Nagpur: ProHealth Foundation is holding a multisport event. And the fitness freaks of the city are all set to give Nagpur Duathlon a good response as they gear up to test their limits while running and cycling in a single event at the Nagpur University ground on Sunday.
With over 200 participants already registered for Nagpur Duathlon and just a day left for the spot entries, the organisers feel that the response is very good and the competition too will be healthy in all the three categories.
A duathlon is an endurance challenge where a participant has to run first, then cycle and again run to complete the challenge. The duathlon that is being organized in two age categories — below and above 18 years — will have three events including the Olympic distance, fun and sprint duathlon. There will be individual as well as team events too.
The event that is the brainchild of Amit Samarth, who has been bringing laurels to the city with his accomplishments in international cycling and Ironman events, said, “We have received a very positive response this year and the number of entries too are more as compared to last year. We have participants fro Nagpur Duathlon from Wardha, Jabalpur and Akola too.”

To give another chance to any interesting participant, the organisers will keep a counter for spot registrations that will be functional from 2pm to 7pm on Saturday at the Nagpur University ground.
“People should participate in Nagpur Duathlon and experience events where various sports are involved, then only they will understand how much training is needed to excel in multisports. One should also encourage children to participate,” Samarth added.
Over 45 participants have confirmed their entries in the Olympic duathlon while 70 athletes will be seen in action in the sprint and over 100 children have registered themselves for the fun event, informed Samarth, who is expecting 50 more entries on Saturday.
The event that will begin at the Nagpur University ground at 6am on Sunday is expected to conclude by 9.30am.
