government. All of this is false information as there is no change in WhatsApp’s system. It is also important to note that WhatsApp uses end-to-end encryption for private chats so no one, including WhatsApp can read your conversations on the messaging platform – not even the government.
Now, such WhatsApp messages are commonplace in today’s time. A similar message was doing the rounds on WhatsApp around last year as well with similar claims of “red ticks” indicating government action against WhatsApp users.
WhatsApp users are advised not to forward such messages to their contacts. Given the timing of this message, it is easy for users to believe the message as WhatsApp is defending itself from the government’s action against the messaging platform, in lieu of the Indian government’s latest IT guidelines.
जळगाव: बेपत्ता झालेल्या नातीला शोधून हताश झालेल्या एका आजोबाला जळगाव पोलिसांनी त्यांची नात उत्तर प्रदेशमधून शोधून स्वाधीन केली आहे. दीड वर्षांपुर्वी जळगाव जिल्ह्यातील यावल तालुक्यातून धोबीवाडा येथून एक ११ वर्षांची चिमुकली गायब झाली होती.
नात गायब झाल्यानंतर आजोबा भिमसिंग कोळी यांनी पोलिसांत तक्रार दाखल केली होती. शाळेत गेल्यानंतर ११:३० वाजेच्या दरम्यान एका रिक्षावाल्याने ट्विंकलचं अपहरण केलं. नात घरी न आल्याने आजोबा शोध घेत होते.
आजोबांनी सर्व नातेवाईकांकडे चौकशी केली होती. मात्र नात ट्विंकल सापडली नाही. जळगावमधील ट्विंकलची आईही हरवली होती. यानंतर आजोबांनी पोलिसांत तक्रार दाखल केली. पोलिसांनीही तपास केला मात्र त्यांनाही यश आले नाही. आजोबांना नातीची आठवण नेहमी यायची. नातीच्या आठवणीने आजी तर आजारीच पडली.
२४ एप्रिल रोजी आजोबा भिमसिंग यांना एक फोन आला. फोनवर एक मुलगी बोलत होती. मुलीचा आवाज आजोबांनी ओळखला. आपली नात ट्विंकलचं असल्याचं त्यांना समजलं. यानंतर आजोबांना खुप आनंद झाला.
आजोबांना ट्विंकल म्हणाली, उत्तर प्रदेशमधील गोरखपुर जिल्ह्यातील बडहलगंज येथे मी आहे. मला आणि आईला एका व्यक्तीने फसवून रिक्षातून इथं आणलं आहे. बाबा आईचा कोरोनाने मृत्यू झाला आहे. बाबा माझे कपडे फाटले आहेत. मला चप्पलही नाही. हे ऐकताच आजोबा भिमसिंग ढसा ढसा रडू लागले.
भिमसिंग यांनी तात्काळ पोलिसांना याची माहिती दिली. पोलिसांच्या पथकाने भिमसिंग यांना घेऊन उत्तर प्रदेश गाठलं. स्थानिक पोलिसांच्या मदतीने बडहलगंज येथे पोलिसांचे पथक गेले. या ठिकानी ट्विकल पोलिसांना सापडली.
आजोबांना पाहताच ट्विंकलने आजोबाला मिठी मारली. यानंतर उत्तर प्रदेशमधून जळगावच्या धोबीवाडा येथे पोलिसांनी ट्विंकलला आणलं. ट्विंकल सापडल्याने आजीचेही डोळे पाणावले. पोलिसांनी विशेष कामगिरी करत एका चिमुकलीला शोधून काढल्याने त्यांचे कौतूक होत आहे.
जालना: जालना जिल्ह्यातील भोकरदन तालुक्यात एका मुलीने लग्नाच्या दिवशीच आपल्या प्रियकरासोबत आत्महत्या केली होती. ही घटना ताजी असतानाच आणखी एका युवकाने प्रेम प्रकरणात आई-वडिलांचा झालेला अपमान जिव्हारी लागल्याने आत्महत्या केली आहे. भोकरदान तालुक्यातील वालसावंगी शिवारात ही घटना घडली.
वालसंगी शिवारात तरुणानं झाडाला गळफास घेत आत्महत्या केली. त्यापूर्वी त्यानं फेसबूक लाईव्हवर व्हिडिओ करत आत्महत्या करत असल्याचं सांगितलं. आत्महत्येसाठी कोणालाही जबाबदार ठरवू नये असही त्याने व्हिडिओत म्हटलं आहे.
सिल्लोड तालुक्यातील हत्ती बाहुली गावातील एकवीस वर्षीय तरुण सुमीत किशोर पारधे या तरुणाचे प्रेम प्रकरणातून वाद झाले होते. या वादातून त्याच्या आई वडिलांवर माफी मागण्याची वेळ आली होती. आई वडिलांचा झालेला हा अपमान सुमीतच्या जिव्हारी लागला होता. आई वडिलांची इज्जत आपण धुळीत मिळवली या अपराधी भावनेनं सुमीतनं आत्महत्या केली.
सुमीत वालसावंगी गावातील नातेवाईकांना भेटण्यासाठी जात होता. मात्र रस्त्याने जात असताना त्याची गाडी पंक्चर झाली होती. तेव्हा सुमीतच्या साथीदार गाडी पंक्चर काढण्यासाठी गेला. तर सुमीत गोळी आणायची सांगून वालसावंगी शिवारातील वनीकरण विभागाच्या झुडपात गेला. तिथेच त्याने गळफास घेऊन आत्महत्या केली.
