New York: Elon Musk on Friday added a severance payment made by Twitter to a whistleblower to the list of reasons he feels entitled to walk away from his $44 billion deal to buy the social media platform.
A termination letter sent to Twitter accused the firm of not informing him about a multi-million dollar severance payment it made in June to departing security chief Peiter Zatko, who went on to file a whistleblower complaint criticizing Twitter’s security practices, according to a copy of the letter filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Musk’s lawyers argued that failing to seek his consent before paying Zatko provides another legal basis to break the merger deal with Twitter he inked in April.
Twitter disagreed.
“My friend seems to be arguing that Twitter should have gratuitously told Musk that there existed a disgruntled former employee who made various allegations that had been inquired upon and found to be without merit,” Twitter attorney William Savitt said earlier this week.
“That doesn’t make any sense.”
Twitter did not respond to a request for comment on Friday.
Musk, the world’s richest man, said in his original termination letter that he was canceling the deal because he was misled by Twitter concerning the number of bot accounts on its platform, allegations rejected by the company.
In a mixed ruling earlier this week, Kathaleen McCormick, the chancellor of the Delaware court that is overseeing the case, said Musk could add whistleblowing revelations from Zatko that surfaced in August.
But she denied his request to push back the litigation, saying prolonging the suit “would risk further harm to Twitter too great to justify.”
Musk has been locked in a bitter legal battle with Twitter since announcing in July that he was pulling the plug on the purchase of the company following a complex, volatile, months-long courtship.
The five-day trial is due to go ahead beginning October 17 in the Delaware court.
4 people, including two kids, killed as car rams bike on Sakkardara Flyover in Nagpur

Nagpur: In a horrifying mishap, four people, including two children, were killed and four others sustained critical injuries after a car rammed into two motorcycles on Sakkardara Flyover in Nagpur on Friday night. In this accident, four people on the bike were thrown from a height of about 70 to 80 feet and died. Police said that the deceased, all members of the same family died on the spot after the car collided with their bike.
According to reports, an uncontrolled four-wheeler hit two two-wheelers on Sakkardara Flyover around 10:30 pm. The four riders on the bike were thrown off the flyover. They all died on the spot while the four others injured have been admitted to GMCH here. The dead include a man, a woman and two children. Four persons riding on the second two-wheeler, which was hit by the speeding four-wheeler, were seriously injured.
Police sources said that the driver of the car Ganesh Adhaav has been arrested adding that he was going to Buttibori in a friend’s car. They further revealed that since there was very little traffic on the flyover at that time, Adhaav was driving the car at very high speeds in the opposite direction of the incoming traffic. He lost control and collided with three vehicles including the bike.
Police sources further said that the impact was so severe that all the four passengers on the bike were flung from the flyover adding that one man with his two children and mother were on the bike. Upon being informed about the incident Sakkardara police reached the spot and started investigation.
Honey Singh and Shalini Talwar divorced, Singer paid a whopping amount in Alimony
One of the most famous singers, Honey Singh’s wife Shalini Talwar had filed for divorce in Delhi’s Tis Hazari Court. If reports are to be believed, Shalini had demanded Rs 10 crore alimony for divorce from Honey Singh. But now a settlement has been reached between the two on Rs 1 crore. Honey Singh and Shalini are now officially divorced. Honey Singh handed over a check of Rs 1 crore as alimony to Shalini Talwar in a sealed envelope on Thursday.
Honey Singh’s wife Shalini filed a petition in Delhi’s Tis Hazari Court on August 3, alleging domestic violence against Yo Yo Honey Singh. He had alleged that Hirdesh Singh’s alias Honey Singh assaulted him. His wife also claimed that Honey Singh was in a physical relationship with other women.
After this Honey Singh took to social media and wrote, “I am deeply pained and distressed by the false and malicious allegations levied against we and my family by any companion/wife of 20 years, Mrs. Shalini Talwar. The allegations are severely odious. I have never issued a public statement or press note in the past despite being subjected to harsh criticism for my lyrics, speculation on my health, & negative media coverage in general. However, I see no merit in maintaining a studied silence this time because some of the allegations have been directed at my family — my old parents and younger sister — who have stood by me during some very difficult and trying times and comprise my world. The allegations are cynical and defaming in nature.”
Metro service now from 6.15 am to 10 pm | Our Nagpur
Following continuous demands from citizens especially school, and college students Maha Metro Nagpur has increased the timing to 6:15 am to 10 pm.
Maha Metro has also increased the number of trains running on Orange Line (Kasturchand Park Station to Khapri Metro Station) and Aqua Line (Sitabuldi Interchange to Lokmanya Nagar Metro Station).
From September 12 metro on Orange and Aqua line and the passenger service under this will start from 6.15 am from all four Khapri, Kasturchand Park, Sitabuldi Interchange, Lokmanya Nagar stations.
The first train of the day will be at 6.15 am and as per the revised schedule, the last metro train will be available from the terminal station on both these routes at 10 pm.

