Mumbai: JLR India today reported its best-ever Q1 sales performance with a growth of 102%, retailing a total of 1048 units, in the first quarter of FY24 compared to the same period last year. The three models continue to see sustained demand, contributing 78% of the current order book.

Man Defies Odds After Severe Bike Accident-miraculous Recovery at SMHRC

New Healthcare Milestone: Shalinitai Meghe Hospital Now ESIS-Approved for Industrial Workers Enhancing Healthcare Access for Industrial Workers

In an incident on March 31, 2023, a 38-year-old male was involved in a serious road traffic accident (RTA) when his bike skidded near Tirora Road in Gondia. The victim suffered multiple injuries, including a necrotic wound on the abdominal wall measuring approximately 20x22cm. He initially received primary treatment at a private hospital in Gondia, where he underwent surgeries for fractures in both lower limbs, mandible, and left wrist. Due to the severity of the abdominal wall necrosis and necrosis in his right leg, the patient was transferred to a private hospital in Nagpur where he was not improving.

Emergency debridement of the necrotic tissue with fasciotomy was carried and the procedure went smoothly. The patient underwent multiple debridement of the wound with dressings. Subsequently, the patient’s general condition improved, leading to a transfer from the ICU to a general ward for ongoing care. Regular dressing was performed, and the patient received physiotherapy and a high-protein diet for better nutrition. On Day 13, upper and lower arch bar removal was performed after consultation with the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon (OMFS).

Highlighting this successful recovery Dr. Rajiv Sonarkar, Professor of Surgery, SMHRC stated that the patient subsequently underwent split-thickness skin grafting (STSG). The procedure was successful. The patient’s general condition improved, and he was able to mobilize out of bed. He got stable hemodynamically, he was discharged from the hospital with advice for follow-up. Despite the seriousness of the motorcycle accident and the subsequent injuries, the patient made significant progress through intensive treatment and timely multiple surgical interventions at SMHRC.

Mumbai: HDFC Bank, India’s leading private sector bank, today announced the launch of a UPI QR code interoperable with India’s sovereign digital currency, Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC). With this, HDFC Bank becomes one of the first banks in the country to complete the integration process. The interoperable UPI QR code allows HDFC Bank merchants who have been onboarded on the bank’s CBDC platform, to accept payments from their customers in the form of Digital Rupee currency, boosting usage of CBDC in day-to-day transactions.

The initiative is an extension to the CBDC pilot launched by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), last year. CBDC or Digital Rupee is a tokenised digital version of the Indian Rupee, issued by the RBI as a Central Bank Digital Currency.

An interoperable QR code enables a basic QR payment acceptance terminal to support Scan & Pay feature from various factors & payment options. It provides freedom to accept payments using the same QR from various form factors.

Key benefits of the UPI QR Code interoperable with CBDC:

For Consumers:

  • Transact money available in their CBDC wallet across the UPI QR code
  • No need to scan different QR codes at the same merchant

For Merchants:

  • Only need to display one QR code at the storefront or through the acquiring bank’s mobile application
  • No need for merchants to change their existing QR codes

Upon arrival at SMHRC & DBASI hospital, the patient was found to be heavily reliant on inotropic support and exhibited an extremely poor Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score. To ensure the patient’s airway protection, he was intubated and placed on a ventilator. The medical team promptly initiated a treatment plan consisting of higher antibiotic administration and other supportive measures. Following approximately one week on the ventilator, the patient’s condition gradually improved, enabling the medical team to successfully wean them off the ventilator. Subsequently, the patient’s condition stabilized after spending approximately 12 days in the ICU.

In response to the patient’s improvement, Dr. Neha Goenka Agrawal, in charge of the Critical Care Division, SMHRC & DBASI expressed that the dedication of the ICU team and the total faith of relatives played a significant role. 1. How are you celebrating your birthday this year?

On my birthday, I prefer the company of loved ones and indulging in tasty food. What better way to celebrate being a food lover than by enjoying the finest culinary treats? I have given my wife a list of dishes I want, and she’s excited to fulfill my gastronomic wishes. Afterward, we will visit a nearby mall where the kids can have fun in the game zone, returning memories of my childhood. Finally, we will gather with a few close friends at our favorite restaurant for the celebration.

2. What are your plans with your on-screen family of Happu Ki Ultan Paltan?

My on-screen family feels like an extended family to me. We have been together for four years, and the celebration would not be complete without them. Surprisingly, I don’t have to organize anything for them because they take the initiative to plan and surprise me every year. Whether it’s my co-stars or the crew, everyone has consistently made me feel extraordinary on my birthdays. Since I will be shooting this year, I eagerly await to witness how the day unfolds on their sets and how they create lasting memories to make this birthday unforgettable.

