India vs England: KL Rahul slams 5th Test hundred at the Oval

Date:

KL Rahul slammed his 5th Test hundred at the Oval in the final fifth Test match between India and England. The right-hand opener who came under the scanner for his woeful form in the first four games buried down the doubters with a magnificent hundred on the fifth day of the Oval Test. However, he might need to do more than that to ensure India are able to save the contest chasing a might 464.

India were off to a shaky start on day four of the match with the top order once again failing to deliver. Shikhar Dhawan was the first batsman to be dismissed as he was removed cheaply on 1 by James Anderson who then went on to scalp Cheteshwar Pujara’s wicket in the same over to reduce India to 1-2 in only the third over of the innings. Indian captain Virat Kohli, who has been in terrific form in the series so far also had an off day and was dismissed on a duck by Broad.

However, Rahul held the crease strong and brought up his hundred in style with a boundary in the 41st over of the match. He carved a boundary off the delivery from Stokes to celebrate as a much-relieved man after how the whole series has panned out for him. His century was laced with 17 boundaries and a brilliant six.