पती पत्नीच्या भांडणाच्या अनेक घटना रोज देशात घडत असतात. त्यातील काही भांडणाच्या व्हिडीओ सोशल मिडीयावर व्हायरल होत असतात. अशीच एक घटना समोर आली आहे. यामध्ये पत्नीने आपल्या पतीची धुलाई केली आहे. या सगळ्या प्रकाराला तेथे उभे असलेल्या लोकांनी आपल्या कॅमेऱ्यात कैद केले.
आपल्या पतीला दुसऱ्या महिलेसोबत एका रूममध्ये रंगेहात पकडल्यानंतर पत्नीने आपल्या पतीला लाकडाच्या तुकड्याने जबर मारहाण केली. पोलिसांनी दखल घेतल्यानंतर हे प्रकरण शांत झाले. ही घटना मध्य प्रदेशमधील आगर मालवा जिल्ह्यातील आहे.
तर झाले असे होते की नागद जंक्शनच्या बाहेर असलेल्या एका घराच्या बाहेर खुप मोठी गर्दी जमली होती कारण एक पत्नी आपल्या पतीला मारहाण करत होती. तिने आपल्या पतीला दुसऱ्या महिलेसोबत रंगेहात पकडले होते.
तेथे अनेक पत्रकार आणि पोलिसही जमा झाले होते. पत्नीने आपल्या साथिदारांसोबत त्या घराचा दरवाजा वाजवला. थोड्या वेळाने जेव्हा दरवाजा उघडला तेव्हा सगळ्यांना धक्काच बसला. आतमध्ये त्या महिलेचा पती आणि आणखी एक महिला होती.
पती बाहेर येताच पत्नीला राग अनावर झाला आणि तिने एका दांडक्याने पत्नीची धुलाई केली. पती-पत्नीच्या त्या भांडणाला सगळ्या लोकांनी आपल्या कॅमेऱ्यामध्ये रेकॉर्ड केले. जशी ती महिला बाहेर आली पत्नीने त्या महिलेलाही मारहाण करण्यास सुरूवात केली.
पोलिसांच्या समोर हा सगळा प्रकार चालू होता. पोलिसांनी सगळ्यांना गाडीत टाकले आणि त्यांना पोलिस स्टेशनला घेऊन गेले. तेथे गेल्यानंतर त्यांना समजवण्यात आले आणि सोडून देण्यात आले. दरम्यान, घटनास्थळी उभे असलेल्या लोकांनी मात्र या घटनेचा पुर्ण आनंद घेतला आणि ही पुर्ण घटना आपल्या फोनमध्ये रेकॉर्ड केली.
As we know after the first and second wave of Covid-19 pandemic, it is anticipating that the third wave will arrive soon. In this situation, the Zilla Parishad(ZP) is insisting that women between the ages of 18 and 44 should be vaccinated as soon as possible in the rural areas to prevent the third wave. But considering the availability of vaccines, vaccination in this age group has not started in the district yet.
In order to prevent the situation get much worse, the ZP has demanded vaccination from the Central government. The second wave of coronavirus infection in rural areas had a major impact. A third wave is now being predicted to affect young children. It is expected to cost around Rs.10 crore to enable the health system in rural areas. A proposal has been sent to Animal Husbandry Minister Sunil Kedar to set up paediatric Covid Care Centres in rural areas, including manpower, equipment and medicines, extra beds. Two ambulances will be provided in each tehsil to cope with the third wave. And for vaccination in tribal areas Ramtek and Parseoni of the district, the Zilla Parishad will conduct counselling and public awareness through the officers, teachers and staff.
Nagpur has seen a drastic decrease in daily cases and Active cases of COVID-19 in the past few weeks. The Second Wave of COVID-19 led to a shortage of healthcare facilities while the Active cases of the district reached 70,000 and above in April. However, the sudden drop in daily cases also led to a decrease in Active cases to 8093. Although the decline in cases is a big relief for Orange City, another fungal infection ‘Mucormycosis’ or ‘Black Fungus’ which is taking a pace in COVID and COVID recovered patients is causing major problems for the authority.
Even with the decrease in COVID cases, Orange City stands on top of the list of patients suffering from the ‘Mucormycosis’ infection. According to the official report of Mucormycosis in Covid patients with 969 cases, Nagpur has the highest number of cases suffering from black fungus recorded till.
While other nearby areas Bhandara has 9 cases, Chandrapur has 69 cases, Gadchiroli has registered 0 cases. Gondia has 33 cases, Wardha has 76 cases taking the tally to 1156.
Orange city also stands top in the death list, as well as 77 people, have lost their lives due to the ‘Black Fungus’ while 82 fatalities have been reported in Nagpur Circle. With this 500 patients have defeated the black fungus and have been discharged from the hospital. The government is making efforts on increasing the production of life-save medicines in the treatment of black fungus. Wardha-based Genetic Life Sciences has manufactured Amphotericin B Emulsion injections for treating Mucormycosis. The distribution of the essential drug will begin from Monday at Rs 1200 each.
Nagpur: Following oil marketing companies revised the fuel prices on Friday night, petrol surpassed the Rs 100/liter mark creating an all-time high record in the Second Capital of the State. Petrol will be sold at a price of Rs 100.02/- per liter in the city on Saturday, as the new rates are applicable for the following day.
