Nagpur : State Anti-Terrorist Squad(ATS), Nagpur unit, has arrested Ghughus-based coal mafia Shaikh Haji Sarvar on Monday in connection with inter-state Arms dealing case.
Sarvar, having several offences against him including stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), was under scanner for his possible links with the Maoists and supplying arms to them.
ATS is learnt to have trapped Sarvar from a shrine at Girad in Yavatmal where he was hiding since his close aide and an arms agent had been nabbed around a week ago. The two were bringing firearms from Bihar when intercepted on their way.
One of the persons nabbed earlier was from Yavatmal where Sarvar controls considerable network too.
Sarvar and his network had come under scanner for their links with Maoists.