India to observe one-day state mourning on Sunday in respect of Queen Elizabeth
To pay their respect to Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II who passed away on Thursday the Indian government on Friday announced one day of state mourning on September 11.
A statement issued by the ministry of home affairs reads, “Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland passed away on 8th September 2022. As a mark of respect to the departed dignitary, the Government of India has decided that there will be one day State Mourning on September 11th throughout India”.
On the day of Mourning, the National Flag will be flown at half mast throughout India on all buildings where the National Flag is flown regularly and there will be no official entertainment on the day.
The 96-year-old queen died “peacefully” on Thursday after a year-long period of ill-health and decline, at the culmination of a record-breaking reign of 70 years.

After Krushna Abhishek, Chandan Prabhakar, who has played several funny characters on The Kapil Sharma Show, has confirmed that he won’t return to the new season.
As the all-new season is making a comeback this is a shock to the fans.
In the latest interview with a leading entertainment website, Chandan was asked if he’d reprising his characters in the new season, he said, “I will not be a part of this season of The Kapil Sharma Show and there is no specific reason. I just wanted to take a break.”
The two have worked together for several years and Chandan has always been very close to Kapil.
Apart from Chandan, Bharti Singh will also not be a part of the new season regularly. She is on a short break and doing Sa Re Ga Ma Pa (Li’l Champs 9) too. Earlier, Krushna Abhishek had confirmed his exit from the new season. Krushna reportedly decided to quit The Kapil Sharma Show over pay dispute, but it was speculated that all was not well between Kapil Sharma and Krushna.

Queen Elizabeth II has died at the age of 96, Buckingham Palace has announced. Her reign lasted 70 years, making her the longest-serving British monarch and female head of state in history.
The Queen’s doctors placed her under “medical supervision” at her residence in Balmoral Castle in Scotland, on Thursday, after becoming concerned with her health.
Born Elizabeth Alexandra Mary in 1926, she ascended to the throne in 1952, at the age of 25, after the death of her father, King George VI.
She was born in Mayfair, central London, to the Duke and Duchess of York (later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth). Elizabeth became second in line to the throne in 1936 after the death of her grandfather, King George V, and the abdication of her uncle, King Edward VIII that same year.
The future queen was only 13 at the outbreak of the Second World War and was evacuated from the capital. In 1945, aged 18, she enlisted in the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS), the women’s branch of the British Army during the war, and served until the end of the conflict.
In 1947, she married Philip Mountbatten, a former prince of Greece and Denmark. The Queen and her husband Prince Philip, who died at the age of 99 in April 2021, are survived by four children: Charles, Prince of Wales, Anne, Princess Royal, Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex. They had eight grandchildren.

Elections to 1,166 gram panchayats to be held on Oct 13
Elections to 1,166 gram panchayats in 82 tehsils from 18 districts in Maharashtra would be held on October 13 to elect members to Sarpanchs. The code of conduct has been imposed at the tehsils concerned. The counting of voters would be done on October 14, announced UPS Madan, State Election Commissioner, on Wednesday.
Madan informed that the the Tehsildars concerned will publish election notice on September 13 while aspiring candidates will file nomination papers from September 21 to 27, excluding September 24 and 25 being holidays. The scrutiny of papers would be done on September 28 while the last date for withdrawal of nominations is September 30 upto 3 pm. The election symbols would also be allotted on the same day, he pointed out.
The polling would be held on October 13 from 7.30 am to 5.30 pm. The timing for polling in Naxal-infested areas would be upto 3 pm. The elections will be held in Vidarbha at 1 gram panchayat in Chikhaldara in Amravati district, 1 gram panchayat in Washim tehsil in Washim district, 3 gram panchayats in Ramtek tehsil, 6 in Bhiwapur, 8 in Kuhi tehsil in Nagpur district, 2 in Wardha tehsil, 7 in Arvi in Wardha district, 2 in Bhadravati, 4 in Chimur, 3 in Mul, 29 in Jivati, 25 in Koparna, 30 in Rajura, 1 in Brahmapuri in Chandrapur district, 1 in Tumsar, 16 in Bhandara tehsil, 2 in Paoni, 1 in Sakoli in Bhandara district, 1 in Deori, 1 in Goregaon, 1 in Gondia tehsil, 1 in Sadak-Arjuni, 2 in Arjuni-Mor in Gondia district, 2 in Chamorshi, 2 in Aheri, 6 in Dhanora, 4 in Bhamragad, 2 in Desaiganj, 2 in Etapalli and 1 in Gadchiroli tehsil of Gadchiroli district. Bajrang Dal activist said Ranbir Kapoor made derogatory comments on ‘gau mata’ as he has said beef eating was good. “We won’t allow them to enter the Mahakal temple. We were only showing black flags, but police charged at us,” he said.
A ruckus broke out on Tuesday as Bajrang Dal activists stopped Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt from entering the Mahakal temple in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain citing Ranbir Kapoor’s past comment on beef-eating. Videos of police cane charging the protesters went viral while Ujjain CSP Om Prakash Mishra said the protesters started fighting with police officers. “We were making arrangements as some VIPs were about to visit Mahakaleshwar temple. During which some people started gathering here to protest against them. One of the protestors started fighting with police officers,” Mishra.
Police said they have taken action under section 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) of the Indian Penal Code against a right-wing activist.