Petrol price was Rs 99.77/- per liter on Friday which gained 25 paise per liter to reach its all-time high. Diesel price also saw a jump of 29 paise per liter on Friday night to touch a new high of Rs 90.62/- per liter. On Friday, diesel price was Rs 90.33/- per liter. Even as the fight against the novel coronavirus continues and people cutting across all sections of the society are facing hardship due to it, fuel prices are showing consistent hikes for the past couple of weeks.
The lockdown-like-restrictions in Maharashtra on account of the coronavirus pandemic have been extended by 15 days but a fresh set of guidelines will be issued on June 1, health minister Rajesh Tope said on Friday.
No relaxation will be given in the areas where the number of patients and positivity rate are still high and hospital bed availability is an issue, he said.
“But in the areas where the situation has improved, certain guidelines (easing the curbs) can be issued,” he added.
Asked if shops selling non-essential commodities will be allowed to open, he said all such decisions will be taken on June 1.
प्रेयसीला वाचवण्यासाठी तरूणाने अंगावर पेट्रोल ओतून आत्महत्या केल्याची धक्कादायक घटना तमिळनाडुतील रामनाथपुरम येथे घडली. प्रेयसीच्या घरच्यांनी प्रेमविवाहाचा प्रस्ताव नाकारल्याने तरुणाने हे टोकाचे पाऊल उचलले.
मिळालेल्या माहितीनुसार, विजय इंजीनिअरिंग करत असताना त्याची अपर्णासोबत ओळख झाली. मैत्री आणि नंतर प्रेम झाले. दोघे रिलेशनशिपमध्ये होते. शिक्षण पूर्ण झाल्यानंतर विजयला नोकरी मिळाली. त्यासाठी तो चेन्नईला आला.
काही दिवसांनी विजयला त्याच्या मित्रांकडून समजले की, अपर्णाच्या कुटुंबीयांना तिच्या रिलेशनशिपबद्दल समजले असून तिचा फोन जप्त केलाय. त्यानंतर विजय अपर्णाच्या घरी लग्नाची मागणी घालण्यासाठी पोहोचला. मात्र अपर्णाच्या घरच्यांनी त्यांच्या लग्नाला नकार दिला.
त्यानंतर विजयने अपर्णाच्या घरच्यांना एका आठवड्याचा वेळ दिला आणि पुन्हा लग्नाच्या परवानगीसाठी येईल असे सांगितले. यादरम्यान अपर्णाच्या घरच्यांनी कराईकुडी महिला पोलीस ठाण्यात तक्रारही दाखल केली. गेल्या शनिवारी विजय पुन्हा लग्नाच्या मागणीसाठी अपर्णाच्या घरी आला. त्यावेळी अपर्णाच्या घरच्यांनी म्हटले की, सगळे काही या मुलीमुळेच होत आहे, हीच राहिली नाही तर सर्व प्रकरण संपेल. हे ऐकून विजय घाबरला. पोलिसांनी सांगितले की, त्यानंतर विजयने अपर्णाच्या घरासमोर अंगावर पेट्रोल ओतून आग लावून आत्महत्या केली. अपर्णाला काही करू नका मीच मरतो, म्हणत त्याने आत्महत्या केली.
विजयच्या शरीराला आग लागल्याचे पाहून शेजाऱ्यांनी त्याला वाचवण्याचा प्रयत्न केला. आग विझवली आणि पोलिसांना माहिती देण्यात आली. त्यानंतर विजयला उपचारासाठी रुग्णालयात दाखल करण्यात आले मात्र, उपचारादरम्यान त्याचा मृत्यू झाला. याप्रकरणी अधिक तपास कराईकुडी साउथ पोलिस करत आहेत.
नवी दिल्ली: देशाची राजधानी दिल्लीमध्ये एका महिलेने मरता-मरता चार लोकांना जीवनदान दिल्याची घटना समोर आली आहे. या महिलेने स्वत:चा जीव तर गमावला मात्र चार लोकांसाठी ती देवदूत ठरली आहे. महिलेने अवयव दान करून चार लोकांचा जीव वाचवला.
ही आहे दिल्लीच्या सर गंगाराम हॉस्पिटलमधील. इथे ४३ वर्षीय महिलेने तिचे अवयव दान केले. ही महिला हायपरटेंसिवची शिकार होती. अचानक तिला उलट्या सुरू झाल्या आणि जोरात डोकं दुखू लागलं होतं. त्यानंतर तिला हॉस्पिटलमध्ये दाखल करण्यात आलं. या महिलेचा कोविड टेस्टही निगेटिव्ह आली होती.
ब्रेन हॅमरेजने घेतला जीव गेल्या २० मे रोजी महिलेला सर गंगाराम हॉस्पिटलमध्ये इमरजन्सी डिपार्टमेंटमध्ये दाखल करण्यात आलं होतं. तिची स्थिती सतत गंभीर होत होती. टेस्टमधून समोर आलं की, महिलेला ब्रेन हॅमरेजची तक्रार आहे. डॉक्टरांना तिचा जीव वाचवण्याचा प्रयत्न केला. पण तसं काही होऊ शकलं नाही. डॉक्टरांनी महिलेला ब्रेन डेड घोषित केलं.
