IMD Forecasts Widespread Rain In Vidarbha Within The Next 5 Days

Nagpur: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted on Sunday that a significant amount of rainfall is likely to take place in Vidarbha in the coming 5 days. Nagpur is expected to experience moderate to light rains from June 27-29.

Due to East-West trough over North India and moist winds from Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea over northern parts of the country in lower tropospheric levels causing fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with thunderstorm, lightning and isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh,Vidarbha during June 26 and 30, claimed the weather department.

Based on the information provided by IMD The normal rainfall in Vidarbha in this month is 10.5 millimeters, but the actual amount the actual rainfall was 3.5 millimeters, which is a an deficit of 67. Nagpur has also been experiencing a rain deficits in June. But, the weather department is forecasting a the monsoon to pick up late in Nagpur. The department expects the torrential rains will start in the second half of July, and will likely continue until mid November.

In the past 3-4 days, very light monsoon activity was observed throughout Vidarbha. Because of the less rainfall, the humidity levels have increased. Over the last 24-hour period, Buldhana (2 mm), Bramhapuri (24 mm), Gadchiroli (1 mm), Gondia (1.2 mm) and Wardha (10 mm) reported light rain, whereas the rest of the places were dry. While the less monsoon-related activity was observed in Vidarbha over the past few days, the highest temperature throughout Vidarbha was down by 1 or 2 degrees on Sunday, whereas the minimum temperature rose all across Vidarbha. Akola was the one to record the highest minimum and maximum temperatures on Sunday.