With a view to promoting eco-friendly immersion of Ganesh idols, Nagpur Municipal Corporation has made available a web link for providing a facility to the citizens to know information about various artificial tanks prepared for immersion in ten zones in the city.
The citizens can visit the web link: https://www.nmcnagpur.gov.in//visarjan- location to know the immersion places nearer to their homes, said Radhakrishnan B, Municipal Commissioner and Administrator of NMC, on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, NMC has created 390 artificial tanks at 204 different places in the city covering all the ten zones. It has created artificial tanks at various squares and grounds for immersion of Ganesh idols below four feet in height. It has also made arrangement for iron tanks at Futala, Sonegaon, Gandhisagar, Sakkardara and other lakes for immersion of idols as well as placed big urns to collect pooja waste materials. NMC workers and volunteers will collect such materials that would be used for producing fertilizer. Moreover, the corporation has put up barricades near the lakes and installing highmast lights at the immersion places.

When Mukul Ahuja, her brother, is implicated, the narrative takes a turn.
Beloved by children and a household name, Zara (Deshna Dugad), is found brutally murdered in an abandoned place. As the Ahujas manoeuvre an emotional roller coaster, the police investigation and all the evidence points to her step-brother, Mukul (Aaditya Gupta), the last person to see her. Grief and rage tear the family apart, and the pressure to find the culprit mounts on the police and the public prosecutor from the media and Zara’s fans. Mukul’s history of being derelict makes his own parents, Avantika (Swastika Mukherjee) and Neeraj (Purab Kohli) doubt his innocence. As the further investigation leads to Mukul being considered the prime suspect, he is reprimanded in a juvenile home. Distraught and in urgent need of a lawyer, Gauri (Kalyanee Mulay) recommends Madhav Mishra (Pankaj Tripathi).
As the case proceeds further it gets even more complicated with revelations of Mukul’s hatred towards her step-sister Zara, him being treated for addiction and more over Neeraj being confident about Mukul being the killer. What will Madhav Mishra do to uncover the truth?
Indian cricketer KL Rahul and Bollywood actress Athiya Shetty are in a healthy relationship and the couple is reported to take a big step in their relationship.
The couple is expected to tie a knot by the end of this year or in the first week of January next year. They might hold the ceremony at Athiya’s father Suniel Shetty’s bungalow in Khandala.
People close to the couple have revealed that the two will tie the knot in the presence of their loved ones. Notably, Suniel Shetty had also recently confirmed that the couple will take the next step in their relationship as soon as they are free. The Khandala home is very close to Suniel Shetty’s heart. The actor’s house stands amidst plush greenery while the interiors are also decorated with plants.
The magisterial custody of Shiv Sena leader and MP Sanjay Raut has been extended up to September 19. Raut was arrested on July 31 in connection with the Patra Chawl corruption case in Mumbai.
The PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) court extended his custody for further enquiry into the case. . The Enforcement Directorate wanted extension of his custody as enquiry was not complete. Raut was granted eight-day ED custody and then magisterial custody. A journalist, who was editor of Shiv Sena mouthpiece ‘Samna’ is in jail for the last 35 days. Surprisingly he has not applied for bail so far.