ही माहिती मिळताच महिलेच्या परिवारावर दु:खाचा डोंगर कोसळला. महिला सात भावांना एकुलती एक बहीण होती. आता तिच्या मागे पती आणि एक २१ वर्षीय मुलगा आहे.
हॉस्पिटलमध्ये महिलेच्या नातेवाईकांची काउन्सेलिंग केलं गेलं आणि त्यांना महिलेचे अवयव दान करण्यासाठी तयार करण्यात आलं. त्यांना सांगण्यात आलं की, ते महिलेच्या आठवणी जिवंत ठेवू शकतात. नंतर महिलेचा परिवार अवयव दानासाठी तयार झाला. अशाप्रकारे महिलेने मरता मरता काही लोकांचा जीव वाचवला.
हॉस्पिटलमधील डॉक्टरांच्या टीमने महिलेचे अवयव काढले आणि एका ५८ वर्षीय व्यक्तीमध्ये लिव्हर ट्रान्सप्लांट केलं होतं. ही व्यक्ती दोन वर्षापासून वेटींग लिस्टमध्ये होती. त्यांनी जगण्याची आशा सोडली होती. तसेच ब्रेन डेड झाल्यानंतर महिलेचं हृदय एम्समधील एका रग्णाला देण्यात आलं.
नागपूर: कोरोनानंतर होणाऱ्या म्युकरमायकोसिसवरील इंजेक्शनचा प्रचंड तुटवडा जाणवतो आहे. या आजाराला रोखण्यासाठी वापरण्यात येणाऱ्या ‘अॅम्फोटेरेसिन बी’ या इंजेक्शनचे उत्पादन आता वर्धा येथे सुरू झाले आहे. केंद्रीय मंत्री नितीन गडकरी यांच्या वाढदिवशी उत्पादन सुरू करून आम्ही त्यांना एकप्रकारे ही भेटच दिली आहे, असे गुरुवारी कंपनीतर्फे सांगण्यात आले. सोमवार (दि. ३१) पासून जिल्हाधिकाऱ्यांमार्फत या इंजेक्शनचे वितरण करण्यात येणार आहे.
‘अॅम्फोटेरेसिन बी’ या इंजेक्शनचा तुटवडा लक्षात घेता, वर्ध्यात याचे उत्पादन व्हावे, या दृष्टीने पावले उचलण्यात आली होती. १४ मे रोजी वर्ध्याच्या जेनेटिक लाईफ सायन्सेस या कंपनीला ‘अॅम्फोटेरेसिन बी’च्या निर्मितीची मंजुरी महाराष्ट्र शासनाच्या अन्न व औषध प्रशासनाकडून मिळाली. त्यानंतर कंपनीने या इंजेक्शनची निर्मिती सुरू केली आहे.
…तर दररोज २० हजार इंजेक्शनचे उत्पादन

Ever since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, India has been making multiple strides in augmenting its testing infrastructure and capacity. Scientists of Nagpur-based National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) under Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) have achieved another milestone in this journey, with the development of a ‘Saline Gargle RT-PCR Method’ for testing COVID-19 samples.
A Method with Numerous Benefits: Simple, Fast, Comfortable, Economical
The Saline Gargle method offers a bunch of attractive benefits, all rolled into one. It is simple, fast, cost-effective, patient-friendly and comfortable; it also offers instant results and is well-suited for rural and tribal areas, given minimal infrastructure requirements. Speaking to PIB, Dr. Krishna Khairnar, Senior Scientist, Environmental Virology Cell, NEERI says: “Swab collection method requires time. Moreover, since it is an invasive technique, it is a bit uncomfortable for patients. Some time is lost also in the transport of the sample to the collection centre. On the other hand, the Saline Gargle RT-PCR method is instant, comfortable and patient-friendly. Sampling is done instantly and results will be generated within 3 hours.”
Patient herself can collect the Sample
The method is non-invasive and so simple that the patient herself can collect the sample, explains Dr. Khairnar. “Collection methods like nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal swab collection require technical expertise; they are also time-consuming. In contrast, the Saline Gargle RT-PCR method uses a simple collection tube filled with saline solution. The patient gargles the solution and rinses it inside the tube. This sample in the collection tube is taken to the laboratory where it is kept at room temperature, in a special buffer solution prepared by NEERI. An RNA template is produced when this solution is heated, which is further processed for Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR). This particular method of collecting and processing the sample enables us to save on the otherwise costly infrastructural requirement of RNA extraction. People can also test themselves, since this method allows self-sampling.” The method is environment-friendly as well, since waste generation is minimized.
A Boon for Testing in Rural and Tribal Areas
The scientist expects that this innovative testing technique will be especially beneficial for rural and tribal areas where infrastructure requirements can be a constraint. The non-technique has received the approval of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). NEERI has further been asked to train other testing labs, to help scale up its adoption across the country.
Nagpur Municipal Corporation has given permission to go ahead with the method, following which testing has begun at NEERI, as per approved testing protocol.

Scientists, researchers and lab-technicians of the Environmental Virology Cell at NEERI have taken painstaking efforts to develop this patient-friendly technique amid surging COVID-19 infections in the Vidarbha region. Dr. Khairnar and his team hopes that the method is implemented at the national level, resulting in faster and more citizen-friendly testing, thereby strengthening our battle against the pandemic.

