Man thrashes elderly mother to death over petty issue

Nagpur : In a shocking incident, a man thrashed his elderly mother to death over a petty issue on Saturday evening. The strange incident took place in Somalwada under jurisdiction of Sonegaon Police Station.

According to police, Milind Sadashiv Hinge (45), a mechanic, was living with his elderly parents at Mahatma Phule slums near Samruddhi Buddha Vihar in Somalwada. A drunkard, Milind was deserted by his wife and his son (7) two years ago. On Saturday evening, Milind reached home and asked his mother Mamta Hinge (60) to cook a vegetable dish of brinjal. Mamta refused to cook the dish as she was tired. Soon an altercation ensued between the mother-son duo. In a fit of rage, Milind started thrashing Mamta ruthlessly.

Suddenly, he picked up a roof tile and hit it on her head injuring her seriously. Neighbours rushed to rescue of injured Mamta and took her to Government Medical College and Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment. A few neighbours informed police and did not let Milind flee.

“Milind was not drunk when the incident took place. His father Sadashiv, who worked as a security guard, was on duty,” PSI R N Shejav, the Registering officer, informed. Sonegaon police arrested Milind Hinge after registering an offence under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code against him.
