Captain Amarinder Singh to be NDA’s candidate for Vice President’s position

Sources have confirmed Captain Amarinder Singh will be NDA’s candidate for Vice President’s post. The last date to file nomination papers will be July 19th, the vote for the second highest constitutional office in India will be held on the 6th of August.

Two times the chief minister from Punjab, Singh has also been an MLA for four years and was an elected participant in the Lok Sabha between 1980 and 2014. The Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu will expire on the 10th of August.

One day earlier it was reported that Singh may merge his own party Punjab Lok Congress with BJP in the near future. According to reports the leader is expected to make a final decision on the proposal upon his return to London the week following. On the 27th of June the PLC director was released from the London hospital following a an operation that was successful on his spine.

According to reports, Prime Minister Modi was in contact with PM Modi personally Singh and asked regarding his condition. When PLC joined forces together with SAD(Dhindsa) as well as BJP to contest this year’s Punjab Assembly polls, it was unable to win even one seat, with Amarinder Singh himself suffering a shocking loss during the elections in Patiala Urban.