राज्य शासनाच्या शालेय शिक्षण विभागाने अखेर महाराष्ट्र बोर्डाच्या इयत्ता दहावीच्या विद्यार्थ्यांच्या निकालाचा फॉर्म्युला निश्चित केला असून तो जाहीर करण्यात आला आहे. जून अखेरपर्यंत दहावीच्या विद्यार्थ्यांचे निकाल लावण्यात येणार आहे. दरम्यान इयत्ता अकरावी प्रवेशासाठी ऐच्छिक स्वरुपाची सीईटी परीक्षा घेण्यात येणार आहे. याबाबतचा निर्णय शालेय शिक्षण मंत्री वर्षा गायकवाड यांनी नुकताच जाहीर केला आहे. दहावीच्या विद्यार्थ्यांच्या निकालासंदर्भात आणि अकरावीच्या प्रवेशाबद्दलची प्रक्रिया जाहीर केली. दहावीच्या निकालासाठी १०० टक्के गुणांपैकी ५० टक्के गुणांचे वेटेज दहावीच्या अंतर्गत मूल्यमापनावर तर ५० टक्के गुणांचे वेटेज नववीच्या अंतिम परीक्षेच्या गुणांना देऊन विद्यार्थ्यांचे मूल्यमापन केले जाणार आहे. विद्यार्थ्यांना अंतर्गत मूल्यमापनाचा निकाल समाधानकारक न वाटल्यास त्यांना श्रेणी सुधार परीक्षे अंतर्गत दोन संधी देण्यात येणार आहेत.

विद्यार्थ्यांच्या निकालाचे नियमन करण्यासाठी शाळास्तरावर मुख्याध्यापकांच्या अध्यक्षतेखाली सात सदस्यांची निकाल समिती असेल, या निकालपत्रांच्या अभिलेखांची पडताळणी विभागीयस्तरावर शालेय शिक्षण विभागातील अधिकाऱ्यंकडून करण्यात येईल. शाळास्तरावर गैरप्रकार अथवा अभिलेख यामध्ये फेरफार झाल्यास शिस्तभंग व दंडात्मक कारवाई याची तरतूद करण्यात आली आहे. मंडळामार्फत जून २०२१ अखेर निकाल घोषित करण्याचे नियोजन आहे. त्याकरिता विद्यार्थ्यांची मूल्यमापन प्रक्रिया पूर्ण करण्यासाठी वेळापत्रक मंडळामार्फत लवकरच जाहीर करण्यात येईल. सर्व शाळांनी या वेळापत्रकाचे तंतोतंत पालन करावे.
Though the Government authorities have made use of masks and hand sanitisers mandatory to contain the spread of COVID-19, the quality and standard of both masks and hand sanitisers remain a big question. Entire market is flooded with a large number of brands of masks and hand sanitisers. It is very difficult for the controlling authorities like Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) to check and control the quality of hand sanitisers. The analytical reports from Central Drug Testing Laboratories and State Drug Control Laboratories month after month have raised a big question over the quality and standard of the sanitisers used.
Recent analytical report of 11 samples of hand sanitisers sent by State Drug Control and Central Drug Control Authorities revealed that they have failed the test. Out of these, four samples were declared as spurious while six samples as ‘Not of Standard’ quality and one sample as ‘misbranded’.
Here are some classic examples of how much period has been spent after sending the samples for analysis and getting analytical report for the same. A sample of one brand ‘Aarush Lavender Fragrance Hand Sanitizer-5ltr’ (Batch no DVVG2727; Mfg Lic Code GC/SM-FC01319RJ; mfg date 10-2020; Exp:10-2020) was sent by FDA officials for testing on December 2, 2020. The analytical report saying the sample ‘as spurious’ was sent to all divisions of FDA on May 12, 2021 with a note by Government analyst to destroy the sample. This means, it took almost 6 months for the Government analyst to declare the sample as spurious and by the time, entire stock of the sanitiser must have been sold in the market.
Another brand of hand sanitiser is ‘3A Handset Hand Rub Liquid’ (batch no HRL-04; MFG LIc No/Code NO KD/C 429; MG date 8-2020 exp. date best before 2 months). The sample was sent for analysis by FDA official on September 4, 2020. The Government analyst declared the sample as ‘spurious’ on May 20, 2021. This means a period of nine months required for Government machinery to declare the sample as spurious as the sample does not give identification test for the presence of Isopropyl Alcohol.
The sample of one ‘Purest Advanced Hand Sanitizer’ (Batch no G 58; Mg Lic No/Code No MP/25D/20/730 Mfg date 11-2020, exp. date:10-2023) was sent for analysis on January 14, 2021 and FAD received the analytical report of the said sample as ‘spurious’ on May 27, 2021 means after five and half months.
The Hitavada is in possession the analytical reports from Government analyst of all these 11 samples failed in analysis. In the COVID-19 lockdown, the markets are flooded with a large number of brands of hand sanitisers. Out of them a very few samples are being collected randomly by the officials. And there is no mechanism for a common man to know about the quality and standards of the hand sanitisers. Surprisingly, all hand sanitisers available in the market are claiming ‘Kills 99.9 percent Germs’ on label. The analytical reports have raised one question as: If these hand sanitisers are lacking in even basic ingredient of it, then what is the purpose of using it regularly? Similar shocking reports have been received from Central Drug Testing Laboratories across the country. CDSCO has sent drug alert report for April 2021.
