Nagpur : Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister for Road Transport and Shipping Nitin Gadkari will jointly launch India’s first Safe and Smart City Project in a function to be held on February 2 at 4 pm at Y-Point, Bhartwada, Pardi in East Nagpur.
Both the leaders will also name City Operation Centre after former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee. They will also perform bhoomipujan for Project Tendersure, Project Home Sweet Home and Amrut Abhiyan in same function.
Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule and Mayor Nanda Jichkar will be the guests in the function. The event is jointly organised by Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), Information and Technology Corporation Limited and Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Limited (NSSCDCL).
Recently, State Government has sanctioned Town Planning Scheme (TPS) to develop four major backward areas- Pardi-Punapur-Bharatwada-Bhandewadi of East Nagpur. The ‘smart’ city will have its special Development Control Rules (DCR) for the development.
The civic body has decided to implement the scheme by land pooling method. The ABD approach is expected to improve the lives of 1,13,000 persons of 25,000 families in East Nagpur areas. They will get good roads, water supply, covered sewerage lines, street lights, schools, hospitals, gardens, and recreational facilities.
