Nagpur : Union Minister for Road Transport and Shipping Nitin Gadkari recently launched ‘India for Ethanol- a web portal’ to create awareness. Union Minister Gadkari while launching this web portal said, Brazil and European Countries are manufacturing flex engine to mix 10 to 100 percent ethanol to reduce dependency of petrol and diesel. He said, presently, we are mixing 10 percent ethanol in the fuel but we may increase it upto 30 percent to save around Rs seven lakh crore of the tax-payers spent every year on importing crude oil..
The web portal gave information about manufacturing of ethanol by using agriculture feedstock, and common crops such as hemp, sugarcane, potato, cassava, corn and others. This will change the economy of the distress farmers as their agriculture produce can be used for manufacturing of ethanol. Dr Hemant Jambhekar has conducted research work in manufacturing of ethanol. Ajeet Parse, convenor of India for Ethanol portal said, presently, youths are using social media effectively.
They can join hand with Gadkari’s movement to promote use of ethanol in petrol and diesel to save hard earned money of the tax payers. He has demanded to open a research centre at Nagpur for further research in this sector. The web portal will give all the information related to bio-fuel. This will also useful in creating employment for youths as well as help farmers to make them financially sound. This is a Hindi web portal and very soon it will be launched in all the regional languages, Parse added.