According to the report, “CDSCO officials had sent 1572 samples of drugs to Central testing laboratories placed in different parts of the country. Out of which 1553 samples were declared of standard quality. 18 samples failed in analysis and out of them seven samples of hand sanitisers failed and declared as Not of Standard Quality.” Both the analytical reports of state as well as central drug testing laboratories have confirmed, “The manufactures have failed to follow the norms of production of hand sanitisers. The manufacturers have not followed the standards and guidelines given by WHO for the manufacture of hand sanitisers. WHO has recommended use of two types of alcohol in two types of formulations. A manufacturer can use Ethanol but that should be 80 % v/v or Isopropyl Alcohol 75% v/v. The hand sanitisers should not contain only alcohol but they should have glycerol 1.45% v/v, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) 0.125% v/v.
मुंबई : सरकारने घरगुती विमान प्रवासात दरवाढ करण्याचा निर्णय घेतला आहे. एविएशन मंत्रालयाने घरगुती विमान प्रवासाच्या तिकिटात 15 टक्के वाढ केली आहे. हा निर्णय 1 जूनपासून लागू होणार आहे. कोरोनाची दुसरी लाट संपूर्ण देशभरात पसरली आहे. असं असताना विमान मंत्रालयाने विमान प्रवासात कपात करण्याचा निर्णय घेतला आहे.
नागरीक उड्डाण मंत्र्यांनी प्रवासात दरवाढ करण्यास दिली मंजुरी
कोरोनाने पुन्हा डोके वर केले आहे. देशभरात कोरोनाची दुसरी लाट पसरली आहे. अशा परिस्थितीत विमान प्रवासावर नियंत्रण आलं आहे. असं असताना नागरीक उड्डाण मंत्रालयाने एअरलाइन्सच्या नेटवर्क कॅपेसिटीतही कपात केली आहे. अशा परिस्थितीत आता 1 जूनपासून दरवाढ होणार आहे.
हा बदल कमीत कमी विमान प्रवासावर केला आहे. डोमेस्टिक विमान प्रवास ‘ए’ ते ‘जी’ पर्यंत अशा सात श्रेणी असतात. या सातही श्रेणीत विमान प्रवास वाढला आहे. मिळालेल्या विमान प्रवासात ‘ए’ श्रेणीत कमीत कमी 2600 रुपये ते सर्वाधिक 7800 रुपये वाढणार आहे.
A 21-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide due to harassment by in-laws, following which, the latter procured a fake COVID-19 positive to evade autopsy in Beed district of Maharashtra, police said on Friday. A case has been registered against four members of the family, two of whom have been arrested, an official said.
Puja Ganesh Raikar, resident of Dhangar Javalka village of Patoda tehsil, allegedly consumed sanitiser on May 19 due to harassment by her husband and his family over dowry, the official said. The victim was admitted to a private hospital in Ahmednagar and was later taken to a hospital in Pune, where she died on Wednesday (May 26), he said.
The victim’s in-laws knew that an autopsy would reveal that she had consumed a poisonous substance and hence, decided to procure a fake COVID-19 positive report to cover up the cause of death, the official said. When the victim’s family refused to believe that she had died due to COVID-19, another test was done, the result of which came out negative, he said.
A case has been registered against the victim’s husband Ganesh Raikar, father-in-Law Shivaji, mother-in-Law Vijubai and Namdev Sukde, a relative, who helped get the fake report, the official said. While two of the accused have been arrested and two are absconding, he added.
The Department of Telecom (DoT) has allocated spectrum to telecom operators to start 5G trials in the country, sources said. The trials will be conducted at various locations including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Gujarat, Hyderabad, among others, according to industry sources. “Telecom operators have been allocated spectrum in 700 Mhz band, 3.3-3.6 gigahertz (Ghz) band and 24.25-28.5 Ghz band across various locations,” a telecom company official said.
On May 4, DoT had approved applications from Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea and MTNL for conducting 5G trials without using technologies from Chinese companies. DoT had approved trials of 5G with Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung and C-DOT. In addition, Reliance Jio Infocomm will be conducting trials using its own indigenous technology. According to DoT, 5G technology is expected to deliver ten times better download speed than that of 4G and up to three times greater spectrum efficiency. During the trials, application of 5G in Indian settings will get tested. This includes tele-medicine, tele-education and drone-based agriculture monitoring etc. Telecom operators will be able to test various 5G devices on their network.
The duration of the trials, at present, is for a period of 6 months. This includes a time period of 2 months for procurement and setting up of the equipment. The permission letters specify that each telecom service provider will have to conduct trials in rural and semi-urban settings in addition to urban settings so that the benefit of the 5G technology proliferates across the country and is not confined only to urban areas. Industry sources, however, said none of of the telecom operators has been allocated spectrum in Punjab, Haryana and union territory of Chandigarh.
Nagpur: Anxiety ran high among the people of Narendra Nagar, after some locals spotted a leopard in Gayatri Nagar, behind IT Park on Friday morning. Though, the leopard reportedly escaped the premises before squad or Narendra Nagar Police Station and officials of Forest Department rushed to the spot, cops have discovered footprints of the leopards, informed PI Thosre.