3. What led you to choose acting as your career?

My passion for acting has been with me from a young age. During my school breaks, I discovered my true calling when watching movies with my mother for countless hours. The realization struck me, and I knew deep down that pursuing a career in acting was my ultimate desire. This led me to venture to Lucknow, where I immersed myself in theatre and street performances, such as Nukad Natak, for several years. It was there that my journey as an actor began to take shape.

  1. How do you personally define success as an artist?

As artists, we aim to engage and leave a lasting impression on our audiences. When we receive applause in response, we know we have achieved success. I realized this when my portrayal of Daroga Happu Singh gained immense popularity. Currently, he is the only character in the television industry appearing simultaneously in two shows. This accomplishment as an artist is truly significant and fills me with pride.

2. What aspect of acting brings you the most enjoyment?

Bringing smiles to my audience is my greatest joy. It’s not just about silly faces, expressions, or jokes. It’s about crafting relatable moments and dialogues that resonate deeply. Our show, Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, has accomplished this wonderfully. Each character’s unique personality and catchphrases have connected beautifully with the audience, providing endless entertainment. We feel incredibly fortunate to have been a conduit for spreading immense joy and laughter in the lives of our viewers.

3. Which role in your career has been your favorite so far?

It undoubtedly is the character of Daroga Happu Singh! The role has given me the priceless gifts of recognition, wealth, and the unwavering adoration and encouragement of the audience, fulfilling every artist’s deepest aspiration. I am fortunate to have this opportunity, and I will strive to maintain my utmost efforts in captivating and entertaining my viewers.

4. Any challenges you come across with a highly popular character?

Although comedy in acting may appear effortless, creating an unforgettable character like Daroga Happu Singh involves numerous factors. Portraying comedy on-screen is always challenging, particularly when maintaining perfect comedic timing amidst retakes. Humor can only be partially mastered, but we strive to reach our best as artists. Additionally, shooting for extended hours while wearing prosthetics and a mustache can be challenging, but I have grown accustomed to them. I love preparing for my role, getting ready in hair and makeup, and eagerly waiting for the director to say, “Action!“.

5. Did you ever think the cameo in the show would get you this long?

I was thrilled to be chosen for a cameo in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai. Working alongside talented actors I admired on TV was an incredible feeling. Little did I know that this role would become a defining moment in my life and give me so much fame. It was pure luck that I landed the role of Daroga Happu Singh, and I am grateful that it came my way. The audience immediately resonated with the character. It struck an instant chord with them, capturing their attention through Happu’s impeccable comic timing, fun catchphrases, and distinctive potbellied appearance.

Nagpur: Aortic valve of a 67-year-old patient had failed and this was developing cardiac complications. Open heart surgery was the option before him to replace the valve. However, now all state-of-the-art medical facilities are available in Nagpur too, ‘Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement‘ (TAVI) is an option to replace the valve without surgery. At Wockhardt Hospitals  Internationally renowned cardiologist Dr. Anmol Sonawane completed this process on the patient.  Dr. Anmol Sonawane was assisted by cardiologists Dr. Nitin Tiwari, Dr. Amey Beedkar, Cardiovascular Surgeon Dr. Sumit Pathak, and Anesthetist Dr. Pankaj’s team.

Open heart surgery was a risk for the patient, as the patient had comorbidities like hypertension and kidney problems. In such cases ‘Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement‘ is the only option. If the aortic valve fails, the patient’s quality of life may be less than that of cancer patients, and the risk of sudden cardiac arrest increases. The patient also took a decision to undergo a valve replacement procedure without delay. Now the condition of the patient is good and the blood supply is normal.

In Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement, just like angiography and angioplasty, a tube (catheter) is passed from the arm through a blood vessel to the heart. With the help of a pacemaker, the heart beats are increased up to 250 beats per minute. Once the heart is stabilized, a valve is opened in the heart, guided by an artificial catheter. Once the patient stabilizes over time, the catheter is removed. What is special about this is that the patient does not need anesthesia to perform this surgery. This procedure can be done while the patient is conscious. There is no risk of bleeding as there is no need to make an incision. The patient is discharged from the hospital in three-four days.

For patients who are at risk of open heart surgery, this treatment is effective. News Bulletin Government Endorses SMHRC for RBSK Scheme Free Surgeries for Children Upto 18 Years of Age

The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, under the National Health Mission launched the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), an innovative and ambitious initiative, which envisages Child Health Screening and Early Intervention Services, a systemic approach of early identification and link to care, support and treatment. Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) is one of its kind programs to improve the overall quality of life of children enabling all children achieve their full potential and also provide comprehensive care to all the children in the community. This program involves screening of children from birth to 18 years of age for 4 Ds- Defects at birth, Diseases, Deficiencies and Development delays, spanning 32 common health conditions for early detection and free treatment and management, including surgeries at tertiary level. Children diagnosed with identified selected health conditions are provided early intervention services and follow-up care at the district level. These services are provided free of cost, thus helping their families reduce out of pocket expenditure incurred on the treatment.

