Nagpur: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has completed preparations for Covid vaccination. The drive would begin on January 16. In the first phase, the vaccine will be administered to healthcare workers at eight centres.
The vaccine would be given to only those healthcare workers who have registered themselves on CoWin app. During a meeting the Nagpur Municipal Commissioner, Radhakrishanan B reviewed the vaccination programme and asked to complete the vaccination process in the scheduled time.
Additional Commissioner Ram Joshi said that in the first phase registered health employees of the NMC will be given vaccines. For this, eight Covid centres have been prepared — Sadar diagnostic centre, Mahal diagnostic centre, Pachpaoli maternity centre, KT Nagar Primary Health Centre, Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Mayo Hospital and Daga Hospital –100 employees will be given the vaccine in every centre.
Four health employees of NMC and police will be deployed at each centre. Only the health workers who have registered on the CoWin app will be given a free vaccine voluntarily. At present, vaccination will be done in eight centres. Later it will be increased to 50.
It will include government, NMC hospitals as well as private hospitals. Free vaccines will be given at all centres. Whoever needs to be vaccinated, they will be given information about the Centre and time 24 hours before through SMS. Health workers are getting the vaccine in the first phase. Later, other people of the city will get it.