Speaking to Nagpur Today PI Thosre said, “Pratap Nagar Police Station received information regarding a leopard that was spotted at plot no 47/127 of Gayatri Nagar behind IT Park at around 10:30. Acting swiftly on the inputs, cops alerted Forest Department. The squad of Pratap Nagar cops and Forest Department then rushed to the spot. However, leopard escaped the premises, leaving footprints on the site,” the PI said.

There’s the conventional method of evaluation in schools and colleges where the teacher frames questions and the students answer them. Then came the open book exam that allowed students to refer to their notes, summaries as well as textbooks. And now that we are faced with unprecedented circumstances due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, educational institutions have devised new methods to make sure classes continue and exams are conducted. But the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Goa, has taken this up a notch and the internet can’t get tired of lauding their unique method to evaluate students.
A viral screenshot of their analogue circuit question paper shows that students were asked to prepare questions as well as answer them. The paper just mentioned that students were expected to prepare questions worth 60 marks from the lecture material and then answer the same.
“It should reflect your understanding of the course and must be answered in two hours,” read the first part of the instructions. Interestingly, this exercise carried 40 marks. In the second part, the students were asked to answer the questions they had prepared and that was worth 30 marks.
It also stated that the students should not to discuss this among themselves as the similarities would lead to a reduction in their marks.
This unique method to evaluate students then made it to Twitter where many appreciated the faculty member for designing the question paper this way and others dropped amused reactions.
A Twitter user, @RajanKarna, said: “Woah! What an examination! You prepare questions for yourself and answer the same. Gotta say IIT Goa has find out this unique way to evaluate students by themselves. It’s not gonna be easy when you are set free to choose questions to answer. Gonna be the test of integrity too.”

A mistake that should be avoided, or a solution that has the potential to be a game-changer in the Covid-19 fight, what is the truth about mixing two separate vaccines? There has been a hue and cry after health officials in UP said that a group of people were accidentally given a dose of Covishield followed by one of Covaxin. But the Centre has sought to soothe fears of adverse reactions in such cases. Experts worldwide have studied the scope of combining vaccines to see if that gives greater protection against infection, but the fact remains that unless you are in a trial, or there is an official nod to mixing vaccines, you should not go for combining separate doses for your two shots.
ISN’T IT UNSAFE TO TAKE TWO SEPARATE VACCINES?
The general consensus among experts is, no, there is theoretically no danger in mixing vaccine shots. But whether or not two separate vaccines can be mixed should only be determined after careful scientific study and trial. Lending clarity to the matter, Dr VK Paul, the Chair of NEGVAC (National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration for Covid-19), had said last week, “It is plausible. But there need to be more studies… One shot of one type produces antibodies and the second shot from another will increase that. Scientifically, there is no problem.”
But he stressed on the need for rigorous research to establish that two vaccines can indeed be mixed. “It can’t be said definitively that mixing of doses can be practised. There is no robust scientific evidence. Only time will tell whether it will be done in future or not, It will depend on international studies, World Health Organisation (WHO) findings, etc. Our experts are also continuously studying,” Paul had further explained.
After the ‘mix-up’ came to light in UP’s Siddharthnagar district earlier this week, Paul reiterated that “even if two doses of two different vaccines are given, this should not be a cause of concern”. He reiterated that “more scrutiny” is needed, but added that “any significant adverse effect is unlikely”.
WHAT HAVE STUDIES SAID ABOUT COMBINING VACCINE DOSES?
The chance of combining two separate vaccine doses holds its attractions at a time when governments across the world are struggling to resolve supply-chain bottlenecks to keep their vaccination drives running smoothly . For countries that have given emergency nods to multiple vaccines, it will give them the flexibility to continue inoculating their populations in a situation where one
vaccine runs out but another is available.
Which is the reason why trials are on around the world that are combining doses to see what impact mixing vaccines has on their efficacy in boosting the immune response, and whether there are any serious adverse effects that may crop up due to such a strategy.
One such trial, ongoing in the UK, that combined the Oxford-AstraZeneca shot with the one produced by Pfizer-BioNTech, found that the pairing seems to up the likelihood of mild to moderate side effects although no serious adverse outcomes were seen, the journal Lancet reported. The trial is studying four combinations of these two vaccines, two in which both shots are of the same vaccine while the other two have the two vaccines combined, but with their orders alternated: Oxford/AstraZeneca (which is being used in India under the name Covishield) + Pfizer/BioNTech, and Pfizer/BioNTech + Oxford/AstraZeneca.
On the whole, the two mixed doses were reported to have caused more side-effects. Feverishness was flagged by 34% of patients who got Oxford/AstraZeneca followed by Pfizer/BioNTech and 41% of those given Pfizer/BioNTech followed by Oxford/AstraZeneca. But only 10% of those who got two shots of the Oxford-AstraZeneca jab reported a similar symptom while the figure was 21% for those who received two Pfizer/BioNTech doses.
Though the adverse events were “short-lived and there were no other safety concerns”, similar observations were noted for chills, fatigue, headache, joint pain, malaise, and muscle ache following vaccination with two separate doses. However, the data on how effective the various combinations were in boosting immunity is still awaited.
One hint in though came from a study in Spain, which found that mixing the Oxford–AstraZeneca shot with the Pfizer–BioNTech one “produces a potent immune response against the virus”.
As part of this study, people who had received a first dose of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine were given the Pfizer-BioNTech shot after a gap of at least eight weeks. The participants who got the mixed dose were found to have produced much higher levels of antibodies than they had after the first shot.
