In an attempt to further strengthen road safety, Ministry of Road, Transport and Highway has been introducing several preventative measures to curb road accidents.
On Thursday, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari seeks support from Big B to champion the cause of the National road safety mission in India.
To create effective public awareness about road safety, the ministry has undertaken various publicity measures and awareness campaigns on road safety through social media, electronic media and print media.
Earlier, in March this year Ministry of Road, Transport and Highway had mandated airbag and electronic monitoring of highways as preventative measures to curb road accidents.
In a written reply to Rajya Sabha, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari informed that there has been a decreasing trend in road accidents, persons killed and injured from 2018-2020.
The Ministry has formulated a multi-pronged strategy to address the issue of road safety based on Education, Engineering (both of roads and vehicles), Enforcement and Emergency Care.
