ATM in Nagpur, Maharashtra, dispense 5x more cash. People rush to withdraw cash

Date:

One man got a pleasant surprise when he attempted to withdraw Rs500 from an ATM but received five Rs500 currency notes from the cash dispenser in Maharashtra’s Nagpur district.

He tried to withdraw Rs500, but was denied Rs2,500. This occurred Wednesday at an Automated Teller Machine, (ATM), of a private bank in Khaparkheda, about 30 km from Nagpur.

The word spread quickly and soon, a large crowd gathered in front of the ATM to withdraw cash.

A bank customer reported the incident to local police. They rushed to the scene and closed the ATM and informed the bank.

He said that the ATM was dispensing additional cash because of a technical glitch.

Official stated that currency notes in Rs500 denomination were incorrectly kept in an ATM tray intended to dispense notes of Rs100 denomination.

He added that no case had been filed in this regard so far.
