ICSI Nagpur Hosts Landmark Conference on SME Listing and Corporate Governance; Unveils Strategic Global Initiatives

Nagpur :  The Nagpur Chapter of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) successfully organized a high-level One-Day Conference today, March 20, 2026, at [Insert Venue Name, e.g., Hotel Centre Point]. The theme, “IPOs: Opportunities & Critical Compliance under the Companies Act, 2013,” drew a massive gathering of professionals, corporate leaders, and students from across the region.

The event was graced by Chief Guest Mr. Vishwas Pathak (Independent Director, MSEB Holding Company Limited) and Special Guest Mr. Sandip Kumar Salunke (Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Admin & TPS, Nagpur).

Focus on SME Growth and Market Resilience
A primary highlight of the day was the panel discussion on “Identifying Opportunities in SME Listing.” Amidst a volatile global geopolitical climate, speakers emphasized the vital role of Company Secretaries in guiding Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) through the complexities of public listing. The technical sessions delved deep into the Critical Aspects of the Companies Act and the evolving landscape of SME IPOs.

The conference also served as a platform to showcase ICSI’s bold new “Professional Front” initiatives aimed at globalizing the profession. Key programs highlighted include:

Specialized Global Courses: The introduction of the UAE Business Manager certificate and the MBA in Maritime Regulations (in collaboration with Gujarat Maritime University).

Inclusive Growth: The “Professional Reboot” course, specifically designed to help women return to Company Secretarial roles after career breaks.

Startup Ecosystem: The ICSI Start-up and MSME Catalyst, empowering members to act as strategic advisors to India’s booming startup sector.

Commitment to ESG and Global Standards
In response to global shifts, the ICSI detailed its new Principles on Climate Change Governance (IPCG) and the Stakeholder Engagement Toolkit on ESG, positioning Indian Company Secretaries at the forefront of sustainable corporate governance.

“Today’s conference in Nagpur underscores our commitment to transitioning from traditional compliance officers to strategic value creators,” noted the organizers. “With the launch of Overseas Centres in the UAE, USA, and Australia, the sun never sets on the Indian CS profession.”

The event concluded with a vibrant Q&A session where members discussed the impact of international conflicts on Indian market valuations and the future of digital compliance under MCA21.