IS ANY COUNTRY ALREADY GIVING MIXED DOSES?
As would be evident by now, mixing vaccines is not just a matter of putting the first two available into any recipient’s arm but of carefully studying adverse reactions and also the ultimate gains in immune response that such a combination imparts. Experts have pointed out that since the goal of all vaccines that have been cleared for use so far is to train the body’s immune system to recognise and attack the novel coronavirus‘ spike protein, which it uses to invade human cells, differences in the type of vaccine used can only matter so much.
In fact, exploring the scope for combining vaccines is also significant given that adverse events reported with some jabs, including with the Oxford-Zeneca one, can contribute to an unwillingness among people who received it for their first dose to show up for the second one.
Health officials in several countries have by now recommended mixing of doses. For example, Finland’s Institute of Health and Welfare has said that people under 65 who received a first dose of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine may get a different shot for their second dose while France’s top health advisory body has said that people under 55 who got a first shot of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine should receive a second dose of an mRNA vaccine, like the Pfizer or Moderna one, although the country has not done a trial for mixing the doses.
However, the UK has said that only in rare cases would it allow people to be given a different vaccine for a second dose, for example if the first vaccine was out of stock. As for the US, its public health watchdog is reported to have given the nod, only for “exceptional situations”, to mix the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines at a gap of at least 28 days.
In India, no trials have been held yet on combining the Covishield and Covaxin vaccines that are the two primary shots in the country’s vaccination drive. So, to go back to what experts here have said, it is open to trials to suggest how effective and safe it would be to mix vaccines. As has been stressed, without this data and a green light from health authorities, two different vaccines should not be combined.

He contacted her and said the person on the phone promised to give 5 injections of Remdesivir for Rs 32,400. The demanded amount was transferred by the complainant via UPI transaction.
After transfer of money the alleged person did not respond. After these directions a dedicated team of SI Sachin, D-6294, SI Priti, Ct Sachin, Ct Nitin under the supervision of SHO Defence Colony and overall supervision of Sh. Kulbir Singh, ACP Defence Colony was constituted and investigation was taken up after registration of the case.
During the course of investigation, Alleged Axis Bank Account details were collected; Technical details were obtained. Address was found. On May 24, a dedicated team consisting of SI Sachin, W/SI Preeti and Ct Sachin were sent to Old BJP Office, Barapatthar, Dist Seoni, Madhya Pradesh.
The team was briefed about the ramification of the case, how the person had cheated citizens under the stress of the Pandemic and directed to work in tandem on different aspects of the case.
The team after travelling approx. 1000 KM distance reached Seoni City, Madhya Pradesh and searched for the accused person.
Even after facing difficulty in finding the place they had to go, as there was no House No. or Street No., the team rigorously searched the address. All out efforts were made to nab the criminal.
The relentless efforts of the team yielded results and the location of the accused was traced with the help of technical surveillance. Immediately, on May 26, the team raided the house of accused Vartika Rai and successfully arrested her. At last hard work paid.

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday (May 27, 2021) said that the state government will extend the COVID-induced lockdown-like curbs in the state.
The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) issued a statement which said that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has stated necessary directives in this regard to the state administration during a cabinet meeting.
The authorities also added that the lockdown-like curbs in the state will be lifted in a phased manner later on.
The statement from the CMO also added that the Maharashtra Chief Minister believes that precautions are needed at the moment even though the positivity rate in the state is declining.
“In 10 to 15 districts, the positivity rate is still very high. Besides, there is the threat of black fungus infection (found in recovering/recovered coronavirus patients).
“Today the daily case count has reduced and reached the numbers recorded in September last year. We still need to take precautions,” Thackeray said.
The COVID-19 lockdown-like curbs will not be lifted altogether after June 1, he said.
“The curbs will be extended and relaxed after sometime in a phased manner,” the CM said.
The issue was discussed in detail in the cabinet meeting, the statement said.
Maharashtra is under lockdown-like curbs since mid-April. The authorities imposed stricter curbs in the state after it began reporting a tidal wave of COVID-19 infections every day.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra recorded 21,273 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday (May 27, 2021), taking the state’s infection tally to 56,72,180, while 425 more fatalities pushed the death toll to 92,225.

Bengaluru: Six persons, two of them women, have been arrested in Bengaluru in a case involving the rape and torture of a woman. A gut-wrenching video of the attack, which was circulated on social media, has generated immense outrage.
The video showed a woman being tortured by the accused. It even showed them inserting a bottle in her private parts. The 22-year-old was later allegedly gang raped.
The incident took place in Bengaluru almost six days ago.
“On the basis of the contents of the video clip and facts as disclosed during the interrogation of the accused persons, a case of rape, assault and other relevant provisions of the law, has been generated against the accused,” the Bengaluru police said in a statement.
“As per information revealed so far, all of them are part of the same group and believed to be from Bangladesh. Due to financial differences, the culprits brutalised the victim who is also said to be a Bangladeshi, brought to India for human trafficking,” the police added.
The Bengaluru police said the woman is currently in another state and a team has been sent to fetch her. Once she is back, her statement will be recorded before a magistrate.
The incident and the video generated outrage, especially in the northeast. After watching the video it was assumed that the survivor was from that part of the country and the Assam police had sought information about the accused.