In a ground-breaking move towards accessible healthcare, SMHRC has been approved under RBSK (Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram) scheme, aiming to transform the lives of children in our community. SMHRC Hospital, renowned for its state-of-the-art facilities and highly qualified healthcare professionals, has been selected as the primary provider for this life-changing program.

Nagpur: DP World, a leading provider of worldwide smart end-to-end supply chain solutions, in continuation of its commitment to the environment and wildlife protection, has provided thermal drones for the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra, India. In addition, forest field staff will receive on-site training and support for operating the drones for a year.

The Tadoba National Park is the oldest and largest national park in the state of Maharashtra. The Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve harbors at least 80 tigers, and there are over 200 tigers in the larger landscape. The reserve is a dry deciduous tropical forest ecosystem, which makes it prone to forest fires and therefore necessitates timely detection of fire hazards.

The drones funded by DP World are Mavic 3 Enterprise Series drones by DGI, which are equipped with a thermal imaging camera, a mechanical shutter, a 56× zoom camera, and RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) module for centimeter-level precision, enhancing the mapping and mission efficiency during surveillance.

The drones will support the collection of data from inaccessible landscapes, measure water body levels, and help in the creation of maps which will enhance biodiversity documentation. Furthermore, the thermal imaging capabilities of the drones will enable the forest field staff to detect signs of ground fires early on, enhance rescue and wildlife tracking capability, reduce forest offenses, and ensure the safety of forest field staff and the local community.

Speaking on this initiative, Mr. Kevin D’Souza, Vice President, Commercial & Business Development, DP World Subcontinent said, “DP World is committed to the cause of the protection of the environment, conservation of wildlife and supporting those involved in forest and wildlife protection. The data collected by drones can be used to take well-planned precautionary steps directly protecting forests and wildlife. Drones can help in safeguarding the lives of forest field staff and the local community who live on the fringe areas of the forest”.

Dr. Jitendra Ramgaokar, IFS Field Director, TATR and Executive Director TATR Conservation Foundation, said, “We would like to thank DP World for providing the thermal drones. Monitoring the reserve, particularly the fringe sections with human habitations, becomes difficult at night. This further creates problems in managing man-animal conflict situations and tracking animals. The advanced technology of drones will better equip our rescue and rapid response teams and our field staff in general, to help us protect the endangered species in the forest and help us prevent illicit acts in and around the forest area.”

DP World is part of an industry task force led by “United for Wildlife”, which partners with key stakeholders to tackle unlawful wildlife trade. DP World has also signed 11 commitments, including stopping the transportation and trade of illegal wildlife products.

70 Year Old Female With Rare Disease Treated Successfully

Nagpur: Wockhardt Hospitals Nagpur is a leading healthcare provider with a tradition of care and innovation that makes this hospital a boon for patients in Central India. Wockhardt Hospitals Nagpur, which handles critical patients, now has a standalone cancer center headed by Dr. Ramakant Tayade, senior Oncosurgeon, who successfully treated yet another critical and diagnostically challenging case of a 70-year female patient,  presented with c/o occasional pain in the abdomen, altered bowel movement, loss of appetite and anemia.

 The 70-year-old female patient came to Wockhardt Hospital with severe anemic conditions.  She was being investigated and treated for anemia for the last two months elsewhere and had received multiple blood transfusions. But in spite of that her hemoglobin levels were not up to the mark.  Her outside CT Scan was done which suggested a small bowel mass. Inflammatory. Hence she was advised of a costly investigation of Enteroscopy at Hyderabad.

But as the patient was not in a position to spend money on such costly treatment, they approached Dr. Ramakant Tayade said Dr. Tayade. Then they discussed the problem with Dr. Tayade and they were asked to come to Nagpur for investigation. She is a treated case of Leiomyosarcoma right hand a malignant form of soft tissue tumor in the past. She was thoroughly investigated at Wockhardt Hospitals Nagpur for anemia, as a team by Dr. Tayade himself, Hematologist, Gastroenterologist, and a Physician.

After thorough investigations, Dr. Tayade came to the conclusion that the reason for her anemia is blood loss through small intestines. As the patient was poor and couldn’t afford the costly investigation I.e. Enteroscopy, Dr. Tayade did diagnostic Laparoscopy and found out that there is a mass in the small intestine which is causing intestinal obstruction and the probable cause of anemia.  Surgery was done and that part of the small intestine was removed. The patient recovered well from surgery and was discharged in stable condition.

THE CASE WAS ALSO UNIQUE IN THE SENSE THAT SHE IS CASE OF RARE condition Situs inversus, a rare condition where all the organs of the body exchange their position and also **the osteopath of the resected specimen is a very rare occurrence.

 We at Wockhardt, provided this patient with diagnosis and treatment at a very affordable cost which was very high risk for surgery, which was the happiest moment for all of us.
