Nagpur : NCP stages demonstrations in front of OCW office in nagpur

Nagpur : Nationalist Congres Party City Unit President Anil Ahirkar and MLC Prakash Gajbhiye led demonstrations in front of OCW office, alleging inaction on the part of OCW and Nagpur Municipal Corporation, resulting in water scarcity. The party leaders then submitted a memorandum to the Municipal Commisioner Abhijit Bangar and discussed issues pertaining to water scarcity and failure of NMC in planning water supply to the city.

With water scarcity in the city water tanker mafia have become active again. Even after seven years of handing over water supply responsibility to OCW and announcement of 24 X 7 water supply, the system has not become operational. On the other hand the residents are facing problem in getting adequate water. They are being issued hefty water bills even with reduced water supply.

The water bodies in the city remained neglected and are polluted posing health problems. The leakages in drainage system is contaminating water in wells and the NMC has not seriously enforced roof top rain water harvesting programme for huge buildings, the party leaders alleged. They demanded enquiry into the negligence and punishing those responsible for the situation. They also demanded immediate steps to clean the wells and other water bodies. Ex-MLA Deenanath Padole, Dilip Pankule, Dhanraj Fusey, Bajrang Sinh Pariwar, Vedprakash Arya, janba Maske, Charanjit Sinh Chaudhari, Shrikant Shivankar, Vishal Khandekar, Milind Manapure, and other workers were present.
